olympics are weird. its not your full national team for the men. Its under 23 guys plus 3 exceptions. Hence why Giggs and Belemy were runnin around for Team GB. 2 teams from our confed made the olympics. Mexico and i think Honduras.

The fact we couldnt even qualify for the olympics doesnt bode well for our national team in 5 years or so. I cant imagine Honduras is that fuckin good that we couldnt grab the 2nd spot if we really wanted to.

I think though, the future is still bright because Klinsmen has brought in alot of guys that were never part of our team and a few US nationals that are actually from Germany which is gonna help. i know a couple guys were hurt like aguedelo. i think brek shea didnt play either. And hopefully kilnsman has a few other internationals to sneak into the US team from Europe.

Things are on the turning point though. Soccer is far and away the most participated in sport in the US by kids now. Alot of teams are building youth academies here, including some european teams. They are partnering up with MLS teams also, almost as a minor league for their young guys to come on loan and get pro experience, so that will help us get better. And more immigrant children starting to get older and having children of their own will help. In 10 or 15 years we have the potential to really be a beast in international soccer

Its really sad too cause boxing is fuckin fantastic. I know MMA is huge now and i actually enjoy when i check it out, but dont follow it. But boxing is special. Too bad it sucks

3rd reason is politics and promoters and how the fuck there is no set commission to tell guys who is fighting who and ranked where. It became a mishmash of bullshit and you never get the fights you should get anymore.

and the final, and i think the most underrated reason why is TV. Boxing has moved to HBO and Showtime and PPV and thats bascially it aside from scrubs here and there on ESPN or Telemundo. Anyone else remember that when tyson bit off holyfields ear, that fuckin fight was on ABC. Thats why everyone used to watch.

Why all the Suarez hate?

wow, i forgot you are so new to soccer.

mainly its because, earlier this year, Suarez apparently used a few racist terms on the pitch toward Patrice Evra during a Liverpool Man U match. He called him a fuckin black monkey and did monkey sounds to him. He ended up suspended for 8 matches. The first match back was, of course it was, against Man U. In the pre game handshake, Suarez refused to shake Evra's hand even though Evra held it out and didnt say anything at all. After that all the English fans started to kill him everytime he got the ball, even at times in Anfield during home games for Liverpool.

But, to go a bit further back, its also cause the 2010 World Cup. When Uruguay was about to give up the winning goal to Ghana, Suarez ran in and smacked the ball away with his hands on purpose right before it crossed the line. Its a very very big dick move to intentionally use your hand to stop a goal when you arent the keeper. It got him a red card, but turned the entire soccer world against him even though ghana missed the penalty and it ended up saving the game for Uruguay.

Between those 2 things, and other dumb shit he has done in the past to other players and dirty tactics, etc, he is just generally hated everywhere except Uruguay

MMA (Mainly UFC ) is everything boxing used to be. There isnt 100 different champs because the bottom line is, the UFC champ is the only one people recognize. Anyone could wear a belt, but the fans basically dont give a fuck. If youre not a UFC champ, youre not a champ. Youre minor leagues. Even with that monster russian (I cant remember his name for some reason) that refused to join the UFC is just kind of ignored now because he refuses to go to the big leagues.

They also let their fighters fight. They let them fucking bleed everywhere. They let them get knocked the fuck out. HARD. Boxing rarely does that anymore. Fights are constantly stopped. I get you want to protect the boxers but if thats your main concern, DONT FUCKING BOX. Im paying to see 2 guys punch the shit out of each other. I want violence. Blood. Brutality. Knockouts. If youre not gonna give that to us anymore, well just switch to the UFC who will.

european handball is fuckin AWESOME. Its like half soccer half basketball, its quickly becoming one of the more awesome things ive watched.

I love that they have full match replays online, even though most of them dont have announcers. I like no announcers when i understand the game but if i dont fully know the rules, its nice to have some guidance

the tax is because the USOC pays what they call an honorarium of $25000 to an athlete that wins a gold medal. the medal itself isn't taxed....it's the income they get from the USOC.

if you are watchin a replay of an event on nbcolympics, there is a button in the bottom left of the video next to the volume control. you click that and it will automatically back up the video like 7 or 8 seconds to insteant replay something that just happened

The person who wears a different colored jersey is labeled "Libero" (aka back-row specialist or DS) which is a special term for the one player on the team who specializes in back row passing and defense. The person is usually a shorter and better passer or defense player on the team. They can only play back row position.

A different colored shirt is worn so referees can track the libero going in and out.
