The thing that really bugs me in that pillow commercial is "you can WARSH and dry them, just like your favorite jeans."

I hate when people say warsh, and you shouldn't be drying your jeans you should be hanging them up.

It keeps them more comfortable. Like how after you wash/dry your jeans you have to break them in a little again? If you hang them instead of drying them they're soft right away and dont shrink.

He was speaking generally about the kinds of people in strip clubs.

Although he might have had anthony in his mind's eye.

Lunacy. Much softer out of dryer then hung dry. And jeans are preshrunk for the most part; maybe you're just getting fat?

The thing about selling out doesn't matter or selling out doesn't exist anymore, I dont really agree.

So Rock dudes are outlaws because they were white drop outs rejecting their parents and the 50s status quo. They wanted to be artists who didn't care about making money. Ironically the parents wanted steady lives because of two world wars.

Fast forward to hip hop culture, which we're probably coming out of now but had been living in since the 90s. Hip Hop dudes grew up poor, so their form of rebellion was to make a bunch of money. That's how 'selling out' got ok, and entrepenuership is still big in rap.

So, it is possible to try and make money in an acceptable way and do the same exact things to make money in a different context and have it being selling out.

The heat of the dryer like tightens up the weave or something, because they break back in so it isn't exactly shrinking.

But I've seen both sides of the mountain and I'll never put my jeans in a dryer again.

No Doubt was more that California ska fusion thing, thats fine. And later No Doubt was a lot more aware of dance hall than their contemporaries.

Reel Big Fish is a third wave ska band, so anyone who complains that they dont sound like first or second wave ska bands will just sound like a dope.

He belongs on MSNBC or Politics channel.

Kinda - buts its hard to write what I mean correctly. The redskin issue gets me fired up because of the way social media has evolved, seems like people just pile on an issue and they don't have a vested interest at all. I think that is what bugs me more. I can understand that American Indians might and do feel upset about the redskin name but I want to hear that from an American Indian not chuck klosterman.

It can be frustrating that everyone decides to take a side on everything and then it instantly gets so heated. And also people will basically have the same argument over TV shows, Music, Politics, and Social issues just with the words swapped.

I think this is Ron's ideal guest. A guy who just writes think pieces about sports, music and pop culture all day. Ron cant have George Plimpton, Gore Vidal and Buckminster Fuller on like he really wants, this is as close as he's gonna get to his dream format.

I get the feeling that's pretty much every room Chuck has ever been in.

The problem with a guy like Klosterman is he made a living doing what everyone does now on the internet for free back in the early 90s in print. Basically just being a culture critic.

Well, as an ultra liberal, I take offense. That's what we ultra liberals do.

But really what did he say (other than that the Weathermen are looked up to now, which I'll stipulate is nuts) that was crazy liberal? He definitely comes at things from an academic or intelligensia mind set, and you can disagree with some of his conclusions or opinions but I thought he came off as a guy who wasn't too full of himself but just thinks things through rather than just having a side he'll always defend. Which is kind of what I like about Ronnie B.

I agree with this, although I'd guess Ron would prefer to balance this aspect out with the funny.

There is some truth to what Blowhard is saying: you don't get the same passion with sports teams in some places. Atlanta sucks as a sports town and don't get me started with the Florida teams.

But it pains me to see the Hurricanes have a stronger fan base in Carolina than they did in Hartford as the Whalers.

Transplants. I lived in North Carolina for almost 5 years, and almost everyone I met was from the NY/NJ area. The Whale never had a big fan base because they were too close to Original Six markets - Bruins and Rangers.

And Hartford deserved what they got: they cared more about bringing the Patriots to Hartford than keeping the Whalers there.

I stopped listening to the show, so I'm not sure why you're pained by this.

Hartford didn't care about the Whale, so they moved. They have a better fan base in their new location. Sounds like a move that made sense. And it is a real fan base. My brother and sister in-law still lived down there (they're moving back this summer, thank god), and I went to games when we visited. Passionate fans who understood the game, and closely followed their team.

Oh, and sailor... What was Ron's argument that you related to them leaving WJFK? Was it about the selling out topic? Because it was my feeling that the money they got to go to XM was just a very big plus for them, and the reason they wanted out of JFK was so they could the kind of show that they wanted to do.

Unfortunately, that didn't last very long.
