Opie's view of attendance is silly (NFL draws more because it has less games). MLB has like double the games of the NBA and the NHL, but they almost double up both of those leagues per game (30k vs 17k for both the others). Other than 4 MLB teams, every team outdraws EVERY SINGLE NHL TEAM. The fucking Pitt pirates average 3k more than the Blackhawks, the top drawing NHL team.
Yes, I know this in turn is simplistic as the stadia aren't the same sizes.

I've changed my opinion about Sam Roberts. I hope that he becomes something big someday as he really has worked for peanuts and for free for so long to try to make it in radio. He even is really trying hard to promote the sponsors.

I think the issue always comes down to that position. That position pays that much money, and no matter how good you do it as long as that's the job you have they wont justify paying you more than peanuts for it.
To get their due they have to move on.
I think if you dont like Ellis today was a good day to hear the other side of him, he had a really solid appearance that showed he's really working on his style, and not just being a loud guy.

I haven't listened to Ellis for almost a year now and from what I undserstand he has a new band. But the guy is funny and his music is actually pretty funny and good too.
This is his first band taintstick. They tour and he puts on Ellis mania which has been on Fuel TV. No arguing, the guy is talented.

They cook up a regular pizza with cheese. After its done they throw extra (cold) cheese on top of the hot pizza. Opie was talking about some place on the island that does that. When I would visit my cousin in college every pizzeria up there did it. Kids went nuts for it.

It doesn't add up for Jim, because he doesn't avoid comedy altogether and his music taste is the same way, he's got blinders on about everything he isn't obsessed with. I think thats just the way he is but he doesn't want to cop to it. I get not wanting to see the big special your friend is doing, you cant seperate his craft from how you feel about him personally, so why put yourself in that position.

Because they listen to his layman bullshit opinions on scientific things (that he read on some crazy online websites), and shit all over an expert like Dr. Kaku. Or snicker like little schoolgirls while he is on phone...

He hasn't had any opinions about the scientific things he's brought up. I don't think he ever does to be honest.....mainly its him saying, "Hey, have you heard about this thing that's going on in quantum physics? its pretty mind blowing, check this out" and then they watch a vid of some scientist doing an experiment or he brings up an article that he read about some new discovery and they talk about how crazy it is.
The making fun of Dr. Kaku part is hilarious because he is kind of a weirdo because he is so smart. they actually complimented him by saying its hard to talk to him because he's so incredibly smart and you feel dumb asking him questions that in comparison to his knowledge is like a primate trying to hold a discussion with you or I.
I think people that don't like Rogan just plain old don't like him and can't really pin point why.

Not from crazy websites or fringe lunatics... genuine scientific theories and principals that he even admits is kinda hard to wrap your head around, but is still very cool to learn about.
Today he was talking about the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle... which he didn't name but I knew what he was talking about. He also talked about the Double Slit experiment - very cool and wild stuff - all explained in books that are made for the non-mad scientist; by Kaku and Brian Greene.
I love when he talks about it, and a lot of times I hear something new - then look it up later. Learn something new every day.

He's so off on the pharm company angle, as they make billions off their products regardless. It's a setup for other to profit via the distribution of said drugs, bc in reality only a few mid/smaller comps make the drugs in question at this point. Not to mention most are generic and cost little. The value is on the fucking street. The docs are the ones trying to make old timey doc money and not be held accountable in any way as they flood the streets with dangerous drugs in most hands, not to mention ruin a shit load of lives.

I agree with most of this, but he DOES in fact tie in the crazy website and fringe lunatics to it all plenty. He seemingly scours the net for stories and finds plenty and dives deep into said subject while in drug stupors and plenty of times sober. Just bc he ties them in or smokes pot it doesn't really destroy the fact plenty of his conversations are rooted firmly in science. Sure some offshoots from sane topics will go too far into his guessing into what was or will be, but hey, it's just a hypothesis in the end and he makes that clear.
I got to see the North Pacific Subtropical Convergence Zone while out in Hawaii for a month on my honeymoon. Trust me, it's not only real, it's beyond sad and scary at the same time. Some of the outer atolls, islands and reefs of Hawaii are already effected in major ways most will never hear of...yet. I made it a point to get out there and take a look, and it was so surreal to be so surrounded by beauty for so long only to come upon this fucking BP-like disaster hidden out in the middle of the north Pacific. And like Rogan said, there are many more like it out there. It's the plastics on the microscopic level that hold the biggest risk overall, as fish out there continue to eat it thinking it's egg/larvae (their food) and competes with/blocks out our normal microscopic flora and fauna on the surface of ocean water around the world. The effects of greenhouse gases is monumental.

It doesn't detract or confuse the kids that someone got a first place trophy and someone else got a much smaller participation trophy. Then, they're acting like a mercy rule is something new.
Their big thing today was saying how you need to learn its ok to lose, then they went off on the uproar about the kids burning their third place trophies. Burning the trophies was exactly what they should have railed about. These kids were not learning how to be good losers. They were being taught to win at all costs and you're a failure if you don't finish first (the attitude they somehow tied into NYU suicides). Just very inconsistent logic overall.

Yeah I think they're full of shit too, and thought the same thing about 'this isn't new, they had participation trophies in the early 90s when I was in little league.' At the age when everyone gets to play you're teaching them fundamentals, not real competition. When you get into real competition the participation shit doesn't happen any more. If learning to lose would've stopped delicate kids from killing themselves then why aren't kids killing themselves when they lose at a young age? It's really misguided.
Well, they didn't want their third place trophies. You mean like a bronze, you dumb shits? They give out third place in the olympics, these kids were either making a statement about their expectation vs. outcome and making a gesture to succeed at a higher level next season, or they're ungrateful little assholes who are too entitled to lose. Neither of which has anything to do with a loserless culture.

yea, that pissed me off. He's complaining about not being able to pay his cell phone bill, but he's paying $900 more in rent than he needs to. He could find better deals on either side of the city. Brooklyn, Bronx, Hoboken, Jersey City. If you're too concerned about your image to move out of the insanely expensive city, than don't complain about paying bills.

Yeah, didn't Dave say he paid like $800 for his place in Astoria? Plus, eric is married. If Troy was married he'd be able to afford something similar. Not many single people can afford a house in the ny area.
Also, we pay a few hundred less than that for a really big 2 bedroom in a nice area of the Bronx. Homeowners I know think even that's crazy compared to what they pay for their homes.

What is it that New Yorkers think that they won't be able to do in any other place? I always hear people say that it is so great because everything is at your fingertips. I've never hear of anything magical that only exists in NY, other than 50$ cigarettes and the inability to drive anywhere.

I understand that mentality when people are talking about the difference between living in the city or hundreds of miles away, but I hear people that live in the city say the same thing to people that live in North Jersey. I can go to the city any time I want and I pay hundreds less in rent for what would be considered a massive single bedroom in the city.

There is just an abundance of everything here and so much stuff is always open. Being able to walk out my door and have everything right there is an amazing thing. I've lived in other cities, but NYC is just different for some reason. The other boroughs would probably be similar to Manhattan (especially parts of Brooklyn), but there's just something to living in Manhattan, at least to me. And if you're into nightlife shit like he said he was, Manhattan is probably the place you want to be.

I don't know that Troy is as into the night life as much as he forces himself to go out and get DJing gigs to supplement his paycheck. He was complaining pretty good about not getting sleep for the next 2 1/2 days because he HAS to go DJ somewhere so he can make rent/pay bills. He wasn't saying he hadn't slept because he went out and had an awesome night at some club that doesn't exist anywhere else but NYC. He wouldn't have to do that if he moved out of the city, but still lived close to it.
He definitely sounded like he was saying that he'd rather be getting some sleep before work in the morning than being forced to take on these gigs because he doesn't make what E-Rock makes, yet he still chooses to pay 1900 in rent every month. I really can't have any sympathy for a person who complains about money while they're living entirely too far above their means.

I understand that NYC is different; every city or area definitely has it's own character. I also understand that there are a lot of cool things that may be unique to NYC. But there are reciprocal unique things in any area. I might not be able to get a michelin star dinner after 1 AM here, but I can drive five minutes up the road and get a 3 michelin star dinner after seeing only one traffic light, then drive 20 minutes to walk under the redwoods. I can drive 20 minutes to the coast and get Dungeness crab fresh off the boat, or go a little further and get top-notch Hog Island Kumimotos fresh out of the bay. I can load up my quad and be riding across ridgelines in an hour and a half. I have to deal with about 14 days a year that are over 90 degrees, and about 14 days a year that are under 32 degrees. Every New Yorker I've ever heard starts bitching about the heat or the cold about 3 days in.
I guess what I'm saying is that I understand that NYC is a great city and has it's own character, I just don't understand why people think that it has everything available, because no where has everything.

There is definitely a mentality of "if it's not in NYC than it sucks". Ever try to get a friend who lives in NYC to come visit you in Jersey? It's fucking impossible. The mere suggestion of leaving the city for a night out drinking is just insane to them. I think people who live in Jersey have the same problem though too....I have friends that live 30mins south of me and they won't drive up to hang out unless someone else will tag along for the ride.

You're both right and here's why. What has been a running theme in the last few years across 202? How shittily the support staff on satellite radio are paid. Who does all the work get dumped on? The support staff. So, while O&A pussyweep about how stupid the company is for not paying Dave, or Sam, or whoever they pile work on them.
So, is there a general half assery about best of's, production, contests etc? Yes. Can I really blame guys making like 30k a year on a 12 hour work day for cutting corners like they were making paper snowflakes? No.
Oh, I had never heard it before but Jay Mohr as Seinfeld saying "When a white woman wears a wig to an office everyone assumes she's sick, but black women..." Cracked me up hard.
