I love the word, but can never spell it correctly, and the spell checker offers annoying words that are similar, but never the correct word.
Why is it so hard to spell this word?
I always spell it: definatly, and the spell checker offers words like "defiantly" or "definably" but never "definitely".
So frickin annoying! Definitely annoying, indeed!

I'm going to keep going until I get one with no red scribble underneath:
Beuaracracy
Beauraucracy
Buearucracy
Beurareaucracy
Bureaucracy
Fucking hate that word.

I get definitely right by saying "defin ITE ly" in my head. I usually screw of maintenance by trying to add "ance" to the end of "maintain".

me too! I always start spelling maintainance then have to look it up
Bureaucracy is a good one too... I can't spell that for the life of me. I would be the biggest loser in a spelling bee.

I find having studied French helps a bit. Bureau is office, bureau-crat, bureau-cracy.
Maintenance I remember as main-tenance and it's pretty similar to maintenant which means now in French.
Definite, I just remember as de-finite because I'm a math nerd.

I barely understand English... no way I could learn French.

I use google as a spell check. And just tried it with your spelling definatly. It came up with the right word to use for it.
I do use a real online spell check also. And as a gaf put speel check into google just to see what would come up.

I have a terrible time with cantaloupe. The worst part is, I've tried to send a text message with it a couple of times. If I can't remember the spelling, I'd try using T9. T9 will NOT let you spell cantaloupe at all. The only two options it gives you are antelope and catalogue.
BTW... In typing this, I just found out that Firefox's spell check won't let me use catalogue! :wallbash:

Definately one of those words when misspelled looks wrong, but I wonder if it's just me. Like unfortunately...ely...or just...ly. Thank god for dictionary.com

That seems like a lot of work. Just use a non-retarded browser that has built-in spellcheck.

Dictionary.com has an app for the droid. Easier than the browser

Spelling is not a skill we need anymore because of technology. I hate when people fight that.
