With Ralph Houk being the 3rd Yankee death, the Yankees' uniforms tonight will include a patch for Bob, a patch for George, and a black armband for Ralph. That's gotta be a first.

I thInk they fucked him around so much that it lead towards the arm issue he had, causing him to lose 7-9 mph on his volocity.
That and the lack of confidence.

The Yankees were terrible when he got banned and had not won in 15years.
Hell, him getting booted was the best thing to ever happen to the Yankees.
It allowed Stick and Buck to keep the young guys and sign role players to go around them..
If George was there, Bernie, Jeter, Andy, Mo and others would all have been traded for bums.

Perhaps you should have signed 3 new starting pitchers, an all-star infielder and top offensive/defensive free agent and then revamped your entire bench at the deadline at the price to run some full teams in baseball to take the title. Oh wait, that was last year! My bad!

So which is it kevin? Please choose? How about you stop blaming one guy for a whole team with the best record in baseball one on either end of the spectrum. That's the fucking point, as just like normal yankee fans, it has to be someone's fault the amazing yankees didn't come through in spades as they always should. Also, I truly believe everyone is all of a sudden coming down hard on Jeter mainly based on expectations. I disagree. I think Tex is most def an above average first baseman, one of the top guys at his position. But I don't see him make plays on throws that other first baseman don't make. I do see him make defensive plays on balls hit off the bat that others don't make, and that's what I think makes him so special, not his ability to scoop throws from infielders or reach higher than others on the bag.

Well you have Clemens and Pettitte, two of the top pitchers in the league at the time, using steroids as well.
To think only the best hitters and best pitchers were using is just narrow minded. Couple that with the fact that the only players really getting busted once the testing started were minor leaguers and career journeymen makes it even more asinine to believe the majority of players weren't using an advantage that perhaps they believed everyone else had.

I doubt the percentage is as high or even close to as high as Canseco stated. His goal there was to blow the lid off it all bc he was in the spotlight and knew a LOT of guys (of his ilk and moral values) that were getting away with it. He's truthful in a jealous spiteful way to say the least. So I truly believe this is one area he pumped up the numbers to in essence clear his own name and actions bc "everyone was doing it". The people Jose would hang with truly would be involved, but there are so many players that didn't live on the homerun and power game, let alone cheat to get middle of the road stats especially in that era.

Well you have Clemens and Pettitte, two of the top pitchers in the league at the time, using steroids as well.
To think only the best hitters and best pitchers were using is just narrow minded. Couple that with the fact that the only players really getting busted once the testing started were minor leaguers and career journeymen makes it even more asinine to believe the majority of players weren't using an advantage that perhaps they believed everyone else had.
who said anything about "only the best hitters and best pitcher were using"?! Are you just making shit up to post now? The other side of it are those players willing to do anything to get into the game or hold on to their low level spot in the bigs. Also, Clemens fits my power profile as well, just as the blown out closers like Gagne and others who lived on velocity/power pitching game.

The thing that botherd me the most about last night was that Valverde clearly had no control whatsoever and Jeter goes and swings at ball three high and outside and continued to swing at junk.

Sure a bad trade, but I would hardly fire Jack Zduriencik. He was the first non-GM to ever win MLB Executive of the Year in history.

Ah poor Kevin, did he flip the bat (and he didn't flip shit THAT TIME by the way)?! Waaaaaa! Your boy Cervelli acted like he won the world series when he tagged Lewis at the plate and tossing your bat when you hit a hr is bad?! Fuck off. You and your team's 210 million dollar payroll lost another one to the 60 million dollar Jays!
Just look at this team minus Tex, Cano, Swish with Arod on the mend and that'd be the team you'd field if you weren't able to bypass the draft and spend spend spend. OH WAIT, EVEN NUNEZ, CERVELLI, NOVA AND PENA ARE INTERNATIONAL FREE AGENTS. Yah, they build from within my fucking ass. Here's to hoping you revamp ur entire bench for the third time since last year's trade/waiver deadline. No respect.
And if by not backing down do you mean getting hit hard every fucking time Batista was up? Bc even the out was hit hard and deep to center. Robertson brought it too. I hope your pitchers keep doing it that way. Oh and was he overreacting or should he expect it? Bc I'm pretty sure if some punk kid threw over my fucking head after a hr trying to look tough and stay with a team, I'd be pretty fucking pissed too.
Finally, the Jays paid off the ump huh?! WTF were you watching? His strike zone is what made Nova not look as bad as he was and Gardner saved his fucking ass in the first. I guess the Jays included extra meals and cash to throw out our starting shortstop and manager early in the game bc he decided to follow him out to the field as if the fucking game was about him. That was complete bs, but I won't claim he's paid off when the yankees manage to win a game don't you worry you little albanian bitch.

The jays have 3 of 4 starters on the year that have better eras (Cecil, Romero & Marcum...all draft picks, even though Hughes is a rare one for NYY) and morrow is gaining quick as he and Walton iron out his old issues. They did the same shit with Halladay, taking a lot off his fastball to get more movement/taking out the flat approach and working on his change. If only Morrow could add a cutter, that would be insane. The kid has battled hard this year and didn't start well at all. He continues to develop and I'm really looking forward to a Romero, Marcum, Cecil, Morrow, Drabek (Mills/Zip/Stewart and more as possible 5th if Drabek is held up longer which is possible).

First off, that's exactly what I said, so it's not exaggerating. Second, they were NEVER all called potential aces by anyone not wearing pinstripe glasses. Kennedy was a 3 at BEST, more like a 4/5 and both Huges and Joba were listed at 2's, 1B starter for Hughes. Joba's mental makeup keep him out of that 2 spot easy for anyone who ever listened to him talk or met his family. What you cooking MAAAA!?

Nice trip by Wells to take the lead. I think Cecil really looks like he picks up his game against better teams which is a good sign. Still, he's real young and can loose concentration at times.
Wells scores on a past ball. Nice work Posada. Mixed up or not, Jorge should have caught that.

Singleton with yet another GREAT point..."Batista could never be an MVP candidate bc he only get rbis via the homerun. HA! First off, it's not true. Secondly, he's leading the league in outfield assists (or at least was bc Choo may be slightly ahead since they aren't running on Jose much now) and is pretty quick out there. He's no Gold Glover bc he doesn't read the ball all too well and takes some odd routes to balls at times, but he's above average. Not to mention has played a very good third base as well as all outfield spots and a touch at first base. He also DH's when needed as well.
He brings hustle every day and is very patient as well with a ton of BB's for a power hitter. In fact, he comes into today tied for second in BB's with Miguel Cabrera at 76. Batista only has 2 intentional versus 25 for Cabrera.
In no way am I saying he's a top MVP candidate, but Singleton is an ass again.
