I'm Wrecked!

I just got home from having my 16+ year old Lab put to sleep. Our kids , now grown, grew up with him, he use to swim with them and climb out using the ladder, like people. He drove them crazy with his instinct to get everything out of the pool. He was my buddy, I thought I was ready, I thought I could take it like a man, I was wrong.

sorry to hear man. pets really are part of the family and losing them are tough to deal with. my golden retriever, who lives at my mom's, is 13 right now and i'm dreading when that moment comes.

Losing my old english sheep dog (FUCKING AWESOME pup) was a real tough experience to say the least. It's never easy as dog's are crazy furry balls of unconditional love. They all have crazy quirks like what your pup did with the toys in the pool too. That's fucking funny shit and remember all those fun times/things to help bring a smile to your face. It sucks the lifespan of dogs, but we all realize the time eventually comes even if there's no real way to prepare.

it does scare me though of late, as one is about to be 13 years old in Feb and the other is 8 and usually not as healthy as the older pup

I'm sorry man. I know how terrible it was when we put downmy dog this summer. I would say it was one of the worst weeks I've ever experienced. I now it doesn't seem like it now, but things get better.
