The Sanchez extension is just an awful move.
I hope to God this was an issue with Schotty, and not with Sanchez.

The Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals, the first two teams Manning visited, are considered his two likeliest landing spots, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The Seattle Seahawks continue to try to arrange a meeting with Manning, according to sources, but so far they have been unable to do so.
Manning still could wind up meeting with the Dolphins, but indications are that Miami isn't as high on his list as Denver and Arizona

Reports say that if the Broncos get Peyton Manning, Tebow's gone.
The report from Pro Football Talk, which cited an unidentified "source with knowledge of the dynamics in Denver," said the team prefers to trade Tebow rather than release him.
"The visit was productive," a Broncos source told The Denver Post. "The team is hopeful and encouraged by the time spent" with Manning.
Manning's agent didn't accompany him to Denver. Manning is expected to announce his decision when free agency opens Tuesday.

I'm not sure how wise a move this would be, though I am of the opinion that Tim Tebow will never be a great, or even particularly good, NFL quarterback.

Too bad they couldnt convince to move to hb or te
because he probably cant do it. He isnt that fast. He is a great athlete but he doesnt have breakaway speed to shake coverage. he runs well cause he is a QB and he is running through breakdowns and open lanes. Its alot different. I dont think he can get off the line and seperate from a saftey or a good cover LB. besides, no one really knows if he has the ability to catch the ball well enough to do that

True but I'm sure they d love to know before he's traded or released
just for jersey sales and all the hysteria over him alone I'd wanna try to keep him if I was gm
Manning might be the only qb that the Tebow faithful don't go crazy if he comes here to take over
At least that's what I heard not sure if I'd agree they'll be pissed no matter what I think

i don't think denver fans are as bonkers for tebow as people are making them out to be. they clamored for him because orton sucks so bad. most of the tebow hysteria thru the season was non-denver fans. of course they'd welcome manning, assuming he is more than a shell of his former self.

i dont know. i saw a couple of pieces about how denver is incredibly religious, esp with the kinda weird out there religions like tebow has. They said that fan pressure was the only reason pretty much that tebow ever got in. after him winnin the playoff game, they are over the top with him. Its really fucked up, at least the way its been portrayed through the dirty liberal media (WF approved)

I don't deny that I've defended Sanchez a lot in the past, but his plateau and even regression this year, along with Schottenheimer's questionable play calling in 2010 and last year, made me say that I needed to see Sanchez in a new system before I wrote him off.
I could understand giving him an extension after next season if he showed growth in the next season. But NOW? After the Jets publicly flirted with Manning and then giving Sanchez the Vanessa Bryant apology diamond? Are you kidding?
The Jets flirting with Manning could have been the best way to put a chip on Sanchez's shoulder and light a fire under his ass. The biggest complaint about Sanchez is that he's coddled. Now, the Jets FO have all but proven that.
I can only hope this contract is ridiculously incentive laden and it's not as expensive as they are reporting.

I think where Manning winds up all relies on the strength of the offensive line to protect him.
The Cards allowed 54 sacks and 86 hits last year.
The Broncos allowed 42 sacks and 68 hits.
However, the Broncos numbers could be skewed a bit because of how mobile Tebow was.

20 Mil guaranteed is what I heard.
From what I read, they extended him but also restructured him. They freed up some cap space but the Jets are on the hook for another year more than what they were originally on for.
Basically, his old contract, Jets could cut him loose after year three of five (which we were at now) and not have a huge guaranteed money hit, now they guarantee him more money for this year and next year, and then re-evaluate again. I think, that's how i'm reading it.
Still don't understand why they just couldn't keep up the terms of his old contract and why they had to extend it when they had him for 2 years, but maybe freeing up the cap room has something to do with it,

they freed space now, but the deal guranteed him 20 of the 40 in the ext, so its still a pretty big commitment cause if you cut him before the end of 2014 you take a min 20 mill cap hit

F-tags on kickers WTF?
actually a VERY smart move for the Broncos, bc of their offensive structure, thin air and how cheap that controlling tag is for kickers right now with all the young kickers in the league right now.

Why? A rookie QB is a rookie QB no matter how pro ready the draftniks think a prospect is. All we learned last year is without Manning the Colts' talent wasn't all that talented. Addai is lousy, ditto for Painter, Clark is getting older and Brackett and Bullitt are cap casualties from an awful defensive squad. The smart thing is to build a young team around Luck much as they did with Manning.
The worst thing about the Colts was the coaching, as I refuse to think that team was THAT bad. Sorry, they were a boat adrift without Manning bc that coach was just a seat holder.

Jets signed QB Mark Sanchez to three-year, $40.5 million extension through 2016.
It's an apology extension. The Jets put out feelers for Peyton Manning, and they were quickly rebuffed. This is Mike Tannenbaum and Woody Johnson's way of saying sorry. On the bright side, the extension should lower Sanchez's salary cap number in 2012, giving the Jets room to operate in free agency. The downside is much worse, of course, especially if Sanchez continues his regression. At the very best, he's plateaued since entering the league. The extension will make the Jets a much less enticing landing spot for free agent quarterbacks that want a legitimate chance to start. Sanchez won't be "competing" for his job anymore. Mar 9 - 10:32 PM
made me laugh.
THAT part made me laugh. Sorry, it's a fucking business Sanchez and you simply aren't getting it done on your end. Why would they throw money at him to say sorry when he's the reason they NEED to look elsewhere? Bottom line is this guy is fucking coddled in NY and they need to stop it. I would have said this MAY be possible IF you show us we were right to stick it out with you from here on in. If not, we move on. Unreal level of idiotic contracts/extensions. It's up there with Norv's extension. Welcome to stupidity and mediocrity Jet fans!

Like I said from the start, this thing will be ALL OVER bc there are few teams in the league who couldn't use a great qb. As he goes from town to town, you'll see those become the "rumored top landing spots" no matter what was discussed.
My thoughts on Denver are conflicted to be honest. The weather doesn't fit his needs, yet the division is WIDE OPEN for some team to take control, much like when Manning joined the Colts. He has a direct path to the playoffs in the very weak AFC West, much less he stays in the weaker AFC. He stays away from his brother, a tough division and the better conference at this point. His only battle each year would be with SD and Rivers, yet Norv loses in the coaching matchup Fox v Norv.
Another HUGE factor is the Elway factor. To me, this is one of the ONLY ways he can ditch Tebow without the Denver fans going nuts and before Tebow's value completely comes crashing down. You KNOW he and Fox do not want the Tebow style offense one is forced to use in the NFL, much less it's a shot for Elway to get his gunslinger/franchise qb. It's a very interesting fit, but we'll see.
I just think Elway will go ALL OUT to land him and then move Tebow to Jacksonville, or even Miami if they are dumb enough to do so. I think the Jags will make this move and it'll work for their main issue right now, a starting qb who will put people in the seats with the new owner needing to revamp this whole situation. He's simply LOVED down there, and can do no wrong on that shitty team. Gabbert looked like garbage too, so I don't see it being an issue. Perhaps they'd swap shitty qbs with Denver getting some extra and Gabbert gets to learn under Manning?
If all this goes down, and it's a pretty good rundown overall, I see Flynn going to Miami as almost a sure thing. We'll see.

It’s seems to be the logical landing spot due to his relationship with the Coach, but I wouldn't be surprised if the losers of the Payton / RG3 sweepstakes (aka Cleveland, Seattle, Az, or Denver) get seriously involved.

Well as you stated, it has been rumored Brown is gone and that's 17 million right there. Also, they seemingly have more space bc of rollover which may have been reported wrong and we all know Kolb is gone opening up much more if Manning is going there.
It's an interesting landing spot to me for multiple reasons just like Denver. Both the organization and Mike McCarthy have a history of bringing in vet qbs late in their careers and making the needed adjustments to open up the playbook and make it work to the tune of a Super Bowl run. They also have a BEAUTIFUL new stadium, great weather, a top tier WR (if not THE best overall right now) and of course a historically bad division of late. Sure SF is MUCH improved and Seattle decent, but does anyone expect SF to repeat their 2011 season? Or actually fear Seattle? Not me in both areas.

i think they will restructure Levi to lower his cap #. they cant let him go he is currently their best offensive linemen on a team with no one else on that line. Can Manning take that chance of being behind a line that bad?
I just read SF has a shot of signing him too which to me makes so much more sense then ARZ or Den. Actually imho the only team I think he should go to besides miami is SF. i think if they bring in wayne or garcon with manning sf will have a very high quality receiving core with crabtree and davis at te.
as for mia, i just read that they have a 2pm meeting with manning tomorrow but the meeting is between manning and mia hc. manning doesnt want to meet with Ross. WTF? I dont like their wrs (yes thomas has speed and with manning will be better but he isnt Fitz or Marshall), their line isnt that good, their defense played strong down the stretch but wasnt that good overall, they have an old rb who isnt a pass catching back, weather being an issue and the altitude. not to mention they just lost 3 players to suspension b/c of p.e.ds and 2 of those players are starters on the def which you would think would make your def worse not better.
and i understand we are saying its an easier div but lets be honest for how bad sd has played at times they will still be tough to beat and i dont think anyone thinks sd wont be back to top form next year. i see sd getting back to the playoffs and could go 10-6 or 11-5 next year and oak was better last year and should play better with palmer having a full camp with the team.

Well put me down with SD being +-2 games from .500 AT BEST. They are going to lose V.Jackson, lost Dielman (retired and lawsuit to follow) and Castilo, losing McNeil and so much more. If they fail to sign a UFA's like Garay, Scifres and Tolbert (very unlikely), things could go to hell in a mere seconds! SD is a paper tiger until they lose this joke a of a HC and asshole GM. It's that simple.

And honestly, I'd take Denver's WRs over Miami's in a heartbeat...and you KNOW Wayne will be coming with Manning if there is cap room. Denver has that space available.
Am I the only one who would take Thomas over Marshall too? I don't think so, but let's hear it people. Youth, good head and crazy untapped potential versus great talent/fucked up head? It's not an easy call bc it's not like Marshall is old, but he has already been dumped with all that talent bc of his issues.

As I have stated before. The Jets are more about back pages and "owning" the town than actually getting a cohesive team together. They don't check if the players fit on the team or if they have the right attitude.
They thought that twoAFC title losses could propel them over a franchise that has been more successful for the past 40yrs and before this year won a title in the past 4 yrs.
Top to bottom the franchise is a mess. You have a trustfund baby who has never had to earn anything owning the team. He doesn't understand you have to earn respect and success.
You have a glorified accountant as GM with no real knowledge of anything other than numbers.
And you have a big mouth coach who hasn't done shit and thinks he us Vince Lombardi.
Top to bottom no accountability and arrogance.
And before you say it Tenbats. Yes John Mara inherited the team and wealth from his dad. But he has been. With the team and the sport for decades before getting it.

Not sure how you constantly make this a thing bt your team and his, but even with my hate of the Jets, they are hardly this pure mess you make them out to be. Did they bite off more than they could chew with some statements and bravado over the last few years? Surely, but the team has been in the playoffs and at least near them every year since Rex came to that mess of a team. They may not have won it all, but truly making it to two AFC Championship games is pretty crazy looking at their offense and the kid running it.
I think you have to let the comparisons go before you're just as bad as those you are poking fun at.

And for the record I have always agreed with most of this, just don't need it repeated every time a Jet or the org makes the news. In fact, Rex on Mike's radio show finally sounded like he got it now and was becoming more aware of what it takes to be a HC versus a DC calling all the shots and being the fattest cheerleader in the NFL.

I admit that the Giants aren't the greatest franchise in the sport far from it.
I still have a problem with the coaching.
This team can very well not even make the playoffs next year.
They were probably the 6th best team in the playoffs.
Philly is probably winning the division next year.
They showed towards the end that all they needed was time to gel.

Eh, the Giants will be loose and have Cruz all year and can only upgrade at RB if you ask me with Jacobs leaving. I think they'll be plenty good, especially with both Washington and Dallas getting hit with cap violations for last year and losing space to work with now. Takes out two huge free agency player on the market overall for any player pickups throughout the league, much less helping both Philly and NYG in the process directly.

Still don't understand why they just couldn't keep up the terms of his old contract and why they had to extend it when they had him for 2 years, but maybe freeing up the cap room has something to do with it,
Are there any FA's they might want to sign?

It’s seems to be the logical landing spot due to his relationship with the Coach, but I wouldn't be surprised if the losers of the Payton / RG3 sweepstakes (aka Cleveland, Seattle, Az, or Denver) get seriously involved.
Yep, this should turn into a bidding war on an already overpriced back up QB. If Cleveland gets Flynn that helps Mia to get Tannehill.
hanso

i think they will restructure Levi to lower his cap #. they cant let him go he is currently their best offensive linemen on a team with no one else on that line.
WTF? That should mean mia is all but out. Ross and Ireland are killing this team. They need to fire this shit box GM and get a new GM in there now and let him run the team!
Heard the OC will also be there along with GM.

He's a good fit for a team that relies heavily on a zone blocking scheme, but he's a sub-par pass protector and and a bad fit as a power blocking tackle. I can't imagine he'd fare well with the Jets.

Just like I said though Snacks, there is no "best fit", it's a fucking free for all and the winner will be the team that gives him the best shot in the end combined with financial gain (contract, tv & ad opps) and of course the family factor (his brother in NY and daddy's opinion/push).
I put Houston out there a long time ago as a SF like opp as Manning being the missing piece. Both have a suitable qb coming off career years, but are they good enough? And let's be honest, do you think Manning isn't thinking of one last shot at a Super Bowl? Both these teams give top shots versus the others in contention. Still, Houston could simply be hoping to drive the price up on the Titans just in case, or at least gage how serious they are by jumping in. We'll see...as I keep saying. It's a clusterfuck and ESPN loves it.

I originally thought we would know by Sunday or Monday the latest b/c free agency starts tuesday but maybe he isnt in a hurry but that will knock out some suitors. That's cool.
When I moved to Cleveland as a kid, we moved in next door to Dick Ambrose, starting MLB for the Browns:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51yqEHNjHxL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
A pretty modest house out in a suburb. I have no idea what the Browns were paying their guys in the late 70's / early 80's, but it couldn't have been a helluva lot. If I wasn't told there was an NFL player living there, I never would have guessed it. But once we knew, his house was "hands off". He also had two german shepherds as a reminder in case we forgot.
The only "extravagant" thing about his life was a pretty hot wife, and he had a delorean in his garage. It was a big deal when he'd bring it out and we'd get to see the doors open.
I wasn't a Brown's fan when we moved there, but I was a huge fan by the time we left. He and some of his teammates that would speak at our football banquets and stuff were a big reason why I started following that team, and still do to this day. That 1979 "kardiac kids" team I watched that first year won me over.
He stayed in Cleveland, and became a judge. Still looks like he could kick some ass. I'd have shit if he was the judge ruling on some of the cases I've had in my life.

I LOVE this signing!
He was just one of 50 weapons with the Saints but showed great ability. In SD, he'll get a great shot to light shit up and be a top target, if not a number #1. Even Colston doesn't get the normal amount of looks for a top target bc Brees goes all over and loved his slot guys and scat backs. In SD, Norv will make Meachem a beast...and we'll go 9-7 and lose the division and he'll get a contract extension with AJ Smith.
Though I do like them holding their ground on V Jax, bc he was an asshole in the end with the two dui's and his hold out. Fuck him. I hope he has balls tossed behind him all year in Tampa and has an awful year stat wise.

Now I will finally agree that to me Mia not only isnt the top choice they should be out of it. Trading Marshall after this latest incident was probably the right move for the team. We got him for 2 2nd round picks and after 2 seasons and $11 million cap # this year I have no problem with getting 2 3rd round picks. But also not signing Wayne there is no reason to go to Mia.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer disputes reports that the Browns have pursued free agent QB Matt Flynn.
"Reports that they're set to make offer [are] untrue," adds beat writer Mary Kay Cabot. CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman confirms the Plain Dealer report. It turns out that Flynn's market may be softer than he expected. The Browns are slow-playing the process while the Seahawks appear to be concentrating on Chad Henne. The Dolphins, still believing they have a shot at Peyton Manning, could end up bidding against themselves for Flynn.

Eagles re-signed franchise player DeSean Jackson to a five-year, $51 million contract.
The deal reportedly includes $15 million guaranteed. D-Jax had been set to make $9.4 million under the franchise tag. It's curious timing since Jackson appeared willing to play under the tag coming off his disappointing 2011 "prove it" campaign, but with the receiver market all but dried up, the Eagles are gambling a new deal will motivate a player who phoned it in at times last year. Jackson is still just 25, and has never posted fewer than 900 receiving yards in four seasons.

My fav free agent signing so far. Love this kid, wanted Mia to sign him so we didnt have draft a TE. Hes big and fast for his size, has good hands and is a great blocking TE and has the talent to be a great receiving one as well.
Giants signed TE Martellus Bennett, formerly of the Cowboys, to a one-year, $2.5 million deal.
Although he's largely underachieved since being a second-round pick in 2008, Bennett was arguably the best tight end on the market, and will finally get to step out of Jason Witten's long shadow. He'll be playing for a quarterback who has always locked onto his tight ends, and will likely be the G-Men's primary pass catcher at the position with both Jake Ballard and Travis Beckum recovering from torn ACLs. Bennett might finally be in store for his long-awaited breakout. Still just 25, he's a "buy" in dynasty leagues.

Also added a nice run stopping LB from Baltimore which is much needed in Jarret Johnson. A touch past his prime I think, but he'll fill a big hole.

I like the Jarret Johnson and McClain signing a lot but Im not sold on Meachem. He has show flashes of greatness at times in NO but has also looked below avg at times too like he didnt even show up in some games. He was one of SOOOO many options there, and he simply was down on their depth chart bc Brees is REALLY close with Moore, and always had a kinship with slot wrs and smallish scat backs out of the backfield. In SD, I expect Meachem to get awfully close to 1000 yards and 10 tds. In fact, if healthy he should exceed both. We will see, but I think it happens. He's now the #1, and with that does come better coverage, but Rivers can hit him in stride just like Brees and he'll be the fastest guy we've had with size in a LONG time.

And don't underestimate the Gaither resign. After he was cut by the Chief, SD brought him in to spell a nothing short of AWFUL McNeill who was getting torched and it coincided with SD's turnaround. Rivers was getting toasted from the blind side all year up until that point, and Gaither never gave up one sack once in. He was night and day vs McNeill and if he can keep his body and mind in order (not easy), he's a HUGE upgrade. Hardwick always has been awesome for us and just a grinder/leader every team needs.

Jason has really never had a chance to relax within a system he knows and is comfortable with. He played under 4 different coordinators at Auburn, and then rode the carousel through multiple sytems in Washington and then Oakland. He's never had decent o-lines or many weapons at either place. Especially the skins. Linemen going down weekly. Constantly shuffling and filling holes. The one thing the kid knows how to do is to learn a new system quickly. I like that he's getting a chance to work with Martz.
But more, this is a HUGE upgrade for the bears, and finally someone to push and challenge Cutler. And I can relax a little knowing that if Cutler goes down, they don't have to forfeit the rest of the season like they did last year.

You suck.
I think we all know my opinion on this one.

My fav free agent signing so far. Love this kid, wanted Mia to sign him so we didnt have draft a TE. Hes big and fast for his size, has good hands and is a great blocking TE and has the talent to be a great receiving one as well.
Quote:
Giants signed TE Martellus Bennett, formerly of the Cowboys, to a one-year, $2.5 million deal.
Felt this way over Laurent Robinson he never even checked back with Mia after feelers put out. WR seemed much bigger need after BM left.
They already have a serviceable TE and one up and coming speedster in Clay.

Royal pickup for SD pretty damn solid if the price is right. REALLY needed a punt returner and slot guy, and he's ranked 3rd over the last 3 years to Hester and Edleman, and 2nd last year to only Hester!
Not to mention his value is down A LOT playing with Tebow as a route based underneath slot guy. He almost hit 1000 yards as a rookie a few years back with a mere mortal tossing him the ball, so Rivers might make him look pretty solid.

I fucking love this whole situation, where all the experts keep guessing but they know NOTHING. It's amazing.
SF is definitely his best fit. Plus, all the other dumb things to go with it. Like playing for Brady's favorite team when he was growing up, throwing to Brady's favorite receiver, playing for Andrew Luck's college coach, possibly playing his brother for a shot at the Super Bowl, etc. It's awesome.

Obvious reasons I don't want Manning in Denver, but even in Tenn it keeps him in the conf and I'd like him to get in that HUGE QB haven now known as the NFC!
How the hell can they pick just three for the pro-bowl?
Manning, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Stafford just for starters. Next you have Romo, Newton and the possible Vick rebound.

What irks me the most is that the vast majority of the NFL beat "reporters" or anchors acted like they all had the inside track on what Manning was thinking or going to do and were simply guessing with some factors in mind. Most went with the flow too, basically regurgitating what was already stated and or said previously. Very few took the wait and see approach and just gave the pros and cons of him going to any team. All they had to do was that and state MANY teams will be in and out of the conversation when someone this good hits the market in free agency in the most important position in the sport.

Everybody wants to be right, and in the end it's just guessing anyway. The true reporter lays it all out there and stays unbiased in his/her approach versus trying to make their theory fit the news. They report the facts and simply keep us informed w/o all the bullshit hype our sports reporting has turned into bc of espn, short attention spans and assholes like Colin and Skip all over tv and radio. Half of what they do is just fan the flames of idiot fans, and people consider it entertaining? Oof....

Who knows if they are willing to go full bore after Manning in the end, but I do know he changes my outlook on that team immediately. They go from a sure to drop to a clear force in the NFC. In the NFC West too, hell they were pretty much the champs in week 8 this year without him!

And yah, Elway and Fox truly don't want to go to war with Tebow again...especially with a guy like Manning and or Flynn out there. Both traditional pocket passers, one with amazing skills/past...the other youth and ready after years with GB and Rodgers.
At this moment you KNOW Jacksonville will give plenty to get Tebow too JUST to put people in the seats in Florida. And let's face it, they have the RB to play his game, not to mention a lack of good wrs overall. By mid-year if playing in Denver, I fully expect Tebow to be completely exposed and his value dropped significantly to say the least. In Jacksonville, 7-9 might be fine to keep his fans around and drive tebow hype down there.

Stanton makes it official and signs with the jets one year. Not a bad move, but nothing special as far as backups go. He does however give Sanchez a backup around his age and probably someone who will help him out learning the new system and to back him in the locker room better than the terrible old business man from Jacksonville.
Chaz Schilens signed as well by NYJ, and not a bad fill in guy and or 4th wr in passing situations. He's bigger than most realize at 6'4" and never saw much action in Oakland mainly bc suckbag Campbell was there and before that worse (mr. purple drank).

An associate of Matt Flynn acknowledges to the Miami Herald that the free agent could sign with Seattle before leaving for his Dolphins visit.
According to SI.com's Peter King, the Seahawks are "serious" about Flynn after losing out on Peyton Manning, Chad Henne, and even bridge QBs such as Kyle Orton and Jason Campbell. Seattle would have to make a huge offer and the promise of a starting job to keep Flynn from flying to Miami. ESPN's John Clayton suggested Thursday that Seattle might only offer a deal in the range of two years and $12 million compared to a $40 million deal over five years from the Dolphins.

Even if they give him $8 million per year with bonuses or the way they word it im sure they can easily fit his cap # around that $5 million if thats all they have left in cap space. Is he still under contract with Tenn, are they going to cut him, any rumors of where he will go if Manning goes to Tenn?
The Sacramento Bee reports that the Seahawks are scheduled to host free agent Alex Smith after his Sunday meeting with the Dolphins.
Perhaps most interestingly from the Bee's report is the fact multiple sources tell beat writer Matt Barrows that Smith is "upset" with the 49ers for their pursuit of Peyton Manning, and there is a "growing belief" Smith might not return to San Francisco regardless of Manning's whereabouts. Smith is also unhappy with his agents, who rep both him and Manning, and the San Francisco Chronicle has reported Smith is considering firing CAA. In 2011, the Niners did everything in their power to minimize Smith's impact on games, consistently keeping his pass attempts totals low and beating opponents with running game and defense. Clearly, they're not going to go out of their way to keep him.

My only problem now is, there is no one left to get that I do want. I say fuck it start the rookie from Delaware and see what happens. If he sucks then mia will suck and we can draft Barkley next year!
Seahawks signed QB Matt Flynn to three-year, $26 million deal.
The deal includes $10 million guaranteed. It's $2 million less than Kevin Kolb got from the Cardinals last summer. The second best quarterback on the market may have been hoping for more, but it's an impressive haul for a former seventh-round pick who's attempted all of 132 career passes. It's certainly a gamble for the Seahawks, but one worth taking after their quarterback-duo of Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst effectively killed any real shot they had of making the playoffs in 2011. The Dolphins are now left to woo David Garrard and Alex Smith

Bums me out that Flynn new the system HC wants best. However there are a few QB's in the draft that know it, and Smith could learn it from what I hear.
Dolphins are busy making a super sized chair to have David Garrard come into FO on Mon..

Im not talking about last year and last year we didnt offer him money (i dont think we did). Im talking about now, how come no one has mentioned his name at all during this Manning situation? If Manning signs with Tenn they have to release him so he would be worth looking at as a stop gap for some teams.
As for Flynn, I dont think Miami really wanted him. If they did dont you think they would have offered more? A lot of people are saying Miami lost out and some have said maybe they didnt lose maybe they chose not to overspend or go all in for Flynn because the HC knows hes not worth it? I dont know, to me Flynn seems to be more media hype because of 1 game then a top free agent QB we were told he was. All along we were told there was going to be this huge market for him that GB was going to franchise him to trade him. They backed off because they obviously knew there wasnt a market for him and they couldnt chance paying a back up $14 million for 1 year. Then we were told all these teams that would be interested. Turns out only 2 even talked to him and they waited a full week into free agency. Im sure some of that had to do with Mannings situation but no teams really seemed to be in a hurry to do anything with him. Now 11 days after free agency he gets a 3 year deal when we heard 5 and 6 years from many in the media? I heard before that Sea let Mia make an offer and they topped it. I would love to know what Mia offered because that report of 5 years and $40 million was obviously not true because he would never take $14 million less and now pay taxes to go somewhere else.

Even less then originally reported. I really do believe Miami didnt want him. There even saying that Sea hasnt given him the starting QB job either that its a competition between him and Tavaras Jackson (who sucks).
The base value of Matt Flynn's three-year contract in Seattle is only $19 million, with $10 million guaranteed.
The initial Flynn report claimed he received a three-year, $26 million deal. Per the Milwaukee-Journal Sentinel, however, Flynn's base contract is just $19 million with $5 million more available through incentives. It appears the remaining $2 million could be had via "unlikely to be earned" incentives. Either way, it's a much more team-friendly deal than the Cardinals gave Kevin Kolb last offseason. Even if the full "guarantee" is only $2 million less. If both Flynn and Kolb emerged as viable starting quarterbacks, the Seahawks would be paying Flynn much less than the Cardinals would for Kolb.

the guy just got a pretty nice contract based on a very limited sample size so I'm not sure where all your take is coming from
GB could have franchised him easily and move him to quite a few teams but chose not to as per many press releases saying he deserves his time to choose himself and it's not the way GB operates. They loved the guy and wished him well, and your take is making HUGE leaps now bc he signed elsewhere? I know you mentioned you didn't want him in Miami, but to me he's got a nice look to him to be a mid-level qb to make most teams respectable. He's not Rodgers, but can be the next best thing to Hasselbeck in Seattle or better? We'll see, but guess where Seattle got Matt H from too?
Same path my friends.
