Lack of respect for other's opinion I'd say. Funny that most of them would never have the balls to say it to another's face but they can be a non respectful ass on the computer.
This place is fun when the ball busting happens but the line has been moved a few miles south of when it gets ugly and mean.
I swear, the younger generation now has such a bad attitude and absolutely no repsect - I blame part of this due to social media and its isolation of actually talking face to face. Damn, I sound like Blowhard now...:flush:

Second, makes sense to me to start this chat here.
Third, Eff 'Em. Not maliciously. Rather, pure pacifism. I mean, if others of unknown origin (let's face it, if even The Company cannot avoid double agents ...) have the desire to ditch on Dot Netters, meh. I say that with relative ease because I, personally, would have to seek out the disparagement. Plainly, I don't see or experience it when I'm here. Plus, this is America dammit! Coolest thing yesterday - While playing golf a buddy was teeing off on a short par 4 (280 yards) with a pond in front of the green. The normal play is to lay up short but he pulled out the driver and was going for it. He didnt hit it great and the ball was headed for the center of the pond. Right when it hit the water it bounced about 40 feet in the air and made it to the green! Once we got down there we all agreed that he must have hit a turtle because there was nothing stationary in the middle of that small pond. He 2 putted for birdie and threw half a candy bar in the pond for his homage to the turtle that helped his score. That hole won him $30.

Yeah, Chris Stanley gets his electricity turned off and you're going to tell him the right thing to do is give the ball up for free?
Also, the ball isnt going on Jeter's mantle, it's going in the Hall of Fame where they will make money off of it. So the wrong thing to do is to make money, the right thing to do is enable someone else to make more money.

Todd Eisenlohr empathizes. He's the "rube" who gave back Frank Thomas's 500th home run ball. He, too, was rewarded with fan-focused riches: meet-n-greet, and an autographed jersey, ball, and bat.
Fun fact: Thomas was ejected later in the game for arguing balls/strikes.

Interesting. Arlington owns the stadium. If I read correctly, Hamilton threw the ball to the fan. That, maybe, is outside of his job description, so the team and Express may be immuned. That leave Josh, who's got deep enough pockets to make a move. Personally, I'm with Mr. B: this was a tragic accident.

Damn, if i could have caught that ball and sold it for hundred's of thousands of dollars. I could pay off my house, buy a new ride and put some in savings.... That goes a lot farther than a signed bat, jersy and meet and greet with the player.

Yeah it was terrible - I didnt hear it but did that kid get the ball his father died for?
Unsure, but I'd read that the guy did, in fact, catch it.
Today, this kid would have put the jersey on e-bay.

The worlds greatest dick move would be if Jeter gets a base hit for his 3000th and instead of tossing the ball into the dugout someone on the Rays threw it into the stands.

Steve Bartman - Notorious! I honestly gave the guy a pass from the get-go. As the ordeal digresssed, I was continuously taken aback by how consistently the fandom hated him. Arguments abound, of course, but I just couldn't fathom letting the blame shift from the field to one fan who was interested enough to be listening to the WGN feed during the game, yet caught in the moment of seeing that ball come right at him. If anyone has ever experienced even coming close to catching a ball at a MLB park, the rest of reality fades to black as you home in on those spinning stitches.

I half way agree with Fez on the dead guy, that's an awful low rail.

Because he interfered with play. Ask O's fans about Jeffrey Maier.
This is why fans at Fenway sitting in the seats behind the Pesky Pole in right need to be reminded not to touch the ball when it hits the wall down there otherwise it's a ground rule double.

I cringe at balls up the line in Citizens Bank Park, its basically a crap shoot. They never look to see how the ump signals they just reach out for the ball. People dont know how to act.

Absolutely, Ron. This "war" took a wrong turn decades ago when NORML and other activists hung their entire campaigns on the med-use argument. Shit! If all of that time, millions of lobbying dollars, outreach, volunteerism, etc., etc., would have been poured into stating the obvious--i.e., marijuana should be legal for consumption, period--rather than taking an angle, who knows. The right way of the world gives passes to honest arguments.
Just say no.

I've never wanted pot to be legalized because the only way that would ever happen is if it was government controlled. The would control the potency which would reduce dramatically from where it is now, there would be state taxes on a pack of joints that were crazy high (no pun intended), and as ron said, the price of 20 joints would be waaayyy more than a pack of smokes.
Reduce the classification of the drug into a different category other than heroin.....decriminalize the drug so you can have a few ounces on you at any time, and make it a ticketable offense. PA stopped prosecuting simple possession charges and the state saved 2 million dollars. its a no brainer.

Interesting. Could be that kids want to go back for nostalgia, irony, sympathy to oder generations. Maybe they even want to go back to an indescript era, and simply "stop" at the Sixties. Going farther back would introduce overt racism, World Wars, McCarthyism, gender inequities, squares, and Doo Wop shit music.
