OK here's my story. I get to work a little late today so that I happen to be standing on the corner of 48th and Madison at around 10:00 AM. Out of the corner of my eye I notice a white haired gentleman who looks a bit familiar. On closer inspection it turns out to be Mel Karmazin, the Grand Puba of Sirius XM, standing by himself futzing with his Blackberry. So do I do the proper NY thing and leave him alone to his high powered reveries? Nope. "Mr. Karmazin, I'm a big fan of what you're doing with satellite radio," I lie. In response I get a quick smile and a "Yeah, thanks." Do I leave it there? Nope. As the light changes I decide to do the right thing as a fan and say "I especially like that Ron and Fez show you have on 202." This elicits a somewhat nervous smile and he proceeds across Madison at a pace somewhere between a brisk purposeful walk and Paul McCartney escaping a certain intoxicated ginger.

So I saunter into the office with the intention of avoiding any work during the first hour of the show and call in with a spy report and Represent! for the board. Alas, I find out that Dave has been up to shenanigans the night before and this might not have been the most opportune time to bring Ron & Fez into the frontal cortex of the Big Man. :glurps:

Sorry Buddays - I meant well.

Maybe he's just afraid of the fans.

He can't be bothered by fans of such an "unimportant" show.

I can't believe you were able to pick Mel Karmazin out of a crowd.

What you should have done is kicked him in the ball sack and as he's writhing in pain said hoo hoo made you do it.

Off topic, a little. But my blackberry did not wake me up yesterday. Do you have a blackberry and were you late because it didn't wake you up either? The reason I ask is because another guy I work with told me his and his wifes blackberrys also did not wake them up yesterday, and I wonder if there was some issue. If not, disregard this.

I probably would have said something more like "Hey, Mel, thanks for making satellite radio sound like FM radio I have to pay for, asswipe."
