Speculation Thread - New Raw Dog Cast Member

Since we have two weeks to kill with nothing but holiday joy with our loved ones to keep us entertained I thought we might be able to gin up some lively debate (ie. new blood feuds) speculating on the new member of the show will be once it hits Raw Dog Sirius/XM Comedy Hits 99 on January 6, 2014 - Noon to 3:00PM.

What we've been told: Ron spent the better part on a show this week bitching about HR cock blocking his latest nominee to add to the crew. The following day management had apparently been guiilted into approving the hire despite the "suits" being uncomfortable with some aspects of the candidates CV. So who could it be?

Favorites:

Davey Mac - Pros: Fan favorite; can be funny as fuck; plenty of on-air experience; Ron approved. Cons: Would be kind of a lateral move for him unless the Fez situation frees up salary cap space; still crazy after all these years

UCB Fred (Matt) - Pros: Lots of tools which could help branch the show out into multimedia; funny (but not hilarious); Ron approved. Cons: Funny (but not hilarious); seems to have lots of other options; already dinged by mgmt. for "Interngate"

Classic Shelb - Pros: a wise-ass sunnuvabitch; gets "it" and is willing to roll with the bit (ie. A Very Whatley Thanksgiving); Ron approved; those Angelina Jolie lips. Cons: Hasn't learned to speak into a microphone yet; if that beef with O&A wasn't a bit it could have poisoned the well; not sure if he can be more than a DH

Somebody Else - Pros: Ron knows plenty of talented mid-level comedians who haven't blown up yet who would probably be happy to get the exposure (a la Norton); statistically this entry covers most of the humans on this planet. Cons: The Whatley Conundrum (See Below)

Long Shots:

Mikey D - Pros: Good will from WNEW fans; Would be a straw that stirs the Fez; Ron likes him
Cons- More of a character than a comic; not really a radio "pro"; already has a broken dick

Billy Staples - Pros: can be pretty funny; good will from the WNEW fans; already knows that joking with fecal matter is never appropriate (but wasn't afraid to try)
Cons: Health issues?

Paul O - Pros: Fan favorite; crazier that a shit house rat; knows many shit house rats; is willing to take one for the team if Fez's real problem turns out to be blue balls. Cons: Doesn't know anything about movies

Radio Shark - Pros: Long time fan (?) of the show; can cut up sound clips; owns a harmonica; allegedly, owns lots of cool old cars Cons: Would be blind after Ron digs out Shark's eyes with his thumbs before the first show was over.

Wild Cards

The Whatley Conundrum - Can Fez pull it together enough to stay on the Show? If the final week on the O&A channel is a gauge, I have my doubts but a fairer test will probably be the first two weeks of the Raw Dog show. And if he does, will it be in a diminished capacity (one character in the crew) rather than co-host? And does Ron want a co-host anymore? The new format could be Ron as the central figure with him going to the bench to pull out the right role player for the situation. Or is this whole thing a very odd bit? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Dave was a lot more reserved at times than people remember. He wasn't always stunt boy.

And Ron also said he didn't know what was going on with the changes two days before the "announcement". He lies about everything all the time. He made a comment about wondering who the new hires would be, then took the final call from ESD on the show.

Pros: can be funny in a cornpone way which might be a plus for the existing listeners; has lots of high school pictures suitable for mocking. Cons: With this new Pope the smart career move might be to stay put; seems to miss Dana as a comic foil.

I already know behind the scenes but I'm not going to talk about that now aside from what is obvious.
I went up this time to get closure because I knew the Fez situation is hopeless. Maybe the magic key to get him to talk on the air will be to demote him so he doesn't have to talk on the air and then he'll do it but then it will be too late.
The first time I went up last year, I just pushed him constantly into doing things outside his experience. This time I just observed and did very little pushing. He works very hard for very long hours but it's only when an event like the Scrooged trivia comes up that he can put it to use.

The simple fact is he doesn't want to give the show up but he doesn't want to do the show. He is pretty normal away from the show when there is no pressure. Even talking about talking on the air puts him into a panic attack. It's hopeless. Yes, I could push him constantly but it would not last. He doesn't want to talk on the air. Most of the fans are creepy fucks so I understand his sensitivity.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm tired. I've given more loyalty to them for more years than most of you have been alive. I was relieved when ESD came on because I had been doing crazy shit forever by that time and I was tired of it then.
The problem is when I'm on the air I like to play the crazy character because I'll do anything to get a little life in the show. But ultimately, I got the shit end of the deal. I'm tired of it.

As far as me knowing about movies, talk to me sometime. I have seen thousands and thousand of movies but I know that no matter how dedicated I am, I will only scratch the surface. If you have something intelligent to say, I always appreciate it. But don't piss me off because if you think Spoon is ugly, you have no idea the evil shit I can dreg from the bowels of the Earth to bury a cretinous bore. I always try to be sweet and lovable but I have seen some disgusting, lowlife, cruel monsters out there and I've bottled up a lot of anger.
