Anna, actually, apple computers are alot more eficient than regular ibm pc's. I think you have it taken to a professional b/c you should have so many problems with it. It could be the hard drive's f'd.

i wouldnt be so quick to get rid of it so soon.

I work for a computer consultantcy/repair firm, and we have had many people come in with chronic ibook hardware problems. Many of them were still in warranty, too. While I'm not Apple-certified, I was working with the guy who does the Apple work there, and he seems to think that Apple got a hold of some bad components. I would suggest that you listen to Impact, and have your system checked out professionally. They can do checks for recalled systems/components.

I'm not saying that your system is definitely suffering from this, but it doesn't hurt to check.

If the problems seem to stem from software or the OS, it could be due to conflicting programs/snap-ins, or something of that ilk. Have the system thoroughly checked. It may cost you a few bucks, but its better than having the system go down when you most need it.

i prefer ibm compatibles, never really cared much for Macs and even if this means I've bought into the man it does what I need it to do and that's all I care about.

welcome back

Trust me, as a fellow iBook owner, this will only end up frustrating you more. The problem is that the original iBooks did have a lot of bugs. My old company bought 3 of them and all 3 had the same problems with the battery and power supply. I had to fight with them to get my battery replaced once and my power cord replaced twice because they burnt out. My hard drive has also crashed twice. I have now gonna about 3 months without a problem with either, thank God.

Anna if you ever need anything just email me or AIM me. My friend Nikki has all sorts of software and she is really good at fixing mine, we would be more than happy to help you out. Going to Apple can get expensive!

Going to Apple can get expensive! It certainly can. If her system is still under warranty, she should be able to get parts and labor covered (I'm not sure about the warranty structure for Apple, but 3-1-1, 3-3-1 and 1-1-1 are common in the industry).

If your system is not under warranty, check with local authorized service centers. I remember that Apple recently changed some of their policies regarding service centers, but it never hurts to check. Good luck.
