Uber hipsterism.

realmenhatelife
07-10-2013, 07:29 AM
Who? What?

He was a French pop singer who was really popular in the 70s. And he got into all kinds of music because France was all whacked out in the 70s. He's the actress Charlotte Gainesbourgs dad, and it's strongly implied they may have had sex.

Anyway, so it's a french guy singing in french about New York on a website that posts 90% New York content.

And sadly yes, pretty hipstery although music heads have always liked him.

I think Ron is friends with a handful of new york richers that just want their taxes to go down, so they're republicans who are pretty liberal socially. And ofcourse those people exist, they're just not in control of the party.

The Gosnell thing is nuts to bring up because that clinic was run illegally, so making more restrictive abortion clinic laws to prevent another Gosnell clinic is like liberals saying you need stricter gun control to stop crimes committed with illegal guns.

(not listening live but...)
Drugs are Ron's "go to".
I think he still equates drugs with "being social".
Every single time there's a group (a few interns... guests... ) in the studio, he always quickly turns the conversation towards drugs. Doing them... "let's get some"... etc.

I've been to a few tapings (including yesterday's Tony Hale) of Unmasked and Ron always comes in and says hi before it officially starts. He always makes jokes about "getting some dope and turning this thing into a REAL party". Etc.

It really wouldn't surprise me if there's been a relapse or two that he's never shared on the air. Or possibly... a relapse in his future.

Not true. It is not purely emotional. It is a reasonable conclusion based on everything I have read.

Zimmerman committed homicide.

There has been evidence presented that he initiated the encounter, which weakens his claim of self-defense. And his defense has to convince the jury that it was reasonable for Zimmerman to believe he was in danger of being killed or seriously harmed.

I think it is reasonable to conclude, based on what has been presented, that he is guilty of murder. I also think it is perfectly reasonable to conclude there is enough doubt to acquit him.

not how I understand the "innocent until proven guilty" works in our legal system...the prosecution needs to convince the jury that there is no chance Zimmerman felt he was going to be killed or seriously harmed

that said, Zimmerman should have never put himself in that scenario...but, that is not enough to convict him of murder

not really, but even if he did walk up to this kid and ask him what he was up to, even if he should have stayed in his car, Martin had no right to break his nose get him to the ground, beat his head onto the sidewalk, and then go for his gun. GZ did, by Fla law, have a right to shoot him at the point where he felt he was risking death or great bodily harm.

You're closer than the way I put it. But they don't have to prove that there is no chance he felt that way, but that a reasonable person would not have felt that way.

You're right, the burden of proof is on the prosecution. But if you offer a defense, you do have to argue to the jury that your defense is credible.

By saying this, you're saying you find Zimmerman more credible than Rachel Jeantel. The jury might not feel the same way.

And the only evidence that Martin beat Zimmerman's head into the sidewalk and went for his gun are Zimmerman's statements, which haven't been subject to cross-examination.

both medical experts have testified that his injuries are consistent with being hit onto concrete, they only disagree on how hard, and how many times.
As for cross-examining GZ, the prosecution never should have put his statements into evidence, they allowed him to basically testify without any opportunity for cross.

which is why I said that your wanting him to go to jail was an emotional response, you agree that there is reasonable doubt based on evidence, but you want him found guilty anyway.

You said it was purely emotional, and that there was no evidence to support it. Strong, and incorrect, terms.
The prosecution did present evidence to support their charge. If they didn't, the judge would have dismissed the case.
And I did not agree there was reasonable doubt, I agreed it was possible the jury would come to that conclusion.

there can always be some amount a doubt put out there, but is it reasonable?

i think the guy is clearly guilty here of something other than just being a citizen watch guy doing his duty

yet I don't pay attention to these sensationalized trials enough to chime in fully
