I work in the Boston Public Schools administration building and they have meetings all the time, that video is scary.

It's a scary video. But I just have no idea how no one (meaning security) came into the room. There was a live feed of the whole thing that was being watched just outside of the room.

And wow what an awful shot. Well ya now, minus the one.

Did you not have your sound on??? They did come into the room, a couple of times, both times they saw the gun and backed out. Then when he started shooting is when they came in and shot him.

at the very end of the video, it says that he was injured by school security before he shot himself, so someone did get in there. hell maybe security personnel were fired in that sweep that the shooter's wife was in as well.

its scary, but it goes to show just how desperate things are getting out there.

You're actually justifying opening fire in a school meeting because the job market sucks?

She's probably one of those people who held the IRS kamikaze as a folk hero.

He really did.

It was odd seeing how he handled it like it was something that happened a lot of the time.

Kind of like he just shrugs and mutters oh god, another one.

I'm sure they've had to deal with very angry people in those meetings before, and they probably do have some sort of training in how to deal with it.

It just came down to them being lucky the guy was such a shitty shooter.

According to his wife (take with a grain of salt) he was an excellent marksman, and didn't intend on actually shooting anyone. I kind of believe it, since one of the shots was fired almost at the floor.

What really made them lucky was the guard. He said he just had a funny feeling he should be there tonight, and showed up right before it happened.

It wasn't part of his normal duties to be at the meetings.

Yep.
But then again, how would you like to bet about 5% of the people know what the V is from. The others just scratch their heads and go "what was that think he put on the wall?"

Leave it up to a fat psycho to make a good movie the symbol of insanity.

I think Stan's point was, it was reported as being from the movie. Hence his comment about a possible spike in sales. It's not like he's saying, people who know the movie, will suddenly decide to buy it again, because of this.

im not justifying it. i dont think he was right in what he was doing at all. he was totally batshit crazy. at no point did i say he was right and cheer him on. all i said was that things were getting so bad that this is what he felt he had to do. i wonder how bad it has to get before someone feels that this is the only alternative.

FACT: People have been going crazy and shooting people long before the recession started.

There's plenty of people in his position who haven't tried to murder people. You can't blame this on how bad things are. He was a loon. And the wife's story is pretty thin. Anyone who is an expert marksman is still not good enough to shoot the papers off the desk in front of someone and be 100% sure that the person is not going to get hit. You can't predict what a bullet will do after it has struck an object. He was trying to kill those people. The shot into the ground really appears like an accidental discharge, based on how the loon reacted to it. Not an expert shooter, not sane, not the recession's fault.
