They really bug me. The darting eyes, the nervous cynicism, the sarcastic aloofness. Sort of like flamboyant gay men, they even have their own cultural vocal inflection. They collect toys. Well into adulthood. They always seem moist and pimplish. They idolize and obsess over their celebrities and icons. Worst of all, they usually seem completely happy with who they are.

Clumsy is the new cool. I know because my Mom told me so.
Plus she's making me an awesome grilled cheese right now.

You just described different people from just about every walk of life. Each of those separate personality traits are present in just about every different social group.

But it's the combination.
You also kind of described anyone who is way too into whatever hobby, past time or interest they have. Plenty of douche bags like that who are into sports, TV shows, movies, books, etc.
I understand the kind of person you're talking about, I don't really like them too much either but it's not JUST your traditionally geeky stuff. It's an overly obsessed asshole kind of person.
I'd take a pimply geek any day of some cunt who will argue their football team to me like I give a fuck. At least the geeks won't engage you in conversation unless you initiate it.

I consider myself a jock/party-er with nerdy tendicies. Or a nerd hybrid.
I'm your worst nightmare - I love sports, party like a rock star, get the girl and will kick your face in - in a blink of the eye if you dis-respect me or my friends but I also love Harry Potter, Sci fi, Ghost Hunters and playing video games. I have a degree in Engineering but hate the engineering lifestyle. I repeat, I am your worst nightmare - HYPNOTIC GLARE!

i have a similar back ground:
nerdy gamer girl (practially raised by mario and luigi). played flute in the HS band, wasnt in cheerleading, but i was a professional level dancer and travelled around the world. (i was sponsored by bacardi for salsa dancing). i practiced capoeira internationally as well. my degree is in classical studies and my latin and ancient greek are pretty decent (though i can feel the rust building on them by the second). :o

What is the Engineering Lifestyle?
Lifestyle was a poor chioce of words - I meant the job demo that comes with an engineering job. I enjoy a salesman lifestyle rather than the previous engineering job I used to have.

I agree with you, but back to my point, I hate ANYONE who walks around with a sense of self-superiority. Like sports assholes who put on their team's jersey after a big win, talk down to fans of there teams and generally act like they did something for their team. All they did was sit in a sports bar and yell. You didn't suit up and go in the game for a quarter stupid.
There's lots of annoying assholes out there. I think you're just annoyed with geeks because they are into stuff you're not. I don't think their hobbies are any more or less important that everyone else's. The good thing is they're very avoidable for the most part. Don't go to comic/hobby stores, don't spend too much time at a game store and you should hopefully never hear them. Oh, and flip 202 off when Big Kev is on.

starting at 13 just seems out of place in this day and age. maybe in the 1800s it was the norm, but it wasn't something i was prepared for at the time.

Once you are captain of a college cheerleading team, or when a company like Bacardi sponsors you to travel the world to salsa dance, you automatically forfeit your geek status. Sorry girls.
