With massive highways bills passed over the past 10-15 years, 862 billion borrowed from China in a stimulus program, for roads supposedly. Everybody who bought a hybrid thinking that they would save money is going to get hosed too.

Dude - do you stay in a pissed off mood all the time from constantly wanting to discuss politics? I feel you have so much more to offer than political, state and federal government and world events. Just asking...

Whats wrong with wanting the government to stay out of peoples lives in regards to issues like this. Tracking our miles driven isn't bothersome?
I post in the sports threads, but not as much, however those are distractions. Politics affects everybody.

I agree here too. F that technology in the ass and dump this bill in the harbor. Our taxes are already going to this area of concern, we need another one bc it's mismanaged. Fuck that bill, the tolls that never come off the highways ever, let alone when promised and especially this bill.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) this week released a report that said taxing people based on how many miles they drive is a possible option for raising new revenues and that these taxes could be used to offset the costs of highway maintenance at a time when federal funds are short.
They already do this, it's called the fucking tax on gas. When the oil companies can make a reasonable argument that more money on a percentage basis goes to federal and state governments than towards line their own pockets there's a major problem.

Well thats what they are saying. Basically that as people move towards more efficient cars, we still gotta squeeze that extra money they save out of their pockets. God forbid someone try to be environmentally friendly and actually save a few bucks. Fuck this bill. It reminds me of the cartoon Robin Hood where the Sheriff just shakes out every last sheckel he can find.
Next, let's tax how many pounds of food people in this country eat!
