PARIS (AP) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Tuesday that governments need to lay down and enforce rules in the digital world - even as they need to foster creativity and economic growth with the Internet.

I'm against censorship, but governments have a duty to enforce the law. Obviously there's a tightrope to walk there.
Now, when you look at shit like Israel hacking Iran's nuclear program, or even the faggotry Anonymous pulls, and you have to realize there are enormous security threats looming. I'd like to see some action on that front (but I really don't know what trade-offs would be required to become safer).

I'm very against censorship so in turn I hate the idea of government regulating the internet.

Subscribers to four of the UK's biggest internet service providers will have to "opt in" if they want to view sexually explicit websites, as part of government-sponsored curbs on online pornography.
First they came for the creepy dudes.

Maybe its just for "research"
Sarkozy is getting ousted soon by Socialists. Not much chance of this happening unless they can spin it for something about Muslims and Eurabia.
