A couple of weeks after she gives the nod now most of the Dems are on board

thanks for repeating everything

i just gave that GOP example

and even IF your reason for SSM support was right, all you would be doing is showing Hilary as having a great impact for something good and shouldn't even be an issue, much less a need to be a focus

I just find the whole timing odd. Blue dogs like Heidi Heidkamp and Bill Nelson switching over so quickly

Look at someone who's not in politics like Jay Z. After Obama voiced his support for it last year , he came out to endorse it. He didn't all of a sudden evolve. He saw Obama support it and it was the trendy thing to do

Dick Trumka supporting SSM? Come on

By what metric is the American healthcare system superior to any healthcare system? We spend more on private health insurance and public health insurance each compared to what other countries pay. We lose something like 100k people a year to preventable deaths and our mortality rate is increasing: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/04/04/this-map-of-americas-health-is-pretty-terrifying/

Those worst off areas are all areas that are anti-worker which means most likely no one will have insurance or be able to insure it.

WRESTLINGFAN
04-08-2013, 02:41 PM
Of course our current system is flawed. It needs improvement but not Obamacare. But is it all that bad? Hell you can swim across the Rio Grande push out a couple of anchor babies and not pay a dime. People can drink themselves senseless in East LA but they can get their stomachs pumped and get top quality service and have those gringos foot the bill

Furthermore we are subsidizing our own demise. Billions given to Monsanto ADM and propping up hi fructose corn syrup

Syd
04-08-2013, 06:21 PM
Monsanto is the reason why food is so cheap. They're an unmitigated evil, but they're a necessary evil. We've managed to escalate food production despite ever-worsening climate change.

The federal interstate highway system is over 50 years old now. Major upgrades are definitely needed here. The problem on occasion is we're building new roads without giving priority to refurbishing existing ones.

I have no idea why the "pro-life" people (who only are pro-life when you're a fetus or a vegetable, between those two times go fuck yourself) think that wall-to-wall coverage of this Gosnell story would help them. If anything, it just shows the need to expand availability of pre-natal services -- including safe abortions. But the same assholes foaming at the mouth about this story want to kill Planned Parenthood's funding.

There really aren't any political movements out there with less actual credibility than the "pro-life" assholes.

Gosnell was performing these in Philadelphia. So there was access to prenatal care. Furthermore abortion is not going anywhere. Whatever goofy propositions some of these pro life politicians come up with will be struck down.

Instead of sidestepping why not focus on what Gosnell is accused of.

A lot of these babies were minorities and Gosnell is black. If Gosnell were white this would be national news. Doesn't fit Sharptons and Jacksons agenda.

U.S. adds 165,000 jobs in April, lowering unemployment to 7.5 percent

WASHINGTON — The US economy added a solid 165,000 jobs in April, and the unemployment rate fell from 7.6 percent to 7.5 percent, its lowest level since December 2008, the Labor Department said Friday.

The better-than-expected monthly jobs data also showed much stronger hiring in February and March — data revisions showed 114,000 more jobs were generated than originally thought in that period.

The job gains were all in the private sector, as government continued to shed jobs amid tough spending cuts.

But the overall number of people counted as officially unemployed was little changed at 11.7 million.

Let's see what Bernanke has in his bag of tricks.

Buying 85 billion in MBS is inflating the stock market bubble, however the economy isn't as fortunate.

Dow rockets past 15,000 for first time after lastest jobs report

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose above 15,000 for the first time Friday following a solid US jobs report.

At 1429 GMT, the Dow reached 15,000.54, up 173.96, or 1.17 percent. The rise followed a US Labor Department report that showed the US economy added 165,000 jobs in April, well above market expectations.

Yes, but capitalism runs out too. You can't have unlimited growth in a world with limited natural resources. Probably sooner than "the debt" will matter as well since we're less than 2 decades away from more severe water shortages by anyone fed by the Colorado river, we're about to poison the Ogallala aquifer so a few Canadian companies can make shale oil more fungible (if we don't simply use up the aquifer first) and states like Georgia have to go to court to dispute land so they can get water rights.

But, hey, debt bad.

Completely. Even if minority turnout regresses to the mean, the share of white voters has dropped so steeply that the only thing the GOP can hope for is anything on Benghazi to stick to Clinton. The GOP is approaching it to make money. There are competing organizations with no unified data. OFA is approached scientifically and most of the people involved with the actual sciencin' of voter turnout are people who aren't in it for the money.

Syd

OFA is a voter turnout organization. It can be used to attempt to sway legislators but ultimately it's about how much it costs to buy each person during non-election years.

Individual donors no longer matter and once VRA is dismantled, voters no longer will matter in House seats. That's about the only thing going against OFA -- it isn't about fundraising.

There's a lot of scamming going on with the tea party groups, so it isn't necessarily a bad thing they're looking into them. There's some group out of Arizona that wants to build a monument for someone, long story short they're looking into $250k worth of donations for a $50k project.
