This is for wine, but I would assume it's the same for all :
Thanks to stick-in-the-mud buzzkilling state legislators, wine may only be delivered to the following states:
Arizona
California
Colorado
Connecticut
District Of Columbia
Florida
Georgia
Idaho
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Louisiana
Maine
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
Nevada
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Ohio
Oregon
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Wyoming
If your state's not on the list, you're out of luck... for now. Keep up with the ever-changing laws over at ShipCompliantBlog.com, and/or sound the alarms with your state assembly person through FreeTheGrapes.org. Meanwhile, all Federal, state and local laws are complied with in providing this wine.

I think the shipping of alcohol is the rub. Best bet is to make friends with the manager of a particular department (beer, wine, booze) at a high end booze store and have them order for you.

I think getting wine can actually be a little more restrictive, since so often you're buying directly from the vineyard. Some states only allow sale through a distributor.
I think you can buy whatever you want, as long as you pass through the proper middlemen.

If you want wine, try winewoot (http://wine.woot.com/). You can't really shop, as it works like the regular woot site. But if it's anything like woot, you'll get some good prices, and shipping is always very low.
