I said it was pretty decent. Probably the best since Prince's. It wasn't overtly awful like all the others have been.

Black Eyed Peas, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, these were atrocious. Madonna was just her normal self.

Bruce was atrocious? What is wrong with you? It's widely recognized that Bruce's set is probably Top 5 super bowl performances of all time. It's Bruce, U2, Prince, MJ in some order.

Madonna was meh. You could tell the leg was bothering her, but she gutted it out.

One thing I did like about Madonna's performance, they didn't have that awful "people hired as extras to look like adoring fans storming the field" that most of these halftimes have. It was, from a technology standpoint, very cool to watch. The projected graphics and morphing stages reminded me of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

I don't like Nicki Minaj or MIA or LMFAO or Cee Lo, but it was a servicable half-time show.

Next year, do AC/DC. Please.

Parcells won SBs with Phil Simms and Jeff Hostetler. They make even old Eli look like a HOFer. And however good personnel Parcells had on D he never had the D lines that Coughlin has had. So I still say Parcells.

One thing from the end of the game tonight that could be an issue in the future: The Giants 12 men penalty from the last 15 seconds. I think in late games you could see teams throw in extra guys on D to run the clock down. You get to defend a play with extra men and you are essentially trading anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds for 5 yards.

I don't think the Giants did that purposefully (I certainly hope not) but it did work out in their favor. And I'm sure plenty of coaches were paying attention. I think they need to increase the penalty in certain situations.

Of course, its a moot point now that they won..

The Giants line up for the 2-point conversion .It's 21 to 17.

If the Pats will have 57 seconds left on the clock , but HAVE to score a touchdown to win, 2 points or not...

Why didn't the ball carrier take the ball from Eli and run like a bastard for THE PATRIOTS end zone. I can picture him running serpentine like Adam Arkin in the In-Laws , and burning up another 15-25 seconds on the clock .If they even tackled him & made him fumble, it wouldn't count as its a 2 -point conversion ,and I don't think they'd retain posession . Because , technically, the clock wouldn't stop until the carrier was tackled or had a score . He could have even looped around and ran back for the conversion after burning up time, so the refs wouldn't get hinky on them .

...Or is there something in the rules about this??

It would have fucking hilarious if they did it though

So a couple of things:

The giants Too Many Men penalty - although the 12th man didn't look like he was there intentionally - would have been the smartest play in the world if it was intentional. My father even said, "Shit, put 15 men on the field!"

There's nothing in the rules about putting time back on the clock. And awwwww, Belichick was beaten by strategic chicanery? My heart weeps.

Im kidding of course. Ive come here to say congrats Giants fans. Especially Snoogans, who really knows his football. You guys deserved it.

But man the last 2 Super Bowls you guys were in I have never seen one team catch so many breaks. Im not saying they were lucky, they definitely couldve won without them and every team has to catch a break or 2 to win a Super Bowl. But watching every fumble bounce right to a Giants player and watching the Pats receivers drop pass after pass when it him them right in their hands was just surreal. Between these last 2 Super Bowl wins and the Buffalo Bills Ray Finkle job Im convinced Wellington Mara used to murder hobos and sell their souls to the devil.

Also, I know it would never happen but that punter shouldve gotten some MVP consideration.

But from here on out, Id really like a few things from the retarded portion of Giants fans. These are things Ive read on FB and Twitter:

1. Please stop acting like the refs were against you in the Super Bowl. You sound ridiculous. Both teams had almost the same amount of penalites and yardage. And the no calls were good no calls. Not because they werent called, because if football is played the way it should be, it shouldnt be called. Seriously I cant take one more person crying about the stupid pass interference call that never shouldve been called anyway.

2. Give Tom Coughlin at least 3 years before calling for his job. And stop telling Eagles fans to be thankfull for Andy Reid who has won NOTHING for us, while you guys have 2 more rings. If anyone should be thankfull for Andy Reid coaching the Eagles, it should be you, not us.

TripleSkeet

Also, Tom Brady deserved better than this from his team. The fucking defense sucked a dick as they have all season. Didnt give up a ton of points but basically let the Giants rack up yardage and time of possession for most of the game. His running backs fucking blow and his wideouts let him down. How the fuck is Deion Branch still his #2 receiver in the year 2012??? If I was him Id go to Robert Kraft and demand some fucking help. And after all this hes still better than Peyton.

I've been thinking about this.

Coughlin engineered two of the most improbable runs in NFL history. I can't remember a coach who's gone from "He's gonna be fired at the end of the year" in late november to hoisting a Lombardi that same year.

Parcells was more dominant during the regular season and then carried that success into the post season.

I think it breaks down that you can't consider one coach better than the other because the game, the opponents, and a lot of other factors are different, even though "only" 20 years separated the two wins on each side.

The weird thing is this:

2 Super Bowl wins got Eli into the HOF. But it won't get Coughlin in. He'll need three.

A LOT of coaches have multiple Super Bowl wins and are not in the HOF. Yet Marv Levy is.

2SBs plus 2 conf title games with the Jags.

1 broke up a perfect season.

He is def in no question.

Not only that coughlin has done it twice
Wait... So he did it four times?

What hurts Jimmy also is he was pre cap with a STACKED team.

Hell Barry fucking Switzer took his same team and won..

Barry fucking Switzer.

Parcells gets hurt because he retires then comes back, maybe the voters aren't convinced he is fully done yet, which is most likely is.

21 yards more, but still, he shouldve made it.

For the longest time Ive heard that from Giants fans. I think its because most of his career the Eagles have usually handled the Giants well but man, that shit can get annoying.

This might be crazy, but at night, WFAN's signal MIGHT be strong enough to get down to you. On a good night, WFAN's signal can hit North Carolina.
As it turns out, I could pick up the Fan fairly strong in some areas, but it got very staticy sometimes. In the end, I was able to pick up WCBS 880 very clearly with only moments of static. And I made it home to see the last five minutes on TV.

WCBS's signal is almost nearly as powerful as WFANs. You lucked out because there's not a lot of interference around 880 where WFAN probably got some from 610.

Stupid question when I was thinking about this today... why didn't you just listen on SiriusXM?

I gave up on XM about ten months ago. I was only listening to R&F, and I was listening to recorded shows. Not live. It made more sense to go for the Audible deal.

Well also parcells has progressingly got worse

Giants ... Won 2 super bowls
Patriots ... Made but lost super bowl
Jets ... Made but lost afc championship
Cowboys ... Made but lost on divisional playoffs
Dolphins ... Not as coach but made and lost in wild card

That's what I meant when I pointed out Matty's comment about "two most improbable runs". He didn't actually say they were calling for his job both times, but I think he implied that. Therefore, if there were two improbable runs, that were done twice, it means he did it four times. I was being silly.

Johnson built and developed that Cowboys team. HE STARTED 1-15.

As for Switzer, he did not take the same team and won. 30% of the starting lineup from the 2nd Johnson SB team was not on it.

He basically developed three HOFs in the Triplets. Are you kidding me?

Just remember something:

Coughlin didn't throw the pass to Tyree.

Coughlin didn't throw the pass to Manningham.

That's why Eli is going in, and that's why Tom needs another Super Bowl win to get in.

I'm not discounting his work with the Jags, but he needs a LITTLE more.

Youre really going to give Barry Switzer credit for that Super Bowl??? Really??? He inherited a team with a HOF QB, a HOF #1 WR, arguably the greatest RB of all time, AND brand new aquisition HOFer Deion Sanders. Plus Moose Johnston, Jay Novacek, Darren Woodson, Charles Haley, Leon Lett, Darrin Smith, Russell Maryland, Brock Marion, and the entire offensive line with the exception of the center.

I couldve won the Super Bowl coaching that team.

Oh ok. Yea he definitely did. Jimmy Johnson knew talent. It didnt hurt that he came from Miami and they were loaded with his kind of guys. I remember an interview Aikman did where he said Jimmy Johnson called him up and said "Be worried. Our lives are about to change. The Eagles are going to draft Jerome Brown."

As an Eagles fan it was tough because I LOVED The U and Dallas had so many of them that I couldnt help respect and like them a little back then.

Unlikely, and here's why:

JJ built that team in five years. FIVE YEARS. He got Aikman as a rookie, Irvin as a second year, and drafted Emmitt. He might have not been able to keep it together after five years, but still would have 2 rings in a very short period of time.

What helped him IMMENSELY was the Walker trade. But he still developed key talent.

I just want to see Nicki Minaj lose her clothes at this point. The chick has tits and ass for miles!

Oh, and I would watch that Smash show if Katherine McPhee still had tits. What the fuck happened to them? She used to be stacked, but now it looks like she's barely sporting a B cup.

Okay, back to the SB talk.

It don't make a difference. Eli isn't so much better than Rivers that it makes up for Norv Turner, AJ Smith and the rest of that team. And for most of their careers Rivers was better than Eli.

but stats mean nothing. just because rivers had better stats doesnt mean he is better? maybe eli being there would have gotten them over that hump? from what many say here winning is huge and maybe eli is just a winner and rivers isnt? maybe eli on sd wins 2 super bowls and rivers on nyg they dont win these? that seems to be the belief among some?

Teams win Super Bowls. Teams and coaches. Phillip Rivers has had spotty teams and horrendous coaching. Besides, Eli was average in that first Super Bowl and still won it because of the D. Ben Roethlisberger is a great QB and he was ATROCIOUS in the first Super Bowl he won. There's too many variables going on.

Let's not act like the Eli of this year was present at any point other than this year. He has been over his career a very streaky QB. This is really the first complete season he has put together. And he rode the D to his first SB. He played well, not crazy, put the team on my back great, but well. It's not like he has a long history of putting the team on his back.
