One thing id worry about if i were Germany.

Messi looks due to explode.

And don't act like Germany murdered England.

It was 2-1 at the half.

Should have been 2-2.

If it was 2-2 t would have been a different game.

The English would not be n desperation tie attack mode and would have played tighter D then they played.

True, but you can't deny playing down affected the strategy in how they approached the second half.

They still have themselves to blame, but it's a different game at 2-2.

I'm kind of surprised he didn't flop to the ground and hold his head right afterward.

it is funny. It shows that the guys is sorta tough and firey. Takes a nice knock right to the face, snapped his head back, and it barely phased him then pissed him off, then he fuckin clocked it.

on this note i gotta mention something. On argentina's 2nd goal, the one by Higuain.

He got passed the mexican defender and the guy actually grabbed his shoulder and pulled back so hard he was waterskiing. Now Higuain coulda went down and got a penalty, in fact, it shoulda been a penalty, and it was impressive that he managed not to go down. But he had a chance to score, and he prob knew Messi would be taking the penalty, so he just powered right through that shit like it was no problem. Any other time he falls and acts like a fag. But when they dont do that it ends up being awesome. The true Beautiful game.

I think thats why I got so into Premiere League. There is floppin, sure, but the refs dont take that shit. They dont call it, and they card guys for flopping. so, for the most part, guys either check that shit and start running through physical play, making the game more fun and more physical, or they become too much of pussies and ask to be sold to real madrid so they can keep flopping like a fish. A big Ronaldofish.

I think, as a whole, there is less flopping in pro leagues cause the refs know the players more, and the players know more of whats gonna be called and not cause they see the same refs all the time. The world cup is new, nervous refs that come from all over and dont know these players, dont speak the same language. It makes it weird

True, but you can't deny playing down affected the strategy in how they approached the second half.

They still have themselves to blame, but it's a different game at 2-2.

From the non goal till muller scored his first England had control of that match (30 min). A whole half an hour to tie it up. The Brit at halftime rightly said Capello should have been able to rally his guys on that. They were completely outplayed by a younger faster team. There are more than enough captains on that team to give some leadership. Lampard was the only man who showed up. Now fuck messi and those Argentinian floppers.

But let's also not deny that England played terrible defense and then laid down like bitches in that second half and fucking quit.

Come on, thats not fair. David James showed up. I bet everyone in England is THRILLED that he did. Seriously, I know green blew that one goal, but he made a few nice saves and bounced back well after that goal. I cant believe that Green is actually worse than a goalie who TURNS AWAY FROM THE BALL when it gets kicked at him.

Overall I agree. Yea 2-2 at half woulda changed how england played, but still, it was only 1 goal and england had ALL the momentum. Plus they were pushing for a goal but didnt HAVE to yet. So chances are in a scoring situation, they still are that far forward even if its 2-2. The point is, they were in the game and dominating play going into the 2nd half and they got there ASSES kicked. They made a couple mistakes on D, James choked his ass all over the place, and then instead of really pressing when it got to 3-1, they just mailed it in.

They didnt deserve to be on the field with Germany today aside from 5 minutes in the first half. And they were already down 2 by those 5 minutes. England ONLY has themselves to blame for losing. Themselves, and their goalkeeper

Great article in the NY Times today on how the "football tradition" of the vuvuzelas ruins other, better traditions, like the samba band that travels with the Brazilian team.

Now I really hate the vuvuzelas.

They are drowning out the Brazilian samba beat, which means they are killing soccer.

This is serious. The Brazilian fans are the soul of the sport, moving to the beat of a samba band that is not totally in their dear sweet heads but a traveling reality.

At every World Cup I have covered starting in 1982, musical Brazilians — well, that is a redundancy if ever I wrote one — have been present. Maybe the same ones, aging gracefully, for all I know.

They move in charismatic packs, into the stadium, bringing gentle horns and percussions, moving to the beat for the entire match. And the wonder of it is, so do their players, even now under Dunga the Disciplinarian.

But now you cannot hear the Brazilians in the stadiums of this World Cup, as Brazil prepares to play the Netherlands in the quarterfinals in Port Elizabeth on Friday. The fans are being drowned out by the witless honk of the vuvuzelas.

What's annoyed me most about the vuvuzelas is that I get the feeling that the people blowing them are just there to blow those fucking things constantly, and aren't paying a damn bit of attention to the game. Which is sad.

Great article in the NY Times today on how the "football tradition" of the vuvuzelas ruins other, better traditions, like the samba band that travels with the Brazilian team.

What's annoyed me most about the vuvuzelas is that I get the feeling that the people blowing them are just there to blow those fucking things constantly, and aren't paying a damn bit of attention to the game. Which is sad.

Ive always heard the commentators talk about how the teams need to be positive and I always thought it to be a silly comment but the second half was a great example of what can happen when a team doesn't remain positive Brazil sort of just fell apart out there.

It clearly should be a rule that if it's going to be a goal, and the illegal play stops it, it should be a fucking goal. Like when a reg player covers a puck with his hand in their defensive crease.

Well, in real man football, if I throw a receiver to the ground when it's obvious he's going to make a touchdown case, the touchdown is not awarded, and you get 1st & goal on the 1 yard line. I think this is more like that sort of situation: you probably can't automatically assume it's going in, but you can put the affected team in a position where they're gonna score unless they really really fuck up.

I mean, I heard a stat that the success rate of penalty kicks in play in World Cup history is about 84%.

we're talking about the same league that employs the refs from the US/Slovenia game and the Eng/Ger game. Who didn't buckle to pressure for instant replay until the US pointed out that if they want the game to grow in the US, they need to overhaul their officiating.

My early "I don't know jack shit about soccer" prediction for the final: Netherlands 1, Spain 1, Netherlands wins in penalty kicks.

And we get a wave of "It's so fucking gay that the biggest sporting event in the world ends like that" posts.

Snoogans won't be happy, but English referee Howard Webb has been chosen to ref the final between Netherlands vs. Spain.

Personally, I like this ref. He rarely calls fouls which is nice because he lets the game flow.

Spain looked impressive shutting down Germany yesterday, and playing "keep away" once they had the lead. They control the ball, and dictate the tempo of the game better than anyone.

I gotta go with Spain 1 - Netherlands 0...

...and agree with a bunch of "this is so fucking boring..." comments to follow.

i rail against him hard, but mostly its just cause he didnt call a couple fouls at the edge of the box in that game Everton beat Chelsea. Damn near cost us the game.

Honestly though, he is one of the better refs. He may, at times, not call things he should, but that means he is never calling things he shouldnt. So I can deal with it.

YOU BALD FUCKIN FAGGOT, CALL THAT FOUL. HE PULLED ARTETA DOWN, IT WAS FUCKIN OBVIOUS YOU SCUM BAG
