I am a R&F superfan. I never miss an episode. I never miss a minute.
Ron's funny. He's even insightful. But... I never -ever- thought he was as special as people around here do. Especially back in the .net glory days. There was a lot of Kool-Aid being consumed around here.
Ron is an absolute cliché. He is EXACTLY the kind of person who he himself makes fun of. He's a homer.
His taste in music is boring, stale, and safe as fuck. Totally predictable.
His taste in movies is equally safe.

I love his sense of humor. And I love his point of view on things. He comes at things sideways. I like that. But his "coolness" has always been a mystery to me. It's an act... and I see through it. He has clever ways of wording things that make it impossible for him to lose an argument. I see through those too.

I am oversimplifying but the essential cause of the Civil War was whether slavery should survive as an American institution. States rights, political manuvering, et al. all played important parts in how things developed but slavery was the material cause.
