some recent news updates about manning and where he could play. i would love to see him go to miami but its scary at his possible price tag unless he goes on performance based which he might have to based on salary cap concerns by most teams.
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1493/peyton-manning
Citing two sources, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Miami is on the "short list" of places Peyton Manning would be willing to play if released by the Colts.
A Dolphins source tells the Miami Herald that Peyton Manning has indicated several times throughout his career positive feelings for South Florida.
"His wife is also a big fan of the area," the source said. "He likes the area. He likes the vibe of the area more than you might think. They own a condo down here." Manning will have plenty of time to spend in the area when his career is over. Expect offensive personnel, franchise stability, and quality coaching to trump geography on Manning's list of priorities.
NFL Network analyst Marshall Faulk believes Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is "too much of a control freak" to allow Peyton Manning to "come run his offense, do his thing."
"And I'm not quite sure if Kyle Shanahan could call in the play to Peyton and have Peyton listen to him," added Faulk. Manning is three years older than Kyle Shanahan. Perhaps a bigger concern is that the Redskins offense is nearly devoid of above average talent, and Manning will likely be calling his own shots in free agency.

I forget where the story came from but allegedly Archie didn't want the chargers to draft Eli bc Peyton was in afc and that's why he wanted giants and also bc of bigger market bit sd is near la so that's not sensical but if that's true then there's no way he goes to Washington in Eli's division let one conference and although he may not want them both in same town I can see him making a pass and be ok with jets but Miami does seem like best fit
Got a stud we in b marsh good rb in bush draft or trade for a decent tight end and offensively he'll be good
Then you could have Brady vs Peyton twice a year

This isnt a kid coming out of college and signing his first contract. Im pretty sure Peytons going to go where he wants to go, not where Archie wants him to go. That being said, for about the NFC east because I just dont see him wanting to fight over a playoff spot with his brother every year.

Exactly...so Washington is probably out.
I also don't think he & Eli want to spend every minute of the regular season having every moment of their lives compared, dissected, observed under the microscope of media market #1, therefore a really good option in the NY Jets becomes a lot less attractive.
Then there's Arizona. A chance to throw to one of the three best WRs in the league, a lovely new stadium, and just about nothing else.
I'm sure people can think of a few others (Houston was apparently mentioned recently), but when you look at everything the best option appears to be Miami. Decent defense. Pretty good WR1. Warm weather city. AFC team, so the only chance to meet lil' bro in the playoffs is in the Super Bowl. AFC East team, so the NFL can salivate over Peyton/Brady at least twice a year right off the bat. A franchise with some mystique & history, especially at QB. It just makes sense from every angle I can think of.
It's something I hate to admit because if Peyton comes back & plays anywhere near his previous level it will make my life a living hell listening to cousin Snacks rosterbate over his beloved Dolphins...but it is what it is...the Phins are the best fit.

ooooo mike said one quick blurb manning might play for the dolphins! ha! it must be fact then!
that guy is always right and boy did they dig deep into the data.
miami is nowhere near competing in division, much less in the AFC/NFL
i doubt highly it's the lead pack still and Snacks is indeed being a homer. nobody once said they wouldn't be in the running, almost any team with any kind of hole or possible desire for an upgrade run would at least look into adding Manning. the problem is one guy just thinks it's all miami bc he IS a homer and every time it's even mentioned he blows a load in his pants. he's even got his cousin in on the bullshit, but I have to watch the jokes bc I might get a COMPLETELY IDIOTIC pm from him if I make a joke or rip him too much filled with righteous indignation and bullshit ties to shit not even HINTED at.
so yah snacks let's bring it back up and be snarky bc some fat radio host and FLORIDA papers hint at it. Guess what, you can say plenty about the Jets too, but most here aren't claiming it's the "best fit" and it's confirmed bc it's hinted at. I'm sure Denver, Cleveland, Minny, Washington, Jax, Tenn, Oakland, KC, TB, St. Louis, Zona and Seattle wouldn't even kick the tires. Hell, surely teams like NYJ, Houston, Baltimore and SF wouldn't even fathom the thought of landing this guy while strong and give it a run for a few years too right? No team close lacking at the QB position would even think of that right? It's clearly Miami where he'd land bc he's the rare person that has property or vacations in Florida and Miami...how odd.
Just stop. Can it happen? Sure. But this "BEST FIT" shit is fucking stupid and beyond comical linked to a 2 second blurb by a guy just bs'ing on the damn subject in odd air bt ex radio hosts.

There is a couple of things not mentioned. A new coaching staff this year always brings up questions. Also, its a tough division to play in. The Jets and Bills are pretty tough and New England will be a contender for the division every year. Houston would probably be a better fit actually.

is Schaubs career over or is he a free agent? if not how could they afford both of them? thats the thing many teams that might want him cant afford him especially if they have an above avg priced qb already under contract. A lot of talk about him going to the jets but other then the fact that I dont see him wanting to play in the same city as his brother they have no cap room.

True but it depends on contracts. He might have x amount still guaranteed and there are some contracts that still count against your cap # even if you cut them. I dont know what schaubs contract terms are, is he has a huge guarantee or huge cap #.

rotoworld has him being a free agent in 2013 and only under contract for 2012 at $7.15 million. If thats all hes owed then they do become an option because they would have to sign him to a long term deal after next season anyway. So if your choice is a healthy manning or schaub im sure they would take manning.

I would love to see Payton sign with miami but this could hurt them if they put all their eggs in 1 basket. Sounds like Ross will wait or do just about anything to sign manning if hes released.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/2012/02/sunday-buzz-column-with-the-dolphins-trying-to-upgrade-their-offense-especially-at-quarterback-right-tackle-right-guar.html
If the Dolphins are led to believe by agent Tom Condon that they’re a serious contender for Manning when he's released – and that his arm should be strong enough by the start of the season – then they are expected to wait as long as necessary on Manning if he doesn't make a decision quickly. That's because owner Stephen Ross is infatuated with the idea of signing him. The Dolphins believe they have a realistic chance of luring Manning, who owns a condo in South Beach and has an affinity for South Florida.
If Manning doesn't choose a new team by March 13, the Dolphins would risk losing out on Flynn, whom they like but have clearly less conviction about than Manning. But that would not concern the Dolphins if they believe they can land Manning.

So much for that.
Now there is this.
"According to an Adam Schefter report, sources close to Peyton Manning are saying, if the Indianapolis Colts were to release him, he would be willing to work a "flexible" contract with his new team. Basically, Manning would work a deal that would guarantee little money, with most of the salary in either roster bonuses, or on the field performance incentives. This could alleviate a lot of the health concerns teams may have for Manning"

If it went by record I wonder where you guys would be picking? Maybe somewhere in the middle of the draft like 17th or so?
Im happy for you NYG fans and the fact that a 9-7 team won gives a lot of other teams hope that they could win and turn it around quickly but it is kind of fucked up that a 9-7 team with the worst ranked running attack and 26th ranked defense won the SB. Times have changed!

i believe 20th. 12 teams make the playoffs so all the first 19 spots are the teams that didnt make it. There may have been a team or 2 that had a better record in the AFC and didnt make it, but i believe they were all 9-7 at best

Titans are 20 th and didn't make playoffs and were 9-7
Bengals are next at 21 made playoffs and were 9-7
Broncos were 8-8 but made playoff and won a game and wouldn't be at 25 if it went by record

That's usually a good thing unless your team is the Redskins, which means that they probably traded away what would have been a #3 or #4 pick to get some past-his-prime bum.

Damn them homers saying Peyton will go to Miami? Even in Washington they are saying it and saying exactly what I said. I never said he was definitley going to Miami but I did say the best fit for him was probably Miami, not as a Miami fan but evaluating the entire league imo that is the best fit or may I say the place I felt/feel he would go for many reasons
And yet one of the reasons I said he wouldnt go to Washington it comes out in this article.
http://wexaminerd7.prod.acquia-sites.com/sports/redskins-confidential/2012/02/eyeing-qbs-peyton-manning/247151
The article is long but gives reasons for him going to Wash (not many) and why he wouldnt. But 1 of the things I and many have said is he wouldnt want to play against Eli. Turns out that might be true among other reasons like miami having a better overall team with better play makers and defense.
Others have attractive situations: Miami has more playmakers on offense and a solid defense.
One NFL source said that it was tough for Manning to play his younger brother in the past; would he want to do that twice a year if he has another choice? If he signed with Miami, he could stay in a conference he knows and face teams he’s familiar with. He has a home in Miami (and has since 2007). Maybe Joe Philbin comes from the Packers system, but he’s a rookie head coach. If the owner signs Manning – and it sounds as if he wants to – then the owner will demand that he craft an offense for him. And Philbin will say, ‘Yes sir.’ Why? Because he’s a first year coach who has no power. And while the Redskins can improve through other means so, too, can other teams who are starting with a higher talent base. The Jets, if they want to unload Mark Sanchez, could be an option. They have explosive talent -- but also locker room issues with some of that same talent. They do have a top-5 defense.
tough to bet against a Dan Snyder/Shanahan combo. But right now I’d probably lean toward him going to Miami. That seems to make more sense, at least for now
Sometimes we should let others state their opinion without attacking every word or opinion and admit when we are wrong. Thats not saying he wont go elsewhere or even Wash but the original argument is "The best overall fit for him"!

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/19/plaxico-burress
TheSidelineView.com's Adam Caplan expects the Eagles to pursue free agent Plaxico Burress this offseason.
It was no secret last offseason that Burress wanted to play for the Eagles, leaving prison in a Philly ball cap amid multiple reports that they wanted him. The Jets won a bidding war, giving Plax over $3 million guaranteed. Caplan believes Burress could upgrade the team's red-zone offense, and points out that in-house supposed red-zone target Riley Cooper "doesn't fight for the football" enough to excel in that role. The Eagles likely would not be signing Plax as a starter. He'd be a third receiver and inside-the-20s guy. Feb 8 - 11:46 AM
If Jackson is gone they might have to sign plax. So they are going to give Jackson his way with a huge pay raise and trade him? Why?
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4659/desean-jackson
The Sideline View's Adam Caplan believes the Eagles will shop DeSean Jackson around the league after placing the franchise tag on the free agent later this month.
NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora has suggested the same scenario several times. Highly respected around the league, Caplan has an especially good read on the Eagles. Should Philly find a trade partner for Jackson, they would likely to turn free agent market or the draft to find a replacement. Feb 8 - 11:44 AM

the only reason I disagree about D Jax going to NE is they need a big, tall wr more then another small wr. They already have Welker who isnt a deep threat but they need some size at wr. They have a great overall receiving core with Gronk, Hernandez and Welker. Welker is a free agent who they will re-sign or franchise. I doubt they are willing to give D Jax the $8-10 mil a year he wants.
As for Peyton to SF. I think the reason you dont hear much about this is they are going to re-sign Alex Smith long term (again) from everything I have read or seen on tv. SF does have a good wr/te combo and a good rb with a good def. It seems like a good fit.
I read something the others day about a comparison between Peyton and Reggie White as free agents. They said when Reggie was a free agent every team in the nfl showed interest. But that wont happen here. The reason was every team could have signed Reggie even if they already had a great DE because you need more then 1 and start more then 1 so signing Reggie would only make your team better. Most teams would love to have Peyton but you can only start 1 QB and many teams have guys and there are many reasons why a lot of teams cant even bother going after Peyton. They even mentioned Arz which could be a good fit but the owner spent way too much getting Kolb as far as picks and money so the article said Arz will not go after Peyton. When I originally gave my opinion on where he would/should go and fit well I looked at all the teams and their current rosters and who they either have starting or will be starting as well as the Eli/Family factor etc. There truly were only like 5 or 6 teams that made any sense and when you took into their current talents, where they played and salary restrictions thats how I came up with Miami being his best fit. Like I said it was only an opinion but weighing his potential choices to ME I thought that would be where he chose. Still dont know if he will and Im sure many things can happen between now and when he signs. I just hope if he does sign with Miami he is at least similar to the player he was in Indy.
How fucked up would it be if after all this Indy decided to keep him? Great for him and Indy because it would be nice to see him stay there but after months of this media watch and nothing happened. The nest few weeks should be interesting!

Packers, Finley work out two-year contract (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/22/packers-finley-work-out-two-year-contract/)
With a potential franchise-tag fight over whether he’s a tight end or a receiver looming, Jermichael Finley and the Packers have come to terms on a new contract.
According to a league source, a two-year deal was finalized on Wednesday. The contract has a total value of just under $15 million
Interesting. This leaves their franchise tag available for Flynn if they have the ability to tag & trade.

we will see but i think it may hurt the trade because hes not worth the money. if the dolphins were smart and im not saying they are they will know all this and make a shitty offer and let them get stuck with him if they dont like miamis offer. gb would be the one needing to make the trade more then any other team wanting him.
http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thedailydolphin/2012/02/22/green-bay-packers-signing-of-te-jermichael-finley-could-be-bad-news-for-miami-dolphins-pursuit-of-matt-flynn/
But the move would also come with significant risk. The franchise tag for quarterbacks this year is expected to be between $14.3 and $14.9 million, and if Green Bay somehow can’t trade Flynn, it would be stuck paying an exorbitant salary to a backup who might never see the field. And the Packers don’t have much salary cap space as it is — about $5 million before the Finley deal was consummated, though they are expected to create more space soon by cutting pricey veterans.
The Dolphins are a logical landing spot for Flynn simply for the fact that he worked with new Dolphins coach Joe Philbin for the last four years in Green Bay. Seattle also could be in the mix, as it needs a quarterback and general manager John Schneider helped draft Flynn in Green Bay in 2007.
But the franchise/trade scenario could decrease Flynn’s value to other teams, and Green Bay might not have the bidding war it would want for Flynn (especially with several other QB options potentially available, including Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Peyton Manning).
And the Dolphins still view Manning as their No. 1 priority and will make a big push for him, assuming he’s healthy and cut by the Colts before he’s set to receive a $28 million bonus on March 8. If the Packers decide to tag-and-trade Flynn, it could cool the Dolphins’ interest in the unproven quarterback, who has just two starts in four NFL seasons. Or, it could leave the Dolphins as the only trading partner after other teams back off.

So does Cleveland. One will move up to grab RG3, if I were the Skins I'd make that happen, but they are going to have to pony up. Cleveland's pick is more attractive as the Rams could slide back to the 4 and snag Blackmon, as they need a WR in the worst way.

The Packers do not plan on Franchise tagging Matt Flynn
According to a source on ESPN Wisconsin they will not franchise him for fear of either not having a trade partner or going into trade talks for a long time and losing out on signing free agents because Flynn would take up 14 million of their cap room. Also the source says that the Packers are not a franchise that runs business that way.

so st louis would still be on the hook for that even though they traded him? i would have thought the new team would be responsible since it was a trade. why is that?
if thats the case stl has to trade the pick or draft him and then trade his rights during the draft.
i would rather see miami take rg3 instead of paying more for finley. finley will probably want $8-10 mil per over 5 or 6 years. RG3 would get around what Cam got which would be around 4 years $22 mil.

the team you trade the person to is responsible for only the salary. Bonuses which are guaranteed are prorated through out the years of the contract. If you trade a guy, whatever was left that was prorated from the original bonuses hits the cap in one shot. Bradford has a 7 mill roster bonus in 2 years that the new team would eat, but all the rest the rams gave him upfront. so they would have to eat that proration at once to deal him.
that is the reason trades are very rare in the NFL, even more so than cause of the complex playbooks to learn

Thats not entirely true. He has played 2 (started) games and played well in both of them. The game this past season he started and played the entire game and broke GB records. The game may have meant nothing to GB but it meant something to the team they were playing (Det) and they played full strength all out against him and he had one of the best games in GBs history!
I do agree he doesnt deserve huge top tier qb money but he is worth taking at mid level nfl starter money. If you can sign him for under $10 million and not a huge guarantee he is worth that chance. I would give him around 4-6 years at around $7 - $8 million a year with only $15 -$20 million guaranteed.

That is all they talk about on the station (is it me or is every caller black), the Capitals could win the cup and the first call would be about how Grossman sucks.
As we know most top flight QB's don't come into an ideal situation, the reason the team got that great pick to draft is you're bad. With that said if they think RG3 is the real deal, Washington needs to do everything in its power to land him. It doesn't matter who he hands the ball off to or throws it too, you need a good QB to win in the NFL today. The Receivers and RB's are a lot easier to acquire and plug in around the QB than it is vice versa.
With that said with the current roster Helu has tons of upside, Hightower looked good last year before his injury, if he returns to full force with Shananhan as the coach the running game will be fine. As far as receivers you can snag a free agent, They have Moss, Fred Davis is a good looking TE and imagine trying to chase down Griffin and Banks on end around type plays, they will be fine, they just need that QB in the worst way.

As a lifelong Redskins fan, I can say I agree with this. You have to have a stud Qb before anything - and the Skins have lacked this for so long. And their record shows it. Trade up, get RG3 and lets bulid a dynasty. Please dont draft a corner back and end up with shit for a QB again this coming year.

Accosri got a ton of shit for the Manning deal and for a few seasons it looked like a mistake because Eli was avg to below avg at best. Especially with his accuracy. But now boy was he right. Its a franchise making or killing gamble, but one you have to take if you ever want to win a SB. You have had instances where an OK QB wins. But its rare and you need an all-time D for it.

the team you trade the person to is responsible for only the salary.
I dont know what to believe now. ESPN PTI was just arguing that STL should trade Bradford and draft RG3 too. Not once did they mention anything about it not being able to do it or fit it under the salary cap etc. All they mentioned was how RG3 will be cheaper and has a higher upside.
Snoogs where did you find this about Bradfords cap hit still going against stl not the new team hes traded too? And if everything you said is accurate couldnt they re-do Bradfords contract to make it more cap friendly in order to trade him?

Take a look at a layman's attempt to breakdown the cap hit for Bradford
Base Salaries:
2010: $320,000
2011: $405,000
2012: $1,205,000
2013: $2,005,000
2014: $2,805,000
2015: $3,605,000
All of which are guaranteed according to Jim Thomas
Now on to bonuses:
2010 roster bonus: $2,880,000
2011 spring roster bonus: $17,974,000
So that is $10,345,000 in guaranteed base salaries, add in the bonuses and he is at $31,200,000
Escalators in his contract moves his contract from 31.2 million to 78 million. 19 million of which is guaranteed.
So if he were traded or cut all of his guaranteed money comes due immediately.
Base salaries: 9.62 million plus 19 million in new guarantees for a whooping 28.62 million against the cap.
Can this team afford to have almost 29 million in dead money next year?

i just know from what he got. they gave him 7 years and like 52 mill guaranteed. i remember them sayin 45 of it was upfront. any money up front gets prorated, so it would hit the cap for around 7.4 mill a year. I was a year off though, he has played 2 years now, so the remaining number would be 52-14.8. So the cap hit right now would be 27.2 million if they cut him. The lawyers pursuing the concussion lawsuit against the NFL will have a field day with this: (http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/feb/27/dielman-leaning-toward-retirement/)
Kris Dielman is close to announcing he will retire, people familiar with his intentions said.
Neither the Chargers nor Dielman will confirm it, but even as many close to the team and Dielman seemed convinced he would continue playing, sources confirmed in Indianapolis over the past two days that the All-Pro left guard will reveal his intentions “soon” and is “leaning toward” retirement.
Team sources and people close to Dielman have indicated for weeks that Dielman has completed his medical research and said he appeared ready to play again. Dielman finished 2011 on injured reserve and had for several months been considering retirement following a concussion and seizure he suffered in October.
For those who don't remember, Dielman suffered a concussion on a play, staggered around a bit, went to the sideline, received a brief exam, staggered back out on the field and then on the flight back home after the game suffered that grand mal seizure.

Sometimes we should let others state their opinion without attacking every word or opinion and admit when we are wrong. Thats not saying he wont go elsewhere or even Wash but the original argument is "The best overall fit for him"!
you're still dead wrong
no matter how many times you parrot the words of others to back it up

They just need to make an example out of it. Stuff was discovered like that everyone knew about it but still didn't stop it. I think with the Patriots, they acted like only the coach knew. I also think a lot of teams were spying, but the Patriots got caught and made an example of (which I was ok with - if you're going to break the rule, you need to be prepared for the consequences). The same thing will happen with the Saints. They got caught and now they're fucked. They have no #1 this year, but they'll almost definitely lose 2013 and possibly 2014. Coaches may be suspended and hefty fucking fines coming for the organization and probably Sean Payton.

i think there is a difference between being a hard hitter and legally tryin to crush people as opposed to offering cash payments to try to injure dudes and knock them out of the game. You could kill someone or paralyze them at anytime playin football on accident, is it really neccessary to try to injure people? I dont know, i think its scumbag.
But even still thats not hte main reason for a harsh punishment. the main reason is cause they gave payments that were under the table and circumvented the salary cap and may have actually caused them to go over if reported for all we know. I know 10 grand doesnt seem like much but if you are giving a few guys that every game thats illegal payments. thats the biggest issue i think as to why the penalties will be severe

Campbell has had multiple chances with multiple different offenses to try and shine and hasn't. I have never liked him and hope he doesn't come close to miami.
As for the link, I have been thinking that all along but the only reason to not get to worried is everything falls in place and gives miami sometime for each step. on the 5th we will know if Flynn is franchised. If not that gives us til the 13th before we could even talk to him. We will know if Manning is set free or not on the 8th. If he isnt then we know we will going all out for Flynn if he is set free we have 5 days to sign him before we need to make a decision about Flynn. If we sign him within those 5 days then Flynn is no go if we dont then Miami changes its attention to Flynn. If we lose out on Flynn we then hace 10 days or so to make trade offers to move to #2 and take RG3 and if that fails we are fucked. But if that does fail we might be able to re-sign Henne is he hasnt signed already.
I will say this, if we dont get manning, flynn or rg3 I would love to have Henne back and go 1 more year with him and an offensive minded head coach and a really good offensive coordinator. If not why not give last years rookie from Delaware a shot? Going into the draft last year he had all the tools to be an nfl starter and had a bad combine and fell from a early round pick to not even being drafted. If all esle fails fuck signing a campbell or orton or grossman and try someone new. I hate that teams recycle shit qbs and never give a young late round/undrafted guy a chance til its too late.

no if hes franchised his rights are owned by the team and only they can decided what to do with him. if they want to trade him they can or keep him but no team can talk to him it would be tampering.

for trading for a franchised player perhaps
There are two types of franchise tags and the Saints offered Brees the exclusive one. It means Brees is guaranteed more money nest season and no other team can offer him anything. The other tag would have guaranteed Brees less money but allowed another team to come in with a monster offer.
I just learned this reading an article about it today. I thought the franchise tag was always exclusive.

so did i, i only thought you could negotiate a new deal with someone elses franchised player if and only if the team that owns that players rights is willing to trade him and gives you permission.
that being said i doubt brees tag is anything but exclusive. he got fucked because he was offered $18 mil and wanted $23 mil but now will only get $14.4 mil. another fucked up thing is they could now franchise him again next year and then see if its worth resigning him after that. So they could now have gotten him on the cheap for 2 years. After that he will be 35 and then they might move on or at the very least get him cheaper at that age. i think it sucks because he has done so much for that franchise but it is a business and he was asking for a lot more then they offered and at $23 mil per year he would really make it hard on his team to sign or keep other players.

As far as receivers you can snag a free agent, They have Moss, Fred Davis is a good looking TE and imagine trying to chase down Griffin and Banks on end around type plays, they will be fine, they just need that QB in the worst way.

they also do it because other free agents on their team arent worth the high franchise tag #. lets say they have a wr they want to keep but cant agree on a deal. if they franchised him the # would be somewhere around $9 - $10 million. But maybe that wr isnt worth that # but they have a kicker who they dont want to lose and to protect him he will only get a few hundred grand more then they were offering.
Example would be Garcon from Indy. They are only offering him around $7 mil a year. They arent going to overpay him for 1 year by close to 50% more. But Weatherford they might have been willing to offer 3 years $6 but couldnt agree just yet, so they lock him up they franchise him and hope to negotiate a cap friendly #!

If I have to hear one more time that Peyton doesn't wanna come to NY because his brother is here or doesn't wanna play in the AFC East because it means facing Tom Brady twice I'm gonna lose it.
The guy's a competitor and isn't afraid of Tom Brady.
That defense was one of the worst ever against the pass last year ( if I remember correctly they were close to being the worst all time ) so why the hell would Manning be frightened of them ?

I agree except the 1st part. I dont think he would want to play in the same city as Eli either. But why wouldnt he want to play NE and their shitty defense. If he goes to a team with a good def he will have an easier time scoring on NE then Brady will on whatever def Mannings team has.
At this point there are so many stories out there that this is hard to follow. hopefully he signs over the weekend and most of this will stop.

In a perfect world he might chose to not play his brother 2 times but if the opportunity was there, say a long shot like Dallas, I think he'd do it.

I don't think that Peyton Manning is on the same level of douchebaggery as Favre, so I don't see the ability to "get even" with the Colts entering into his calculations at all. He'll go to whoever can pay him, and whoever has a chance in hell of winning. If that means he'll play the Colts, or that he plays Eli nmore, I think that's cool with him. Why? A rookie QB is a rookie QB no matter how pro ready the draftniks think a prospect is. All we learned last year is without Manning the Colts' talent wasn't all that talented. Addai is lousy, ditto for Painter, Clark is getting older and Brackett and Bullitt are cap casualties from an awful defensive squad. The smart thing is to build a young team around Luck much as they did with Manning.

Jets signed QB Mark Sanchez to three-year, $40.5 million extension through 2016.
It's an apology extension. The Jets put out feelers for Peyton Manning, and they were quickly rebuffed. This is Mike Tannenbaum and Woody Johnson's way of saying sorry. On the bright side, the extension should lower Sanchez's salary cap number in 2012, giving the Jets room to operate in free agency. The downside is much worse, of course, especially if Sanchez continues his regression. At the very best, he's plateaued since entering the league. The extension will make the Jets a much less enticing landing spot for free agent quarterbacks that want a legitimate chance to start. Sanchez won't be "competing" for his job anymore.
