Why's that Nancy?

I'm pissed that the Yanks MIGHT snatch the division, 10 in a row...

but our World Series dreams are still in sight.

I'll go one better than that. I still think Itll be a Mets-Red Sox Reunion.

It's great to be back!

Sonnanstine has won his last 4 decisions, but we've battered him. It will be interesting to see if Daisuke can turn it around. If not, it could be one of those 12-10 type games.

Holy shit, Julio Lugo!

Or we can pretend John Sterling is calling the game. "Leapin' Lugo Launces a Laser!" Ick. Or "A L-Bomb from the Lugoino."

Also, JD Drew is so bad as a Red Sox that he's now injuring our own players.

Well, its really no surprise that we've officially made it to the play offs, although its still a little tight in winning the division title.

But hey... we're the first team to secure our spot in the post season!!

I really do love this team, especially this year.
What a come back tonight... foreshadowing things to come.:clap::clap:

Pitching well and coming back against the Drays and their pen, is like scoring on the Giant D..... VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY EASY!!! I wouldn't start saying your back yet...

Oh btw... Take care of the Angels for us, so you can earn the chance of getting whooped by us in the ALCS!

I was just celebrating being the first to clinch a post season spot.

I already posted this in the Yankee thread, but I wanted to see what you guys think of this.

Cleveland's up 9-2. Angels lost already today. So its pretty certain the Yanks will play Cleveland in the ALDS, they're 4 ahead with 5 to play. It would take a miracle for LAA to pass CLE.

Cleveland it is. Boston gets LAA. Bosox are 6-3 this season vs the Angels, and I think the Yanks swept CLE in the games they played this season. So you have to like their chances.

My only question is Boston out of gas. Manny, Ortiz, Dice-K, Okijima. All have been injured or running on fumes lately. Plus, I wonder how Paps shoulder is holding up. If they're healthy, they should win. They seem to usually match up well against LAA.

Fallon
09-26-2007, 08:29 PM
Actually the Sox are starting to hit good now. Manny got his break and has hit well in the two games, Ortiz has been batting .321 all season, his homers are down, but he has 50 doubles. Way higher than past seasons. I'm worried about the Japanese guys, but the playoffs are a different game. Might step it up.

ChrisTheCop
09-26-2007, 09:23 PM
BDC, I realize that you cant watch the Bosox games (even I have to try hard to do so), but had you been able to, youd know the Sox are far from out of steam. Were we close? Yes. But, Manny's back, and Youk will be back full time very soon, and Our bullpen is above average

As for the Yanks being in the post season, I say Congrats and good luck.
It wouldnt be fall without a Red Sox-Yankees series.

Speaking of series... Lets Go Mets!!! Time for a 21 year reunion.

ChrisTheCop
09-27-2007, 12:02 AM
Tonight, Coco might be back to complete the roster.

Okajima is also back if needed!

How about Julian Tavares closing last night?
Ive said it b4, but I love watching that guy.

What a weekend! We clinched the division on Friday, and got postseason homefield advantage on Saturday!!

Also, We chose schedule "B"
meaning they will open their Division Series against the Angels on Wednesday, have an off-day on Thursday and play Game 2 on Friday, meaning Beckett (game 1) and Schilling (game 2) will also be able to pitch games 4 and 5, if necessary, with regular rest. (Dice K will have game 3).

Then the Indians, and then (hopefully) the Mets!

A.J.
09-30-2007, 09:41 AM
And with home field locked up, Schill gets a rest today.

TBS and TNT are broadcasting the ALDS?

From today's Boston Globe:

Though the team isn't announcing its rotation for the postseason yet, it appears it will be Josh Beckett, Schilling, and Daisuke Matsuzaka, in that order. Last night, however, Ch. 4's Dan Roche reported the order would be Beckett, Matsuzaka, and Schilling. . . .

Postseason rosters must be set by 10 a.m. Wednesday for the Red Sox . . .

A.J.
10-02-2007, 04:02 AM
It's Beckett, Dice-K and Schilling (http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071001&content_id=2243674&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos).

Every National league team ive pulled for has been defeated.
Mets, then Pads last night in that crushing extra innings game to decide all games.

So...now...I dunno. Cubs?

So... Angels > Indians > Cubs.

I wouldnt mind so much losing to the Cubs if it came to that.

I agree. A Red Sox fan could appreciate what winning the series would mean to the Cubs.

And I would MAYBE say The Tribe too but they already blew the chance we gave them in 1995.

ChrisTheCop

and replaced by Lester. Not too shabby.

I'm also a little upset that Julian Tavares, with the turnaround he did this year, isnt on the roster. But its a pretty strong 10 man list.

Theres always the ALCS for both of them.

I changed my tour so I'd be home in time for the festivities today, and I'm off friday and saturday. I gotta be up at 6 am, but I feel like its Christmas eve.

Its not self-importance. I want to see the best match ups. I want the Red Sox to win cause I want the Yankees and them to go head to head. Those are the best games in my opinion, win or lose I'm glued to every pitch. Mets vs. Cubs and Yankees Vs. Red Sox would have been the best divison series. Now we have Rockies Vs. Arizona and most likely Red Sox Vs. Clevland, not the greatest.
Yesterday a White Sox fan said to me "Clevland winning shows that the Central had the best divison in baseball." It kinda made me want Boston to beat them if the Yankees can't.

I want the AL East to be the best division. Having the White Sox win the World Series, then Detroit the AL and now possibly Clevland the AL makes the Central look the strongest. Most times I'm the opposite. I feel like if my team loses let it be to the best. That way I can kinda feel like we were 2nd best. If we lose to a team that loses easily then we really sucked.

Meh..I will get killed for this..but Tek has turned into a black hole in the lineup offensively. I know he is great behind the plate and handles the pitching staff but I think your not losing much with Mirabelli catching.

Is Dougie even healthy enough to play ?

He was healthy enough to be on the ALDS roster, so I assume he was healthy enough to play.

I know Varitek isn't the hitter he once was, but Mirabelli's hitting skills make Varitek look Ruthian by comparison. I just don't think it's worth it to have Wakefield pitch an extra game instead of Matsuzaka. Both are unpredictable, but I like Matsuzaka's chances with extra rest.

Sabathia vs. Beckett x 2
Carmona vs. Matsuzaka x 2
Schilling vs. Westbrook x 2
Wakefield vs. Byrd (they might break the radar gun)

i would rather have wakefield pitch to tek

Why not just bring Mirabelli in? Its not like he could hit any worse than our version of Derek Jeter is hitting.

Gagne was the worst pick up this year. No doubt in my mind.

(this mainly stems from me being a Giants fan and hating him for being a Dodger)

I'm just picturing him running to first yelling, "YOU PICKED JD DREW OVER ME?!" and it makes me feel better about him getting the hit.

BOSTON — It didn't matter to Eric Gagne that he couldn't earn a save in his Boston Red Sox debut.

Coming in from the bullpen to a standing ovation from the sold-out crowd at Fenway Park, Gagne overpowered his first two batters Thursday in Boston's 7-4 victory over Baltimore.

It was the first appearance for the former Rangers closer since he agreed to a trade that relegated him to a setup role with the Red Sox.

"It was awesome," Gagne said. "I was a little nervous. But the adrenaline kicked in and the fans really got me going."

I think it might have more to do with him clearly having arm troubles and not having recovered from his surgery, yet Francona keeps putting him out there.

And what caused a man who pitches 1 inning every other night to get injured? Pssst...Roids.

This is the story I'm getting from my sports agent friend. I hate gagne so I'll buy it.

I think at least 90% of the players who have played professional baseball in the last 15 years have been on steroids at one point or another, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Francona is the perfect example of a major league manager. None of them ever do anything particularly good to help their teams. The only thing they can do is hurt their team. The good managers just do the least to hurt their team.

I blame Gagne for all of this.

I blame Francona. Okay, Gagne SUCKS for the Sox in the regular season, give him a shot to redeem himself in the postseason....

Lets see, game three of the ALDS he comes in with a big league and struggles, game one of the ALCS he comes in with a big lead and struggles and his arm is noticeably tired, so game two you put him in a tie game with other options in the pen? Francona is a fucking retard.

Everyone that pitches around Gagne sucks, his shit stench rubbed off on Okajima when he arrived in Boston. They have to bench him the rest of the ALCS!!! :furious::furious::furious:

Thats what i was thinking! He could relax knowing that if he gave up 3 4 runs in the 1st, his lineup has ample time to come back.. Where as in the 7th or 8th, Game Over.

I understand why Tito sticks with Fagne -- he did the same thing with Pedroia, Coco and Lugo when they had a horrible start this season. They turned around afterwards -- well, Lugo can't hit worth a damn but his glove is good. I respect his confidence in his players

However, sticking with Fagne is pointless because he sucks. I hated that trade from Day One because everyone knew he was washed up. And now there's too much at stake for Tito to put him out there in the hopes that he gets his shit together. If he wants to help this team, say you're injured, sit out, and make room for Kyle Snyder.

I said it before and I'll say it again: miss Brendan Donnelly.
