Why do you have to help your daughter pay off her loan?

And what the hell are we doing in the Listening thread forum? Did Dave Ramsey finally get his golden ticket?

Other then usually these loans usually have parents as like a co signer so if the kid don't pay the parents do
Either that or he's just offering to help

Well I get that and it's great. But I don't believe in it. I ended up with about the same amount in loans and am paying it back on my own and don't have a problem with it. My wife did the same and just paid her loans off. Although we probably have the means to save for our son's college, I don't believe it is the job of parents to pay for their kids' college. Again, I am not judging anybody else for doing it, but I don't get it.

It's hilarious that some people need an explanation as to why a young woman in her early 20s who just finished school and doesn't yet have a job needs help dealing with $80K in debt.

Well if you paid attention, you would see that I found myself in the same situation (sans vagina). And it's not like you have to pay it all back at once. The government loans are quite flexible with their repayment plans. I was just curious about his reasons because we seem to have differing opinions on this issue.
Anyway, glad you apparently got such a good laugh at it all.

my 1st guess is she went to WPU and I would assume did not get a marketable degree. Also, why let her live there if you already live in nj? not like it is some awesome party school

I'm almost done paying off a loan for a degree I got in 2009, but I didn't stay on campus. Boarding costs are what makes the debt so big. Also, paying a little along the way goes far.

I graduated from Willy P in 98 and owed 15 g's and I thought that was a lot ha-ha. Crazy expensive.
It's true about the cost of living on the grounds, I lived on Campus one year that was 70% of the loan, the other three just rented an apartment off campus with friends. That is the way to go.
