anyone heard ESD on his new radio gig? I think it's 90.5 out of New Jersey. He's working with some chick named Michelle. Just wondering because I hadn't heard him.

I was in North Jersey (Hoboken) yesterday morning and tried, but the signal must not travel that far.

Pros: He's a LOT closer to home. And at least he's got a job.
Cons: His talent is only heard on a community college station.

Glad he got another gig but it is definitely weird listening to him not only be so subdued but also reading straight off a script and not being able to be himself. I don't have XM so I don't catch Special Delivery and I definitely miss him on Ron and Fez but glad he found another gig in radio.

There are some torrents available of ESD's breaks. Poor Dave. He's like a caged retard there, he's been verbally castrated. If he ever can't do SD, there will be a SWAT team surrounding the studio after a shooting spree.

Even though this is not the ESD I am used to, I still find him very entertaining. I kind of like Michelle McBride too. Does any have pics? And I dig the music mix.
I have been streaming in the morning and will probably keep doing so. It is a nice pleasant way to get started in the morning. If ESD gets some real airtime I will definitely become a member.

... this small gig is worth more to Dave than his salary at Sirius. Because i'm SURE it doesnt include family health insurance . It might have taken a lot of time & money to commute, but I bet his paycheck doesnt even cover his COBRA costs of his insurance for his family .

When you are commuting 4 hours a day, you jump at the option to work 9 miles away.
Not only do you get 4 hours of your life back PER DAY to pursue other things, you get to see your kids.... who up till recently were referring to dave as the "guy we see on sunday"

Don't cloud the issue with facts. We need to be able to judge and make decisions for your family without interference.

I think Dave over estimated his worth to Sirius..
He thought they thought more of him.
Not saying he is worth less than he thought he was, just that Sirius didnt see it his way.
He thought they would give him the raise.
When they did not, I think it became a pride thing where he could not stay there and have any respect from the people he knows and worked for.

I agree, but the cost of COBRA alone for his family should be about
$600 a month, which he was getting in ADDITION to his (meager) salary at XM. I have a feeling a dinky NPR station isnt going to front for family health insurance. So, Dave saves 4 hrs a day, but goes broke if Stan gets sick.Maybe he can get that Costco job part--time to pay the bills.

All the people I listed are real too. I'm not wishing bad things on his family. My point is that for a great majority of listeners, they are no more real than any other personality so why should hypothesizing or criticizing their choices be off limits?

I can't comment on pay and insurance matters for Dave's new gig. (All I know is that Fez didn't do the right thing when he had the chance.)
What I can say is that everyone should be listening to ESD's morning show. Today he had more non scripted conversation with Michele who's cool and got out some personal stories, movie references, and jokes.
Absolutely love the ESD!!! At this rate, he could be the next Karl Kasel.

You choose to be anonymous. That's entirely up to you. On this particular board many people have met, interacted and even become friends with the people you talk about from behind your keyboard. I am among them. This makes them more than TMZ fodder. If you talk shit about our friends, you will get shit handed back to you. Pretty simple, no?

According to your logic, what happened with Dave did have an effect on you. Even if it's just the way you enjoy your entertainment. To others it is more. As I have said, this is a board revolving around the show. Maybe your cold, removed personna doesn't care, but I well up every time I get a less than positive Stanley update. I can't remove myself. In fairness, you have no opinion (outside of falling in line) on anything and love every single person you have ever met associated with this board unless they give shit to you. Your integrity is compromised simply due to the fact that you wear rose colored glasses and you're only a cardigan sweater away from being Mr. Rogers. He made his point and you disagree.
SC never once stated ESD and Casey's issues with their child didn't make him feel for them, he said it wouldn't have an actual impact on his life. And truth be told this is pretty fucking healthy in the end. His view and closeness to the show are different from yours, deal with that and stop acting as if your involvement matters and impacts them at all. All civil people who know of ESD and Casey's son's health issues wish them the best. And speak for yourself Tub, enough talking for the entire board regardless if you have more posts then the rest of us combined. Sometimes I truly believe you "well up" so publicly just to be seen doing so.

My guess is that he is so far in debt under medical bills that adding more to the pile wasn't really a concern.
Yea, because when you are in debt, the answer is to get into more debt.
You do realize that he has to pay it at some point if he ever wants to do anything credit wise in his life right?

If you have a sick kid, debt is probably near the back of your mind.
He won't ever have to pay for it. There are tons of programs to help situations like his.

He won't ever have to pay it, but he also won't ever be able to buy anything.
It's the same reason he would always bring up how he couldn't get a credit card....it fucks your credit, and you can't buy anything worthwhile with shitty credit...even quite a few jobs screen credit as part of the hiring process now.
Bankruptcy kills...takes equally as long to restore your standing as it does to pay the bills.

I'm not even talking about bankruptcy. There are programs to help pay for hospital bills for sick kids in lower income families.
My niece had a brain tumor, had the surgery, a full year of chemo and all the hospital stays that go with it, and my sister never paid a cent of the final hospital bill which was nearly a quarter million dollars.

I'll confess I don't know a lot about state and federal medical programs, but I would wonder if that covers medical debt prior to entering, and it certainly doesn't cover personal debt.
Look, I like Dave...I hope he gets everything together, it's just that my experience with reading these Dave threads is that people seem to keep hammering on two things:
1) Dave was dealt the worst hand ever (just not true...having a sick kid is extremely rough, but as far as his job stuff and struggles go, he's dealing with something that a hell of a lot of parents go through...trying to juggle what they want versus what's best for their kids and family).
2) Dave should have just been handed the keys by Sirius (or Fez should have just handed him his spot) because he's a talented guy (ideally, maybe...but it's just not the way shit works, especially in radio, and especially in a dying sub-sect of radio like talk radio...look at Ron...the guy was by all accounts a pretty decent comedian and he had to go to shitty fucking Tampa to start and build a show over a DECADE just to get a chance to do overnights at WNEW...and that was when talk radio was at its peak in terms of jobs and the economics...I only know what gets put out on the air, but both Ron & Fez have made it sound like that even though Dave is really talented, he didn't exactly bang down the doors of PDs to get demo tapes in their hand...that could be entirely wrong, and if so, then they did a disservice to him with how they discussed it over the whole saga, but it sounded like he was lax in the whole business side of the business).
Again, I'm sympathetic to the guy, but people talk about him on here like he's completely helpless and screwed, because he didn't get what he wanted from Sirius or Ron & Fez...it should be somewhat insulting to him that people act that way on his behalf...if people like the guy, support his Sam & Dave show...all the other shit, and especially the personal dissection shit is just stupid.

Yeah of course she has complete rights to do whatever she wants on here.
I just think she (and Hottub and anyone else still in denial) needs to come to grips with the fact that her family's life has become public through Dave's on air work, their website, posts on here, etc. therefore it is open for discussion, just as any other public personality (large or small) is open for discussion. I don't think anyone was being overly rude, condescending, or vulgar, so I don't see the reason for the overreaction.
Ron obviously does not want the personal details of his life and family known to listeners and has done a spectacular job of keeping them private. I'd suggest that if she wants a more private life, that she (and Dave) follow Ron's example. Until then I consider their problems open for discussion just like anyone else on here who throws a problem out to the board for discussion. The only difference is that some people on here know the McDonalds personally so they think their problems should be held to a different standard of privacy. As I've stated before they are just as unknown to most people on here as any other public person so I see no reason why they should be given special treatment.

2. Their problems have taken on a life of their own and aren't really unique to them. It could be you or anyone else on here facing the same issues and posting about them and I would respond the same way. This "freedom of speech" argument always mystifies me. At the same time you are complaining that someone is somehow trying to prevent you from expressing your opinion (when in fact they are just retorting), you are retorting to them in the same way. It really comes off stupid and childish.

No. It is a message board designed to discuss the Ron and Fez show, which includes producers past and present. I would find it strange if those people weren't discussed here, especially in this forum, which is in fact entitled, Everything Ron & Fez.

I haven't read through all of this thread, but I'll bet it would annoy me even more if I did.
When Dave was on the show, he opened up his personal life more than any other radio personality I am aware of. As a result, you probably know more intimate details about Dave's life than you do about your closest friends. He did it for your entertainment. It always kind of annoyed me when people would, rather just enjoy what they heard, felt invested to provide armchair analysis of his life and to attack just because they were able to. However, I understand that the things he said became fodder for discussion because they were brought up on the show, so some of the discussion, as ugly as it can be, is justified.
Here's the thing though. He's no longer on the show. It seems like it would be respectful to leave his personal life alone now that he's moved on. If I was still running this place, I would say that the discussions of his personal life are no longer allowed because Dave's no longer on the show. For the folks who would retort with "God forbid we discuss the Ron & Fez Show on a board devoted to the Ron & Fez Show", I would say tough shit and point out that there's no such thing as freedom of speech on a privately owned message board. I would also note that if you really feel compelled to dissect Dave's personal life and cast aspersions, I'm sure Wackbag would be happy to have you.

While I don't agree with this, I do have some similar ideas on the theme. To me, it's out there and it's fodder for discussion sure. It's simply the way some feel they have to direct their posts that may disagree, loaded with totally unfounded hate and anger toward either ESD, Fez or Casey. Ok, disagree with their motives, choices and hell even there overall way of life, but do we have to act high almighty in the process and say some terrible things too? If you find the need to destroy someone like that, I offer up Mikeyboy bc he and his disgusting remote control stories deserve only the highest level of vitriol you can bring to the table.
Seriously though, some of the people others like to say we shouldn't comment on or discuss, are the very same people still putting almost their entire lives out there on the net in multiple ways. This isn't the prerequisite to being awful to someone, but it surely does mean you put it out there. If someone requested it being off the table and they backed it up by their own actions, I think most civil adults here on the board would do just that. However, I'm not convinced this is what said people actually want. To me, most always want the spotlight when it's shining bright, but never when it goes the other way in any manner. It simply doesn't work that way and shouldn't.

They're short, but surprisingly entertaining. He has a nice rapport with Michelle, the host. Dave sounds comfortable and relaxed. He and Michelle have small-talk, and Dave is funny just like he was on Ron & Fez. It's not forced jokes, just amusing banter.

Ron said they were working on some things to get Dave back on the show. When Ron mentioned it before it sounded like there wasnt any chance of Dave returning. Ron had basically moved on and wished Dave luck in finding a new job best for him and his family. No one else is talking about here so I guess I could be wrong. I was just really surprised that Ron and Fez were still working to get Dave back on the show so long after his departure, especially after hearing what Ron said on prior shows concerning Dave leaving.
Pretty cool that they held out so long. Especially Pepper who had to take most of the hit not having any help so long. Great loyalty from that kid to his buddy.

I guess some of you should be happy I'm not in charge anymore.
I certainly am...

Ronnie said they are trying to bring Dave back now.
Then why was a position for Associate Producer on R&F posted a week ago?

Because Sirius has moved on, even though Ron and Fez were still working on bringing Dave back is my guess.

They have to post the job publicly by law even if they hire within the company or hire someone else.
I thought government type jobs had to do that but private companies could do whatever they want? Although I guess Sirius is public owned company but still pretty sure higher up execs just hire who the hell they want without having to post jobs (ie nepotism)... or maybe they post them in a private bathroom that nobody can see

I know another show on Sirius decided to hire a guy who was friends with the host but they had to publicly post the job anyway. I could be wrong but I think that's the way it goes.
I guess it could just be company policy too... I was just thinking EEO type laws or something.

I'm listening also. I loved how he admitted to eating chocolate mint ice cream with meatloaf on it. He wanted to eat his meal all in one sitting.

I Don't really listen much to 202 since his departure. RnF is the best show on Air, but without dave it does not have that friggin crazy swerve that nobody could see coming. Dave is a master at not telegraphing his 'punch' and 202 is not the same without it.
Thanks for listing the new stuff, I'll check it out.

He wasn't making enough money, and the money people at Sirius wouldn't approve a raise. His new digs are found with this thread merge. He's still doing Special Delivery on Saturdays.

Why don't they have him in as a guest or sit in like HTG?

why would Dave make the (expensive) 2 hour commute (each way) so that he could sit in for free, when he came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it when he was getting paid ?

Exactly. Why give away your on air talent to Sirius for free?
If they want him on air, let them fucking pay him for his time and travel expenses.
I wouldn't even call in if I were Dave (which, as far as I know, he hasn't). No offense to the buddays, of course, but fuck those cheapskate suit pricks.
