i'd be pissed too if for some unknown reason i had to take less money.....i'd be even more annoyed that the company that i worked for had still yet to realize that once HOO HOO leaves O&A show is going to be the biggest draw that Sirius XM has.

Then they should've left and worked out something else. They're contractually obligated to do 6-10 for another 2 years and they didn't get a raise, how exactly are you getting back at the company through petulant bitching? Have some balls and walk with all your fans or shut up about it. By signing the contract you agree that you're worth exactly what they're going to pay you.

You see that would just make sense if they weren't happy with their contract they would explore other options. Anthony doesn't seem to be all pussy hurt about it but Opie will be passive agressive about it for the next 2 years.

i fucking love jocktober.

Why?

Seriously. Why? I would love to hear why that's a good bit.

I started listening to O&A many years ago so I DIDN'T have to hear hacky shit like that. They always said they were above doing hack radio, themselves (debatable still), and yet, here they are playing it. If I tune into 202 to avoid hack radio, why am I hearing it? Am I supposed to think it's an ironic kind of funny?

It's just a way for them to do the same shit these other small market shows do to kill time and by saying "look how hack it is" it makes them appear as if they're above it and can take some kind of credit for being better. I guess if we all pretend prank calls and shoe horned song parodies never happened from them, then maybe it's funny. I dunno. I guess I still was hoping for all that "honest" radio they always claim to do.

Picking on a radio show for using a soundboard prank call? Really? Let's take a trip in the wayback machine to a time when they never did that and drove it into the ground. Oh wait, that time doesn't exist.

Not defending them completely, but a bit becomes hack, it isn't inherently hack. So, when they did the bits they are now calling hack, it is because these other shows are still doing them, acting like they are original and unique.

Have you ever watched Mystery Science Theater? Is that the same as watching the bad movie by itself?

Besides, anything that gets away from Opie acting like a tough rebel is great, trying to hold out- in reality he probably didn't want to do it electronically like Anthony did.

I believe he was referring to Danza's rather insincere way of saying "thought and prayers, thought and prayers..." on his TV talk show when discussing a sad or tragic news story.

Ant used to run that impression into the ground.

You're right... they were doing those types of things wayyyyy back in the late 90's and early 2000's.

Not like in these modern space-age times.

They were using prep burger almost exclusively for their bits? They were using that same over the top radio voice?
A Bill Clinton movie review? Really?
The parody song wasn't so bad had it been done by them or one of their listeners, but the way they intro-ed it and that it probably came from a service, makes it horrible.

As a back handed compliment, it has been many years since they even did bits, let alone bought them. The last song parodies I remember them caring about were the ones about pedophiles and abortions, not exactly "Segue to Heaven."

And I must admit, I love sarcastic Sam. If I had to work with him, sure I would want to kill him, but his little comments are great.

Hopefully they will do away with that extra hour and shorten the replays. They have already made the weekend countdowns shorter because the show each day is shorter. If they are only doing 3 hour comercial free shows they don't need a 5 hour replay spot. If anything they should just start their show at 7 and go right to 11.

They should also do away with a few of their replays give R&F a better slot or maybe move some other shows on the channel so there is live programing. To bad Opie's ego will never let them do away with the replays. It would be nice to hear some live content on the channel. Currently their shows are replayed more then they are live each week.

I'd rather see them stay at 6, end at 9:50 to allow for commmercials, and put an hour of something original between the shows. Personally, I'm all for a shorter show. I think they're tighter. When the show goes to the point where they're just babbling and have run out of steam it's awful.

When he first mentioned it last week it was like "Would'nt it be funny if we made Dr Steve do this awful thing..." Then they joked about gay guys showing up for free prostate exams. Even if they were allowed to do it how many guys are going to show up to get fingers stuck up their butts for free? They couldn't get people to show up for cherry darts and they were giving out a jewel encrusted iPad. The days of bits that rely on people showing up are long, long gone.

But seriously, dont most people put on headphones to drown out other people bitching about their jobs?

I haven't listened to the show in a couple of months, so I tuned in this morning on the way to work and immediately heard Opie whining about "the lawyers." I guess not much has changed.

I try listening at least once a week. Mainly on Friday's because Howard is off. Can't seem to get past the first 30 min or so.

Sounds like they bleeped Ant today when he said the n-word (I presume) during the Jocktober four-word thing. At least during the replay.

Has the show been ending the same way the replays are this week, totally randomly with no indication they are about to sign off?

Yes.

They're really sticking it to the management.

Oh well I guess it's fine if that's why they're doing it. They truly are the workhorses.

I almost prefer it to the long, winding petering out that often used to make up the last 20-30 minutes of the show.

I think it's just the mobile devices that are the problem. Specifically the official Sirius/XM apps. If you use a 3rd party app on your phone, the website or a 3rd party app on your computer there is no problem. I think Sirius/XM official apps re encode the stream before they send it out.

I've been getting into a lot of podcasts lately, and it's really refreshing listening to people who actually enjoy putting out shows for no money. Then I click on O&A and hear nothing but contempt for their employers and their listeners. I think I'm done.

I've been so more and more as of late.

I heartily agree with you on the refreshment front.

If they ever got all the things they've been asking for, they'd have nothing to talk about.

It drives me nuts when people talk about how strong Guinness is just because it's dark. The Extra Stout is about 1% higher than Bud, but the regular stout is about 1% lower than Bud.

Guinness also has few calories than most non-light beers.

The Big A - read thing is rather redundant, and not-so-funny.

Further, a year or so ago I was not into the Jocktober. Now, seeing more of what the radio industry is like - with the DUMMMMIES (jimmy style) on the radio, getting mad cash for lacklustre stuff - I can see why OnA get frustrated at overpaid stinkers schlocking their Morning Zoo/Down Home/Never Offend A Soul shows to the mAsses.

This non-creative/'dont think' - type mentality sucks, and its nice to see that vibe burned a tad.

Boring Jocks (ppl) that are basically Chip Chiperson over and over...but now they are great comedy fodder... AND THE JOCK TOBER rolls on people. . choo chooo. . hehe
