Life Of Pi.

Saw it yesterday.
Truly an EXCELLENT movie in every way.

The movie, which is seemingly boring at first, is simply a fantastic piece of story telling. The first section of the movie eases the audience into a safe, somewhat uninteresting life of the main character. His life is not special. No different than you or I, really. School... work.... clumsy attempts getting a girl to like you... etc.
But when the middle act comes, you're right there with him. You miss what he misses. You just wanna get back to that comfort of your simple "boring" life.

While Pi is afloat in a lifeboat for days and weeks and months.... you're totally with him.
It's a very intimate movie, and yet it addresses large themes.

This is NOT a "the book was better" situation.
The movie really really delivers.

I don't think it's doing all that well at the box office, but.. I feel quite sure that when it hits HBO... you're all gonna hear a lot of people talking about how amazing and enjoyable and well-made this film is.

A rare treat indeed.

One factor will determine if I decide to watch this or not someday. Does the tiger die in the movie?

If so, then I'm out. I can watch people killed 100 times over, but as soon as one animal friend dies, I'm a mess.

I doubt he dies from the way the trailer shows them but u nvr know

The lives and the spirit of every animal in this film is treated with respect.
I am a fanatical lover of all animals, and even though some of the animals don't survive the movie to the end... it is not unbearable to watch. There's a naturalness to it. A reason.


I think my deep love for animals is one of the main reasons I loved this movie so.
In this film, perhaps more than any other, you really connect with them.
