Utterly depressing. The defense that was on the field for the first half reared it's ugly head on that final drive.
I guess, if there's a silver lining, it's the fact I'm not going to blow frequent flyer miles on flights and hotels in Dallas taking a trip I really shouldn't be taking right now.
And Snacks, for someone who hates the Jets because of "all the shit they talk", shut the fuck up. When your team gets a sniff of the AFC championship game, let alone 2 in a row, then maybe you get some leeway. Otherwise, zip it.

How about they did it 3 in a row and won all 3. then again 2 in a row in 1984,85! The only difference is Miami then went to the SB and won 2 in a row! Let me know the next time you even get to the SB!!! lol

GB -2 1/2.
Buy the 1/2 down to 2 and bet everything. This line will be 3 at least. It may even got to 4 but lines dont move off of 3 that easily because of a middle. I love GB in this SB!

They were just showing them how gay it looks to do that. Did them a favor.

A "sprain" of the MCL apparently means it's torn. So it's both.
A "sprain" of the MCL apparently means it's torn. So it's both.
I'll judge Cutler if they release the degree of the sprain (Scale: 1 to 3)
Essentially a 1st degree sprain hurts, a 3rd degree is a rupture.

if your going back 35 years then it would be 1975
so your obviously missing the mets 86 title and the 2 yanks titles in 70's since the yanks have 7 (77,78,96,98,99,00,09)
and your also missing the islanders 4 stanley cups in 80's
ok this one cracked me up

Ok...more teams means more chances I will give you that. But we have had 3 teams I can think of that have consistency in their production for the last 25 years. Meaning for every one year they are shitty they have 2-3 with a good productive/playoff bound season at least.
The Giants, the Yanks and the Devils.
Mets? No
Rangers? Back in the late 80's to late 90's yes. Very feared team on the ice. But now? no.
Knicks? Made it to the big game once, back when OJ was making his big escape that was about it.
Nets....maybe two good seasons. Other then that...move that team.
(I don't care about basketball or know how the teams are doing this year)
Islanders....when was the last time they had a good season or made it to the playoffs?
But CJ also reminded me of the 4 year run of Stanley Cup dominance.
So take all of those teams out of the picture...NY have three good teams that have given 11 trophies to the area since 1985
Add the one from the rangers and one Mets and...well you get the picture.
three teams...from three sports. Same as Philly.
Yah, guess which teams justice roots for. I bet nobody can!

Welcome to underdog's idiot party fun time. How stupid is it that u blamed a player for getting the ball on the one on 4th for the first time and not the oc's play calling. Also, ur take on the best back in sd's history is based on one game he had two surgeries right after, not the shit ton of plays he made for years and his ability to score three different ways in his prime. Yah, just blame him is even better than the refs. What did both backs get the ball 9 times each? He's old, nobody runs easily on pitt and marty's son calls a worse game than his dad by a mile.

I know you grew up in PA but let me give you some info. Most people from North Jersey have always been connected to NYC. Maybe its because everything we see always has had a reference to NYC even when N NJ is discussed. Same as South Jersey. They have a connection to Philly. Whenever N NJ is talked about NYC is the reference and whenever S Jersey is talked about they are always lumped in with Philly!
The media has done this for both since Im a child!

I know I'm late to the game and the Cutler thing has already been covered but I just now came across that windbag Mark Schlereth's comments.
Now I don't care what most people's opinions are of Cutler as I'm not really a fan of him ( although I don't believe he quit in a 14 point game w/ a chance to go to the Super Bowl ) but I am so sick of the time that anybody gives the loser Schlereth.
What do you know he worked in his " I've had X amount of surgeries " into his Twitter comment.
I haven't heard that oh since the last time he was on TV.
Why don't you tell us about your stupid chilli too you moron.

His NFL career seems to be defined more by the fact that he played w/ Elway and that he had several surgeries.

Steelers Pro Bowl Center Pouncey Has Broken Ankle, Post-Gazette Reports (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-28/steelers-pro-bowl-center-pouncey-has-broken-ankle-post-gazette-reports.html)
Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey is highly doubtful for the Super Bowl after breaking his left ankle, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
Pouncey, 21, was injured on the first drive of the Steelers’ 24-19 victory over the New York Jets in the Jan. 23 American Football Conference title game. Though Pouncey and coach Mike Tomlin originally called the injury a high ankle sprain, the center has a broken bone and damage to the surrounding ligaments, the Post-Gazette reported without saying where it obtained the information.
If thats true, it could be a huge problem for the Steelers.

I was reading an article this morning about Desean Jackson at the pro bowl, reflecting on his season and looking to the future. Turns out he isn't playing in the Pro Bowl because he is injured. He said he would have played in the Super Bowl if they made it but won't risk it in the Pro Bowl. What is that injury?
Because, he said, an MRI exam revealed he suffered a bone bruise and a grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee in the Eagles' playoff loss to Green Bay, Jackson is not going to risk it. The knee, he said, has not completely healed.
Not only was Jackson on the field in the 4th quarter he was making some big plays despite being significantly slowed down.
Jay Cutler is tough though.

He "said" an mri showed this or that. I have not heard one news story in the 3 weeks since that loss about him being injured or team reports! I will wait for medical people from philly release their reports like they usually do and say it was a grade 2. He might be mistaken!

There is no reason for him to lie. It's not like Cutler was mentioned in the article or by him. This sounds like a really weak way to defend Cutler. What do you need to believe him? A copy of an MRI done on the field, videotape of the MRI taken, three forms of photo ID and his grandma there confirming it was him?
Anyone who watched the game saw the injury. The reason you didn't see any follow up reports are: 1. The Eagles season was over so who cares about non-serious injuries? and 2. He finished the game like a man.

How did he prove it exactly? Like we said anyone can say they had an injury but the team and medical staff reporting it means it really was or wasnt an injury. I can say right now I have a torn MCL but Im running a local 5k tomorrow. That doesnt mean I have a torn MCL just because I said so, we need medical proof.
As sailor said its very easy to say you would play when you dont have to back it up. We will never know because Philly got knocked out but to me it seems like talk. I also dont believe hes injured and if he is it might not be an injury he thinks it is it might be a lot less but hes making it sound worse to try to act tough.

Why would I believe him? That video proves he was hurt on a play it doesnt mean it was a bad injury or that is was an mcl grade 2. Did the reports after the game released from the medical staff/nfl etc say what the diagnosis was at anytime since or is the diagnosis only the one he said it is? Big difference!

Both. Every game guys (including Cutler) get hurt on a play and then come back. They walk or limp off the field and then a few minutes later they look like nothing happened. So we saw video of him in pain, great. He could have had a stinger, who knows the pain went away and he played. We still dont know how hurt he was if at all.
Like I said there has been no report during or since the game of the severity of his injury. So when he talks about his mcl being a grade 2 I dont believe him. If ESPN or the team/ team Drs report or reported it then maybe but Im sure as fuck not taking his word for it.

And you know what, we really don't know for sure either way with either one to be honest. TS took this side of the argument for two reasons, he has this man-up take on everything in sports and the fact that Jackson is an Eagle.
Take into consideration I HATE Cutler and would LOVE to just tear into him. However, we don't know shit to be honest and simply due to the fact I saw Cutler endure 10 first half sacks (God knows how many knock downs) live against the Giants this year only to keep trying to play mangled and concussed as we later found out. Also, we already knew he was an aloof type guy so the sideline actions aren't very confusing to me.
Looking at all these things and his overall history I can't just go out and roast the diabetic cunt just because he didn't live up to a bunch of jealous player's notion of tough. Truth be told, my guess is the coach/trainers made the call based on a pretty decent injury and the fact that he was playing fucking awful. My guess is he had no say in the matter so he's not sweating it. It's just another guess, but it seemingly fits the overall picture to me.

No One Shows Up For Pro Bowl
NEW YORK—Despite the game having been scheduled well over a year ago, not a single person associated with the NFL—players, coaches, reporters, or stadium employees—arrived in Honolulu for the Pro Bowl on Sunday. "No one came," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said at a press conference. "I'd use this as an opportunity to reprimand those who failed to fulfill their duties, but, well, I didn't show up either. I hate the Pro Bowl. It sucks." Though Fox was forced to broadcast a blank screen in lieu of the game, the time slot boasted higher ratings than any Pro Bowl in history.

I was thinking about this earlier: if the Steelers win the Super Bowl, Ben Roethlisberger will have 3 rings. That will put him in the company of some of the great QB's of the game: Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Terry Bradshaw are the only QB's who have won at least 3 Super Bowls.
But I still have great difficulty thinking of him as being in that class. And I'm not quite sure why.

It's because he's not really a "stats" QB. He's never really stood out at a Brady or a Manning. But you can't be Trent Dilfer and win 3 rings. Ol' Rapey is going to end up being a pretty great QB.

Brady wasnt a good QB when he won any of the 3 SB's he was avg at best. He has gotten better and turned into a great QB the last 5 years all after he won his SBs. Big Ben is a winner but once again its the team (and the refs) They should have lost both their SBs. Seattle destroyed Ben and got every bad call either not called or called against them. In the Arz vs Pitt SB Ben played great but once again a team that always gets the calls will always win. Harrisons 99 yard td int return should never have been if for no reason there was the most obvious clip not called ever. Then the Holmes TD IMO was not a TD. His 2nd foot was not even with the 1st meaning there was no way it could have touch inbounds. Fianlly when Arz had its last drive the refs didnt call interference, they did rush to spot balls etc. This will be Bens legacy maker for his taking but GB wins in my opinion.
All the QBs on that list had great teams and great Defenses. I think every one of them is a bit overrated and get way too much credit. But that has become the nature of the beast in the NFL.

What the hell are you talking about?
And New England won each of their 3 SBs by 3 points each. And they are thought of as the great modern dynasty, when they were as close as you can be to being the modern Bills. But they got it done and they deserve the credit. This whole conspiracy about the refs giving Lombardi Trophies to the Stillers is weak and worn. The NFL definately was targeting them with all the fines for hits this year.
If it makes Seattle and Arizona feel better to make excuses, then fine. But in the balanced NFL, a few points and plays seperate the champion from the basement.

I guess you dont remember last year when the head ref from the sea sb came out and said they made many mistakes and called the game unfairly for the steelers?
Brady didnt start have great QB years until after they already won the 3 sbs. He was an avg to above avg at best qb the 3 seasons they won those SBs and yes they were very close to being the Bills but it was a team effort that prevented that, not Brady!
Thats what Im talking about!

Got it. The Pats win 3 SBs by 3pts and it's team effort. The Steelers beat Seattle by 11, but the refs handed it to them.
And the Steelers were already winning before the calls. I remember the one being on Hasslebeck AFTER he already threw the interception. The other was the push-off in the endzone. That call was borderline, but not a total screwjob. You start extending arms and pushing the end zone, and you take a chance of getting called. Just like blocking. You can get away with all kinds of shit if you keep your hands in, but get them over the pads and you take a high chance of getting a flag.
Good thing that nothing like that ever happens to the Steelers.
Wait, What?!?

I never could see Aikman in that class. I think Roethlisberger is a better QB. He seemed to do the same will less weapons at his disposal.
Plaxico, Hines Ward, Randal El (first time around), Heath Miller, Santonio Holmes, Mike Wallace, The Bus, has always had a good line and a serviceable running back... not too bad in the way of weapons if you ask me

Its that time, time to make the SB pick!
The line has moved up to 2.5 and 3 all over the Vegas book. The over/under has moved from 44.5 to 45 and even some have it as high as 46.
I said to take the opening line and Im sticking with it. Take GB -2 (if you got 2.5 buy the 1/2) and take the over 44 (same thing buy the 1/2)
Final score
GB 34 - Pitt 20
I dont think this will be close. I think GB was the best team in the NFC this year but injuries hurt them big. Once they got somewhat healthy they played like the best team in the league the past 6 weeks or so. I think and hope Im right!
