A ways back about 15 years ago I was into the NYC club scene. The drug of choice for me was ecstasy. Back then there was a place on 46th and 12th called the Soundfactory in which I would go for almost 4 years.
Before that I have never even had a joint. I remember it was a summer night early Saturday morning around 3am. A few friends of mine and me 1st went to Webster hall and at the last minute one of my friends didnt want to go home yet so I went along. We get there and the line was around the fucking block. One of my friends knew the doorperson so we cut the line, inside the place at the time you could get a hit of E with no problem. I was reluctant at the time to take it but I was like what the hell and I took it. 30 min later I had the biggest feeling of Euphoria. Not sure if anyone ever took a hit of E but holy fuckin shit. At the time there the top NYC DJ was Jonathen Peters and he would play the most insane house music and people would come back every week. Thats how I was.
Weird thing is that I was never an addict. I mean like I always had to have it when I went but during the week I would be fine without it and my body was fine and I never had the urge to use it just for no reason.

You went to the Factory? I cant imagine you as right winged conservative as you are going to SF? I used to go there but I never did X. Cant imagine wf with a loli in his mouth dancing like a maniac! You must love Jonathan Peters?

Yup and to be honest I loved every fucking minute of it. JP had such a following back then. If we didnt want to go home and still fucked up we would go to Twilo (The original Soundfactory) Junior Vasquez another prominent DJ would spin there.
Had the loli and the glowsticks going
Im really not your typical conservative. While I might have some libertarian right leanings. I think Marijuana should be legalized, have no problem with gays getting married and not religious at all

I used to run black tar heroin when I was about 6 years old. I did it all, killin', robbin', stealin'. Iceberg Slim was right, pimpin' ain't easy. By the time I was 11, I had already done a nickel in Pelican Bay. Got hooked up with Nuestra Familia and The ABs. When I got out, I did some soul searching and started a motorcycle club which you may have heard of, The Pepperoncini Martinis. We started small, protection rackets, small-time gun running. I knew life was moving too fast when I found myself getting tattooed with a Somali Warlord after a night of heavy Khat chewing. I had just delivered a C130 full of other C130's, which were loaded with tanks and shoulder-fired nukes. Little did I know, the Somalis had planned on killing me. Little did they know, I knew that they had planned on killing me, so I killed the warlord with a chainsaw and made a mask out of his face. I fooled his gang for a few weeks with the mask and worked my way up to the top of the Mog. It got old quick and I found myself wandering the streets of Mumbai (back then it was Bombay). I did freelance snake-charming and other acts of fakiry for a while, even though I had a cargo container buried in the Phillipines full of swiss bank accounts and pure cocaina. I eventually settled into my spiritual journey in a local islamic monastery where I learned at least several different martial arts. I journeyed to the snow-capped mountains of Pakistan, fighting alongside the Tibetans there. I married a Swahili princess that was leading the rebel forces. Everything was going good until the local Macedonian street gang pipe-bombed the compound. She was dead, as were all 8 of my children. That's how I lost my eye, as some of you know. I began mainlining a potent mix of opium and nitrous oxide and came to in a Nepalese prison. I built a small empire in the prison by becoming the origami champion. No one could beat me. I even won my freedom from the warden by folding a water lily with 9 leaves. He happened to be an undercover NASA agent who put me to work in the space program. I ran the penal colony on Fiorina 162 and staved off the xenomorph outbreak. After that, I came home and devoted my life to sconce design. And you guys already know the rest of the story.

The amount of K I used to do was retarded. Same with E.
I loved K, though. Great dissociative.

I was very much into the rave scene for many years. I also lived with a pretty major distributor from the ages of 17 - 19. I'm proof that it's impossible to overdose.

I was sitting all fucked up in booking, after getting busted following an epic coke binge. I started choking on something and said I needed a toilet. The guard took me in there, and I coughed out a chunk of congealed blood about the size of 9MM round. I looked up at the guard and said, "That shit'll fuck you up!" No more coke for me.

I had the oppurtunity to do E and I didn't take it. I was at a bar with a friend and we started talking to this guy. He was very friendly and I knew his girl friend so we all ended up going to his house. We smoked a joint and he asked if anyone wanted to do ecstacy with him. I said no, though even if I didn't want to do it I should have said yes and pocketed it. We went back to the bar and he was smiling like a fool and I had a beer and left.
I've done acid twice and eh. It had it's really good moments but it was never great. I'm not rushing to do it again.

I very much remember that scene. The Palladium... Twilo... The Vault.... Limelight... whatever. There was E everywhere, and a bunch of guys and gals would get all dressed up like fags and just have a blast. We would drop E, drink buckets of water, dance for hours... and then we'd roll home with this one group of girls and all hook up. It was a crazy time. We'd all stumble out of the club at, like, 8am. Still trippin balls. Wearing a fuckin' feather boa... shiny pants... smeared mascara... and walking passed guys who wearing suits who were clearly on their way to a dayjob. They'd look at us like we were losers, and we looked at them the same way.
We'd all pile onto the LIRR and head back to one guys house. We'd pair up... fuck a chick... jump in the pool... fuck a different chick. All of this would happen in front of the rest of the group. Nobody flinched!
The best part is... we would NEVER mention it. Not a peep. Not a word. We'd talk on the phone during the week about work. We were in a band, so we'd talk about rehearsals and whatnot. Then we'd do two or three or four shows at various bars around Long Island and CT. Then... after the last show of the weekend, we'd change into our club clothes, go to The Tunnel (or whatever) and do a handful of hits... go home and fuck these chicks (who were fans of our band) and swap out and fuck some more.
It was a good summer.
A few years later, cocaine entered the picture... and we all went down different -darker- roads.
But MAN that was a powerful summer.

I was never big on drugs. Alcohol was always my thing. While my friends were smoking joints, I was setting a corner record by drinking 7 45oz Colt 45's in a sitting. Not bad for 17. When I did eventually try pot it did nothing for me. The first few times I didnt feel it, then after that the couple of times I smoked it I just stared at the wall for like 3 hours. Made the friends I smoked with a little uncomfortable.
I did try E once and it was amazing. I was on vaca in South Padre Island, I met a girl who happened to live about 6 blocks away from me in Philly. I couldnt believe it. She was hot as fuck. The day I met her she was wearing a leather bikini. So met up that night at one of the clubs (theres only 2 on the island) and wound up going to this after hour rave type place. She scored E and we both did it. Wow. It was amazing. That night she wound up having an orgasm just from me sucking her fingers. It was ridiculous. But when I got home I never did it again. Probably because I didnt really know anyone taking it or selling it.

I can't compete with Chigworthy or Fezident but I can relate some experiences.
I was living in Seattle in the early 80's and saw a lot of great bands. Lots of folks were changing around before they either became popular of faded. I guess I am about 10 years older than most of the previous posters on this thread. I saw early incarnations of Pearl Jam, I saw Duff while he was still a Fastback (great band btw)
We did acid at the time, mostly blotter. some liquid if you were lucky enough to have a connection. Smoked a lot of pot, mexican cheap shit and Hawaiian. I grew my own for a bit, for use and to sell. There was a lot of coke going around at the time. A lot. Every now and then someone would come around with a block of "hash" which to me was a waste of time. Too much sniffing and inhaling a tiny bit of smoke for very little buzz.
The bar we used to hang at in the Pioneer Square area was a long two story tunnel in an old brick building. Smoke would waft and unless the cops were called we were all self-policing. I saw so many great bands at the time, the Dead Kennedys, the Chili Peppers, DOA, Subhumans. I even saw the Plasmatics, though at a different venue.
It was hardcore punk that I know originated in NYC and took about 3 years to make it to Seattle. It was a fun time. West coast punk was different from east and the Canadien bands were more tied with the British ones than the local ones that were more tied with the LA ones.
Everyone did coke, the beer and smoke was just a sidelight though a few of us did acid. I remember playing pinball machine with tall punk guy at the time and a real estate lawyer, all of us just zoooming, except Joey (not Ramone) was slamming but had leather armbands slid up to cover the tracks. We were snorting at the time, serious folks were slamming.
One Christmas I got a nice bonus and got some of the good stuff, went into the bathroom and slammed some primo stuff with a hot punk chick. She was fucking great, so hot and so fashionable. Found out why she always wore long sleeves. I only slammed a couple of times after that and finally saw the error in my ways. This girl was beautiful, but not interesting in fucking. She pulled up here sleeve and her arm was just blue. Once you get the taste of the good stuff there can be no turning back. I started tapering away and decided to leave it alone. I had a friend,a very intelligent guy that really got lost in that and would slam anything someone would give or sell him. It was awful to see him go. He came in one day, in simple punk attire, leather jacket with a newspaper under his arm and blood dripping down his sleeve. He never noticed the droplets coming down his fingers.
Of course there were a lot of folks that were musicians and business owners that saw this behavior as well and just "led the life" while not partaking. It still surprises me when I see someone I used to hang with that is still around.
This went on for me for only about three years though I did a lot of pot as a teenager and other shit that was typical for that time frame since I graduated HS in 1977.
Forgot to mention that Exctacy came around about 10 years after I quit taking stuff. I was intrugued but I have never tried ti.

I moved out of NY back in 2004 came back for a couple of months then left in early 2005. Are there still mega clubs around the city? I know Sound Factory turned into Pacha, I know Webster Hall is still there not sure what it's like anymore. Is club EXIT gone ? Exit was another place we used to go to all the time. I know Limelight and The Tunnel are long gone so where do kids go nowadays?
I had some great times back then but I'm way to old to go out to a club at 2am stay up until 11am doing ecstasy and ketamine, Then doing it all over again the next weekend. It was fun but that shit if for the young. I guarantee there are still some people who are in the early to mid 30's who are still going hard in the club just like they did when Sound Factory was in it's prime.

Im out of that scene. Pacha is still around. I went for a friends b/day at a place called Hudson Terrace across the street and at 11pm saw all the pill poppers heading into Pacha
Webster hall was never really a place to do E for most of the people there. The limelight is still there, it was given some new names but now its not evan a club anymore

I actually have these two Live Sound Factory Jonathan Peters CD Box Sets somewhere in storage. I need to find them they are very rare I've seen them going on both ebay and amazon for hundreds of dollars, I think I paid maybe $25 or so when Tower Records was around. They are so rare I can't even find mp3 rips of them on the major private torrent trackers. Both of them were awesome Box Sets, I would listen to them all the time.
