Eh, I dunno. I don't even really associate the two that much anymore. Ron really doesn't recognize the existence of this board anymore, except in a really negative way. I think it's sort of shitty of him, we're mostly long time and dedicated listeners of the show.

To me the move was to twitter wasn't really about the new platform, but more to do with control. Twitter is just boring to me and it's all over the fucking place too. There he can delete accounts that say anything even close to negative, even if they have a solid point. To me it's so hypocritical too, as these shows on the radio make most of their discussions based on literally destroying people, but a fan site can't poke any fun at guests, topics or the show? Celebrities, sports figures and radio personalities sure have thin skin. Especially those who make a living doing very similar things.

Of course some people are over the line or just unbearable all the time, yet they got their due justice here and the HUGE majority were constructive. If the show promoted the site it'd be just as big as in the past. Notice one thing though, no show involvement and nothing to gain from the site equals no further involvement from certain Admin, Mods and general posters. To me, you see a nicer mix of honest fans in times like this. Or at least less people here with ulterior motives. Some surely left for other reasons, but A LOT left for those.

I agree with everything you said here. I think the people that remain on this site are for the most-part huge fans that find good conversation with people who like the same show they do. I'm happy we don't have the Ron and Fez celebrities, who, for the most part were central figures around shit-stirring that would go on around here. How many "I'm leaving the board forever :(" therads did we have to endure? Those people were just looking for attention anyway. They seem to be the people that flocked mostly to twitter and the cam site (I don't even remember the name right now, lol)

Maybe, I doubt it though. Ron seems to have animosity towards this board. I think he really gets hurt when people don't like the things he brings to the table, specifically when he has people he finds interesting and entertaining on, and people are vocal about how bored they are with them (particularly his friends).

To be honest I think both shows didn't like any negative posts, much less threads as they moved along. The skin got thinner and thinner, to the point where even constructive criticism seemed to get them all riled up...even from obvious fans.

The way it all went down screams your Sirus XM control theory is not the case. It was pretty much put out there they were upset and didn't like certain things involving the board. Immediately people jumped ship as both shows found a new way to totally control the information involving the show via Twitter.

The run was good while it lasted, but the days of great fan interaction is seemingly done and expect to live out the run with the same ubber make it about me at any cost/humiliation fans in studio if any. Even in the old days back then people needed to be the center of attention to be involved. If for any reason they weren't for a little while and seemingly lost their spot in the hierarchy, they just disappeared.

Also, the site never really had a backbone and never stood up for it's members in that it's a forum to discuss the show and more. It seemed as soon as anyone complained the admin/mods went on the defense for the show versus simply stating it's a message board of fans and you always get different opinions. I'd rather see all opinions on my show and weigh them appropriately, versus having my sack licked by fanboys. You can rule out the idiots quite easily and they never really lasted that long. If anyone else had an issue, it was usually very constructive and said person overall loved the show. I see ZERO issue with that or anything this board was linked to. Curtains were pulled at times with certain acquaintances of the show/hosts at times, and I believe that rubbed some the wrong way too. However, it was via this media outlet and others like it that those relationships got established in the first place so you would HAVE to expect people would discuss it. Calling that private isn't that simple based on the possible motives, the past and of course involvement and then lack their of here.

If you're right, and this very well could at least be a part of the equation, then it is truly a mistake.

There is a HUGE difference bt paltalk and this message board at least. Here all are really welcome and there may be favorites but I've never seen anyone destroyed for not kissing the rings of mods or admin. I've been a huge detractor of some bc of their actions or choices in running the site, and most often they just get pissed off at me with no bs move. The story of pal talk seemingly are much different, being that many just get bounced bc they have a dif opinion or aren't in the click. I've never had any issues there in the brief time I checked it out way back when, but it seems to be the feel I get.

Next, pal talk totally DOMINATED the show during that era of the show. We heard the same names, same nonsense and just random discussion as the shows were totally distracted by the cams and simple things like some attention whore showing old men their tits to get their screen name out there. To be honest, it was one of the worst eras of either show to me. I'm not saying it couldn't have had it's place even to this day, but it was a complete clusterfuck at the time and was anything but entertaining to the VAST majority of the listeners.

The board on the other hand was used to set up events, gather the fans and hardly had that negative type impact on the show. Sure there were times when similar attention whores FROM the site infected the show and brought it to a halt at times, but at least it wasn't a daily occurrence and could easily be taken out of the equation. Overall, the board has mainly been an effective tool of the show when used right, but worthless to them currently as they look to other means at the expense of a true fan community interaction for a limited one with total control. If that's what they want it's their call. I think it's the wrong move personally. Yet I'm sure that last post would get me banned on twitter...oh and it would never fit! <--More control and lack of discussion.

Say what you want about old grey balls and night mod, but they both are putting in the time and interact on this board a lot still. They knock off spammers and do things here to help out. I know you have some good comp skills too Rob, but have you helped out with the spam issue here? Any upgrades of late? New ideas to keep us current/fresh? And you may very well have bc I know you're not the one to look for praise for what you do, so I'm truly asking.

I honestly don't see any fixing the situation here, it is what it is. There will always be a core of people who still visit the site as long as it's around. But it'll never be active like it was years ago.

I still check in time to time, but posted less and less. The only reason I was keeping the mod title was to delete spam if necessary, but most of the time when I log in I'm doing it on my phone and that's a major pain in the ass.

It's like when I'm coaching kids on the ice or even captaining my own hockey team, sometimes people step up when challenged or given a push, others fade away. There was not and anger in it past what "could be" and what has transpired. Even our better people toward the top end of this board have either been too far removed to have a real impact, or too much a fanboy to see things objectively.

I personally like many now better than ever, but the far removed label applies to most now and it simply can't be the dominant theme. Even many in the past were great guys but simply couldn't be involved at all. If the board goes down it's current route location overall will mean pretty much nothing. Yet if it's to ever get that old time rf.net feel, and God knows I don't want some ass sucking group as to me V3 has too much of, but rather a bunch of people who can take a joke and dish it out as well. A rather simplistic breakdown, but to me that was the old feel. A bunch of assholes from all different worlds with a similar interest in a few goofy comedy radio shows that would interact with fans on a real level. At this moment, it's a very different feel...obviously.

You had a nice run and I actually have more respect for you now then ever. It has to get old after a while I bet, especially as good people dump out left and right. Still, we need good people to not so much save the site, but at least put out the fires (spam) and head us in a better direction. It may never be what it was, but it surely shouldn't be a fucking mess of bs posts from Uzbekistan and China as the core remaining have to sort through it to find the 20 actual posts they'd want to read.

Seriously too, a mention here or there once in a while by the show and this place is flush with new blood even in the XM days. Yet as some have said, the board even when fully intertwined with the show, truly tops out based on the heights reached by the show. As Fallon states, we'll always have the main core, but that gets stale with no new blood on any board. I'm on plenty of hockey, medical and photography boards out there, and it's the same there as well. Once the circulation of new posters stop based on whatever factors that influence said board, the site eventually dries up.

I know that Ron gives zero support for this board and Fez has disowned us but its the common folk that make this place shine. We need to welcome new recruits with open arms and really try to make this a fun place. It isnt gonna happen by itself. Someone one said that this board mimics the show and thats why it is down but I disagree. We have gathered here because of 1 common bond - the Ron and Fez show but the show only gets us here, what keeps us coming back is the comradery with each other and the great discussions, the interesting subjects and the awesome difference in personalities.

So, I think that we each share a responsibility for this board. Let's try to make it better and maybe soon, so many wont feel bad thinking of the days past but look forward to the days ahead.

I haven't listened to either show since last Sept. Let my sub lapse. It's not the end of the world but it used to be nice to have R&F or O&A there to listen to.

I really think a big blunder that added to the decline of interest in 202 was the lack of programming on the channel. There should have been another R&F replay in the afternoon, more shows on the weekend, a better replay schedule on the weekends etc. etc. When they were alternating Bill Burr, Patrice, Bob Kelly and Lazlow shows on Saturday Nights that was the best time for the channel. The replays were done in order over the weekend so you could listen to a whole show or catch up on shows you missed. This countdown stuff and best ofs on the weekend crap is just awful. Not sure if that's still what they do.

I didnt go through the whole thread, is this about how .Net used to be this fun, family friendly message board again? I hear that so often when those guys call the show. What the fuck does that mean exactly anyway? Family friendy? Does that mean nobody ever cursed on here? Or they didnt argue or insult each other in posts? God that sounds so fucking boring. The last thing Id want a message board I visit regularly to be is family fucking friendly.

The "golden years" of this board, from the outside, were worse then they it is now. it was a handful of listeners who posted here all the time, and everyone else kissed their asses. it was pandering to board members to try to get mentions on the show.

It was also VERY annoying to listen to the show if you were not on the board. i tried to get some friends to listen, and friday nights should have been called "what are the cool kids from .net doing" because that was the show for 3 hours.

I think the best time for the board was when they went to JFK, still fun people, but since no one was listening, less negativity about the show and the people associated with it.

Since XM it has been a terrible on both fronts. the show is basically a shell, as is the board. there is no activity on either, and both are phoning it in. I think this board outlasts the show, and there are still some great people around here.

And anyone who thinks this is a cesspool of negativity is a thin skinned bitch. the reason ron and fez think it is so negative is because it is talking shit about them and their show, but if they put on a better product i am sure it would be more positive. 2 hours of fez's shit charectors with no prep or production around it blows, and ron 100% knows it. criticism doesn't always mean you are negative, sometimes it means you are honest, which is harder to deal with. If either one of those 2 radio professionals think they last 2 years of their show has been even average, then they are so far past reasonable their opinion is not worth listening too.

The situation is great for ron because he can do his side projects, and meet and interview great guests. it is great for fez, because who doesn't want to make 600k a year and pretty much have zero responsibility. it blows for pepper who is doing 3 peoples worth of work for 38k or whatever shit salary he is getting paid.

I agree with some of this, but not all. Personally there was a time where there wasn't this fav mentality in that the show constantly had a flow of fans, new and old with involvement in the show. Times like the Capo shows, others like the boxing shows and so much more. Yes insiders at one point did seemingly take over the show as the NY days were winding down, but there are always going to be people that become close...sometimes it was real, others they were completely fake with ulterior motives and some more just over the top farces that the show liked to poke fun at and surely used for the joke.
