Sorry, don't even try that one here.
Let's just go over this one real quick:<br>You're sitting around talking to yourself in a thread, so logically I suggest that people may have left their homes on a Friday night, and your response... "Don't even try it"?<br><br>Are you joking?<br>You're just a big mouth when your team wins.
Oh yeah, GREAT POINT. 'Cuz remember how SILENT this thread was for the entire sub-.500 stretch earlier in the season.

<p>There's a fundamental difference: When they weren't winning you blamed the whole thing on Giambi and gave up in the first quarter of the season (yah yah, you didn't....right). When they do win you post fifty times a second with gay owned pictures and terrible points while manic on baseball overall. As for the Friday night thing, I know exactly what you were saying stupid. It just so happens that it's DOES get real quiet in here on Fridays when they lose, not because you have a life. You're a little shit who still lives with his mother, don't play the "life" card with me, I'll bury you. </p><p><img src="http://members.aol.com/dxixrxt/spoon2.jpg" border="0" /> </p><p>Get your balls out of your purse and step up to flavor! Because proving you wrong is the best part of being alive, I decided to do a little research and backtrack to the last 5 Fridays... In the month of July, the Yankees lost 4 out of 5 Friday games.<br><br>Last Friday, July 22nd, between the hours of 9:00PM and 1:53AM, the only people who posted were you, Snoogans, and Wadd. The Yankees lost that night... Quiet cuz they lost? or quiet cuz it was Friday night? Let's find out...<br><br>Friday, July 15th, the Yankees lose badly to the Boston Red Sox. The only posters around between 9:00PM and 6:00AM: Chuck, Buck, and HBox chimed in a little before midnight... So thus far, it is significantly quieter on Friday nights. It could be cuz people actually step outside, or it could be because "Yankee fans are quiet when they lose." (We already know the latter is bullshit, because this thread was as busy as ever when the Yankees were playing like SHIT for the first 30% of the season.) But I digress, let's move forward...<br><br>Forward to July 8th: the Yankees only Friday win in July. Posts between 9:00PM and 12:00AM: ONE, by Wadd. I chimed in at 12:04 to briefly mention Giambi's slip out of the batter's box, and Melrapuo posted once at 1:19AM.... That was the last of it till the next morning at 8:00AM. 3 posts, TOTAL on the Friday night that the Yankees won... Interestingly, the only Friday that you and Snoogans had nothing to say...<br>So what did we learn today? We learned:<br><br> A) It's ALWAYS quiet on Friday nights, win OR lose.<br>B) When the Yankees win on Friday nights, Spoon and Snoogans are nowhere to be found.<br>C) When the Yankees lose on Friday nights, Spoon and Snoogans are, give or take ONE poster, the only ones posting.<br>D) Spoon talks out of his ass.

Byrd went 7, why couldn't Chacon? And don't even say pitch count this time. He didn't throw any more pitches than Byrd (and Byrd threw 109)... and what is he, 28 years old? There's a difference between pulling a 40 year-old like Leiter after 110 pitches, and pulling a 28 year-old who's thrown less than 100 pitches on 1 earned run.<br><br>Torre's obsession with going to the bullpen prematurely is costing us games. I dunno... older pitchers aside, cuz I think pitch count in those cases is at least arguable. I'm willing to say "fine he's old, our pitching staff is thin, let's not push it"... But today, Chacon got off to an awesome start, only threw 104 through 6, and then his whole game was trashed by our bullpen. Thanks to some amazing late-inning heroics (especially against K-Rod), we were able to come back and erase those 5 runs. But in most cases, that doesn't happen, so why not let the kid go 7 innings?

Senor H-Box. Torre talks alot about "hard" innings. Guys that throw
alot of pitches in a few innings, or pitching under some unusual
stress. This start qualified in both categories. Threw alot of pitches
for 6 innings, and its his first start as a Yank. <p> </p><p>I like him
working guys inside too, but no one's going to tell me Scioscia didn't
tell Byrd to hit A-Rod. Notice its ALWAYS the best player on the Yanks
who gets hit "accidentally" (Exc Giambi, who doesn't even try to avoid
getting hit). I have no problem, and even encourage RETALIATION, but I
dont want to INITIATE this shit. We have an expensive lineup filled
with stars, most other teams dont. We cant win that one. Its like in
the NHL when you send a goon after the other teams star. The last thing
we need is A-Rod on the DL or Sturtze getting hurt in the middle of a
brawl again. Beat em on the field, but if they throw at us, like the
lowlife Red Sox do all the time (And that dirtbag Pinella in Tampa)
THEN throw back. <br />

<p>Wright
threw 65 pitches -- including 39 strikes -- in a Gulf Coast League game
against Atlanta minor-leaguers. His fastball reached 95 mph and was
consistently in the 92-93 range.</p>
<p>Most importantly, Wright reported no shoulder problems after the outing.</p>
<p>"As far as how I felt, I felt good," he said.</p>
<p>Wright said he could make another minor-league start Thursday and rejoin the Yankees possibly by the middle of August.</p>

I dont think he had starts as good as as leiter, small and even chocon before he got hurt and i know they have an insurance policy that I cant imagine not already being in effect. I hate to say it... But with another 2 HR game for Giambi, I'm starting to suspect something. He now holds the record with Mickey Fucking Mantle for the most Yankee HRs in July. I still say he is too honest and has handled the situation too well to go back and start juicing again, but this turn-around has been SO drastic... Within 6 weeks, he went from a complete waste of money to one of the best power hitters in baseball.

<p>See its games like this that dont get to me. If we loose a game because some waiver pickup starting pitcher sucked then so be it, those are the games we should loose. Its when someone from the season starters sucks like RJ, or when the big guys in the pen fail, or when the bats suck that it bothers me. With that said, let see if Leiter comes back with a respectable outing next time, 2 good and 2 bad so far, that pace is the most we can hope for from him.</p><p>Question: if we're in the playoffs starting tomorrow, whos our 4 starters??? Moose, RJ, Al and Pavano? Assuming Pavanos back of course.</p>

<p>This Giambi thing is a fucking joke now. If he is truly clean he needs to step up and have a independent blood test. Enough with making this a feel good story as well. The guy fucking cheated, he's no savior. I pray if he is cheating that they do catch him. Because if they even come close to the wild card or the AL East playoff spots it has truly been influenced by this surge. A surge that has now reached ridiculous heights, even breaking records in a truly storied franchise that is the NY Spanks. If I was a true Yank fan this would surely bother me.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/08-05-2005/news/gossip/story/334629p-285906c.html" target="_blank">When Gary Sheffield opens his mouth, it's never a good thing.</a></p><p>Gary Sheffield has news for Yankee fans: Derek
Jeter ain't the leader of this pack. "I know who the leader is on the
team," Sheffield said in an explosive New York magazine interview set
to hit newsstands Monday. </p>
<p>
"I ain't going to say who it is, but I know who it is. I know who the
team feeds off. I know who the opposing team comes in knowing they have
to defend to stop the Yankees."</p>
<p>
Sheffield, who has a reputation for being prickly and outspoken, doesn't stop there. </p>
<p>
The 17-year veteran blasts the media for hyping team captain Jeter and
third baseman Alex Rodriguez over every other player on the team - and
says the Yankees lack family values, chemistry and trust. "Why
shouldn't I tell the truth?" Sheffield told writer Stephen Rodrick. "I
ain't trying to get no Pepsi commercial."</p>
<p>
Sheffield never mentions Jeter and A-Rod by name, but he told New York
the media portrays the two superstars "in a positive light and everyone
else is garbage."</p>
<p>
He says other players look at the Yankees as a first-class organization, but he believes the team lacks respect for family. </p>
<p>
"It's not a family-oriented team. In L.A., wives can fly on the plane;
with the Yankees they can't," the former Dodger said. "With other
teams, the wives always have functions to bring them together. Not
here."</p>
<p>
New York's media crush, he contends, damages whatever chemistry the
team might have. "This is the first team I've been on where no one sits
at their locker," he said. </p>
<p>
"It's where you build your chemistry from, how you get to know each
other, just talking about life. I'm used to having six chairs around
me, but here if there are six chairs, then there's going to be 20
reporters around me." </p>
<p>
Sheffield, 36, also concedes he's not willing to pull a Jeter and dive
into the stands after a ball. "That's not happening. I tore up my
shoulder, I tore up a knee. I'm not doing that again," he said.</p>
<p>
The All-Star with the gunslinger eyes also told New York he was
insulted when general manager Brian Cashman offered him a two-year, $18
million contract before last season. He ended up signing a three-year,
$39 million deal.</p>
<p>
"I just came off 39 home runs and 132 RBIs and you ain't got nobody on
your team that can put up those numbers, and you ain't gonna get anyone
who is going to," he said. "But George [Steinbrenner] asked me not to
take it as an insult and kept pursuing me. I said, 'Fine, I don't have
to speak to anyone in the organization to still do my job.'"</p>

Testing is done privately, and results are only released if they test positive. We already know that Palmeiro's tests came in positive before his 3,000th hit, but it was covered up by MLB until the time was right. For all we know, Giambi's BEEN tested multiple times and come back negative.

<p>The thing is, there are injuries and problems with pitching throughout the AL East. The Sox's pen is a mess. The Jays are down their top two starters (even though one might argue that Chaucin has been much better). While the Yankees have also had problems, they are the only team that also went out and added more depth and still can't get it together. Say what you will, but good teams make due with what they've got. That's not to say the Yanks are done, but they've got a ton more then even the Sox and still can't put it together. Small is about to come down hard, Chacon will be solid all year, and Leiter surely is an old Leiter. Perhaps you should put Giambi on the mound and point him in the right direction. Oh wait, that doesn't help much judging his nice throw home! Giambi no like lose!!! Arrrrrr!</p><p>ESD, Yankee disease a keeps on spreading! Hand me my pills.</p>

Yeah, Embree did a nice job of hitting the first batter he faced and then giving up the game-winning homerun. At the end of the night, that's all that matters. I honestly am furious right now. Tonight's loss has me absolutely fuming. I haven't been this mad after a Yankee loss in a long time, probably not since last year's post-season. Our starting pitching is literally down to ONE guy (Mussina)... So Chacon comes out, STEPS IT UP BIGTIME, pitches 7 fantastic innings... so our offense decides tonight would be a GREAT night to take the night off. Then, finally A-Rod puts a run on the board in the 9th... the run that would've tied the game, and in all likelihood, subsequently led to a BIG win... But instead, his homerun is in vain, as Alan Embree, a worthless tobacco-sucking douche WHO THE RED SOX HAD ENOUGH SENSE TO REALIZE WAS NO LONGER AFFECTIVE, gave up the game-deciding homerun. I'm mad at the Yankees for shitting themselves at the plate tonight, but moreso, I'm furious that Alan Embree is even on this team... and I know that despite what he did tonight, and despite the SHIT performances he's put up thus far, he's somehow still gonna stay in that bullpen, and probably get another chance to FUCK IT ALL UP AGAIN tomorrow. And you KNOW that despite giving up a 7-2 lead, the Red Sox are gonna find a way to win again tonight. Un-fucking-believable... I need to go throw some furniture...

Okay, Small HAS to have earned himself a secure spot in this rotation. If there's a question of who should come out when Pavano or Wright returns, there's NO doubt it should be Leiter. Small is 3-0 in 5 starts (and would be 4-0 today if the Yankees could've scored a run), and has been very effective. Small could not have done ANY better than he did. He's been lights out, and today solidified that. Chacon has also put up some key performances and shown he can handle the pressure. I don't care how much of a "proven veteran" Leiter is... He's old, he had a good spot start against the Sox, and that's pretty much ALL he's been good for. But unfortunately, something tells me that no matter how good Small pitches in comparison to Leiter, Leiter is gonna keep the spot in the rotation and Small will be sent down or put in the bullpen, simply based on nothing more than NAME. Everything we've heard from Torre thus far is that they're taking Small out... That is simply the most illogical thing you can possibly do right now. Send away Leiter, KEEP SMALL AND CHACON!<br><br><br>*EDIT: Scratch Pavano... They basically just said he's done for the season.

Boy, that was a shame. Bernie's lack of range made
that a hit, and his crappy arm made it a triple. I'm not sure Crosby or
Womack could have run that down, but Bernie wasn't close to a ball that

<p>Come on. There's still almost 2 months to go here, and while
Oaklands been hot, I still think they'll cool off and we'll sneak in
with the wild card. We face them again in September (as well as 2 more
series w/Boston, one to finish the season) and the rest of our
schedule's not too tough. <br />
</p><p>I must admit I dont like our pitching going into the playoffs,
even if everyone's (Except Pavano) healthy by then. In all honesty, I
think we'd definitely lose to the Angels, probably lose to Boston. But
if we face the White Sox in the first round, I'd like our chances. But
that's still a ways off. <br />

I always like leftys in Yankee Stadium, and the Bosox are especially
vulnerable to lefties this year. Stick Wright in the bullpen. He's got
a bad shoulder anyway. Give him light work this year and hope he comes

I'm kinda tired of everybody busting on Wright. He pitched 4 fucking games, that's hardly anything to measure anybody on, especially those who arrive in the Bronx. Clemens wasn't magic in the begining, I'm not saying Wright is of that calibur, I'm just saying 4 games is a little too quick to judge.

But you do not take out a pitcher who has given up like 7 runs in like 20 or 23 innings in Small for a guy that you have no idea what he will do. I mean yea if this was like years before when we had huge leads then yea ok maybe. But we can't be playing these games being 3.5 out of the WC and 5 out of the div. </p><p> </p><p> </p><img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=Kevin2700" border="0" /><br />The strong man is not the good wrestler; the strong man is only the one who controls himself when he is angry.

The fact that Alan Embree is warming in the bullpen is shocking, confusing, baffling, astounding, and inexplicable. I understand Chacon is done because of the rain delay, so I'm not saying he should be coming back in. But I'm saying ANYONE should be pitching in the top of the 6th EXCEPT Alan Embree. Embree has already proven consistently, he is poison to this team. He's done nothing but damage. What has he done that has earned him further appearances on the mound? Yet, a guy like Small comes out and goes 4-0 over 5 starts, pitching 5 excellent games, and he gets thrown into the pen. I guess what you do on the field is worth nothing anymore.

Leiter's stint was ONE game, against the Red Sox. He's basically sucked ever since (so logically, they take Small, who's been brilliant, out of the rotation, and keep Leiter). So I'm willing to bet Wright will be good a little longer than that.

<p>Oakland lost too. So its 4 in the loss for the division, 1 in the loss for the Wild card. </p><p>I
really dont think Oakland can keep it up. I know they've done this
before, start out slow and take off in June. But this isn't the same
team(s) that did that. I think the only guy left from the good A's
teams is Chavez. They're young, they got real hot for a while but I
think they'll come back down to earth soon. <br />

I dont know how to find this out, but this Yankee team seems to have
more power up and down the lineup than any other I remember in recent

61 team last year, and some guys (A-Rod/Giambi) seem to be having
better seasons this year. <br />

favorite just cause the number of games he wins, as he did again last
night, homering to tie it in the 9th and then homering to start the

Perhaps he was pulled at the century mark, but I'm not only talking about Mussina. A lot of pitchers have been pulled prematurely in my opinion, and our shitty relievers blew it. All I'm saying is, you can't always strictly OBEY the pitch count... And tonight proves it. If tonight we said "OK, Moose has pitched 100. He's done," I'm confident Sturtze or Embree or Franklin would've blown it and we would've lost tonight. Pitching that 7th, against the rules of the pitch count, paid off.

<font size="1">And the first question mark in Chickenhawk's favorite post goes to Chacon. Like Hbox stated, he isn't a bad pickup. I just can't believe the Rockies traded him for what amounts to a bag of balls. Chacon has allowed 3 runs or less in 9 of his twelve starts. At Coors Field, those numbers are impressive. Also, in interviews it seems he's out to prove he's better than his win loss record and of course he'll shine in NY bc I fucking hate the Yankees. Why the fuck didn't the other contenders in the AL East and wild card race add a bat or pitching machine to the offer and keep him from the yanks? 07/29 </font>I stand by my post from back in July.
