I watched Beck's show this week and he does raise some valid questions.
No, he doesn't.
He got elected President by winning a majority of electoral votes. The people he has surrounded himself with got into his cabinet because he chose them.
The questions that Beck is raising are pointless. If you don't like the President or his choices for the people he has surrounded himself with, don't vote for him in 2012. Until then, come up with some ideas to tackle the problems we face as a nation.
Yep.

What would you do
If you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom?
What would you do
If asked to make the ultimate sacrifice?
Would you think about all them people
Who gave up everything they had?
Would you think about all them War Vets
And would you start to feel bad?
Freedom isn't free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don't all chip in
We'll never pay that bill
Freedom isn't free
No, there's a hefty in' fee.
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
Who will?
What would you do
If someone told you to fight for freedom?
Would you answer the call
Or run away like a little ?
'Cause the only reason that you're here
Is 'cause folks died for you in the past
So maybe now it's your turn
To die kicking some ass
Freedom isn't free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don't all chip in
We'll never pay that bill
Freedom isn't free
Now there's a hefty in' fee
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
Who will?
You don't throw in your buck 'o five. Who will?
Oooh buck 'o five
Freedom costs a buck 'o five.

Name some names. Let's hear your concerns...
Here's the list Glenn Beck posted:
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
THEN PRESIDENTIAL-CANDIDATE BARACK OBAMA: Let me tell you who I associate with. On economic policy, I associate with Warren Buffett and former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker. If I'm interested in figuring out my foreign policy, I associate myself with my running mate, Joe Biden, or with Dick Lugar, the Republican ranking member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, or General Jim Jones, the former supreme allied commander of NATO. Those are the people, Democrats and Republicans, who have shaped my ideas and who will be surrounding me in the White House.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
We already know of at least five radical leftists currently advising our president — and these are just the ones who are open about their radical beliefs and far-left ideas:
• Van Jones, green jobs "czar" — admits he's a communist
• John Holdren, science "czar" — proposed "compulsory sterilization" and forced abortions to control population
• Cass Sunstein, regulatory "czar" — proposed bans on hunting and eating meat and proposed that your dog to be allowed to have an attorney in court. And a fairness doctrine for the Internet, which he has since stepped away from
• Carol Browner, global warming "czar" — was part of Socialist International, a group for "global governance"
• Ezekiel Emmanuel, health care adviser — proponent of the Complete Lives System, which puts values on lives based mostly by age
according to Harry Reid: "This legislation is the first step in building a clean energy economy that creates jobs.... The Apollo Alliance has been an important factor in helping us develop and execute a strategy that makes great progress on these goals and in motivating the public to support them."
Jeff Jones, fomerly of the Weather Underground (http://apolloalliance.org/state-local/new-york-state/new-york-state-partners/) is on the board of the Apollo Alliance.
Beck makes some interesting points. Some of it may be a stretch, but the White House isn't denying any of it. There are people and organizations that do not have the country's best interests at heart and some of them are apparently writing the bills that our congress vote on but don't read, while others have been appointed as Czars. Meanwhile, many Obama supporters have started to remind me of Eddie Murphy Raw. You have made the "ooooooooOOOOOOooooOOOooooh!" noise and will listen to any explanation the President offers about his connections to these people.
He got busted coming out of another woman's house. His woman saw him come out, knew that the woman lived there and didn't say shit.
Wait till they got home and said:
"What the hell was you doing
in that bitch's house?"
You know what the man said?
"Wasn't me."
"I looked right in your face!"
"Wasn't me."
"Well, I'm supposed to be a fool, right?"
"Hey. Wasn't me."
You know what the woman said?
"Maybe it wasn't you."

I'm sorry, but Beck has intentionally omitted the bulk of their careers for the sake of putting them into this grand clan of Communists that he has surrounded himself with, picking out one single opinion/idea they had in college. I start looking up those names, they all seem overly qualified to be in the positions they were appointed for. So, again, he was elected President, and the President gets to pick who he wants to surround himself with, so, tough fucking titties, vote him out in 2012.

The White House won't address these absurd concerns giving them any validity.
Van Jones called himself a communist over the Rodney King verdict, it was an objection, not a party switch. I don't understand the logic, other than he was probably mad at the time.
John Holdren wrote an article presenting options and solutions for over population, not what should be made law. All valid points. Forced abortions was not part of those solutions.
I'm not sure about the others but I guarantee the list that Beck has is distorted, if not flat-out false.

The way Ezekiel Emanuel's name has been dragged through the mud makes me sick. (http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1915835,00.html)
This is stuff he wrote in January of this year. (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203706604574374463280098676.html)
In the Lancet, Jan. 31, 2009, Dr. Emanuel and co-authors presented a "complete lives system" for the allocation of very scarce resources, such as kidneys, vaccines, dialysis machines, intensive care beds, and others. "One maximizing strategy involves saving the most individual lives, and it has motivated policies on allocation of influenza vaccines and responses to bioterrorism. . . . Other things being equal, we should always save five lives rather than one.
"However, other things are rarely equal—whether to save one 20-year-old, who might live another 60 years, if saved, or three 70-year-olds, who could only live for another 10 years each—is unclear." In fact, Dr. Emanuel makes a clear choice: "When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get changes that are attenuated (see Dr. Emanuel's chart nearby).
Dr. Emanuel concedes that his plan appears to discriminate against older people, but he explains: "Unlike allocation by sex or race, allocation by age is not invidious discrimination. . . . Treating 65 year olds differently because of stereotypes or falsehoods would be ageist; treating them differently because they have already had more life-years is not."
The youngest are also put at the back of the line: "Adolescents have received substantial education and parental care, investments that will be wasted without a complete life. Infants, by contrast, have not yet received these investments. . . . As the legal philosopher Ronald Dworkin argues, 'It is terrible when an infant dies, but worse, most people think, when a three-year-old dies and worse still when an adolescent does,' this argument is supported by empirical surveys." (thelancet.com, Jan. 31, 2009).

Of course! Government's ultimate goal is to kill off all the people that created it.
I think the Republicans should let them kill off the old people. Old people are statistically Democrat, and they ALWAYS vote.

He is the man advising Obama on healthcare reform. These are his beliefs as of January of this year. The article provides some of his beliefs from further back if you read it. As far as killing the elderly, no I do not think that they will be using euthenasia to remove them or putting bullets into the back of their heads. I believe that they will do what Obama says and give them painkillers instead of an operations.

You are going to have to do a shitload better than an op-ed by Betsy McCaughey. Anything would be better than that, including a crayon drawing of a frog from a 5 year old. I have not seen someone so eagerly and indiscriminately flat out lie. She is the source of the death panel nonsense, in addition to many other fabrications about health care reform now and in 1994.
As for organ allocation I can tell you from personal experience that they already discriminate, and they have to. After the most important factors like blood type and size are filtered through they have a ranking system that takes into account a range of factors including age, underlying conditions not related to the transplant, family and financial situation, treatment compliance and current health, all in hopes to match the organ with the patient who will live the longest post-transplant. If having to choose between a 25 year old and a 60 year old for an organ transplant with all other factors being equal they will give it to the 25 year old not because they don't care about the older person but because a 25 year old body has a better chance of recovery and living longer than a 60 year old body. This doesn't apply to infants in organ donation because they only compete with other infants for organs. They don't have to compete with a 5 year old or a 15 year old or so on even though McCaughey tries her hardest to make it seem like it.
He's delving into very difficult ethical issues that someone has to address because we do not have infinite resources. And his reward is having his work hacked to bits by liars like Betsy McCaughey. She is destructive to any intelligent discourse in this country. And I am not going to take even the slightest claim of her's seriously without reading the entire Lancet article for myself.

Do you just willfully misinterpret Obama's quote on the painkiller issue? If someone is elderly, it can be worse to operate on them, 1) when it has a low chance of improving their life 2) the operation can possibly kill them due to the trauma 3) it can be unnecessary and expensive.
He wasn't trying to say "hey, just feed them pills, they'll get better." No, sometimes, a person passes a point where operations will not effective save someone's life. A doctor will usually intimate that to someone, and there become a point where all you can do is make someone comfortable.
It's like, no one has ever had to deal with a terminally ill or old relative or friend. It's retarded.

The elderly are not always in shape to endure surgery and the necessary physical therapy afterwards. And yet there is every incentive for the doctor and hospital to go and do these surgeries anyway. There is certainly no incentive for them to pass. Sometimes surgeries don't make sense and someone has to step in and make the difficult choice and say no, this isn't justified. We can't just say yes to everything no matter how little sense it makes. And the financial interests at work can't be understated. Even after multiple studies came out saying that stents in most cases do more harm than good when dealing with heart disease doctors and hospitals continued to implant them. It made them more cash at the end of the day than the alternative which would have been better for their patients.
These kinds of end-of-life health care decision eat an incredible amount of money and we have to make smart and very difficult decisions about what is worth it and what isn't.

That sounds an awful lot like getting between the patient and the doctor to me. Who is this "someone" that has to step in and make that difficult choice of saying no? Your point about Doctors continuing to implant stents after studies said they do harm in most cases seems to indicate that they shouldn't be used in the cases where they do good rather than harm. Did you learn that in med school? Doctors don't do unnecessary surgeries to line their pockets. They don't do surgeries on people that aren't healthy enough to survive them. I know Obama said they do, but that's a lie. The pediatrician that decides the tonsils need to come out refers that to a surgeon. Does Obama think the pediatrician gets a kickback for the referral? Doctors are trained to make these decisions and should be the ones helping us make them, not the govt.

Did you learn these things working in the healthcare industry?
Actually, I learned them growing up around the healthcare industry. My dad is a radiologist. I played a lot of sports growing up and plenty of broken bones and other issues that have had me in and out of hospitals, ER's, physical therapist and sports therapists offices. I also studied physical therapy in college. After I graduated high school, I spent over 2 years in a short arm splint with a broken left wrist that surgery had a 10% chance of healing. My orthopedic surgeon recommended against the surgery. I know lots of doctors and I don't know any that are performing surgeries to line their pockets.
That sounds an awful lot like getting between the patient and the doctor to me. Who is this "someone" that has to step in and make that difficult choice of saying no?
The representative for the party paying for your care whether that be a private insurer, Medicare, Medicaid or the public plan should it come into existence. We don't have unlimited amounts of money. Somebody has to ration care.
The people making this decision are medical professionals and doctors who do research and measure the effectiveness on the treatments they are paying for, both generally and in specific cases.

First of all, cut the condescending bullshit. Not everyone who disagrees with you is a mindless sheep. I know what I am talking about.
And I said that doctors have every incentive to go ahead with surgeries where the outcome is questionable. I highly doubt there is any significant amount of doctors who consciously think it through but you can't ignore the market forces.
The problem with the drug eluting stents was real. (http://www.managedcaremag.com/archives/0606/0606.stents.html)
Cal Weisberger, MD, buys stents as one of his responsibilities as regional chief of cardiology for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. Yet he grapples with the need to purchase the quantity demanded by his community.
"Around 70 percent of people getting an angioplasty don't need a stent," says the chairman of the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Regional Product Council in West Los Angeles.
Why then spend scarce funds for stents? "It's worth it because the community's perception demands you use the item," he says. Stents are being inserted so that the medical practice avoids losing patients to other practices that insert them during angioplasty.
The pediatrician that decides the tonsils need to come out refers that to a surgeon. Does Obama think the pediatrician gets a kickback for the referral? Doctors are trained to make these decisions and should be the ones helping us make them, not the govt.
Doctors are not infallible. If they were being paid for outcomes (how healthy their patients are) that would be one story. But as it is they have to service their customer and make them happy. Sometimes that equals prescribing an antibiotic and perhaps even an x-ray when the doctor knows the patient has a cold that will resolve itself. They don't want the patient leaving feeling like they were ignored and not coming back. And it goes all the way up to demanding a stent after a heart attack even if the patient would be fine without any significant intervention.

Everybody that disagrees with Obama isn't a mindless sheep or a paid GOP operative. What is the incentive for doctors to perform surgeries that they don't need to? Are you talking about the malpractice lawsuits? Can't be that. They come out on the wrong end of that. There's lawyers waiting to slap a lawsuit on a doctor for any minor fuckup and they are under extreme scrutiny. Put somebody under an for unnecessary surgery? That's just asking to give up your career and go be homeless somewhere. When you put somebody under, there is always a chance that something goes wrong and they could die. It's offensive that you think doctors are doing that. They aren't mechanics out stiffing housewives with massive repairs that they aren't even doing and the comparison is disgusting.

Doctors are not infallible, but they do not have to prescribe anything just to make the customer happy. An X-ray when the doctor knows it's a cold? Where are you hearing thiss stuff? That's not medicine. That's a restaurant. The stent thing is absolutely insane. The community dictates to the doctors that they want stents and there's some sort of community situation where they are all out talking about how don't go there they don't use stents and that's enough to cut into the angio business?
When I was born, my legs were a little crooked and they put me in a cast from my toes to my hips and a bar between my knees to straighten it out. You know what they do for that now? Not a damn thing. Why? Because it's unnecessary. When my daughter had the same thing, they x-rayed her to be sure and then explained it to us. My mom came to visit and practically demanded that they do it, but the doctor explained to her that it's not handled that way anymore and why, etc. My daughter's got straight legs. The doctor didn't cave to my mother. He said they have explain that to lots of grandmothers because that's what was done with their children. The guy in that article is a crappy doctor because he practices bad medicine because he wont explain it to his patients. That isn't the norm. That's one moron.

Keeping myself insured is literally a life and death matter for me. If I ever have a gap in coverage my only choice is to stay in poverty so I can qualify for Medicaid. So I have experience with many incredible doctors. I haven't had one bad doctor experience in my life and I am grateful for that. You tell me how awful it all is and that the doctors are doing all this insane shit just so they can make a buck, which is essentially regurgitating Obama's and the Democratic Party's talking points. And then right off the heels of it you say "I have experience with many incredible doctors. I haven't had one bad doctor experience in my life and I am grateful for that." I'm giving my opinion based on my experiences. The opinion you give of doctors doesn't seem to mirror your experiences at all. It's like talking to two different people.
I'm acting like a child? Your buddy epo is in the actual healthcare thread taking shots at my radio station because he's lost the argument. I'm sure if I respond to his crap, you'll defend his childish bullshit like normal. Don't sit around pretending that I've never been attacked in any of these threads simply for having conservative opinions. This entire thread is all about how stupid Fox news is and the idiots that watch it. The whole thing is an attack on people like me and I'm the child here? I'm the one that's combative? You guys are hilarious. I've given my responses in the format that is accepted within the politics section of this board. I have given exactly what I've gotten on this board for the entire time I've been posting here. You guys sure dish out enough of it, you should be able to take some back.

As far as my comment on doctors go, I feel lucky that I've had good experiences. But national policy cannot be formed on the basis of my personal anecdotes. There's proof enough of that in the experiences of those I know in similar situations to mine. But there is a tremendous amount of waste for a large number of reasons and not one party involved in health care is innocent. In this instance I was talking about doctors. And I could go on and on about doctors or insurers or hospitals or other providers or on and on. The entire system is a complete, nonsensical mess.
If you can defend the shit posted in here that's been on Fox News do it. In the latest instance it's incredibly difficult to take Glenn Beck seriously when he has moved from calling the Obama adminstration socialist to communist to Nazis to fascist to racist to now an oligarchy. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. At this rate he will run out of insults by Obama's 14th month in office. And if you can't defend who gives a shit? I'm sure people on MSNBC say really stupid shit too but I could give a shit. Cable news in general is garbage.
If you have a problem with epo, deal with epo. I'm sure you've been attacked but if you are going to be firing in every single direction every time you post here that is all you will ever end up doing. Any dumbass can throw out insults. Not everyone knows what they are talking about or can make a cogent argument. A lot of people can't even spell what they supposedly think politically.
I take this issue personally because of it's impact on my life and the way people are throwing around lies in this debate is intolerable to me. People are simply ignorant about this issue and why shouldn't they be? Most people rarely use their insurance and the system has become so bloated and complicated that it takes a long time to make sense of it. The problem comes when people are so angry at the adminstration that they choose to believe absolute nonsense. Why the hell would Democrats want to set out to deny care to old people? How does that do them, or the country, any good? Who would think to themselves "I'm ready to destroy my political career to make sick seniors suffer!" You have to surrender your common sense to buy that. It's why I don't need to read any bill to know its complete bullshit. Who the fuck would do something like that? it makes NO sense. It is no different than the people who screamed "No War for Oil!" The argument slanders it's target with an inhuman regard for life. It forgets that no matter how different we see issues in this country we all want the same thing: to make things better. But any hope for a meaningful dialog was destroyed this month by idiots spouting lies they read somewhere. I think it would be a horrible, horrible thing for this country for sick people to continue to suffer because of a groundswell of angry ignorance.

I watched Beck's show this week and he does raise some valid questions. Obama has surrounded himself with some people who you wonder how they got into his cabinet.
If Bush's cabinet was so high and mighty . Why did so many leave on their own accord?

I try not to air my personal business on the board which is why I'm not going to go into any more detail than what I say. But I can promise you I have much more experience using the health care system than you. I have multiple doctors I see on a regular basis, taking many prescription drugs everyday, have had all sorts of in and out patient procedures, have had physical injuries and have a family member who has been through more than me. Keeping myself insured is literally a life and death matter for me. If I ever have a gap in coverage my only choice is to stay in poverty so I can qualify for Medicaid. So I have experience with many incredible doctors. I haven't had one bad doctor experience in my life and I am grateful for that. I keep myself educated on our health care system and insurance because I have to. I don't need to listen to Obama or liberal groups or anything. I live in the system every fucking day and that's how I form my opinions.
With that being said I'm done dealing with you until you stop acting like a child.

If this was true then you would know that a hip replacement is more than just a plastic part. It is a long painful operation and is not one that every old persons body can handle. And their is a huge difference in doing hip replacement surgery on a 20yo vs a 70yo. And my MIL had a kidney transplant and I can tell you everything from age, sex and even number of family members able to care for the person are taken into consideration right now.

I'm not sure if you're trying to call me a liar or what here with that "If this was true" thing. When you compare organ transplants with replacement implants like knees, hips, etc... the "resources" are vastly different. One is a limited supply of living tissue, the other is mass produced manufactured goods. Of course I agree that when you are talking about replacement organs, you want as much longevity out of that organ as possible. The hip/joint/etc replacement, the most important part is if the patient is healthy enough for the operation.
Basically you just agreed with me so I'm not sure why you indicate that I might be full of crap with my past experiences with the industry.

yeah i reread that and was like what was my point.
Im not saying bs to you but im just saying that its more than resources that are a factor and yes apparently we agree on that.
The health and ability of the patient to recover is already taken into account and just because some guy builds a "scientific" graph to represent it doesnt mean the administration wants death panels. Its common sense to consider these things and I would expect that to be in a health care bill.

I do love how when Beck was working for MSNBC, he was all about health care reform, but when he's working for Fox News, suddenly we have the best health care system in the country and we should accuse the other side of being Communists, because if it can work in the 50's it can work in the 00's.

You make it out like I was a fan of Bush. I wasn't. I wasn't able to vote during either of his elections, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have voted for him.
I wasn't a fan of Bush awarding positions to people who did not deserve them. People have shown that people that Obama has given positions too have qualifications. Yes, some of them do. But that doesn't negate the fact that they have 'radical' stances on issues.
Also, Obama has put some people in charge of things that don't really make sense, kind of like Bush did.

And, again, We the People elected him President because most of us feel that he knows what he's doing, so to nitpick his Cabinet when we have more pressing issues is a smoke screen meant to hide that the other side has no valuable insight into issues facing our country and instead insists that it's Obama who's the problem.

So until I see clear evidence otherwise, I'm going to have to conclude that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990.

How is what you are doing any different from the attacks on Beck's advertisers? Van Jones is more than qualified for his job. Fox News knows how to serve their audience better than anyone else. They know how to play the game better than anyone else. They know exactly what to give their audience to keep them coming back. I like how he mentions we are turning our back on countries that have been out most reliable friends and the first country he mentions is Iran.
annnnnnd Republicans continue wondering why Iranians who remember the Shah hate us. The whitewashing of history that goes on is incredible if politicians like Huckabee are buying into it, apparently.

So, as you'd expect, Glenn Beck isn't impressed that President Obama will be making an appearance on behalf of getting the Olympics in Chicago. To boslter his argument, he makes this observation:
"Vancouver lost, how much was it? they lost a billion dollars when they had the Olympics."
Slight problem here:
RHETORIC: BECK SAID VANCOUVER LOST $1 BILLION WHEN IT "HAD THE OLYMPICS."
Glenn Beck said, "Vancouver lost, how much was it? they lost a billion dollars when they had the Olympics." [Transcript, Glenn Beck Show, 9/29/09]
REALITY: VANCOUVER'S OLYMPICS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE UNTIL 2010. Vancouver will host the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games from February 12 – 28, 2010 and March 12-21, 2010, respectively. [Vancouver2010.com, accessed 9/29/09]

While Beck tainted the whole thing with his madness, he does have a point: cities that host the Olympics tend to ultimately lose money because of it. He's just scrambling to find any reason to trash Obama, but there's actually a nugget of reality within his ramblings this time.

When I was thinking about the Olympics being held in Chicago I thought that it would actually increase revenue. I did no research on that, but just assumed it.
So is the upside to hosting the Olympics more about showing the rest of the world that you received the honor and showcasing the upside to your city and country?

You know, let me speak to the good journalists out there because I believe there are few. Those journalists who are at NBC or ABC or CBS or CNN, I know decent journalists over at CNN. Ask yourself this question: When they're done with Fox and you decide to speak out on something, the old, "First they came for the Jews and I wasn't Jewish." When you have a question and you believe that something should be asked, they're, A, totally fine with you right now. They have no problem with you. When they're done with Fox and talk radio, do you really think they're going to leave you alone if you want to ask a tough question?.

Yeah, um, I don't get any of those things. Ok, breathing, but that is only because I have a government issued ventilator.
I am amazed that there would be any cross-over from Fox News ( I watch it sometimes to laugh at O'Reilly's "independent" view point, or see Hannity make up outrage over some topic, but I think it is all a gimmick) and those other things you listed and the R&F show. Ron preaches being open to ideas, accepting others for their individuality. That is not how I see Fox News.

I have an older friend who is a Vietnam vet and an avid Fox news watcher.I used to ask him during the Bush administration how he could support a president who I thought was making alot of the same mistakes as the country made in Nam.Specifically tying the hands of the ground troops, not giving them the numbers that they needed, and not even giving supply lines a priority.Especially dragging his feet when it came to armor plating the Humvees. It never seemed to bother him.
Fast forward to now. While neglecting all of these issues during the Bush years Fox has now decided that Obama is endangering the troops and in effect committing treason by not immediately sending tens of thousands of soldiers over to Afghanistan. They do not mention the fact that he isn't sending more troops until after they hold a new election because the latest one was a sham.
Fox also started airing emotional tirades from veterans denouncing Obama all day long. It's funny that when Bush was president they never aired any criticism of his military policy.
Naturally my Fox news friend is incensed and enraged and calls me trying to bait me into an argument over these alleged injustices by Obama.Other than the fact that I think my friend is pig headed and short sighted politically,he is a good guy.I enjoy debating him on issues and will often do so just for sport even if I agree with him.I really have a hard time holding respect for him lately because of the above. It really burns my ass that so many people get their news from only one source and refuse to admit that the source has bias or agenda no matter how many times you prove it to them.
Of course, the same could be said of MSNBC it's just that I don't know anyone who gets their information exclusively from there while I know dozens of people who get their news exclusively from Fox.

As a vet, the 1st Gulf War, Somalia, and Bosnia are during my service time. I joined under Bush the first and served under Clinton. Times were hard in the Army in 1994 and 1995 with budget cuts, we had to take supplies from a mothballed hospital, pay issues, slow promotions, going to Bosnia short on personnel, could not repair vehicles, etc. But, as a soldier I could not bad mouth our president or I'd certainly face punishment. Into Clinton's second term things improved money, training, and supply wise but no where near what it was under Bush 1. This hurt our troops who headed to both combat theaters. But things did improve for them as it did under my service.
Now, am I pissed that Bush Jr led us back to Iraq for an unjustified war... hell yes. Obama has to clean that up and deal with Afghanistan which is more of a justified war on terror. It is a real tough spot for both our president and our troops right now. The first year of any presidency always is, more so under war. I just hope Obama does not cut funding, raises troop levels in Afghanistan, and keeps NATO involved while pulling out of Iraq.
Of course, the same could be said of MSNBC it's just that I don't know anyone who gets their information exclusively from there while I know dozens of people who get their news exclusively from Fox.
News agencies should be judged on two things: Independence and agenda.
MSNBC has an agenda (unforunately) and is independent (good). Fox has neither, which is why they are treated so poorly.

News agencies should be judged on two things: Independence and agenda.
MSNBC has an agenda (unforunately) and is independent (good). Fox has neither, which is why they are treated so poorly.
Independent? MSNBC is owned by GE, who's CEO is on Obama's Economic Recovery Advisory Board. So much for independence.
Obama friend and campaign finance chairwoman Penny Pritzker also is on the board, as is Caterpillar Inc. Chairman-CEO Jim Owens and General Electric Co. CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt. Two labor officials -- Anna Burger of Service Employees International Union and Richard Trumka of the AFL-CIO -- also were named to the 15-member board designed to offer Obama advice as he seeks a way to weather the crisis and rebuild the economy. (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/02/06/obama-names-advisers-help-fix-economy/)
Thank you for serving.

About the only thing thus far I can fault Obama on regarding the 2 wars is not listening to his generals nearly 2 months ago and elevating the troop level in Afghanistan.
As for Fox news and it's reporting style I can not comment as I do not watch the news, I read it from multiple sources like the AP, Reuters, Al Jazera, BBC, etc. I have read frrom Fox new's web site and find it just a bit more biased than CNN and especially MSNBC.

You may not realize that you're repeating democratic talking points, but the topic is Fox news and everything you're saying about Fox news reads like a "Why Fox News Sucks" press release from the White House or a transcript from last Sunday's White House anti-Fox media blitz. You're getting your opinion about Fox News handed to you by friends and all your other news sources, which means your information isn't even 2nd hand. There's news shows and opinion shows on Fox. The opinion shows are absolutely positively 110% conservative.
You are, however, correct about Monday Night Football. Congrats. Hopefully the Redskins won't be too embarrassing tonight.

I'm not trying to be a dick.I apologize if I came off that way.I don't however read or listen to criticism of Fox,MSNBC,or any other news source.I've been around the block a time or two and I can recognize spin and bias when I hear it no matter where it comes from.If there was an "I hate MSNBC" thread I would probably not post in it at all because I quit watching them when they crowned Obama king half way through the primary.
I only posted in this one because I have first hand knowledge of what they say and do because they are one of the stations that I listen to.I just want to repeat that I have friends and family members who ONLY listen to or watch Fox.They seem to be more misinformed than the rest of the people in my life, republican, democrat,or independant.
My point is simply that if you get all of your information from only one source all you know is what they want you to know.Fox has a definate agenda and their news is geared to support it.If you tell the same half truths and lies over and over people will believe them.Same goes for all others but this thread is about fox.

There's really no defense for any source of American TV news. Even the "best" is still wallowing in the bottom of the barrel when it comes to journalistic ability, integrity and quality. Fox is far and away the absolute worst and the epitome of the shittiness of American television news, but it's not like the alternatives are much better. MSNBC and CNN are wretched themselves. I think what sets FoxNews apart is that they are so in line with the republican agenda. MSNBC doesn't seem to be in line with democrats, as much as they are simply anti-republican (really, anti-FoxNews). In the end though, both are pretty useless and terrible examples of journalism.
The internet (and cable news) has virtually destroyed integrity in journalism. Its funny that the idea of everyone having a voice seems like such a wonderful idea, but its really so awful.

I actually make an effort to say "Democratic Party" when it comes up in my posts because I've heard you complain about it before, but sometimes I do accidentally miss it. I'm not sure what's so offensive tho. I hear people all the time say "I am a Democrat" or "We are Democrats", etc. The domain name for your party is www.democrats.org. I don't think people are doing it to intentionally offend you or members of your party. It sounds correct to most people and that's why they say it. This is getting out of control. He should be put in jail for 3 months and HBO should be taken off the air for 3 months to give them time to think about what they have done - and they should be fined and the money put to the federal deficit. We are allowing too much freedom of speech when it goes against the core values of our country. WE ARE A CHRISTIAN NATION and like it or not, WE WILL SURVIVE. All of you (including Obama and his Chicago Mafia family) are on a path of destruction. We will band together, and you WILL lose. It's time for someone to step up and say ENOUGH!

Love the opening line of the article:
Comedian Larry David pushed the mocking of religion over the edge in latest episode of his HBO show, critics say.
Yeah, basically making fun of the Jews every single episode was fine, but NOW it's been "pushed over the edge."
If people want to be pissed over these things, hey, that's their thing, but some perspective would be nice. It's like the people who get mad over The Simpsons or South Park: these are shows that make fun of everything. Why is your beff any more special than anyone else's when it comes to a show like this?

The people of this world follow one of two fathers. You either follow God the Father thru the Lord Jesus Christ, or the father of this world Satan. If this guy does this, you know who his father is! We can pray and preach the word, God will take on the punishment of this man. And He will
would he pea on a yomaka of thr jewish faith or something of the atheist believers, why something of the Christian faith. does he believe in anything but dollar signs. He needs to be tared and feathered and run off the air waves. To give attention to someone like him is what he wants. He's an idiot
This act is an abomination of desecration! Perhaps not the very abomination which we were warned to watch for, but surely one that every Christian everywhere should take note of, as evidence that Satan's hold on this world is stronger then it has ever been!
Totally unacceptable...good thing is that mr. david will be held accountable...he WILL bow down and he will confess that Jesus is Lord and then he will be thrown into the lake of fire for eternity...even though it's not right for me to say this as a Christian...I'll be very happy when he is gnashing his teeth for eternity, and don't think for a minute he won't... and then he won't think it's very funny.

If he is not brought to task here on this earth he most certainly will when he dies and tries to cross over to heaven. I was watching a program the other night about the big bang and how we came to be - as far as I am concerned GOD had everything to do with it or else we would be on all fours eating grass. People start thinking things none of this happened to be happening it was all a part of God's plan. Fox news has some of the worst shows. Is there anything lamer than Red Eye or Fox and Friends? Fox news should not attempt humor.
Agreed. I can't even fathom the person who can watch either show seriously. They might has well be indigenous people from the amazon who have a totally different concept of people and life due to the fact they live alone in a jungle.
there is absolutely NOTHING on television at 3 am. sometimes red eye is the only thing to watch. it may not be great, but it's better than some colon cleansing infomercial.

That being said, this sounds like teribbly funny situational comedy. I have not seen it, have only heard the situation laid out.it doesent sound as though larry attempted to direct the splatter to paint the walls. Probably won't see it as I don't get to watch tv often and when I do...its not cable.

The way the epsiode happened was, Larry was on a medication that caused him to piss a lot and with a lot of pressure. They set this up early in the episode. He then visits a house that has the Jesus painting in the bathroom. While he is peeing a drop hits the eye of Jesus and looks like a tear. He panics and debates whether or not the clean it, and leaves instead. The owners of the painting then think it is a miracle.
The way Fox news reported it, you would think he ripped the painting off the wall and pissed all over it, laughing gleefully.

No, sorry I didn't. If I'm near a tv I'm probably w/ friends and not paying attention. I was mostly responding to that catholic league cuningham ? There's plenty to be pissed about..... but that just sounds funny . I've had similar urination experience where the walls got rained on from the floor up.....I can see it hapening and find it painfuly humorous.

When I listen to left radio I hear many more acusations of "propoganda and lies" where as the fox does seem to deseminate....... I've said it all before. I appreciate humphries, and hedgecock....but I turn on hartman and rhodes as well.
What I do know is that these masive bills aren't getting read and that congress pushes them through fast so nobody can read them.... that is all of our problem.

There are times when everybody's gotta drop the inane liberal/conservative bullshit. If your news channel of choice is Fox, good for you, but there are times that you to call them on this shit...and the same with fans of CNN or MSNBC. They had this non-story as their top story earlier this week, and fanned the flames with by insinuating that Larry willfully peed all over a picture of Jesus. That is not what happened, and as many have stated he's an equal opportunity offender...and I do believe there is an episode where he acted in a similar manner towards a Middle Easterner. No, he didn't pee on Mohammad, but he also didn't really pee on Jesus.
Now let's talk about putting aside the political party games that are ruining the net neutrality debate. People are choosing sides based on what their party's leadership wants, and not because of what is right for the people.

I think it' amazing how people can simply turn off the tv if something offends them, but they chose not to do that.
Imagine the reaction, though, if he did the same thing to a picture of Mohammad. Granted, there are no pictures allowed of him, but imagine the backlash that would happen if it were to occur.
I personally feel people should just settle the fuck down.

I just don't buy these bogus scenarios. The episode wasn't even a putdown of Christianity but some sarcasm on these morons who see Jesus' face on a grilled cheese sandwich. I don't believe that David's head would be found lying in the street if he had indeed peed on picture of Mohammad. If anything, it only "proves" that Christians are actually not so close-minded because instead of cutting off the heads of those that offend them they just write spelling-and-grammar-challenged comments on a website.
Again, let's also point out that in every episode Larry David suffers repercussions for his actions.

I read somewhere that Dobbs might go to the FOX business channel to help with ratings there. I don't think FOX News has any good time slots available for him.

CBS didn't forge anything, but when have you ever let reality stop you before? They completely shit the bed when it came to actually verifying what they discovered, but they didn't forge anything.

Until they conceded their mistakes on-air and people took responsibility for the research and reporting failures to the point that Rather himself resigned. To equate that with Fox, a news network that routinely just glosses over or flat out ignores the mistakes, gaffes, spin and lies presented by the talking heads they employ, is simply not being reasonable. I can only assume this is going to be yet another instance where you declare something that is shown to be incorrect and then it spirals into you saying you were actually saying anything but what you clearly posted in the first place.
Again, CBS fucked up huge and TV news is crap, but Fox manages to somehow be even crappier than crap.
