Off of everything I know about the state's politics, I'd be floored if she won.
I'm not stunned she won the primary, because nobody votes in the primaries and she had the Palin/Hannity/Beck crew do a whirlwind tour a for her the last couple weeks to get some people out to vote.
But in a general, she's unelectable in Delaware. Definitely cost themselves a seat pickup.

"Instead of handing out the welfare checks, we'll teach people how to earn their check. I can see how some maybe unhappy with their party. But casting out moderate republicans is not the way to go about things. This is something deeper (underhanded). And is the MO of the teaparty.
If this was the will of the people. It would be akin to not being happy with an electric blender. And replacing it with a hand mixer.
There is already talk of a government shutdown should the right take over. Newt Gingrich is at it again. And if these teaparty folks come to office. It will be a far greater chance of a shutdown to come.

As maybe the only person here who understands Delaware politics, I can say with 100% certainty that I hope the National GOP pours a TON of cash into this race at the expense of others.
It would be the equivalent of lighting it on fire.
It's almost demographically impossible for her to win to begin with. Castle won all these years on the strength of independents and a substantial Democratic crossover rate to vote for him.
If Castle ran as an Independent, he'd win this race easily.
The crossover rate for her will be almost non-existent. Delawareans know this bitch is crazy. This is her third senate run (she ran once on the God & Faith party or something).
It's an uphill fight to begin with...that doesn't even take into account the fact that her prior campaign manager is alleging that she kept campaign funds to pay her bills and rent from last election, and that Christine O'Donnell has no job (she claims she's a "marketing consultant"...no one can substantiate how she makes her money).
She has a graveyard's worth of skeletons.
If this was an Alabama or Georgia election....MAYBE she'd have a shot.
Delaware's GOP is one of the weakest in the country to begin with and even they aren't supporting her. Rumor is already abound that Castle is supporting Coons.
Any national pundit trying to make the case she could win is talking out their ass.
Delaware is also going to deliver Castle's former Congress seat as a pickup, too, because of another tea party they picked over another GOP candidate who had a good shot of holding the seat.
Comparing this woman to Sarah Palin sullies the good name of Sarah Palin.

This teaparty rebellion is entertaining in the same way that when I was a drunk teenager watching my even drunker friends try to light m-80's was entertaining - I knew in the back of my mind that something bad was going to happen eventually but every time it didn't it was great. What's most fun for me is watching the GOP establishment realize that their zombie army has turned on them first. Ronnie B always says that people who are willing to jerk the steering wheel of state into some crazy direction never get elected to positions of power. I think this current wave of lunacy may prove him wrong, at least temporarily.
I say lunacy because I don't see any coherence to what the "Tea Party" followers are clamoring for. I know my libertarian buds want to believe that this is their wave and they're dying to surf it whilst giving the finger to commie symps such as myself but I don't see it. I may be wrong but I think if the old-timers marching to Glen Beck's flute understood what somebody like Paul Ryan was really calling for with Social Security they'd be burning him and not in effigy.
I remember somebody wrote (snarkily) that, at Dice's peak, going to one of his concerts was watching the mob at play. I believe the Tea Party movement is the last gasp, or one of the last gasps, of white working class America grasping for an idealized past, where they thought they were at the center of the universe, and that ain't coming back. These are my roots, so I don't condemn them for the effort because they are right in their gut feeling that their ability to control their own destinies is slipping away. What I reject is the xenophobia and their willingness to march unquestioningly to the drummers who are manipulating them to fight against their own best interests while those drummers are benefitting mightily from their ignorance.

You call this woman a "cunt" and a "bitch" because of something she said when she was 21, which is based on her religious beliefs! How "tolerant" and "progressive" of you. I doubt you or anyone else here bashing this woman for her religious beliefs, would show the same venom for a person of Muslim faith.
Liberals fear both strong women and strong minorities. Why? Because they don't fall in line when liberals tell them to. Liberals are only "tolerant" when they feel guilt toward something. They bash strong women like Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle and Christine O'Donnell, and strong conservative minority men like Marco Rubio and Clarence Thomas...for not thinking like the liberal elitists say they should.

Your ignorance on this subject is as cute as your hilarious and original play on the word "tea party"!
The message the tea party is sending, is of bi-partisan politics. They are going against the establishment by ousting shoe-in Republicans and long-time politicians. They aren'y voting for who will definitely win, but instead, who's ideals match their own. What happened in Delaware is a great example of that:
Delaware, being a very blue state, is a tough place for a Republican to win a senate seat. Mike Castle would have been the safe vote to keep some Republican power in the state, and help Republicans take over the Senate...but tea party members didn't care about that. They simply wanted to vote in who they believed to be the best candidate. The tea party is waking up the Republican Party, and scaring liberals such as your self. I say "liberals" because the tea party consists of Democrats, many formerly "Blue Dogs" who feel as if there's no place for them in their own party.
The tea party movement is making waves on the political climate...and will continue to!

Care to give me actual polling data showing that "the tea party consists of Democrats"?
Cause this was what I found, from a March 2010 poll:
Looking at voters who consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement:
74 percent are Republicans or independent voters leaning Republican;
16 percent are Democrats or independent voters leaning Democratic;
5 percent are solidly independent;
45 percent are men;
55 percent are women;
88 percent are white;
77 percent voted for Sen. John McCain in 2008;
15 percent voted for President Barack Obama.
Wow, that Tea Party's really eating away at the Democrat Party, ain't it?

Liberals fear both strong women and strong minorities. Why? Because they don't fall in line when liberals tell them to. Liberals are only "tolerant" when they feel guilt toward something. They bash strong women like Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle and Christine O'Donnell, and strong conservative minority men like Marco Rubio and Clarence Thomas...for not thinking like the liberal elitists say they should.
Oh god, he's back with another new name.
LIBERALS!!! ARG?!! LIBERAL!!

Oh I'm sorry...what were those signs about obama...at teaparty rallies..."we strongly disagree with you mr. president" or was it "nazi, socialist etc.
Sarah Palin is strong? no she's not...if she were strong she wouldn't try to hide herself from the mainstream media and let reporters come into where she speaks and have what she says on record. She doesn't so how is she being strong.
Sharron Angle is a nut job... no really she is. I've read the things she's says. And she's nuts. There's nothing strong about her. Or if you believe so give me a list of things and show me how those agree with the things she says.
Christine O'Donnell want's to tell me an adult what i should do with my private parts in my own home. I don't want someone who wants to be in a postion of power to tell me what i can and cannot do with my own cock.
Well with Rubio and Thomas...its not so much not thinking like liberals its that they have a lack of introspection when they were benefited from liberal ideals being enacted and are now trying to turn around now that they are the establishment.
And Oh how are liberals elites? When oh I'm pretty much sure no teabagger would be ever in the social circle of any conservative running for office. I'm pretty much sure Palin isn't thinking of the rube who bought her book.
There's a difference between supporting someone having the right to build a mosque where they want to as american citizens...and calling someone out who wants to restrict americans in O'Donnells case the right to mastubate among others. See the difference?

Sarah Palin is not a "strong" woman, and is a shitty role model for girls. She's a hot mess. She's an embarrassment to me as a woman. There are plenty of other Republican women who are actually SMART and COMPETENT that could be in the spotlight, but instead they've thrown up an idiot simply because she is decent looking. What a step back for women. It's disgusting.
I can't believe you are actually backing up Sharon Angle and Christine O'Donnell, seriously, I'd love to know what you think their qualifications and strengths are. From your posts, it appears you are just parroting what the tea party tells you to parrot. Tell me why they are competent.

Your ignorance on this subject is as cute as your hilarious and original play on the word "tea party"!
You do realize that the "teabagger" mockery is because Tea Party members originally referred to themselves as "teabaggers" in national media with no understanding of what the slang of that term meant.
The message the tea party is sending, is of bi-partisan politics.
No its not. Its old white people who are very afraid.
The tea party is waking up the Republican Party, and scaring liberals such as your self. I say "liberals" because the tea party consists of Democrats, many formerly "Blue Dogs" who feel as if there's no place for them in their own party.
Sort of wrong and very wrong.
The Tea Party is waking up the Republican Party as its become a threat to the power structure of the party. Their activism was seen as a benefit at first, but now is artifically shifting the GOP to the extreme right which bucks all historical political trends in a way that threatens their long-term viability.
And as a guy who knows a couple of things about the Democratic Party, trust me when I tell you that the Party loves the Tea Party and the way they are giving the middle (moderates) completely away to the Democratic Party due to the correct perception that the GOP is being driven to the extreme right by the TeePees.

Ah, now it makes sense:
She did not grow up as a strict Catholic, but came to a turning point during college when she found herself drinking excessively and engaging in sexual relationships with men with whom she lacked a strong emotional connection.[5] (She would later say of this period, "I know what it's like to live a life without principle."[13]) She became increasingly interested in both politics and religion.[10] She became an evangelical Christian, began preaching sexual abstinence and joined the College Republicans.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_O%27Donnell)

And by the way, it looks like her habit of paying the bills she actually does pay out of campaign funds might be just a tiny bit illegal.
"It turns out Miss O'Donnell has treated her campaign funds like they are her very own personal piggy bank. She's used that money to pay for things like her rent, for gas, meals and even a bowling outing. And that's just flat-out illegal," said Melanie Sloan, the group's executive director.
In an interview on CNN's "AC360," Sloan said her organization would be sending letters to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Delaware and the Federal Elections Commission on Monday asking them to investigate.

I'd like an explanation on how this line of thinking would be appropriate for someone serving in public office.
O'DONNELL: A lie, whether it be a lie or an exaggeration, is disrespect to whoever you're exaggerating or lying to, because it's not respecting reality.
MAHER: Quite the opposite, it can be respect.
COMEDIAN EDDIE IZZARD: What if someone comes to you in the middle of the Second World War and says, 'do you have any Jewish people in your house?' and you do have them. That would be a lie. That would be disrespectful to Hitler....
O'DONNELL: I believe if I were in that situation, God would provide a way to do the right thing righteously. I believe that!

false witness - a person who deliberately gives false testimony (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/false+witness)
To tell a lie. To say someone has done something they have not. Swearing you know something when you know it is untrue. Additionally, bearing false witness means to receive a lie as if were the truth. If you were not there to witness, and swear it to be true you in turn are a false witness. (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_Bear_False_Witness_mean)

She's too batshit crazy even for Fox News, apparently.
Now that the election has ended, what’s next? In an exclusive statement to Mediaite a Fox News spokesperson says that the cable newser “has no plans to hire her.” While it’s probably safe to say that we haven’t seen the end of Ms. O’Donnell in the mainstream media, or even an occasional appearance on Fox News, the regular contribution gig (which can be lucrative) does not appear to be in O’Donnell’s future.
But based on the old Politically Incorrect clips of her dug up during the election, she's actually far better on TV than Sarah Palin is. Some of Palin's spots on Fox News have been damn near incoherent. She absolutely murders the English language.

There area lot of ignorant voters, for example people who votes for the better looking candidate. Also the zero liability voters are ignorant because most have no idea about how government works, they think theres an endless supply of money being sent to them without knowing that it was taken from someone else.
I believe that there should be some sort of civics tests . A lot on the right will vote for their candidate because its a vote for morals, God religion etc. And on the left especially for the zero liability voters, they vote for the Dems because who ever votes down a pay raise?

It never dawns on you that people on the left understand that taxes come from somewhere, and we accept that, because we think that government has a greater responsibility to society than just defense of the realm?

Educated people on the left know that but a zero liability voter most likely does not. And most people on the left think people with my views want no taxes, A theocracy and basically a marketplace like Mogadishu when thats not the case at all in my opinion.

but when it comes to making cuts, the right won't say what they'll cut or they cutt things that shouldn't be- like the NIH and biomedical research funding
here are some sources (not from the telegraph about coconuts):
with the republican budget: While the nearly flat NIH budget left research advocates warning that the U.S. edge on biomedical research is eroding (http://www.ama-assn.org/amednews/2008/01/21/gvsa0121.htm)
By comparison: Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who will became the House speaker, has already laid out an ambitious agenda for the “first 100 hours,” including more spending on health care and scientific research. In October, Pelosi called for additional funding for cancer research and early detection efforts. (http://jnci.oxfordjournals.org/content/99/1/10.full)
Right wing sloagans against taxes and big government are fun, but only the governement, supported by your taxes, can do the things the NIH funds.

There's not enough Republicans who share my view. They can start by cutting the defense budget by at least 20%. Do we need farm subsidies? Eliminate the Dept of Homeleand Security and Education department. I admit it will NEVER happen though

This is brilliant and true. Sorry WF, but most people on your side basically have the mindset of "Fix the fucking country, but dont tax us to pay for it." Like the money is going to fall from the sky.
The amount we spend on defense is just mind boggling. Such a huge waste of funds.

For defense spending you will not get an arguement from me. Also our spending in intel is way too much. 800,000 people with top secret clearances is redundant and not necessary.
Unfortunately many on the right don't realize that it was dubya who expanded the fed gov't the most since LBJ.

Man, most people dont realize anything. If the last 2-6 years tell you anything about this country, it should be how the overwhelming majority of people living in it are fucking morons.
