Travis is secretly the best character on O&A because he's smart, and every now and then just has to pipe in at how dumb they are.
Opie: Paternity leave was never for guys.
Travis then has to point out that by definition paternity means father.

I enjoyed jimmy pointing out that, as hilarious as they thought they were, the guys' quotes for the press release were a bad idea. If only he'd mentioned that they were exactly of the sort of quote that they would rip apart during jocktober, if included in a show's bio.
Jimmy's inane logic is baffling...the callers' logic is even worse

The OKCupid thing: OKcupid is a dating website that distinguishes itself by accommodating same sex matches, something many of their big competitors dont do.
They used their DOS to firefox as a way to publicize the stance of firefox' new CEO.
The site would not allow itself to be accessed by firefox, they're only hurting themselves through the stance and they're happy to do it based on principle. You might have an argument if the web browser was blocking sites based on personal philosophy (although they certainly dont care that web browsers and ISPs already block sites and throttle traffic when sites are financially unfriendly to their business relationships) but this is the opposite of that. I would absolutely bet money that more people stopped visiting okcupid than downloaded a new web browser. And if the story was christian mingle is being pressure by gays to allow same sex matches their argument would be that the commercial enterprise has a right to say what services they provide and to whom.
I'm not surprised that a room full of comedians doesn't understand choosing principles over revenue.
And if you dont want to get called right wing conservatives you probably shouldn't endorse the 'gay mafia' theory.

And a kitchen knife is a tool where a gun is a weapon. Despite the slippery slope arguments people make we all understand that knives will always be around with relatively no risk and do not need any serious regulation, and their design is more or less perfected and there is no convolution of design well beyond purpose like there is with guns.

Gun people are so insane. They make you register them so they can round them up easier when they decide to take them, and it's unfair that the gun owner has to be responsible for knowing gun laws because gun owners are the only people on the planet that are responsible for maintaining their own legality. Now excuse me while I mail my taxes, car insurance, and vehicle registration.

So? They change laws all the time. You used to be able to smoke in restaurants and text while you drive.
The assault rifle thing is more contrived and arbitrary, sure. We'd be better off talking about what is unnecessary in terms of power, rate of fire, and magazine capacity. But it isn't persecution of gun owners.
And the guy who called in to bitch at Anthony about guns is a classic gun owner argument. The guy brings up the gun lobby having too much influence on politicians and Anthony ignores it and jumps right into gun violence stats.
Here is the DJ that "got fired" for playing blurred lines. He was DJing in a bar, the student asked him to stop playing the song, she was bounced from either the DJ area or the bar, started posting about it on facebook, the bar apologized and said they would not use the DJ again.

But it's different in that this can cause you to lose your gun and never be able to buy another in that class again. If I had one of these guns and didn't listen to this show, I'd have no idea this was a law. Like if they added some obscure car rule and if you missed it the first time around, you'd never get a car again. It's obviously persecution, and it's ok if you think it's a good thing, but it definitely is.
On a different yet oddly similar note, they talk about how everyone knows bob Saget is a dirty comic. If not for hearing him on their show or the virus tour, I'd in no way have a clue about his act.

It's not more persecution than voter ID laws, which Anthony is in favor of, except that people actually commit gun crimes while there's no evidence that people are committing voter fraud.
But if you owned a gun or were a gun enthusiast you'd be more aware of the laws changing when it comes up in the news, or I'm sure the NRA and other organizations are promoting the changes too. New York is obviously not a gun friendly state but just because laws are restrictive does not mean that they are actively persecuting anyone. They dont have the federal authority to really persecute.

Anthony is trolling about genetics and East African runners/crime, intelligence and blacks but he's actually making the opposite point that he wants to. East African runners are so successful for a number of cultural and environmental factors, not purely genetic factors like Anthony wants to believe.
And now I'm fast forwarding this race baiting bullshit.
realmenhatelife
04-22-2014, 06:27 AM
If it was genetic then any ethnically ethiopian person born anywhere would have the features that make ethiopians good at long distance running, which isn't the case. This guy was raised in East Africa through his formative years which physically sets him up to be a successful runner, and moving to America doesn't undo that. That's not genetics, it's environmental.
Like how New Zealand has the wolds most successful rugby team. New Zealanders aren't genetically suited to rugby, they have a culture and support system that makes them better at it than most places. But that doesn't come up because most of those guys are white.
