this is completely useless to me, and is nowhere near as well known as the electric
please sir, stop spouting off NPR Radio bits youve heard
whats the next string instrument your going to show me? a 2x4 strung by a patch of pubic hair?
I said "Greatest Guitarist" thread
Not greatest Sitar Harp etc
So what of Rickenbacker Frying Pans? Les Paul's Log? The Diddley Box? Nothing you consider pertinent to your list would exist without these innovations, but I suppose they too are "useless" because they look funny and wouldn't comply to your concept of mainstream.

I would probably say Bobo knows 10X what you know and is not merely spouting off NPR stuff, and its a free country and he can post his opinion
listen guy im sure this is a free country, that being i have the rights to make my own poll about electric guitars not about fucking sitars
he can go off and make "Greatest weird stringed instrument players"
this is completely electric and just by him posting weird fucking pictures of 1920s photos of some guys playing strange instruments doesnt make anything any better
Ill go off of a giant list why your argument is completely invalid you douche
A. I can have 10 People on 1 poll. thats it. If I would have added his 10 random ass people i would have had hordes of people saying "wheres hendrix, vai, santriani and clapton?" shit i already have hordes of people saying even more electric guitarists
B. What gives him the idea that any stringed instrument is the exact same thing as the electric guitar? a sitar and Electric guitar are 2 different instruments with 2 different sounds. It would be almost the same if he posted pictures of drummers in the thread
C. I'm sure he can defend himself and his odd choice of music since he likes it so much. He obviously has alot of knowledge of music. Far more than i Do and Ill admit that but in no way should they be put in a list with EVH Clapton and Hendrix. especially if everyone he has posted so far plays a instrument different from the Electric.

Hendrix is fucking ripping the poll
Of course he is. He blew the minds of Clapton, Page, Richards, and Townshend when he first went over to England. I like all of these guitarists. But for about a three year period of time, Hendrix was the one to watch. Don't get me wrong, these other guitarists had great projects going at the time, but they would also leave Hendrix's performances dragging their jaws.

I'm torn between Hendrix and Eddie.
Hendrix created a whole new sound, something nobody ever heard before AND had great technique. Eddie improved on it but with a lot of help from technology (along the same lines as Hendrix in his day) but as far as PURE mechanics and technique, I'd have to go with Eddie.
One guitarist who incredible but was never that famous and isn't on the list is Yngwie Malmsteen.

I found this article in an old Blues Revue magazine that illustrates that artists don't live in a vacuum. It is about Harvey Mandel, soloist and guitarist to Canned Heat and John Mayall among others: "Yea, that was the 'Shangrenade' album," he sighs. "It's not necesarily my favorite as far as listening, but it was actually the first record to have true two-handed tapping on it. It was long before Van Halen came out, and I know he saw me do it. He (Eddie) admitted it once, that he got it from me at the Whiskey A Go Go. When that record came out, there was no video, of course, so no one honestly knew what I was doing. They just thought I was some jazz guy with unbelievably fast fingers. It's too bad I couldn't put a patent on that."
Eddie just took it to another level.
