lol you know Opie is still going to throw a hissy fit over this then over the top reaction Jim Norton will jump in while I don't give a shit Anthony scrolls through paltalk text.
It's about time they did this now when you are listening to a channel they don't have to say your listening to (insert channel ) on Sirius 28 XM 52. This is all part of the Satelite Radio 2.0 they have been building up.

They are making every channel the same except for the best of sirius channels and the best of XM channels.
Basically all the music channels will have the same channel number on both platforms. The Virus will still be two separate channel numbers for Sirius and XM they are just changing them.

Alright, who grabbed @105friends???
After going to Sirius' web page, I remembered what a stupid, ass-backward company they are.
There are basically two service options for radio-owning customers: Sirius and XM. To obtain the new channel list, you have to click on the New Channel tab then answer which service you are using and then you can download a PDF. Why can't they just post a simple php page that lists the channels in a quick-downloading, easy-to-read grid? Sirius/XM is changing your channel numbers to make your listening experience easier. Was the channel lineup really that difficult to navigate? When you open the PDF, the channel numbers are not in order. What makes that easier?
* - I am not that serious about these complaints, but Sirius/XM is dial-up AOL ver. 1.5 in a web 2.0 world.

I just cancelled my xmp3 account a couple days ago and opened up online only for my Andriod phone and iPad2. Both apps are better than any of their shitty radios and I get every channel except live sports (which I've never used) for the same price.
But online only doesn't even use channel numbers, just categories. Lucky me.

I have always thought that since sirius bought xm that they should have made all the channels from both companies the same since they are not being operated seperately. If the powers that be were going own xm but let them do their own thing then I can see different channel numbers but if not it doesnt make since.
When I first heard of the change I automatically figured common sense has finally prevailed and this was what they were going to do. Not the case. It seems like a new swinging dick has been hired and just wants to shake things up a bit and the only thing they can come up with is move channels around.
If your not going to combine them and make both uniform then leave them alone.

i believe it's just the best of xm channels. howard is the same as both, because the xm tech can handle a pay channel anywhere and the sirius still cannot (that's why the virus still gets a shit sirius station #). i still don't know why there are best of channels within the same company.

That's not true at all they have been working on something called Satellite Radio 2.0 for a while now and streamlining the channels is part of it. This isn't some great conspiracy to screw over the people who listen to The Virus. They started streamlining stuff months ago when they got rid of separate online platforms. This is just another thing that they have done since announcing Satellite Radio 2.0
Also I read something yesterday that they might be brining on demand like content to Sirius/XM (also part of Satellite Radio 2.0)
Sirius Satellite 2.0 to include DVR-type features
(http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-20057995-48.html)Sirius XM will release Satellite Radio 2.0 this fall, according to a source close to the company. The next generation of the satellite radio subscription service will feature time-shift recording capabilities, increased storage for portable hardware devices, and on-demand content channels.
Because of licensing limitations, you can't record and store Sirius programming in your car. If you miss Howard Stern on the way to work, you're out of luck. But new satellite channels will host popular programs, and make them available for on-demand playback, according to a Sirius insider. That's means the big game will be on when you want it, and you'll never miss an episode of Oprah.
On-demand playback is great for major events, but unfortunately not everything will be available all the time. To catch obscure programs, you'll need to be able to record stations. That feature is possible with some devices, like the XMP3i, but Satellite 2.0 should make that capability more widely available, and hopefully without additional hardware.
Sirius' party line is still that customers want and are willing to pay for a curated radio experience with carefully crafted music program lists. But that tune could change with another potential feature of the revamped system. Satellite 2.0 could feature two-way Internet communication, which could be used to support the so-called personalized radio channels rumored to be included in the next-generation platform. Listeners will be able to vote up or down music they're listening to, and the system will scan all satellite radio channels to queue up music based on their music tastes. And like Pandora, this potential feature could let people skip songs. Right now, the only way to vote on Sirius XM is to change the channel.
Letting listeners choose programs at their convenience should help the company do battle with Web-based entertainment apps like Pandora and Stitcher, especially as automotive manufacturers integrate these free apps in cars. Cable customers have shown they're willing to pay additional fees for DVR recording and premium content. But with so much content available with free apps and the data plan many commuters already pay for, is customization and scheduling capabilities enough to justify the additional $12.99 monthly fee? Stern may be entertaining for an hour-long commute, but he's no HBO.

Bump
The new channel numbers are here, you have to turn on your receiver so it can refresh. If you want to listen to something as soon as you get up in the morning you should turn it on now and let it refresh. It only took like 4 or 5 mins and all my presets automatically switched over.
I figured this would end up being a massive clusterfuck and so far no problems.

It's been so long since my SiriusXM app has worked on my Droid I kind of forgot it was there.
The droid app, the constant knocking off for "inactivity" from the web stream and realizing I am really really tired of waiting for Fez to turn around has drained me of any joy I used to get out of satellite.

My droid app sucked, until I realized that my phone was set to stop using 3G after a certain amount of time, so the app would time out and stop working. Was the phone, not the app.

I got in my car this morning and found that I was unable to tune in the new Virus station and several others. The previously un-used channels (2,3,19,99-114 etc) were just skipped over by my radio since there was nothing broadcast to those channels and now that XM decided to place a station on them, my car could not pick them up.
So I sat on hold this morning for over a half hour to be told repeatedly by a woman who barely spoke English I was the one mistaken and that my channels had just changed numbers. She then hung up on me when I asked to be speak to someone else. Another 25 minutes on hold later, I was told it was because I drive a Toyota. Toyota and Lexus models were the larger number of problems today and required detailed process of button pressing and channel surfing to get the radio to reboot itself.
I guess I cannot blame this on Sirius themselves, more so Toyota, but I still don't see the need to change the channels. Was it really so hard to browse the lineup card and then tune in what you wanted?
