yea cause they are both fuckin terrible. who would give a fuck if there was? And how do you know say the Rutgers basketball team has ZERO animosity toward Seton Hall's basketball team? You cant know things like this but you fuckin say it anyway as if its fact.

I dont believe you played sports, or at least played boys or mens sports, if you are honestly saying your team didnt get happy if your rival town got its ass kicked, or the other school in your town. Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley are in seperate divisions, but you can bet your ass they root for each other to lose.

I never said it was a rival town. I said it was the next town over who didn't play in our division. Our rivals were different schools. Do Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley play each other?

Shit, you dont think everyone at Ohio State loves when Michigan loses to anyone?

Never said that. tOSU and Michigan are rivals, and I remember tOSU taking great pleasure in the App. State loss. That's different. You don't think Jets fans love it when the Pats and Fins lose?

Yea they are big rivals but Ohio State and Cincy arent, but i bet they love when Cincy loses.

I'll put that theory to the test. I'll go ask some tOSU fans about that.

You wanna be the best in your area. If you dont play the other team, then what they do against other teams does matter. They need to suck so you know you are superior. Thats nature.

Geographically, the Jets are closer to the Bills than Miami or the Pats. But the rivalry with the Fins and the Pats has ALWAYS been more intense. Even when one or both of the teams sucked.

Thats why I dont get these jerkoffs who like the Giants or Jets and root for the other. Or like the Yankees or Mets and root for the other. FUCK THAT SHIT. They are just as much enemies as anyone else is cause they are another team you want to be better than.

So you are seriously fucking implying I should have been pulling for the Patriots to win in the Super Bowl against the Giants? Get the fuck out of here.

you really have to ask? They are both in Ohio. OSU (stop the stupid fuckin the ohio state university shit) wants to be the dominant school in Ohio. It did NOT make them happy to have Cincy end a season with a better record. Trust me

As for the Wayne Hills/Valley, they can play if they want, thats up to the schools. Although now all the divisions are different so none of that might hold up anymore. But when I was in HS, no, they didnt play.

As for the SB thing, no, you shouldnt have been rooting for either. But as I said, the organization has alot to do with that. The giants, overall, dont give alot of reason to hate them. They are usually pretty quiet and conservative sans the few asshole players who yap too much. they arent really a hatable team unless you have a direct reason like dallas philly and washington and now New England do. The Jets are scum though, they are easy to root against. Ill even say this, and everyone here knows how I feel about Philadelphia:

if the Super Bowl somehow ended up being Jets vs Eagles, and I HAD to say a team id rather have win, it would be the Eagles and there wouldnt be a fuckin SECOND of hesitation. Right now I hate the Jets more than I hate fuckin Philly in all sports. More than I hate Jim Tressel or Rich Rod or WV or Syracuse or the Celtics or Lakers or anyone.

I dont even hate the Heat as much, cause they arent total scum bags, just pathetic. If the jets were how they used to be and played Philly in the SB, then I wouldnt root for either one. Id watch the game, hope for a good game, and hope somehow the game never ended and nobody won

This is Badger country, not Golden Eagle/Warrior/Hilltopper land.

thats exactly the point. If you dont play them, then the ONLY way to say you are better is to have a better record. Have them lose. If Wisconsin went like 18-20 in BBall or whatever many games they play, and Marquette went 28-10 Wisconsin would not be happy.

This, x2. I get into it with Pats fans at work, and one of my good friends is a Dolphins fan, so we get into it, but the Eagles and Giants fans, we're just like - good luck. It's exactly the same thing that Smails is describing.

Most fans aren't like the mouthbreathers that call into WFAN. Most fans don't care about press coverage or all this shit you are talking about. They care about their team and who their team plays against. And no offense, a Dolphins fan talking about the relationship[ between the Jets fans and Giants fans when you actually have Jets and Giants fans telling you it's not like that is pretty funny.

It doesnt matter that Im a dolphin fan I live in the NY area and see many people who hate the jets and giants because they are a fan of the other. I get pulled into the argument all the time of course I side with the NYG because the only NFL team I despise is the NYJ but I see it all the time. Go to a sports bar on a sunday and see one of them win and the other lose. They go after each other more then any of their rivals because its easier to shit on them because they are both local and it creates bragging rights.

I really dont think you or Tom know anything about competitive natures? Im not saying it needs to get violent, at the end of the day it really is stupid but its something men do. Its a way to fuck around and have fun but at the same time feel like you are part of the argument and a way to pump up your chest.

Funny you say that, bc they just had their alumni hockey game versus each other over the holiday break. It's supposed to be a friendly game but it didn't go down that way at all. They may not be in the same division, but even years later they were not even close to friendly. There was almost a fight on the first shift.

I don't know if I'd go quite that far, but man I have to wonder at times with the shit they both come up with. Like, "I'll go ask them", all the TMZ-like/Fez type sports stories, Tom's breakdown on Eli and the Giants all the time and so much more. This much I do know, Aggie knows more about sports than both, even if she's a typical girl happy for the other team. Some things like kindness and vaginas you just can't take out of women. I guess the latter applies to both Tom and Matty as well. It's expected out of Aggie and now with fruits like you two as well.

I know you didn't mean to knock me...but I gotta call bullshit with that logic. So playing a sport would make me a better fan or understand rooting/not rooting for other teams? (which I did play baseball until 8th grade and soccer until freshman year)

Just because I love the Giants doesn't mean I can't root for another team.

Yeah, that could lead to teams seeing the conversion is about to fail grabbing a face mask or something to get a do-over. That's a loophole that needs to be closed.

And don't think every other coach still in the playoffs hasn't filed away the fact that an offensive penalty that doesn't result in loss of down gets you a do-over.

The Patriots have done it against the Colts a number of times. They were getting gassed in Indy the last time, and Willie McGinnest laid down on the field and pretended he was injured, even though the Patriots had no TOs left.

I guess that might be different, as it's defense, as opposed to the offense.

If the Celek had dropped the ball, it wouldn't have been a do-over. GB would have declined the penalty and it would have gone to the kick-off. It's not an "automatic penalty". Everything that happens during the course of live ball play can be declined or accepted.

Nah. At the beginning of this season I didnt even expect them to make the playoffs. This was a really fun season and man it wouldve been nice to win another one like that but what can you do?

Im already annoyed with the Eagles fans (Mostly women and faggot men) that are now trying to blame it all on Vick or are happy he lost because they fuck their dogs or cant get the same respect from a human they get from their fucking pomeranian or whatever. Ugh.

Andy Reid will forever frustrate me. Hes a great gameplan coach, as long as the gameplan works. Hes horrible at adapting and even after 10 years doesnt know how to fucking manage timeouts. Im still trying to figure out why, with 40 seconds left on the 30 yard line and first down, he doesnt call for a spiked ball there so he can have time to carefully plan out the play. Instead he has them run to the line and calls a deep pass like theres 5 seconds left.

Im not gonna crucify Akers because I was there tonight and it was windy as fuck.

Oh well, congrats Epo. I dont usually root for the team that beat mine but I hope they smoke the Bears next weeek.

"This is about Bill Belichick versus Rex Ryan," Ryan said, addressing the upcoming showing in Foxborough for the first time. "There's no question, it's personal. It's about him against myself. That's what it's going to come down to."

NO, IT ISNT. Its about the Jets vs the Patriots. You are NOT more important than an entire franchise. Bellechik understands this:

"I might have a little quickness on him, he's probably got a little more strength and power on me," Belichick said. "I don't think you'll see either of us out there making any blocks, or tackles, or runs, throws or catches. At least you won't see me doing that. It's probably a good thing for our team."

SEATTLE (AP) Marshawn Lynch's 67-yard touchdown run that clinched Seattle's upset of New Orleans in the first round of the NFL playoffs may be remembered for more than the half-dozen or so broken tackles.

It shook Qwest Field and the ground around the stadium - literally.

John Vidale, director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, says that a seismic monitoring station about 100 yards west of the stadium registered seismic activity during Lynch's fourth-quarter run that clinched Seattle's 41-36 victory.

Vidale says he was inspired to look at the seismic graphs after watching a video posted on the Internet from the upper deck of the stadium and noticed the shaking as Lynch completed his TD run.

Vidale says the shaking lasted about 30 seconds and then faded off for another minute.

He's so fucking tough to listen to. I really think he believes his talk is the difference, or at least a big factor in some of the wins they get. I wish he'd realize he won most of his "big" games bc he was a better coach, not this asshole shit. Think about his playoff wins too, Cincy, SD, and Indy this year. All horrific coaches, one aided in a HUGE way by the coach/qb they have in Manning. He can't take care of it all though, especially with such a banged up team.

The fans are even worse, so bad Mark M on the WFAN last night literally told a few off on the air and went on a diatribe of how he never hated the Jets, but coach and fans are making it so.

On WFAN this morning, Joe and Evan claimed this was LT's best playoff game ever and the only good game yet. I love how a guy gets banged up twice at the end of the year as he turns 30s he gets this image he's afraid and never did shit.

I guess his 23 carry/123 yards/2 TDs & 2 catches / 64 yards day (187 total yards) at New England doesn't count because put up 99 total yards against Indy's awesome D!?

While I on the other hand would argue not much is out of the ordinary, as the crazy run itself was the thing out of place that year. Eli and the Giants have pretty much been consistently around 8-8/10-6 with very similar type teams.

How am I going to criticize the guy after he comes back from not playing organized football for 3 years, shocks the entire world, and turns what most people including myself thought was going to be a 7-9 season into one of the most exciting Ive ever seen?

You act like I was on McNabbs back since Day 1. I preached patience with him. As painful as those losses to St. Louis, Tampa and Carolina were, I still stood by the guy and had faith hed get it done. But eventually you have to open your eyes and realize what youve got. In time if Vick doesnt get it done Ill feel the same way about him.

And he doesnt get less slack for having recievers just like McNabb didnt for having a Top 5 defense in his playoff years.

Besides, right now one is a starter and the other warms the bench for Rex Grossmans backup.

I thought this was too funny. Read this in Peter King's Monday Morning QB on SI.com.

" "F-O-L-K! Folk, Folk, Folk!''
All over New York, scenes like the one I'm about to describe must have been playing out. You see, the Football Night in America studio crew was dismissed after halftime of the Jets-Colts game, and so Rodney Harrison, Dan Patrick and I adjourned to a midtown Manhattan bar for the wrap party a little early and watched the last 10 minutes of the game on TV. Big Jet crowd at the bar, obviously, and Harrison had fun with a few guys who I believe were into their 11th Goose Island IPA when we arrived. And with 2:45 left in the game, the Jets punted to the Colts, who started a drive at their 20, down 14-13. Adam Vinatieri calmly practiced kicking a ball into a net on the Indy sideline.

"Your season's over!'' Harrison said, and the Jet fans knew what he meant. Peyton Manning, 80 yards to go and two-plus minutes left? Uh-oh.

"Watch Peyton,'' Harrison said to me. "This'll be a work of art. I played against this guy seven times, and if he doesn't score right here, I'll jump off the Sears Tower. And if he can't get the touchdown, Adam will win it with eight seconds to go. I've got two Super Bowl rings because of Adam. Amazing guy. Never worries about anything. Never saw him nervous.''

And it played out just like that -- with one unforeseen problem. With 62 seconds left and
at the Jet 32, Manning had a third-and-six. He rolled right and picked out Blair White (the wrong guy, I thought), who was closely covered just beyond the first-down marker. Manning threw it anyway. The Jets had two timeouts left. A perfect throw would have converted the first down and allowed the Colts to run the clock down to the single digits and call their final timeout so Vinatieri could do what he was famous for -- make a winning kick in one of the biggest games of the year. But just like everything in this Indianapolis season, the throw was a little off. A little low. White tried to scoop it in, but it hit the ground. Incomplete.

Now the clock was stopped. Fifty-seven seconds to go. Vinatieri drilled the 50-yard kick, making it 16-14 Colts. "Rex,'' Dan Patrick said to me plaintively, "beaten by a foot.''

But even though people in these parts trust Nick Folk to make a field goal the same way they trust Mayor Bloomberg to clear snow, this thing wasn't over. And when Antonio Cromartie, in the underrated big play of the weekend, returned the ensuing kickoff to the Jets' 46, throats got very dry in Colt-land.

Harrison stood up and looked over at the Jets fans. "Your season's not over!'' he yelled, and those guys sent over beers for us. "

I've never seen either happen like that and I've watched for years with the package since it was out. I'm sure it happens so much that the refs almost fucked it up too right?

Also, the tuck rule is hardly known now, it just was hardly ever fucking enforced until that huge play.

It was called in a Pats/Jets game that very year. Only it benifited the Jets

December 2 at New York Jets:
The Jets bullied the Patriots en route to a 13–0 halftime lead, but the Patriots stormed back, scoring 14 third-quarter points en route to a 17–16 win. During the game the Jets appeared to lose a fumble to the Patriots, but the fumble was reversed based on a rule that would become controversial in the subsequent playoffs - the Tuck Rule.

"An ass----.

"---- him."

"In this country, you're allowed to have opinions," Ryan said. "As an organization, we have respect for Tom Brady ... Am I going to punish Antonio Cromartie? No."

Ryan escalated the war of words from the Jets toward the Patriots on Monday when he took shots at Brady and said the playoff game was a "personal" match between him and New England coach Bill Belichick.

He was asked if the incendiary comments show respect for the Patriots, a team he called "the enemy" this week.

"There's plenty of respect, but we don't have to be all lovey-dovey," Ryan said. "A guy makes a comment -- big deal."

I dont have a problem with anything he said. Its nice to see an athlete be honest. If thats how he feels about Brady and he wants to say it, he shouldnt be punished for it. Although I do think Bradys gonna try and light them up because of it.

How he feels or ridiculous and childish at BEST!?

Sorry, he's the last guy on that team that should be opening his mouth.

If a UPS guy says it to a customer, hed be fired because the customer is paying for his service and he probably wont now. If someone asked a UPS driver what he though of Fed Ex and his reply was "Fuck Fed Ex." I doubt hed get reprimanded. Hed probably get a pat on the back.
.

The comparison would be the UPS guy saying it to the media, in which case, he would certainly be fired. I don't know, it's a stupid comparison now that I think about it. Football players constantly have microphones shoved in their faces, it's not fair to be as critical of what they say as you are on an average person. Still, it was an unprofessional thing for Cromartie to say, and Ryan's response to it was stupid.

If I were the media, I'd start asking stupid douche bag questions on this and other topics bc of this and let him know if he gets all uppity about it. Well since he wouldn't discuss the foot fetish issue with the media bc it was "personal", perhaps Wes thought it was on the table this week since the matchup is personal to Rex and Cromartie got very personal.

Can the difference bt organizations and how they fight in the media be any more contrasting? I say NO! Its been interesting to watch the Jets organization this season. Honestly, I've been really surprised on how Coach Ryan and the Front Office have consistently fucked everything up from a public relations sense.

I couldn't imagine a more subtle response speaking larger with any team pro sports.

The end of the Rex Ryan era in New York, when it comes -- and it will come -- is just going to be ugly.

He gets a pass on this bullshit because they're winning, but I have a feeling he will not be given the benefit of the doubt if the Jets are stuck in the middle of a 6-10 season or something like that. And when that pack of scumbags and jagoffs they've assembled turn on him, it'll get very, very nasty indeed.

Explain how this is classless when is seems Ryan is going old school. (which is sorely missed in this NFL)

ok this is classic tenbatz change the points to fit what he is arguing. When did I, even one time, defend the Patriots? For the 9000th time, MORE THAN ONE TEAM CAN BE SCUMBAGS. Im talking about the Jets and what the Jets have been doing. I never brought up the Patriots being angels. Im talking about a CURRENT event. Stop this nonsense, you arent good enough or smart enough to try the change the topic thing and actually get away with it.

The point is, someone who got the shit beat out of him decided to talk smack and go a bit over the line needed. He coulda got the same message across without sounding like a douche. It shows him to be a moron and have no tact or class. That was the point.

Is it entertaining, of course it is. I never said it wasnt. Is it funny, again, I never said it wasnt.

But in the position the Jets are in, with the things the Jets have done RECENTLY, its pretty fuckin stupid and it continues to make them look worse.

OH NO, SEE, LOOK AT ME DEFENDING THE PATRIOTS AGAIN. Shut up tool, read the things that people say and respond to that, bnot what you want to steer things to cause you know you are fuckin wrong

I dont see anything wrong with talking trash face to face or through the media. They put the pressure on themselves then because if you talk trash then go out and get smoked youre the one that looks bad.

I like it because it makes the sport entertaining. As much as I love football, it offers NOTHING for people that dont love the actual game. Thats why Im all for trash talk and TD celebrations, I dont give a fuck if it costs the team 15 yards or not, I think every player should do them. This way if theres a 15 yard penalty on every single kickoff maybe the league will have to step back and change their dumb rules.

This way if theres a 15 yard penalty on every single kickoff maybe the league will have to step back and change their dumb rules.

but this proves my point. you are from philly so you are a scumbag. My whole point is it just makes them looks like dicks again.

And trust me, im an asshole. If I had cameras in my face that much, id do the same thing. But i wouldnt be surprised when people said it made me look like a douche

I agree and the TD celebrations used to be great. I love when players used to do something with their teammates. These new rules that it cant be choreographed or no other player can join in or that you cant go to the ground... blah blah blah. Blow me, its sports and entertainment. Lets these guys have fun and show some of their talents!

I find a mini-celebration (Ladanian Tomlinson) for an 8 yard gain in the first quarter much more annoying than an over-the-top touchdown celebration.

ok this is classic tenbatz change the points to fit what he is arguing.

Shut up tool, read the things that people say and respond to that, bnot what you want to steer things to cause you know you are fuckin wrong

and if we did get into an arguement about class, at this monent, the jets would still beat anyone. But once again, I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THEM COMPARED TO ANYONE

Why do we even bother at this point? I have plenty of arguments on the board but only two idiots constantly use this tactic and look like fools for doing it. Congrats Tenbats and WF.

To build off of Snoogans point, both teams ARE assholes overall and I used to root the loudest against the pats. For the past two years that fat fuck with a loud mouth and his douche bag players (getting worse every year too) have EASILY made me hate them worse. It's not just the Pats too, it's every team they play bc they have little respect and no class...top to bottom.

And snacks, football and sports is not talking shit and cursing. It it around the sport, but if it defines football to you it might be time to change teams. There is a place for class and respect in football even if you tough guys want it to be all chest thumping and cursing bc "it's football, stop being a pussy". I never heard more wanna-be jocks talking out their ass just like Cromartie. Seriously, is the UFC impact on sports or am I missing something? First off, as snoogans said on the field to each other is completely different then making it about you and acting like an ass in the media. It's one thing to say you don't like a guy or a team, it's another to call him an asshole and say fuck him in the spotlight. If you don't see the difference I can't help you.

As for me, not that it matters in local shit-level hockey, I hardly get into the verbal shit bc we can hit and fight as part of the game. I think beyond most of the players being from Canada and some soft-spoken European countries, the fact that opening your mouth will get you hit and or plenty of unwanted attention from both the refs and players out there just to battle with you.

Cromartie won't have to back his mouth up in this fashion unless someone is willing to take a big fine. Guys like Finnegan are the assholes out there, but at least it's in the game, not some contrived bs to work the media and incite the other team showing little if any class.

All of Rex's issues with the Patriots has been on the field. Hence why it's "personal" (noted the quotes), Rex doesn't like to lose.

Welker started shit with a personal issue, that affects Rex's WIFE. Which is the primary reason Rex isn't talking about it, because the wife is an innocent in all of this.

Ironically, nobody would have figured out it was Rex's wife if he didn't talk shit about Brady's wife being a super model, but that's a different story.

The thing is... this "national story" about Rex is a non-starter. Rex likes feet. Big deal. Foot fetish is harmless, and if he and his wife are into it and have a strong relationship good for them. I was mostly annoyed because they put it on the internet.

trash talking on the court or field is different. Thats man to man. thats how you should say it. If Cromartie told Brady that shit to his face, fine. All this comes off as to me is Cromartie tryin to get some attention without watching guys score on him to get it.

It just shows another case of the jets being the Wild West and letting anyone do whatever they want. The comments are fine, he feels that way, it was honest, he shouldnt get in trouble. But that doesnt mean you should expect people to look at it and NOT think Cromartie is a cock

Yah, that's what he was thinking. I guess I shouldn't question a guy who cheers a broken neck bc it's his favorite team's rival.

Ryan O'Reilly of the Avalanche got his skate tied up with Matt Cullen in a game today, one that was getting completely insane with hitting due to the divisional rivalry and heated games of late, and went headfirst into the boards FAST/HARD. He was taking off on a stretcher and the fans and players in Minny were nothing but stand up. If someone stood up and clapped about his injury he would have stood out like a complete asshole. I see your point but I still cheered because of not only what Irvin represented but how he acted and the team he was on.

It was the height of the Cowboys fame during the 90's when the hatred of them reached EPIC proportions.

So if it happened to Emmit Smith I would not have cheered. He had way more class then Irvin ever did. I never wished death or paralysis on him...just glad I never had to watch him play ball anymore. I am VERY certain I am not the only one who felt this way.
Glad he's gone and not dead.

I am sure at one point or another you wished for a career ending injury to a player (or coach) you never wanted to see on the field again.

Just over five minutes into the middle frame, the Avalanche was killing off a penalty when the second-year center got his left skate tangled with the skate of Minnesota's Matt Cullen and crashed into the boards, his head and shoulder taking the brunt of the contact.

Play was whistled dead and trainers from both teams and arena medical personnel immediately began attending to the forward. Following a lengthy delay, during which the medical team immobilized him, O’Reilly was put on a backboard and carted off on a stretcher.

Insert Justice standing and cheering on the play and during the delay bc the Avalanche bested the Devils to win the 2001 Stanley Cup.
