<p><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/30/sports/baseball/30notebook.html?oref=login&oref=login" target="_blank">This news makes my heart warm with happiness. (NY Times link, reg required.)</a></p><p>The veteran relievers Paul Quantrill and Mike Stanton appear to have
pitched their last games for the Yankees. Hoping to make their bullpen
younger, the Yankees could release or trade both on Thursday.<br />
</p>
<p>Quantrill and Stanton shook hands and exchanged hugs with teammates
and club personnel after Wednesday night's rainout at Camden Yards.
Quantrill would not comment after leaving the clubhouse, and Stanton
said, "You can read between the lines."</p>
<p>Manager Joe Torre, who
kept the clubhouse closed to reporters for about 15 minutes after the
game was called, said he had spoken with General Manager Brian Cashman
about reducing the Yankees' pitching staff to 11 from 12.</p>
<p>"We're going to have to talk through it and figure out what we'll do before Friday," Torre said. </p>
<p>On
Wednesday, the Yankees promoted the right-hander Jason Anderson from
Class AAA Columbus and sent down outfielder Kevin Reese. The move gave
the team 12 pitchers, and it was necessary for two reasons: Wednesday's
scheduled starter, Mike Mussina, was ill, and the setup man Tom Gordon
was unavailable after working two innings Tuesday.</p>
<p>Torre said he
wanted to return to 11 pitchers and was eager to promote a backup
infielder, Felix Escalona, for Friday's game in Detroit. When asked
before the game if the presence of Anderson and another recently
promoted reliever, Scott Proctor, could affect the roster spots of
veteran relievers, Cashman said, "That's always an option that we have."</p>
<p>It
was not immediately known which player besides Escalona would join the
Yankees' roster, but Colter Bean has been dominant at Columbus, with 47
strikeouts in 39 innings. Bean, a right-hander, pitched two innings for
the Yankees in April.</p>

when someone cuts off your legs when you are trying to improve the team
they're an asshole. Let's just assume this team tanks in the next few
weeks and they have to start thinking about next season. Well, this is
one option that's already closed. Not to mention they way he's been
half assing it in the outfield. But that's OK, because outfield defense
isn't one of this team's most glaring problems. And let's not forget
the rumors that he's been a cancer in the clubhouse.<br />
</font></font></p><p><font color="Navy"><font size="2">Maybe he can start showing he wants to be a Yankee through his
actions. Let's not forget that Sheffield was head choker #1 of the
chokers in the Red Sox series. Let's not forget that he has a .258
postseason average for his career, with only 16 RBI in 36 games.</font></font></p><p><font color="Navy"><font size="2">Plus,
the only point of getting Cameron or Kotsay is defense. And I'm not
sure anybody here wants Kotsay, especially for good prospects. I'd

with Cameron. I'm not so sure we can count on Sheffield's super fast
bat being there next year, and even if it is he's gone after next year.
Trading him for some younger, promising players in the event of
disaster could have helped in the next few years, but now that's moot.</font></font></p><p><font color="Navy"><font size="2">Let
me ask you this. If the Yanks were about to unload Tony Womack, and he

Sheff's one of the top hitters in Baseball. <br />

Sheffields ony problem is lack of diplomacy. He tells you exactly whats
on his mind. Its what some people like about him, and other people hate

It baffles me that the Yankees seem so anxious to get rid of Sheffield. This makes no sense, at all... I'm gonna lose my mind thinking about it. They need an outfielder (center), so they're looking to get one... by trading away an outfielder? First off, Sheffield easily has the best arm in our outfield. Secondly, the guy is hitting over .300 with 55 RBIs, and gets most of his hits with runners in scoring position! With A-Rod and Matsui as hot as they've been, having the middle of the line-up be Sheffield, A-Rod, Matsui is the only thing that's been scoring us runs lately! How could they even THINK about getting rid of Sheff?! This is sheer insanity and I want to vomit.

Womack could fuck your team over more if he were to act like Shef, since they truly need to unload him. That was Hb's point! Shef's ability to hit isn't the issue, and sure as hell doesn't justify his statements. Stop allowing someone to act like an ass bc he hits better. That doesn't make what he did excusable. At least people can stand to be in the same room with Womack. He has what we call class and character. It's nice you attack a player who may not perform all the time, but has done anything the team has asked without one bad word. Also, I didn't know the prerequisite for being an asshole was to play at least to the level of Robinson and or Shef!</p><p>2) Classic Yankee fan. Make excuses for assholes as long as they hit/pitch. Like Torre with Clemens once he was a yank. He had nothing good to say about him until he was in his locker room. In fact, he badly contradicted his own words from the past with statements having to defend Clemens later with the yanks.</p><p>3) Slowed his bat? You realize just how stupid this point is right. First, he would have less pop in his bat. Second, when a batter is in front of a pitch, it's usually by design from the pitcher. Usually called off speed stuff, "change ups". Not to mention that foul balls down the line in the upper deck aren't as far as they seem. I'm sure you're talking about the short porch in right too. That little shit CH could at least hit to the warning track there. </p><p>4) Sure, blame OMAR for this. I bet it was him since immediately there are new rumors that he's on the table to Florida too. Let's see this for what it is, Shef is a selfish, arogant asshole. I'm sure he's in these trade talks bc Joe Torre dislikes any cancer in the locker room. And if Joe is good at anything, he's good at judging character. You may think it's stupid to lose him bc of his stats. But Hbox makes a great point as to his influence on future Yanks and the current team. If they can, I bet they will
I'm glad I'm getting to watch this kid Melky

<p>Yah, sounds like he isn't ready yet. However, it seems he is being rushed bc of the yank's situation. Are you sure he won't get a call up if he hits well for a week or two in trip A? I've seen many a player called up too soon being a Jays fan. Look at Felipe Lopez. He didn't respond well bc he just wasn't ready. Now he's with CN and hitting the shit out of the ball. He has at least 4 tools and is showing signs of #5. The Jays fucked up with him, but I don't think JP gave a shit bc he wasn't one of his moves. </p><p><img src="http://members.aol.com/dxixrxt/spoon2.jpg" border="0" /></p><p> Get your balls out of your purse and step up to flavor! <p>I just read a thread on Nyyfans that he might be
called up to showcase him for a trade. Apparently a bunch of scouts
were there to see his first game.</p><p>If they trade him for Kotsay I kill. I left that open-ended purposely.</p><p>On
another note, you can tell that Steinbrenner doesn't pay much attention
to the Clippers. A bunch of players are wearing their uniforms really
baggy Manyy Ramirez-style. I don't think that stuff would fly in NY.</p><p>And
on another more humorous note, somone suggested on that board that the
Yanks should trade Womack and/or Sanchez with cash to Texas to bring
back Soriano. They were serious. I don't want to start up last night's
gag again because I'm spent, but it's just hilarious.

<p>Well, that poster wanted him to be in the
outfield. Apparently he hasn't had his fill of bad infielders trying to
convert to the outfield in mid-season. And he forgot how dead set
Soriano was against going to the outfield when he was here.</p><p>Henn
seems to have had control problems when he in the majors, which I guess
was from nerves. Maybe he can overcome that and become decent in time.
But, then again, as I typed that he started throwing wild and just gave
up a leadoff single, so who knows.<br />

<p>Well its the 8th inning. Any idea how many pithes he's thrown? I have the sound off.</p><p>Most worthless stat in baseball: Win-loss record. If one of these guys scores he'll get charged with a loss. Leaving in the 8th giving up 1 run with a guy on doesnt deserve a loss. Half the decisions givin to a pitcher arent deserved. Give up 8 runs in 6 inning and leave winning 11-8, you get the win if the pen shuts down the oposition. Stupid.</p>

<p>No, I didn't think Johnson would stink this bad,
but I didn't think he would be close to replicating last year's
numbers, and I was against the trade. I thought Vazquez could have
recovered. Looks like I might have been wrong on that, though. He's
been like Pavano this season, wildly inconsistent.<br />
</p><p>And giving Johnson a two year extension was lunacy. I originally
thought he was signed only throught next year, I only recently found
out it was TWO more years after this one. That is fucking
nuts. He's 41. Also, don't act like there was ZERO sign of
decline. Look at Johnson in 2003. Only 18 starts, 6-8 with an ERA of
4.28 giving up 16 HR.</p>

so misleading it's almost a lie and if you remember the game you know
it. He had all but two of the Yanks RBIs in that game. If he hadn't
drove in any
runs the Yanks would have lost that game. A-Rod and A-Rod alone made
that game a blow out. 4 of those RBIs, which would be almost half, came
on a Grand Slam at a critical point when the game was still very much
in doubt. And I believe that was his second HR of the game. If he had
only driven in 4 on 1 HR, would that
have been more acceptable?<br />

<p>Thank you H-Box. I dont need to add anything to that.</p><p>We are
now tied w/the O's in the loss collumn, whose pitching staff is coming
back down to earth. And I've never seen so much bad fielding in
my life. </p><p>The Bosox bullpen is exploding. And we're
just starting to play better. We just have to get to the all star
break, and then we should have our starters back. So should the Bosox
have Schilling by then, and they're not going anywhere. Too much
hitting. But then again, we can hit too.Should be interesting. <br />
</p><p>I never thought I'd see Giambi hit 3 HR's in two games again.
And what a load that must be off the teams back. He and Brown have been
the two biggest anchors.</p><p>"I don't think he knew, after being away for a year, what it was going
to be like when he got back," Torre said. "Now he's getting that
inner-conceit thing, where you go up there and challenge people to get
you out."</p><br />
<p> </p><p>I have to knock Torre on
this. He was trying to get Giambi to go the other way, and Giambi says
he was screwed up all thru the beginning of the season. He went back to
his old way of swinging, and his #'s have improved ever since. </p><p>Torre
did the same thing w/Clemens when he showed up. Told him "You dont need
to throw at hitters, you're better than that." Went on to a mediocre
14-10 4.60 in his 1st year w/Yanks. Joe, stop telling all stars to
change how they became all stars in the 1st place. </p>

<p>
May, who went 1-3 with a 5.61 ERA for San Diego, tossed seven solid
innings of one-run ball, striking out seven in his first game with
Triple-A Columbus on Monday night. </p>
<p>
"That's a possibility. If we don't have Pavano, we can look at some

We win 12-3 and take away his..2 HRs and 3 rbis or whatever, and we still win by 6. All I hate is the fact that 21 HRs is impresive and on the surface that sounds great, but I factor in that only a few made any sort of difference. I should have broke down who they were all againt. Honestly, besides his spring training arrival last year, i havnt noticed him being smaller then 2002 or 2003</p><p>After A-rod HR i wanted to come here and post that we'd win by more then 6, and at least 3 other Yankees wouldve Homered. <p>He's very young so he's gonna naturally get bigger.</p><p>Looked
a little overmatched at the plate, didn't look completely comfortable
like Cano did. However, he has a lightning quick swing. And I can
already tell he's gonna improve the CF defense. He will be able to
cover more ground and has a much better arm than Womack or Bernie,
however he's still learning so he's gonna make some ill-advised throws
like he did tonight.</p><p>I'm not going to have high expectations for
him. If he can keep his average around .250 and provide good CF defense
then I'll be happy. If he's gonna put up Womack type numbers he'll be
little help and his time would be better spent in
AAA. </p>

I could see a scumbag like Bonds doing that. But Giambi knows what he did was wrong, he confronted it, and he's working hard to get past it.

<p><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/08/sports/baseball/08cabrera.html?" target="_blank">Article about Cabrera.(NY Times, reg required)<br />
</a></p><p>This is some of the saddest stuff I've
seen in a sports article. I mean, I thought I'd be happy after reading
it. Here it is:</p><p>[quote]Bernie Williams was watching some little-known minor leaguers shagging
fly balls in Tampa, Fla., last year when Gordon Blakeley, the <a title="" href="http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/sports/baseball/majorleague/newyorkyankees/index.html?inline=nyt-org">Yankees'</a>
senior vice president of player personnel, told him to study one
specific player. Melky Cabrera was short and stocky, but he played
center field smoothly.</p>
<p>"He's going to take your job someday," Blakeley told Williams.</p>
<p>As
Williams recalled the conversation yesterday, he smiled at Blakeley's
prophetic statement, then added, "I didn't think he meant it was going
to be this year."</p>
<p>It is this year. It is now. The Cabrera Era, if
there proves to be such a thing, began with the 20-year-old player
initially shying away from reporters, wearing No. 39, batting ninth and
playing one of the most hallowed positions in all of sports: center
field at Yankee Stadium.</p>
<p>The Yankees made a surprising choice
when they promoted Cabrera after he had played nine games at Class AAA
Columbus and then immediately made him a starter. If Cabrera plays
dependable defense and provides enough offense so he does not embarrass
himself, he could become entrenched.</p>
<p>"They told me I've come to
play," said Cabrera, a Dominican, whose career had a nifty start with
Mariano Rivera, a likely Hall of Famer, acting as his pre-game
interpreter.</p>
<p>Cabrera had a modest yet promising debut while the Yankees silenced the <a title="" href="http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/sports/baseball/majorleague/clevelandindians/index.html?inline=nyt-org">Cleveland Indians</a>,
7-2. He blooped a single to left in one of his four at-bats, showed a
powerful arm and pleased Manager Joe Torre by being aggressive in
calling off second baseman Robinson Cano to corral a shallow fly ball.</p>
<p>After
Cabrera's 180-foot single against Kevin Millwood in the fourth, Cabrera
tapped his chest, pointed a finger to the sky and smiled. Most of the
52,201 fans gave the newest Yankee a standing ovation.</p>
<p>"I felt
relaxed," said Cabrera, whose postgame remarks were interpreted by
Luigi Castillo, a clubhouse attendant. "I felt under control."</p>
<p>As
the 36-year-old Williams watched Cabrera's indoctrination, he naturally
flashed back to his debut on July 7, 1991, exactly 14 years to the day
of Cabrera's debut. </p>
<p>"That's me 14 years ago," Williams said.
"If he can handle it and has the talent, he can have a great career. He
can be here 14 years." </p>
<p>Who would have thought the $200 million
Yankees would wind up starting a 20-year-old in center and a
22-year-old at second in Cano, and have a 25-year-old in the starting
rotation in Chien-Ming Wang, all before the All-Star Game break? Torre
called the infusion of youth refreshing.</p>
<p>"Starting the season, there was no chance any of this was going to happen," Torre said.</p>
<p>Yet
it has happened, by necessity, because the Yankees have been sluggish
for too long. General Manager Brian Cashman surveyed the market for
available outfielders to improve the team defensively and asked about
Oakland's Mark Kotsay, Seattle's Randy Winn, Florida's Juan Encarnacion
and the Mets' Mike Cameron.</p>
<p>But Cashman said teams were either
holding onto their outfielders or were requesting what he called
astronomical prices, so, after debating the move for two weeks, the
Yankees summoned Cabrera.</p>
<p>Cabrera hit .267 with 9 homers and 44
runs batted in during 75 games for Class AA Trenton. He was promoted to
Columbus on June 28, although the Yankees considered jum

Cabrera isn't set in stone as the everyday center fielder now. He could end up pulling a Henn and sucking balls. I don't think Bernie has started his last game in center field. And I know he's got plenty still to contribute with the bat. He went 4 for 5 a few nights ago and has been coming up with some huge clutch hits. He ain't done just yet.<br><br>Also, I think it's very interesting that Bernie's major league debut was exactly 14 years ago TO THE DAY. That CAN'T be a coincidence.

<p>The "14 years to the day" thing is a little creepy, but the Yanks do tend to have a flair for the dramatic, so I'm sure it was calculated & not coincidence. And I'm sure it was one of their PR people who pointed out that little fact to a reporter.</p><p>As for Bernie, I think that if Giambi figures out how to be an everyday player again, Reuben will be gone & Bernie will be an even better version of that all-important, switch-hitting, first guy off the bench in a clutch situation and part time DH. The man can still hit, there's no reason to rush him into that sunset ride. </p><p>That's if & only if Mr. Boras will allow him to accept bench money & doesn't convince him he can get starter money to embarrass himself elsewhere & ruin what should be a comfortable end to a pretty special career.</p>

I love the guy, but he's broken down, slow and not a steady bat. He can get hot like anybody else, and hes clutch but hes better served as a Yankee DH and coming off the bench when needed then he would be doing anything else for any other team.

Ruben ain't goin anywhere. He's done too much for the team as a DH and he gives the Yankees some good depth, since he can also play a decent outfield. I think Bernie will DH 8 times out of 10, but without Ruben, we really only have one DH.

I actually attended last year's Old Timer's Day... it turned out to be one of the best baseball experiences of my life. I had a great afternoon at the Stadium, despite the scorching sun beating down on me. Seeing all those greats on the field was awesome. It is really important to remember who made this team great in the past and see the guys who entertained generations before our's. I couldn't beleive it when Louis Sojo proved that he is STILL clutch, even in the Old Timer's game, when he hit a walk-off homerun to end the game. That was pretty hilarious actually. They gave out comemorative pins, and the Yankees also went on to win that game. Too often player's retire and disappear quietly, but the Yankees organization does a better job than any franchise at recognizing their past heros and keeping the old guys in "the family."

C'mon, man...it's a ridicuously broad and untrue statement to make. The Cubs alone have kept dozens of players close to home over the decades, as coaches, as announcers, for appearances, WHATEVER. You go to a day game at Wrigley, ANY game, and you're bound to see at least 3-4 former Cubs sitting in the front rows or a skybox. And I'll bet this is true for plenty of the old school teams across the league, so let's not suddenly act like the Yankees are head and shoulders when it comes to respecting and involving the old players.

Missed two balls, one he should have got and another he might have been

Here's what really lost us tonight's game:<br>Keeping Sturtz in for the 9th... <br><br>In a 1-run game that we came from behind in, and is so very important (in the race with boston), fucking bring in Mariano to hold it at 1.<br>If Mo comes in, it stays 7-6, Ruben's homer ties it. Bullshit move on Torre's part if you ask me... (and no, I'm not calling for Torre to be fired, I'm just criticizing a move he made.)<br><br>Further down from the choice to keep Sturtz in was Cano's double play ball... With a man in scoring position and no outs, the absolute LAST THING you wanna do is ground into a DP. That was just shit<br><br>Today should've been a glorious come-from-behind win, and we should be 2.5 out of 1st.

Okay wait... So Torre is willing to work Mariano for 2 innings today... but yesterday, in the middle of a huge rally, he couldn't bring him in to hold the deficit at 1?<br>Whatever.

Actually sir, this is why YOU know nothing... There is something coming up called THE ALL STAR BREAK. As in, THREE DAYS REST. Yeah Mariano is in the all star game, but he will get AT MOST, one inning of work, if ANY. You apply your broad-based rules to everything without considering the specifics of the situation. You never pay attention to details.
<br><br>*EDIT: Just to further prove my point, Torre worked Mo for 2 innings tonight when he didn't even need to use him, so that Mo could get some work in before the break. My argument earlier was, why couldn't Torre give him that work yesterday when it was a little more urgent?

<p>With Gordon nursing an injury, I have no problem
with Rivera pitching in the eighth. And even considering Sheffield's
homer, I wouldn't have had a problem with Rivera pitching the ninth IF
he wasn't on the All-Star team.</p><p>However, seeing as him pitching
at the All-Star game is a very realistic possiblity, especially with
Francona managing (he'd love to use Rivera to win the game since it
means something, and also to tire him for the upcoming series), you
can't have him pitch the ninth. Gordon was available in an emergency.
You have to trust that the other guys can hold a 5 run lead. Otherwise,
we get the Gordon and Rivera of last October, tired beyond usefulness.</p><p>If
this was a one time thing it would be fine. But Torre chronically
overworks this bullpen. I'd hate see the incredibly effective Rivera of
this season worn down to vulnerability by Torre.</p><p>And Cabrera better be practicing his ass off in CF during the break.</p>

Exactly... So if Torre was gonna have Mo work in a non-close situation, would you rather it be in the 9th of today's game, or in the 9th of yesterday's game? Obviously yesterday's, cuz then we would've at least taken it into the 10th.<br><br>Let's just hope the All-Star game isn't even close, so Mo won't have to pitch.

<p>They did the same to us earlier in the season, and we're among the tops
in the league in Runs Scored. So no, it doesn't surprise at all. They
have young, inconsistant pitchers. When they're on, they can dominate.
When they're not, they suck. </p><p>BTW-Do we dare declare Giambi back to being the old Giambi? I cant believe the power surge, he's carrying the team. </p><p> </p><p><br />

I can't tell if you people are joking, but I really hope no one has actually been stricken with enough stupidity to genuinely believe Giambi is juicing again. There is regular testing in baseball for 'roids. Another guy just got busted the other day. Giambi is not Bonds. He admitted to doing 'roids. He can't possibly be enough of a scumbag to actually start doing them again, after all the adversity he's faced and health issues he's gone through.<br><br>He sucked for a long long time after the whole steroid issue and is finally starting to show some signs of improvement, and automatically he's on steroids again? C'mon.

<p>If you dont think Giambi is juicing then fine, but dont bring up the "he couldnt possibly" angle. The world in general and in sports is full of people who couldnt possibly be stupid enough to do it again, and they do. He was a great hitter and now hes a bum, a loser bust that every Yankee fan hates. They want him to go to the minors, they try to make him change his swing and he gets booed everytime he does anything in Yankee stadium besides walk. On top of this, hes sensitive. He's humiliated. You dont think he'd go back and take Human Growth Hormone that apparently isnt banned and isnt tested for? </p><p>We dont know what his health issues are/were and what caused them. All we know is he has had issues and he used roids. Theres noway to know what he had or if roids caused it. </p><p>I think it was on a different board, but I read that plenty of docs/scientists believe men or 30 or 35 woiuld benefit health wise from a month long cycle of roids a year. shit would break down and weaken like it does in the body startin around that age. A lot less dangerous just about every other drug dished out like candy by doctors these days. If Giambi believes the above like canseco does, we would view it as a "stupid" thing to do at all</p>

I know it was a vote & obviously more ChiSox fans voted than Yankee fans, but if he wasn't leading the league in steals he wouldn't really even be up for discussion. This is why the vote should be taken away from the fans. One hting I hate is douchebags making the team because they used to be good. Some asshole retired and hes a ...10 time all star and in the meantime he was only the best at his position like 6 or 7 of those years. Fuck Piazza and even fuck Giambi from last year. Besides all that shit, you got tons of fuckers at every position. For Christs sake, have 3 starters and a back up outfielder and maybe 2 extra infielders and have 4 starting pitchers and the top 2 or 3 closers, and leave it be. Every Godamn position has someone new in each inning.

Carl Crawford isn't an All-Star, neither is
Podsednik. Torii Hunter was much more deserving than either of them. If we're going to go strictly by stats, Matsui deserved the
spot. But I say Jeter deserved it because of his stature in MLB. I know, Yankee bias, blah blah
blah, but those two were clearly the two most deserving.<br />

Oh yah, this year it counts! Who the fuck cares about the all-star game even now? I hate the new WS tie-in, the new world format and the fact that you care if Jeter is there. The fact is that Arod is a stat whore who can't lead a team anywhere, and fails in big spots. If in fact the Yanks do something in the playoffs it sure as hell will be due to the leadership of other members on the team (and that huge fucking payroll). The Yanks are one of a few teams that make huge mistakes year after year but can bury them with more acquistions. These teams are ruining the sport as a whole. Hell, almost every major free agent seems to be signed by the likes of Boston, NYY, and Baltimore. It's no wonder the likes of Toronto and TB can't get up on their feet in the division. They're making one hell of an effort and I applaud it, but a realist can see that it's one hell of an uphill battle. The league as a whole sucks and has sucked for the last decade. Thanks George, you have led the way!

<p>Supposedly the Yankees traded a player to be named later for Chacon. It was reported in the Denver Post this morning and 1050 is alaso reporting it. Apparantly it's a minor leaguer who is ready to play by next year. It damn well better not be Duncan or Hughes, that's all I care about.</p>

<p>Spoon, i usually agree but to lump the Orioles in with Free agent acquistions with the Yankees is a little bit off.....actually way off.</p><p>The Orioles signed Miguel Tejada granted for 6 years and 72 million (and people said they overpaid for him) and Javy Lopez for 3 years 24 million. But prior to that their last big signing was Albert Belle back in like 1998 or something. And for the last 6 years i have seen nothing but passes at the orioles hell look at some of the guys who passed up to play in baltimore: Delgado, Pavano, Tim Hudson (he refused to negotiate an extension w/ the orioles prior to any trade), Vlad, Cliff Floyd and the list can go on and on.</p><p>And if not for this years re-emergence they would have little hope in signing any this offseason as well. And truth be told the orioles payroll this year is less then it was last year. So please don't lump the O's in with the other Mega Powers in the AL East.</p>

Even Pavano for a few weeks while not pitching real good isnt a killer. THIS is a killer. Worst thing of all is now Wang is trade bait, but we wont get as much as if he was healthy. </p><p>Our starting rotation is RJ, Moose........Redding and 2 other guys I cant think of. Holy shit. Our rotation can now be compared to the Iraqi Elite forces in the Battle for Baghdad.</p><p>Kevin Brown for Tom Glavine, Yanks payem both. Mets loose a contract and gain nothing. You don't win with just one guy hitting...look at the Cubs for a glaring example of that all too many times this year. You WANT your hitters to gel together and play as a TEAM. Expecting A-Rod to be a superhero when he comes up to the plate and nobody else is hitting is ridiculous. You make it sound like it's his fault they lost in low scoring games and nobody else's.
