so he's already written himself into the script, you might be onto something.

why would he sell it ?

He's nearly completed his spaceship and he's getting ready to leave.

The 4.5 billion will help him complete his hyperdrive.

This is actually great news. Anything that takes control away from Lucas is awesome. Can't wait for the reboot. Maybe they'll go the pirates route and make a new Star Wars every few years.

I don't understand the fear and worry, either. There's nothing Disney can do to the franchise that actually effects the life of any human being. There is no harm to be caused. If Disney turns Luke Skywalker (yes, his name is actually Skywalker) into Mickey Mouse and makes it a bestiality porn movie, it will literally cause zero harm to anyone on the planet.

I'm excited about the new sequels.
"episode 7" is the story I always wanted to see. It's the story everybody wanted to see. Nobody particulary cared about the CONCEPT of the prequel trilogy... much less a poorly executed one.

Along those lines, (and for lack of a better place to post this)
I strongly disgree with Ron's clueless opinions about Star Wars and "fanboys". He is woefully out of his depth when it comes to this topic. It's one of the few times that Ron actully comes off as an all-out idiot.
I've listened to the show for over 10 years, and I've heard him do his (anti) fanboy/Star Wars jag many times. And he STILL doesn't know which end is up.

His arguement, such as it is, is that fanboys are drones. Sheep. Lemmings. They're idiots who blindly consume whatever their master George Lucas provides for them. If George Lucas slaps the word "Star Wars" on something.... ANYTHING... we will shell out money for it and we will like it.
Then... when those same "lemmings" finally DO see the product, and we DON'T blindly accept it.... Ron has disdain for them. He resents them for turning their backs on their master.
Fans simply want what we want. And what we want is GOOD product. We want(ed) something that made sense. Something that felt like a continuation of the original trilogy. The vibe. Something with the same basic tone.
When George added more goofy puppets and cartoon creatures to the special editions... NOBODY was excited by that. Nobody was happy that he added those elements. When he extended the musical numbers... nobody was happy about it. And fans expressed their opinions. When the new trilogy was released.... we didn't just blindly accept that product. We WANTED to love it, but it didn't meet our standards.
Sometimes a comedian bombs. Sometimes your team plays like shit. Sometimes a movie sucks. George Lucas created a trilogy that sucked... and the fans reacted.
Why is Ron so hell bent on bashing the "fanboys" for being blind worshippers AND ALSO for not simply blind worshipping?

I guess it culda started with Luke as obi wan guy training new Jedis and they create a new bad guy and new hero prly Luke's son

the movie is based on a series of books that have LONG been written and the scene is actually set, not being made. i'm sure it'll be dumbed down and adjusted for the masses as opposed to staying true to the form.

Start fresh.
New story lines and concepts is definitely the way to go.

Disney has enough pressure and scrutiny to deal with and that's without the added comparisons to the series of books. "The book was better" is built into almost every review of an adapted film.
It's best if the new creative team succeeds & fails on their own merits.

spoon
11-01-2012, 09:37 AM
disagree, even if they won't ever capture the feel of the book completely, but as you state it never happens

do your best with it as they did with eps 4-6, and you can't go wrong

watch clone wars (cartoon) for a better, less childish take on the material too

funny it's a fucking cartoon but done SOOOOO well

serious on this too

it's done quite well

voices, animation, story lines, character development and yes, violence/death

no bullshit shooting first or terrible dialogue as in the past few movies

down to it, the clone wars cartoons shine much brighter than the movies for quite some time

Look. Rock music from the 60s and 70s is decidedly mature and adult. Science fiction is immature and childish.

Its easy

We can safely assume that the films will be original stories and not adaptations of "Star Wars" novels, comics, or games. This is kind of a bummer. The Admiral Thrawn book trilogy by Timothy Zahn is highly regarded and would make a compelling series of films. However, according to E! Online, the new films will be based on original treatments written by George Lucas.

The Wrap spoke with Dale Pollock, author of the Lucas biography, "Skywalking: The Life and Films of George Lucas." The author, who interviewed the director at least 80 times for his book, says that while he was doing research in the 1990s, he was allowed to read the outlines to the 12 (yes, 12!) stories.

Looks like you're right and man that doesn't seem like a good thing to this guy. Lucas wrote 12 stories...LUCAS!? and in this frame of mind!? Sorry, not good.
