They in no, way, shape or form called Bush a nazi. They went for impeachment proceedings based on the their opinion that he led us into the Iraq war based on information that was basically lies... and toeing the Geneva Convention line when it came to torture. Actually, pretty legitimate reasons. Bush did x and x, which we feel violates x and x, so we are moving for impeachment.
They did not say "Bush is a Nazi". "Bush is anti-American".
Can you find me any real instances of elected officials acting in the way that the people I posted did? Obama has been president for 2 years, I found like 7 absurd ones instantly.

Those are just details. Here's the bottom line- follow my logic:
some governement money was put into the levees
the levees failed
therefore, putting government money into services is a failure
therefore all government services are failures
therefore never fund the government
therefore let churches and charities manage all leeves

Again youre drawing silly conclusions that I want DC to become Mogadishu. Local governments should be funding levees. Unfortunately the local governments pissed away money to who know's what? Nagin, Landrieu et al were given 5 days warning about Katrina. The Mentality was they survived Camille and Katrina would not be so bad. The actual hurricane was not the problem It was the flooding. Anyone can throw out the words corrupt, thugs, theirs etc but the proof is Bush and his boys have done everything in their power to separate the rich from the middle class and below. There has never been a gap like this in the history of this country and they are thief's stealing and making money off the back of others. Do you need to bring race into it? Corrupt politicians come in all colors. You want to throw out words like income gap.
This is going to make your head spin....
If we import poverty we get more poverty. In the past 25 years we have been importing cheap labor so there's a big part of your income gap right there.

No, you're totally right. Because the only two choices are Washinton DC 2011 and Mogadishu.
And you've never argued that churches and charties can provide social services better than governement:

As far as private charity being better than government? Here it is
http://www.cato.org/pubs/policy_report/cpr-18n6-1.html
"Private efforts have been much more successful than the federal government's failed attempt at charity. America is the most generous nation on earth. Americans already contribute more than $125 billion annually to charity. In fact, more than 85 percent of all adult Americans make some charitable contribution each year. In addition, about half of all American adults perform volunteer work; more than 20 billion hours were worked in 1991. The dollar value of that volunteer work was more than $176 billion. Volunteer work and cash donations combined bring American charitable contributions to more than $300 billion per year, not counting the countless dollars and time given informally to family members, neighbors, and others outside the formal charity system.
Private charities have been more successful than government welfare for several reasons. First, private charities are able to individualize their approach to the circumstances of poor people in ways that governments can never do. Government regulations must be designed to treat all similarly situated recipients alike. Glenn C. Loury of Boston University explains the difference between welfare and private charities on that point. "Because citizens have due process rights which cannot be fully abrogated . . . public judgments must be made in a manner that can be defended after the fact, sometimes even in court." The result is that most government programs rely on the simple provision of cash or other goods and services without any attempt to differentiate between the needs of recipients."
And you've never mocked the attempts of government to provide serivces or implied that if that if there was a failure, it would be better to stop the geovernment service rather than improve it:

Child Protectiver services? You cant be that serious!!!
-A charity is going to inspect the structural integrity of bridges to make sure they don't collapse and kill people?
What happened in Minnesota a few years ago?
-A charity is going to inspect a mine shaft or factory to make sure the hard working "real" Americans aren't being subjected to unsafe working conditions?
With all these regulations accidents STILL HAPPEN
A charity is going to make sure contaminated food or drugs don't make it onto the market killing innocent people?
Have you read about toxins in our drinking water-
-A charity is going to provide serivces that make sure mentally ill homeless individuals take their vital daily medications to make sure they are on the street as a danger to themselves and other innocent individuals?
Government hosptials are such a success story haaa
All of those services are currently underfunded. And that's all you've got? Charities and the power of the free market are going to solve all of the country's ills? You continue to show how divorced you are from the real world and the problems of real word people.

Hola!!!
There was no FEMA during the Fire in Chicago in the late 1800's or the SF quake of 1906
Since the 1960's for example LBJ's great society pissed away trillions to fight poverty and inner city decay. 45 years later look at the successes of St Louis, Detroit and Chicago.
GSE's like Fannie and Freddie are billions in the red. Everybody has a right to own a house right?

I lean towards the right but I am embarrased how angry the right seems to be now. I will not waste my time watching Glen Beck - he has lost it. Palin's cross hairs on those states were rediculous and I can see how some mentally unstable idiot could interpret that in a violent way. My stepmom is such a blinded, emotional political ninja about any issue that is left or anything to do with Obama. She has ruined friendships and dosent talk to some of her family because they dont 100% agree with her Right views. Once, she was vocal in her beliefs but now she is 1 step away from being violent - and maybe all because of the way the media is brainwashing her. She watches Glen Beck and O'Reily everyday and is constantly mad about our country. I wonder how many others feel the same?
It's pretty over the top crazy shit how the influence CAN hit so deep. I've actually seen the same thing with some physicians and medical staff I work with in much the same light, where you can't even take the other side for argument's sake without them storming out of the room. Fucking MDs in NJ and NYC!? I can only imagine how it is in conservative strongholds like TN. Perhaps obsessed/crazy is obsessed/crazy anywhere? I just imagine it being worse out there, less open to debate.

You've found that one, got any others? Maybe some Bush is hitler? Or Bush is anti-American even?
My point is (it's the point I've been trying to make this entire thread), that while there did exist hatred for Bush, it was nowhere even close to the level of out there, mainstream hatred of Obama.
Yes, referring to Bush as a war monger is exactly the same as thinly veiled attempts at inciting violence bc you aren't in power or getting votes to go your way for the first time in a decade.
Give me a break Like the Clinton and Obama white houses are pure. Stop it already
Here we go again, "Not uh, your side is worse". Just continue to avoid issues by saying you have them too. The difference here is that most issues that come up on the other side of the fence are dealt with, not ignored and or worse (as with this issue).
Man I have a LOT to catch up with.

Palin should have chosen her words more wisely. Im not trying to make excuses for Palin but that nut Loughner has been stalking Giffords since 2007 way before anyone who knew Palin was.
Sorry WF, not one person here downplayed idiots on the left, they just said there are fewer of them overall and in lesser positions of power.
Also, even if Loughner had been stalking Giffords since 07 he didn't act violently until now, where most here are saying things/rhetoric/vitriol from both sides are at possibly all-time high levels, especially from those on the right and in some high raking positions (in government and the media). One side seem to be calling for a change, the other is "reloading" while hiding past abuses even though an aid called them surveyor marks, not scope cross-hairs. Funny bc Palin herself had a completely different lie as to what they were. Why take them down then? Why not hold up your perfectly fine site and strategy for what it is and stand behind it if nothing was wrong with it or where it comes from? We all know the answer to those questions.

Again, this is WF's debate tactic. When he's losing, he will start arguing against clear points he can win, even though no one is making them against him.
So the conversation will be:
person: There are fewer/less powerful voices on the left that incite violence.
WF: You act like no one on the left incites violence! Here's a random youtube of someone you never heard of on cctv saying something inciting violence.

Roger Ailes, the president of Fox News, on Monday embraced the idea of a more civil public discourse in the wake of the shootings in Arizona.
In an interview with the hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, which was posted on his Web site, Mr. Ailes said that his network would try to cool the heated rhetoric.
“I told all of our guys, shut up, tone it down, make your argument intellectually,” Mr. Ailes said. “You don’t have to do it with bombast. I hope the other side does that.” (http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/11/ailes-to-fox-anchors-tone-it-down/?hp)
I find it less notable that he is admitting that his anchors are over the top than his use of the term "other side". If the station is "balanced", what is this "other side" he is referring to?
If an increase in civility is one of the unexpected consequences of this event, how about also having a decrease in the "if we say it, then it is true" mentality. Saying you're "fair and balanced" doesn't mean you're fair and balanced.

N.Y. Rep. Peter King (R) to introduce gun control legislation..linky (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/11/peter-king-strict-gun-control_n_807323.html)
King's legislation to make it illegal to knowingly carry a gun within 1,000 feet of the president, vice president, members of Congress or judges of the Federal Judiciary, would offer government officials the same protection.
(BTW I cut and pasted the above from the story in the Huff Post...tell me don't you capiltilize the P in President and Vice President? We do here in Bugtussle.)
Back on point. It surprises me, if this does turn out to be true, that Rep. King would originate this. Co-Sponsor yes, but to author it from his desk, well it was a surprise.
I'm a 2nd ammendment supporter and a gun owner myself and I have no problem with this at face value. The final bill will be interesting to read. King might take some heat but I can understand this, and the nexus of this idea makes sense.

That's a pretty funny slip up. I'm quite sure nobody will point this out in the media at all, much less Colbert and Stewart. Should be hilarious.

I know he's a conservative commentator, but Charles Krauthammer was on O'Reilly and was interviewed as a doctor (he's a psychiatrist). I see nothing wrong with Alter hoping Obama takes the right tact and approach here to help take away some vitriol in the political areana. To help curtail our downward spiral of political debate, that surely will always be charged, but does it have to be what it is today?
We disagree here often, but even here it hasn't risen to that level. I've seen a few news flung around at WF and or from him, but usually it's pretty mild with a few exceptions. Without Mikeyboy (went to that milk toast board bc he's a commie pinko) to tell everyone to "knock it off", somehow we've survived.
So no AJ, I'd rather have these discussions versus ignore them so we can talk about Gvac's neti pot or Chuckwagon's love for himself.

Again WF, nobody said it NEVER happens on the Left or in Kanjorski's case, with some shitty dems of the past. We're not here defending his IDIOTIC comment by saying it happens there too! People are saying it happens more on the right, in high profile positions, whether that be in radio, on Fox or in government.
We have a shitload of examples for each, versus you digging into history to find some obscure cases with people usually pushed aside and left to die on the vine once they stepped over that line. On the right, they go to Fox News or radio and spew f'n hate all day long and never really debate a topic or any policy.
It's just sour grapes and vitriol bc they aren't in power for the first time in YEARS. If the country is soooo bad off, look in the mirror bc it's mainly the result of your work.
Quit it with the fucking excuse that the left doesn't have an audience or the people spewing the hate speech on the left arent famous.
Listen to pacifica radio and hear the hate, the talk of revolution ending capitalism etc. You ant to hear someone spewing bile? Mike Malloy on America left. Thats one angry paranoid progressive
The result of my work? What do I have to do with anything? Its 100 yearsprogressive economics like the income tax, new deal. great society, the expanding welfare and nanny state, undeclared perpetual wars. But its my work? Give me a fucking break.

The sad thing about the people from the tea party speaking, was that I can tell you with complete confidence that remarks like that aren't the kind of remarks that are being said by everyone who is affiliated with the movement.
And the remarks by the one reporter regarding the suspect being a left-wing pothead was the sentiment expressed by that fellow student of the shooter.

Anyone that tries to convince anyone else of something on the internet is a douchebag. You and me are included in this. Political posturing over a mass shooting is stupid. No one, with the exception of the shooter and the media, is happy with what happened.

I totally agree!!! I just don't understand how someone can be so completely convinced they're right when they're so wrong!!! He got pissy over the idea that people don't like the wave of violent and pseudo-violent rhetoric clearly being championed by the Teabaggers and Teabaggers-lite and the politicians and media talking heads that court them (people that he repeatedly claims to not be able to stand, yet defends tooth and nail all the time), and now he's convinced that if he finds these random clips of people he thinks are "progressive" from over the last decade it's the same damn thing!!! It's just fundamentally flawed on a common sense level!!! Hey WF, how many times does somebody have to say NOBODY EVER SAID THERE AREN'T PEOPLE ON THE LEFT SAYING HATEFUL THINGS before you fucking get it??? Do you seriously think that anyone here has said that??? You must, because that's the only way to explain this nonsensical crusade you've gone on!!!

We are all guilty but it was the fuckbags on the left like Krugman who started all this. He writes a pathetic column, A sheriff goes on TV and blames talk radio and cable news without all the facts.
Palin should have manned up and made a genuine apology or said her map wasnt meant to cause any harm. But in the same time Krugman should issue an apology as well. But they wont, both are cowards
