Thank god the Sox extended Ortiz' contract during the season. He's way more important than any of the free agents to be (Pedro, Lowe, Varitek).

I don't think they'll even get that far. People keep calling me pessimistic but I've got 30 years of Sox history on my side as proof. The Boston fans will be content that "at least they tried" and they'll call it "another magical run" or "another Yankees-Red Sox classic". BULLSHIT. Losing is losing. I didn't accept it when the Celtics lost to the Lakers during a championship run, and I don't accept it when the Sox do the same in the playoffs.

This has been another tease folks. FOX gets a boner over the drama and the ratings but you know how it's going to end.

When they were up 3-0 the papers around NY were all smiles and fucking sunshine about how this series is a joke and every Yankee was a golden child because they wear pinstripes. Someone made a good point before about the lack of Zimmer's presence on the bench. It's true. No one on that bench looks like they're fired up and ready to play. They've looked like that since they torched the Sox in Game 3. I guess after that 19-8 display, they pretty much decided the Sox had no chance and they could relax. They've been comatose for the last 3 games, and Torre's stone face isn't gonna do anything to change that.
Zimmer's attitude was good for the team. When Willie Randolph goes to manage the Mets next season, the Yankees need to pick up somebody with some flare.

I'm beginning to realize what Devils and Islanders fans felt like when the Rangers won the cup.

Snoog you don't understand. Last year the Yankees fucking OWNED. They had good pitching and good hitting. But this is just fucking awful. I seriously have to wonder if Torre and/or Cashman's job is in jeopardy after this.


This just made me think and it IS really like comparing oranges (Yankees) to really REALLY rotten apples (Phillies). If Cashman loses his job simply because the team did not perform and clinch this series it would be a complete tragedy because the Phillies have the most inept GM who couldn't even make a deal at the trade deadline for the last 7 years and he still HAS his job. I would think there would be more money laid out to free agents in the offseason opposed to axing Cashman and Torre. Then again, I wouldn't put anything past Steinbrenner.

You have to understand, I've spent two years trying to help her understand sports. I've been very, very, VERY patient with her. I try to explain the intracies of the game on a layman's level, etc.

And for her just to turn like THAT really made the situation worse.

That right there is one of the funniest things Ive read in a while.<P> The funniest thing that I herd tonight was from my father IN NY. I called up there expecting my father and my stepbrother to be watching the game. My fathe a die hard Yankees fan, My step brother , just wanting to see the Yankees loose to the SOX. I ring the house and the first words out of my fathers mouth were " Fuck you all!" At first I was shocked and then it took a minute for the laughter to set in. My father NEVER curses. He hates it. But to answer the phone and say fuck you all was histerical!
