i hate monday nights, the gym is so fucking crowded. we did chest tonight but mixed it up with low weights and hi reps for 2 sets each exercise. there was no room on the mats to do ab work so we did this shitty crunch machine then i ran 6.5 miles. the end

Up at 6 for an hour in the gym this morning.

thats fucking intense, my dad spins at the Y every other morning at 5:45am. thats just way too early for me to go, i got respect for people that are that motivated.

i lifted back again tonight and kept up with the lower weight hi reps theme for this week. did only 2 sets of throwowns and one 70 second plank for abs. then i ran 6.5 miles.

I might have some new clients starting in the spring that will want to do early morning sessions. I admire peoples resolve to work out early in the morning. I'd rather workout at 10:00pm at night than 6:00 am.

No running for me today, a forced rest day due to a ton of stuff to finish around the house and fighting off the initial stages of a cold.

I usually start my workout with the bench: 8x205, followed by 8x225, then another 8x225 then back down to 8x205 to cool down.

Second set of 225, fifth rep starts to feel heavy, sixth rep I'm struggling, so I decide this is the last one, I don't have a spotter and I don't want to push it. So I struggle through the bottom portion and the weight starts to get a bit lighter the higer I get it up, so I am accelerating my push to finish the rep and put it down.

When *whack*, I crank the bar on the bottom of the supports- hard. My elbows buckle and I dropped the f'in whole thing flat on my chest. Oof. Needless to say, I'm a 'lil sore this am.

Lesson learned- either put the freakin weight down when it starts to feel heavy or find a spotter. Idiot.

S-L-A-C-K-E-R.........holy shit. I took about 3 weeks off due to birthdays, vacations, parties, moving to a new place and things of that ilk. Tonight was my first night back and it was utter torture. I did shoulders tonight and theres no doubt I wont even be able to wave hi to anyone tomorrow without pain. My abs should be ok, but they need the most work anyway. Lastly, I ran 6.1 miles and it was awful. I have a pain below my knee right now that I've never felt before and it hurt throughout the entire run, I refused to stop cause it was my first night back and im not shutting it down that quickly. But I know that pain and my legs will be fucked tomorrow. Thankfully I'm taking tomorrow night off cause wednesday is usually an off night anyway. We'll see how shit goes down thursday night.

OK...I am starting to get fustrated. I am at a wall. I am between 210 and 215. I can't seem to lose anymore. I am probably going to change the workout.

I am planning on Running a 5k in June in honor of my Best Friends dad who died of cancer.

This is my first road race!! lol Not that I will win but I am very excited.

Funny. I was just thinking about this post and being so fearful of doing this 5k. In Two weeks I am doing my First 1/2 Marathon. I am still just as nervous but fear of failure is gone.

I cant believe how much life has changed since this post.

whats your fastest single mile? add :15 seconds to it, run that, walk for a min, try to run it again. get used to running with your legs tired. work on sprinting one day, feel what its like to run your fastest. sprint 100 meters, jog 100, sprint another.

I have ran for the past 10 days doing about 1.5-2 miles a day. I try to do most of the laps in a fast run sprint, and walk when I cant run. Also bought a swiss ball to work my core, shit was worth it. Goal is to have a 6-pack by fall semester(my last).

Something that came up is my right knee is really giving me pain. I am 24 and have kinda taken a Hiatus from excercise for the past 3 or 4 months. I am have read some things on the net saying its runners knee, but I don't want to stop running cause its the most I have excercised in months.

Anyone else gone through this knee pain, I am a guy who has never gone through pain like this, but I don't want to stop running... Its not just when I run but when I do anything, golf, walk, sit.

smiler grogan
06-29-2010, 05:03 PM
It really depends on where the pain is. if its on the outside of the knee and it's sharp it could be that your IT band is tight. The IT band runs along the outside of your thighs and gets tight on runners. A lot of running means you need to do a lot of stretching and foam rolling. Get a roller at any sporting store or even target, walmart etc. and roll out your calves and IT band before and after you run see if that helps.

so i havent been posting, but i've definitely kept up with the working out. I had a setback/boost back in may where i was severly sick with gastritis for a week. i was non stop puking for 6 days and lost all energy. as a result, my diet had to change. i dropped all meats, chocolate and dairy other than yogurt. stopped drinking for 3months, and i can barely drink it now the few times i do. I've also been exercisng regularly to get back the strength i lost from being sick, including running. I usually do 5-7 miles 4-5 times a week, in addition to yoga and/or pilated. All together I've lost about 50 pounds, 25 of which came after i got sick and changed my diet. just a few more to go and i'll be my weight from when i was 20.

they are so much fun. you will have so much adrenaline pumping through you.

just keep your composure on the swim. i found it very panic inducing because there are so many people and its chaotic.

good luck broseph

the swim was so panic inducing not only due to the amount of people but the ocean was insanely rough, so much so that they almost canceled the swim this morning. I took in so much water plus got kicked in the face like 20 times. But once I started making my way towards land everything started to go right. It was an incredible experience and I'm def doing another one next summer. thanks for the well wishes.

Whoa, tell us a lil' more. Was it a sprint distance tri? How was your time, and how was your transition from one event to the other.

Great job doing the work and event by the way.

yea it was a sprint. i have no idea what my time was until they post the results. my transition wasn't too bad, I felt like I spent as little time in the transition area as I possibly could have. I moved very quickly from one event to the next.

Ten miles yesterday. The race is on Oct. 10th, my goal is to finish between 1:30 and 2:00. If I continue my training n earnest I should get under 2 hrs. The test will be how much under.

You can def. do it.

I fell off the wagon last thursday night and havent gone back since cause this past monday i felt like crap and tonight I have stupid ass "back to school night" in my district and even though I'm not a teacher and parents probably won't even want to talk to the Behavior Consultant, I still have to go. Tomorrow night I'm looking to get back into a full on good diet and exercise routine.

I'm down 2 pant sizes. 56 to 54. Finally bought a new belt too after all these years with the same one. Yea, I'm one fat bastard. But If I continue lose the weight, I'll lose my diabetes. I'm 24. Doc says I can still out run my dads genes.
