Swing harder with two strikes EE! WTF are you thinking?!

I'm ok going at ur pitch until you have 2 strikes on you, after that not shortening your swing and making contact is just pure stupid unless the situation dictates something different (not often). I just don't get Cito and this team's approach being so one sided.

Here we go again with Lewis I'm sure.

The above and his use of Tallet, Zip and never playing situational baseball...

Cecil is becoming a money pitcher against good teams. He's our fucking #4 right now too. Just imagine this rotation with Roy?! It's not like anyone in the Roy deal has been a part of the show just yet either. Looking forward to seeing Drabek in 2011/2012, but Goose (from Wallace) and Araund are a few more years out and JP Arencibia is in the way.

Here we are at callup time and yet u still see Tallet (nice work yesterday :wallbash:), Frasor (nice work today :wallbash:), Zip (nice work today :wallbash:) and so many more people with no future in Toronto. Isn't this the time to work out Mills, Drabek, Daly, Roenicke and so many more? Also we see old man (not good enough to make any other team) McCoy get TONS of starting time over 30 with the Jays as a callup as future guys like Emaus sit in the minors hitting very well with ZERO mlb experience (much needed). Arencibia is up yet again and has sat the bench mostly just like last time. Oh I'm sorry, he DHd once in September!

It's September and time to get some experience for young guys assholes. I could give a fuck if they catch Boston or finish +/- 8 games from .500. It doesn't mean shit in the end.

Ohhhhh, so now it's not steroids. I see how yankee fans work.

Of course I'm right. I saw it just as he started to hit some hrs swinging like a madman at inside pitches. It's not a bad tech to use for usual shitty hitters. It's working for MacDonald too. Kills usually patient guys like Lind and Hill though. They need to use a much different approach and be selective.

But seeing Bautista's approach and the fact that he is playing alot for the first time in his career.

I agree Felix has had a much better season. Wins cant be everything because there is no control by the pitcher if he gets no run support. Felix has 50 more K's, 3 more complete game, almost 1 full run better era, a better whip, 1 more shut out. He beats CC in every single category except wins. How could CC win this over him. Lester actually have similar or better #'s then CC with 4 less starts and he shouldn't win neither should CC.

If Felix doesnt get it, then they are making a mockery of the award. Its meant for the best pitcher not the most wins award.

........ Just saying.........

Missed one huh?!

And H, your post is just stupid as always. The issue is Felix should be in the draft, not go to the highest bid at an extremely young age (not sure if this was the case here but it often is). It's not good for the player's education, but a windfall for their families and of course they'll rightfully take the money and run. They all need to go in the draft also bc it isn't fair to the US/Canadian/PR kids who do. It's also not fair to the lesser teams that would have taken the talented kids coming from Venz/DR and other places.

Nobody ever said the yankees get ALL the int free agents douchecunt, they just get the ones they want. Basically they bypass one of the main meanings behind a draft, ultimately rendering it's impact on the league in reverse order of the standings meaningless...hence the same teams maintaining power year in and year out. Being that it's additive impact on the money factor tied to regular free agents and there you have the yankees "dynasty"/monopoly.

In the end, this only makes my argument stronger, especially seeing as to how Toronto is now trying to step up the int recruiting, which is code for signing 16 year old kids on the sugar cane plantations or at Venz oil platforms in an attempt to beat money teams to the punch. If you don't see the issue with both sides of this coin I'll have to simply walk away from ur handicapped parking spot.

If you are a guy that has pitched a while with non contending teams.

You should want to go to Contender to win a title.

AJ was not braught here just a little peice.. He was braught here as the #2 starter.

I couldn't agree more. Everything about new monument park sucks, but this takes the cake.

I think the main reason Mo was staring at it for so long is because he was incredulous at how much it sucked.

First, the bas relief sculpture of Steinbrenner, at that size, is RIDICULOUSLY creepy.

As much as George has done for the Yankees, are you telling me that he gets a a monument that is twice the size of Ruth's, Gherig's, or the damn 9/11 monument?!

But im SURE you will...

Quite simply ur wrong. AJ opted out of a pretty big contract to get even more money and another shot at a title (already has one where he did even less) so he literally latched on to a team who offered the most money. His acceptance of the yank deal over the braves (bravea to you) simply shows he intent. Roy on the other hand pretty much stayed on at lower pay for a LONG time trying to win in Toronto, and even did just that to go/play in Philly while Lee basically said he will only accept CC money or better. Don't give me they are the same, money isn't/wasn't a factor. Did he want to go to a team in the hunt? Sure, but he was quite content to play out the final year of his contract and never cried like AJ.

Also, 99% of the Jays fans wanted him to get his shot, especially if it wasn't with the yankees and even sox. Being that it's Philly worked out pretty good to me. They traded pieces for pieces, and Drabek/Wallace(traded for outfield prospect to hopefully replace Wells in a few)/Aurand versus yet ANOTHER free agent pick up for the yanks from their divisional opponent. Yes Kev, same fucking thing all around yankee goggles.

There is no fucking reason it should be that big. None.

It perfectly sums up the ego of the man and what the yankees are really about pretty well in my mind.

I def do agree money was part of it.

But you are telling me the Jays and JP did not know he was opting out?

You could have gotten something real good for him with the year he was having.

My only point was he could have gone to ATL with no pressure with almost the same money but came here. Winning played a part.

If the Yanks dont make the WS, and Doc is there, I'm rooting for Philly.

Doc deserves a Ring.

Hell even if we lost to Philly this year i would still be happy for him and less pissed.

Players should always chase that title.

Esp when they get in their 30s, and esp SP..

And that Monument is a fucking embaressmant.

You know what? I wouldn't have minded a statue of George outside the stadium. Not a fifty foot tall one, but a nice tribute to the man would have been ok.

That... monstrosity... it just a tribute to the family's ego. and what the fuck is it with the Steinbrenner women and awful blonde helmet hair? Each of them has it, even the granddaughers!

he really does have an ugly family. The only attractive person to look at is one of his sons wives. I think her name is Christine? She is beautiful but thats because she doesnt have the Steinbrenner mutant blood running through her!

Yes Jeter the man you rip constantly as the big problem in NY bc he isn't doing everything he used to. The same guy I defended, along with calling Mo the best at his position ever. Or possibly those times I pulled you off the ledge with Torre 50 times bc he wasn't the issue behind the dumb pickups and actually was the perfect man for the job all those years. Sure others could have won with those teams, but not deal with the likes of Cashman, George and so many egos as he had. You're right, I always just say they suck and am blinded by hate. Now go hate another player/coach on NYY until they win another title and love them as if it never was different. "Go Granderson, ur hitting again and I always loved you!"

spoon

You act as though (this new idiotic and loud Kev) calling Hank out is a tough call!? My pt is you only bash the CLEAR IN YOUR FACE idiocy of ur organization and when players aren't lighting it up as in the past, not the ins and outs of how it operates and especially how it truly wins. To do that would lay waste to their false claims of greatest with anything, especially in the case of George's accomplishments or the team's. Sorry, I respect titles and teams that deserve it, and AJ's "contribution" and the way he came about his simply magnifies my reasoning about what is wrong with the league. It's usually May in WFAN land when Yank fans start talking about the top 4-6 free agents they NEED to get for the stretch run and we've already heard plenty about Crawford & Lee (perhaps he's not playing well enough for you now) coming to NY. Being that Werth is seemingly going with Boras as his agent, I'm sure he'll be looking to the big market/money teams soon too. It's already been floated around. Yah, can't wait to see the next 100 million dollar face lift!

That park was an embarrassment to begin with. It's like it was an afterthought when they built the park. "Oops! We forgot about Monument Park. Let's just cram it in here...".

It's atrocious. It's bigger than the 9/11, Pope and any other Yankee's plaque combined. I hope it gets ridiculed through the rest of the season and the family finally caves and puts a more modest one there. At least you can make it fun hating on guys like Morgan and the Fox crew. These guys are just shit.

On a positive note that pitch tracker is the greatest late 1980's overlay I've ever seen on my rabbit-ear television.

i get their point that one call at a crucial point was blown, which hurt the twins, but the chart over-all doesn't help their cause. granted, they can say the calls in their favor were at less important times, perhaps.

I think it really is an article about terrible umping and strike zones to be honest. They are saying Gardenhire was right that he was off, but all night and for both teams/pitchers. The article is also really taking it to the umpire Hunter Wendelstedt, his awful strike zone and mlb making a terrible selection not only for the playoffs, but this series due to having a past history with Gardenhire.

No it was an awful strike zone and yes good pitchers adjust to what the ump is giving or taking away, baseball's unwritten rule of pitching, I get that. However, that doesn't mean his strike zone wasn't or a bad strike zone isn't what it is. The rules are pretty fucking easy and some variability is expected. Yet when compared to his contemporaries his zone was dirt and usually is. There is no getting over it, the yankees got hurt more on a % level than the Twins as someone pointed out, it's more a statement of why is this guy in the playoffs or in the MLB is he's this fucking bad to begin with.

Your take is simply this, it worked out for my team, all is well. Just like your take on the way MLB is run. Take the blinders off H, just once. This guy is fucking awful, like a lot of umps these days.

HBox

It was a lousy strike zone all night. It was inconsistent. Even in that at bat. That non-strike 3 wouldn't have even been a non-strike 3 if the calls were correct all at bat. The first strike on Berkman in that at bat was well outside. There was no rhyme or reason to the bad calls all night.

This comment sounds as bad as Young claiming the call was great after benefiting from it or when Mike Shanahan and Jay Cutler claimed steroid ref made a good call with the whistle against SD to hand them a bullshit win.

We won, who cares? Nothing to see here, please move on. I'm just waiting for the series it hurts the yanks and H goes fucking batshit crazy. If they ever get truly fucked by a call in a big moment. The most important thing about this series is beating the Rangers. For the past 2 years, George W. Bush has sat there in his living room watching every Ranger game while Laura brings him ice tea and a tuna fish sandwich (and not the good kind- instead its dry with a little mayo on untoasted white bread.) His administration's domestic and foreign policy left this country much worse off, and now he just sits there doing nothing but watching baseball games. He gets joy from his baseball team; it is the only level of intellectual depth that putz has. He's been handed everything in life (including past part ownership of the Rangers), and now he's in a position to give back (like we'd hope our past presidents to do.) But for him, its relax and watch his Rangers.

if the 2003 alcs showed anything with pedro. you take him out no matter how great he pitched. its the playoffs no need to reward a guy and let him try to get a complete game. reward the team by winning. as for the bullpen i think they arent that bad but bringing them in that situation might have made them shit their pants. if you bring 1 of them in to start the 8th they should be more relaxed knowing they have the advantage. but how this inning went down you could just see it all come out of this team.

yah, i don't agree with any of this

They weren't "rewarding" the starter here and the pedro game of the past has no bearing at all. I'm not saying it was the right move to bring back Wilson, but there are CLEARLY reasons he was and we're seeing it right now. Wilson had only given up a solo shot and had little trouble while still being under 100 pitches coming into the 8th. Not so sure why you think that was such a TERRIBLE move. In hindsight, you NAILED IT! Good job camps. I'm sorry, Gardner should have been out too by the way.

Also, this series is FAR from over. Hell this GAME isn't over. When you can run Lee out there at least twice in the series, Wilson again and Hunter/Lewis matching up quite fine versus Hughes and AJ. Talk about overreacting.

garner was safe, pitcher and 1b were too slow finishing the play. The problem is you cant match up with the yanks. even if the yanks pitching is suspect this season. their offense is insane. when you have granderson 8th, posada 7th there is something wrong here. players like swisher arent expected to be the best player on the team but on other teams he would have to be of the best players. but being in other line ups its harder. but when you put a swisher in the yankee line up he does well because pressure is off him and he has so much talent around him which makes him look better and its easier to succeed.

Texas might have Lee, but they needed tonight. They lose home field now, they lose a win they had and needed.Sabathia, Hughes and Petite are better then every pitcher the Rangers have other then Lee. Then you add Mariano and this is over!

For a team to beat the yanks it has to be a magical year and everything must go their way when they play against the yanks. The problem is you cant keep the yanks down and lets be honest there is no team that gets more breaks then the yanks. the ball always bounces their way.

Snacks

BTW everyone is saying Lee should win 2 games. Lets see but he isnt starting game 1 he will now be starting in a pressure situation. They will be either down 2-0 or tied 1-1/ If they are down 2-0 going into NY dont be surprised if Lee gets rocked. He has been a beast the last couple of years and he was great early on in his career. But he also had a 3 or 4 year stretch where he was almost out of baseball because he was so bad. Clev was going to cut him the year he had his comeback year and won the cy.

The funny and of course bad news for baseball is Lee will be a yankee next year.
