BRRRR!!!!
It got down to 12 last night. No biggie. I've got heat, right? WRONG! At least not in the lower level of the house. We have a gas furnace with baseboard heat. The pump that runs the water through the baseboard is shot. It will heat the upper floors but not mine. We can't fix it until the next warm day, because we'll have to turn off the heat to the whole house and bleed the lines to replace the pump.
To make matters worse, I have this annoyingly loud space heater that was getting me by. Turns out it uses 12.5 amps of the 15 amp fuse, and the microwave is on the same fuse. My son was just cooking some popcorn and the fuse blew.:wallbash:

Just a word of caution to anyone driving in the NYC metro area - the roads are treacherous.
I'm currently sitting in a dead stop on a highway, most likely due to an overturned tractor trailer. I passed 4 accidents along the way as well. It's raining, but the roads are still covered in ice. The surfaces are so slick that it's almost impossible to get any traction.
Take it SLOW, and don't be one of the idiots who think to themselves "it's only drizzling...no reason I can't drive 75 MPH."

Plugging in won't stop from gelling.
And additive will prolong it a little.
In the northern part of the state most of the semis are on the side of the roads. -35 to -40 will do that.

I ran out to the grocery store this morning for various and sundry items (love saying that)... and the door was locked. And this old guy rode his bike down to get groceries and it's 6:08 and the door's locked and someone's about 10 feet away and must have seen this guy. He's complaining the door's locked so I banged on it.
They paper guy's like "yeah?" like it's weird that I'm trying to get his attention.
"you open at 6 right?"
"yeah"
"what time is it?"
looks at clock "I guess you can come in.." and opens the doors to let us in.
then makes a show of asking the sole cashier if she's ready yet... like we're barging in on the whole show but he's going to be a good guy.
Meanwhile... it's cold. It's really cold ... it's fucking freezing out. The bank clock said 4. 4 fucking degrees FARENHEIT - this is not Celsius my friend.
It's 4 fucking degrees out and this guy's splitting hairs as to whether or not to let two friggin people in.

I think Obama passed legislation that it is illegal for DC to drop below 40 degrees.

You may want to have it averaged out year round.
It's 1 degree outside right now. This obviously means there is only one degree between myself and nothing.
If I don't survive the day, I will out my stuff to Gvac...just to re-clutter his life.
You bastard!
I'll just have a bonfire party!

Well I made it through the day. But I must admit that there was a provision that you must not only accept the my stuff....but much openly display it!

My electric bill has been around $70-90 since I moved into my apartment in the spring. Decembers was a bit over $300.
Motherfucker.
Winter looks to be over. It's short-sleeve shirt weather again!

Tuesdau night in the middle of posting on this thread about the ice storm we were having and how I just knew that power was going out because of people and their fricking trees... the power went out and has been out for well since Tuesday when my post went unposted. We finally got into a hotel last night and it could be weeks. The fucked up thing is that they used to cut back the trees that were in the powerlines until people got angry cause it made the trees look not pretty. The only good thing is that now their fucking trees are gone bad thing they are in my backyard I have no trees of my own back there since we went of a rampage with a chainsaw. I found that 47 degrees is the lowest you can take in a house without electricity and that the cost of hotel rooms and generators double during this shit. I am so fucking buying the mac daddy of all generators. Sorry about the rant...it sucks to be displaced and cold and to pay $100 a night for a hotel room that is less than 5 miles from your home. The kids are happy though...indoor heated pool and all the kids they go to school with are here. Cold weather sucks ass and living in the midwest in the winter sucks ass.

It's going to be 25° in Tampa again tonight. I had to blanket my tomato, mustard greens and broccoli plants tonight.

I left Buffalo to be met with the same damn cold weather in manhattan.
Currently 16 degrees, going down to 11 tonight.
Tomorrow's high temp is expected to be 26.
I hear if you stay outside longer than 3 minutes your blood will freeze and you will die instantly.
Its 5 degrees outside! They tell me the worst is over, but I can't trust these weather dorks as far as I can throw them.

High of 70 here tomorrow. I'm thinking about going into work shirtless.

That's not the kind of attitude that is gonna facilitate this family trade.
