i was talking to my dad about "drag race" yesterday. my sister and i are huge fans of the show. we were showing him the pictures from season two where they made the girls pose with both sides of themselves, the male and female, in a wedding photo. tho he is old school latino in his thoughts about homosexuality, he was totally impressed with the transformation aspect of the photos and the makeup skills required.

LOS ANGELES - The drag superstar who smoked the competition on season two of "RuPaul's Drag Race" was busted for alleged pot possession in Georgia.

Tyra Sanchez, whose real name is James Ross, was arrested Tuesday night and tossed in the Gwinnett County Detention Center, jail records show.

Sanchez, 23, was released Wednesday afternoon after posting bond.

"Arrested over a freakin costume? WTF? Something must and will be done," Sanchez wrote in a Twitter message Thursday that made no mention of weed. "I've never been so terrified."

The Florida native who won $25,000 on the MTV/Logo show was a passenger in a Chevy Impala that was pulled over for having illegal window tint, according to a police report obtained by TMZ.com.

The arresting officer smelled "an odor of raw marijuana" and found "loose green leafy material consistent with marijuana" after conducting a search, TMZ said.

The driver also was arrested, TMZ said, and Sanchez was booked for possession of less than an ounce of pot.

"OMG...I've had the worst week ever," Sanchez tweeted Wednesday after the arrest.

Season 1 is more my jam songwise. I just didn't think Bebe had any character. I guess there are different schools of thought and Bebe and Zahara both had an overall package, a more seamless presentation, but I like more of a personality.

I never thought about wrestling as basically men doing drag as men, but it makes sense. It was a fun challenge and I'm surprised they had to actually choreograph moves instead of just making up personas and cutting promos.




I get kindof annoyed when the judges show such a strong bias, they've clearly keyed into Kenya, who is good, but it also means they're going to rave even when shes lackluster on the runway. Although I did really like the comment "shes like Nicki Minaj without the ass and money."

I really enjoyed The Princess' runway, Billy B is a hard on. And I really liked Sharon Needles edgey glamour look. Princess' lip synch was really really strong, not just the stock drag moves.

I think Kenya is a girl to watch, I think she's going to stay strong.

I also really like Latrice as a guy, not so much as a queen.

Willam continues to look like a guy in a dress.

I thought both of Sharon's looks in the video were sickening, and I liked her runway too.

Dita did beat the princess cold in that lip synch, I think two lip synch's in a row and The Princess just packed it in. It's a shame she couldn't be more of a character, I liked her looks.

I like Phi Phi's wig in the challenge with the black bangs and blonde hair, but the look fell apart after that.

I know they're selling Dita as a body queen but I think she's kindof built like a wide receiver. And Milan shouldn't go sleeveless either, black queens are too muscular up top.

Willam was better this week look wise, but still looks like a guy in a dress.

The big queens have it rough because you cant disguise that male gut in female clothes. It totally fucks up their silhouette. Madame Laqueer needs to go, I was shocked she didn't have to lip synch. I think Jiggly is way better and concealing it but I think everything she does is on a shaky foundation. They're going to hit her weak spot one weak and you're really gonna see a mess.

I think there's a really strong Kenya agenda. The judges have said they like Kenya and I think they protected her a little this week. She got the look in the challenge completely wrong, and her acting was insane. Her runway was eh. They gave Kenya and Milan the same notes on the challenge and Milan had a much better runway, but Milan winds up in the bottom two.

And what they're doing to Sharon is pissing me off. She brought a strong character to the challenge and to the runway but they want to fuck up her confidence. One day she's gonna snap and come out in a look she isn't into to please the judges, then they'll criticize her for losing her POV and cut her. Why are prissy gay men so conservative? "I dont like her name, I dont like her look." Oh get over it Muchnik, you liked it when Meghan Mullaly was a sloppy disaster, you cashed that check.

sadly, it came down to kenya and milan (again). and milan's vogue came out on top. i think kenya's messy mouth work is what did it, but the both had very strong performances.

I'm glad they couldn't ignore Kenya's awful showing and had to stick her in the bottom, but I dont see how Phi Phi wasn't there with her. She had one of the worst runways and her Lady Gaga was terrible. I get the note that Milan was reading as male, but he's doing such an obvious reference that happens to be ambiguous. She should have done Janelle in Snatch Game and probably wouldn't have had to lip synch. But DJ Lance Rock can fucking dance.

I loved Sharon Needles and Chad Michaels this week, as always. And I think Sharon's runway was a little underrated. She really looked like her lips were all pumped up.

well this week it was very easy to see who was in the bottom 2. I'm sad they read altrice for her boots though. i see they have a wide heel. i know latrice wore them for the support and stability.

i was pissed willam won the challenge, and totally agree with latrice and phi-phi. willam madei his boat about self-pride, not gay pride. i can put stickers of myself on boat and walk in designer clothes too. there was no creativity in willam's boat and his outfit was *not original* yeah the clothes were really nice, but that's because he has the money to buy all this high end designer crap.

As you can probably surmise from the series’ title, past contestants — or, the case of Drag Race, past queens — will return and compete in what the network is calling a “battle royale.” Reality competition series such as America’s Next Top Model, Survivor, and Amazing Race have been doing all-star editions for years now.

Drag Race is currently airing its fourth season, and all told, there will be 46 past constants for producers to consider featuring in the new show. The cast won’t be announced for a few months, but one spot on the roster will be chosen by fans, who can log votes on the show’s Facebook page.

All Stars: RuPaul’s Drag Race will air six, one-hour episodes this fall on Logo.

When Santino is on I know Sharon will get a fair shake. I dont like Michelle Visage trying to meddle again. Dita and Sharon's drag POV doesnt jive with hers, and I dont think it's a valid criticism to say "you're not giving me what I expect." Chad does 'dirty' and he gets "well I guess this is dirty for chad."

I'm sure they're up online but I wish they had shown the magazine covers for a little longer.

A surprising weak runway for Latrice. She usually has big class, I thought the exposed chest didn't work at all. And it made her makeup really read orange.

yeah i saw that post on sharon's facebook. it was something like willam had snuck in a cell phone or laptop and was blogging/communicating with the outside during the race.

that would explain how everyone found out about it and was pissed and how willam was so nervous/quiet the morning of performance day.

i wonder if willam's prize (the corset/fancy lingerie) that he won with latrice will be revoked.

Other non willam observations. I get the feeling they had an oh shit moment while they were shooting, like Oh shit this was a really bad idea for the challenge. You're asking the girls do sing live, choreograph to a terrible show tune, play to humor, all in all just limiting what makes them good. I think the judges had it written all over their faces. And Ru must be banging that twink, because the song was atrocious.

Willam and Latrese had a heavy edge. Visually they're the most striking contrast, and they're two of the more talented comedians in the bunch.

I really dont like dropping runway from the format. The girls get stuck in a look that suits the act that they didn't get to pick. Either you let them do an entirely original act where they can work their POV or you make them do the scripted act and then work their POV with a seperate runway look.

I always wanted to sex Jennifer Tilly. But your cleavage really cant go past 90 degrees on either side or it just turns sloppy.

so i was re-watching this week's untucked on the logo tv site and reading the user comments. i know the user comment section of any blog can feature some of the very worst of humanity and shouldn't really be used for anything. still, i ran across some interesting ideas for willam's departure:

1) the familiar one of blogging while racing in the contest/breaking the no communication rule

2) willam was taking hormones (as the reason why she threw up on stage. then again, i remember hearing that sonique was using hormones too. i cant remember if it was during her time at the race or afterwards)

3) willam snuck out for hair removal appointments (maybe because of the constant harping on her 5 o'clock shadow :laugh:)

4) willam was caught fucking a member of the pit crew (i like this one as i think one of the pit crew members, the one they said kept eye fucking the camera, was in one of willam's videos. also, there were no pit crew members on this episode)

5) willam was being paid/sponsored to use all the designer shit she's been wearing (that explains why she's ALWAYS naming the clothes she wears)

That was one of the best lip synchs ever on the show, I really would've been hard pressed to pick a winner. I didn't think Dita had it in her, and when she started stripping down I thought Jesus (biscuit) not again. But goddamn Latrice turned it out.


Chad Michaels runway look was flawless. I'm glad they bought Sharon Needles story, because I didn't, even though I liked it. Loved Sharon in the debate and Chad was funny but I agree the direction was iffy, they pushed them to serious topics then wanted comedy.

Phi Phi is a mess. She was just doing Palin and yelling howdy. I think she's just puppy dumb.

Who comes back? It should be Willam because Willam would've destroyed in the debate, but I dont think they will. On Willam I'd love it to be the Pit Crew rumor but the clothes one is interesting. I think they would've cut around brand name mentions, though. It isn't inconceivable that he could be sponsored, and that would probably keep him out of competition.

latrece's lip sync made my hair stand. i FELT like that voice was coming from her. latrece mentioned in her interview that you had to understand where the lyrics were coming from. she owned that song. imo dita did well, but she didnt stand a chance against damn near 20 years of experience. i was really shocked that sharon won. i thought it was going to go to chad, especially with her awesome 1950s first lady look. and i would be *very* happy with a latrece/chad/sharon top three.

as for the returning queen, i would definately NOT want Willam to return. you cant go breaking the rules that get you DQed and then get rewarded with a free pass to return. that is not fair and would seriously piss me off, as im sure it would the other girls. perhaps a return by kenya, the princess, or even alisa summers (who we didnt get to see *any* of) would be an interesting return.

Some things can't be explained. Besides, it takes very little effort to act like a dude. A man dressing up like a woman and doing it better than most women takes effort and talent! i know it seems as simple as men wearing dresses, but a real drag takes a lot of skill. a successful drag queen has to be a well rounded entertainer. he has to be up on the latest pop culture (in order to incorporate into their acts), has to be funny, has to be musical, has to know how to paint a face that is properly suited to his drag style (and that takes way more skill than you even realize). this is how they make their money. if your game is bad, and you cant get asses in the seats for your shows, you dont pay rent/eat/whatever.

the queens who do make it on to this show are usually hard working and very seasoned veterans of the craft. and no matter what you think about it, proper drag is a craft.

for me, the most interesting part of drag is the transformation (i think ive mentioned that before). i like seeing the guys first as their normal selves. i like seeing their mannerisms, personality, speech patterns, etc. then i see the alter egos created by these men, these examples of hyperfeminity. the characters created are fully realized and wonderful.
