He probably has by now, and is just trying to find a way to scan an image of his cellphone screen so he can show us.
That seems like alot of work.
Let's just say that I heard some things and sent them on.......... (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1827657&postcount=165)

It's completely within the realm of possibility that the outgoing governor will appoint herself to that seat, while she's still in office.
Sounds like you guys have been noticing how NJ politicians do things. Welcome to the big show, Delaware.
I guess this means he'll tap Richardson for Secretary of State if he wins.
The rumor all along, was that if he went with one of Biden or Richardson for VP, the other would be a strong candidate for SoS.
And in a perfect world, the race for the nomination should not have been Obama/Clinton, but would have been Biden vs. Richardson. I'm just glad both of them should be on the team.

QFT!

Yeah, I heard about that, too...and he's the Attorney General of Delaware...and the rumor was that Biden was pushing hard for his son to get appointed to his seat if he decided to run, but that's nearly impossible, because he's definitely going to Iraq.
Should be interesting; Biden has said a lot of very damaging stuff about Obama, and he has praised McCain to the point even of saying he would be proud to be on a ticket with McCain as recently as 2006.
On another note. The bs kids game meant nothing in the end except that the youngsters will feel ripped for a buck, (see above), and the damage to older Dems who felt slapped by Obamas plan to tell the youngsters first will still be there.
A boneheaded couple days here - let's hope he gets it all out before the Convention starts Monday. He still has to figure out to explain not vetting Hillary to her delegates representing 18 million votes after saying she would be on anybobys short list of Dem VP picks. This convention could get ugly still. They are going to try and keep it civil and upbeat; but I don't really foresee that at this point.
Boneheaded?
Obama milked the media for a week and collected the texting ability of millions. If you think that is a negative that you don't understand the kind of campaign that Senator Obama is running.
And you can stop with the Hillary outrage. It's not going to play.

Which gives him the "Jim Webb credibility" of having a kid who is serving.

You are correct. There were probably less than 10 people in the nation that knew the information.....however when Biden went to Georgia, it should have been the giveaway for all of us.
And you can stop with the Hillary outrage. It's not going to play.
There will be a small stubborn hold out sect, but another reason Biden works, is because he and Hillary are VERY close ideologically.
Biden's an easy sell to that Hillary base that feels jilted.

McCain's son is there already, either in Iraq or Afghanistan. I've never liked the mantra of "send their kids there, and this war will end tomorrow" There are a lot of members of Congress who have kids in harm's way, and whether we like the war or not, it's not fair to accuse them of sending "other parent's children" off to fight "their war"

I heard Hannity trying to make this his point of attack earlier on.
It's not a criticism that will hold up...Biden will say about McCain, what everyone who ran against him and claimed they liked him (Hillary, Dodd, Richardson) has said:
He moved so far to the right, and became so hawkish to win the Republican nomination, that he's not the guy he once was, even two years ago.
Hannity tried this same tactic AGAINST McCain (you know...when he hated him and swore he'd never vote for him...) in the primary earlier this year by accusing him of considering running with Kerry in '04.
It gained no traction then...it won't gain traction here. Nobody cares about that stuff.
People will care more about that bizarre Dunkin' Donuts speech Biden gave.
Did you watch CNN 360AC tonight?
They showed Obamas half-Brother in Kenya living on a dollar a week, and it wasn't pretty at all. When asked why he thought Obama never tried to contact him he said 'when people first meet they don't have anything to talk about'. The man speaks great English; maybe everyone there speaks it; I don't know.
That could really turn into a story; especially since Sean Hannity last night said he will send a thousand bucks to him if someone gets him the address. Tin shack in Narobi vs. Hyde Park, and a Harvard education. Life just isn't fair sometimes.
I do think the commercials contrasting what Hillary, and Biden said about him to what Romney, (if he's that pick), could be pretty damaging stuff. And also Bidens been on the opposite side of Obama on Iraq, and it was McCains suggestion that a troop surge was needed to win. We all know how that is working out. Put Hillary in an ad saying he isn't ready, echo that with a Biden 'he's not worthy' clip, and follow that up with Hillary and Biden praising McCain. It's already there on tape - their own words.
Man I sure hope my gut feelings are wrong, and all I need is some Alka-Selzter.

I think your guts are wrong. The story has been out for over a week now. Hannity ginned this up the week before the DNC to try to make it more then what it is.

Plus he said Obama was too inexperienced to be president and got slammed calling him "articulate," so they'll love him because he had no problem taking potshots at the guy now asking him on the ticket who they all hate.
This move does nothing to stir my confidence in the Democrats, and actually just lessens it even more. Arguably the most winnable election in US history and there's a huge chance that they fuck it up. Inexcusable. If Obama doesn't shore up a decent lead again when the debates start, they're screwed. That's basically his last hope short of McCain doing something completely insane. Counting on him just to be dumb isn't going to be enough...it hasn't worked thus far, and it sure as fuck didn't work in 2000 and 2004.
A bastion of mediocrity, Michael Moore, has an excellent piece in the new issue of the also mediocre at best Rolling Stone where he lays out all the ways the Democrats can fuck up losing this silver platter election, and it's terrifying how may they're seemingly on the verge of doing or are likely to do.

Yeah except that Obamas Brother never lived with him, and Obama has been making good coin between him and his wife for years with zero attempt to help his own family.
Remember he said he chose Chicago so he do outreach work and community organizing for Blacks. Like Hannity said, "Charity begins at home", and it is just rotten that he couldn't slip a hundred bucks in an envelope perodically to make a world of difference for his own blood.
If you see the interview, and the one hundred subsequent ones I half expect to occur now - it is really kind of sickening to think about. Remember also he wrote that book about his Father? Well the interviewer gave him a copy of it, and the guy just said 'now I can learn about my Father'. Fucking sad.

Everyone who ran against Obama called him inexperienced, just like everyone who ran against McCain called him a liberal in dsiguise.
This move makes every bit of strategic sense to me. Your argument against Biden seems to come down to nothing more than a couple of soundbytes.
Biden gives Obama credibility on issues he NEEDS credibility on.
The only pick, from a strategic standpoint, that would have been better would have been Hillary.

(http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/) You're gonna see a lot of crazy fluctuating polling into next week, ad that site is almost always dead on in wading through the numbers and tracking the most accurate shifts. Keep an eye on it to see how this move effects the race over the weekend.

Oh excuse. True but no one expected a pick until Thursday imho. I saw the big to do about it all become the Ichiban over the same two days he played house numbers ads.
I know Obama is reaching out to younger voters; but I've seen this movie too many times before - YOUNG people do not vote in great numbers, and those that do often lean Right. I've watched it from '68 forward, and they have never lived up to the hype in any Presidential race. Ever.

Sometimes that's all you need. Playing a clip of someone is often infinitely more powerful than some narrator trying to spell out what a ticket stands for in 30 seconds or less. Biden has a history of putting his foot in his mouth, and quite a few times over his career when it comes to "racial" comments. The Republicans can have a field day with that and make the Democrats look ridiculous.

Actually, they voted in very large numbers in '04.
They were just offset by a HUGE Christian Conservative vote.
Which is why McCain should be tapping Huckabee immediately. He can't win on the economy, and he can't win on Iraq...McCain could win on an election about foreign policy in general, but it doesn't seem to be trending that way.
So his one ace in the hole is the fluxuation of that Christian Conservative vote. And unleashing Huckabee in Ohio, and Northern Florida, and Western Pennsylvania would be huge.
Romney would be electoral death for him.

Biden is a bit of loose cannon, I will give you that, and that would be the major concern I'd have.
But it's worth the risk to me, because he's one of the few guys in the Democratic Party who has the credibility to savage McCain on foreign policy.
And if McCain picks Romney, like it appears he very well may, there's a treasure trove of soundbytes far worse between those two, than anything said between Obama and Biden.

Plus he said Obama was too inexperienced to be president and got slammed calling him "articulate,
Remember he was saying these things while he was running for the Democratic nomination.
When Bush 41 and Reagan were competing in 1979 for the RNC nod, Bush went both barrels against Reagan's economic plan, calling it "voodoo economics" Not only did they team up, Reagan won in a landslide, twice and then Bush won the vote in 1988.
I wouldn't worry about all this past rhetoric while competing for the nomination.
I'm amazed in retrospect how disciplined Biden has been in the last month. Obviously, Joe loves the camera and the camera loves Joe, but with the proper handling he could be the beast VP that Obama needs.
Obviously, I've said my piece about Hillary and made my thoughts clear on that.
Outside of her, I can't really think of a better fit, unless Obama was going to coax Al Gore out of retirement.
Richardson's a solid policy guy, and has a good head, but is really kind of a black hole of charisma. I've always liked Edwards, but even if the scandal didn't happen, I can't think of one way he really would enhance the ticket. The governor of Kansas would have provided no advantage, and would have been seen as almost a insult to the Hillary base that he picked another woman. Webb and Kaine don't help Obama experience wise.
And as far as Evan Bayh went, I'm not completely convinced he would have delivered Indiana.
Outside of those names, no one else had close to a high enough profile name to be considered.

yeah, at least this part (http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/trailhead/) was:
The Associated Press is reporting that Joe Biden is Barack Obama's running mate, ending weeks of frenzied speculation. This passage is my favorite:
The official who spoke did so on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt a text-message announcement the Obama campaign promised for Saturday morning.
And yet ... he did just that. All those times David Plouffe said I would "be the first to know" -- just words?
due to this, i heard they had to bump the scheduled text message from 10 am up to 3 am.

Obama has trumpeted his desire to help poor Blacks; he didn't need to look very far if he wasn't concerned for a vote in return.
Maybe this doesn't become an issue - I hope not. I'm feeling a bit more optimistic this morning about the pick; but then again my pot connection is on the way over and that might have something to do with it. I think he is the best choice after Richardson, and if he doesn't do the foot in mouth thing he will be able to weather any bs about his family compound like FOX News has been repeating every 30 seconds on Cavuto this morning.
He's a good decent man with an inspiring story, and besides the comparisons to Cheney as Bushs VP pick to add a Dad to the ticket, I don't think that crap will stick for most voters.

That's generally the spin; but it does appear they are at last starting to vote, and I have to go back to McGovern, ('72), since I last saw this much excitement for a Presidential candidate among younger people.
edit... I don't count Bobby Kennedy because of the tragedy before the nomination.
If you take out the war, Biden is basically McCain just taller and with slightly better hair.
What little hair McCain has left is at least his own -- not horrible plugs like Biden's.
Richardson might have been a good pick but I think he'd be better as Secretary of State. Biden as a Senator would know the inner workings of Congress and would give Obama "gravitas" (ugh) like Cheney did for Bush in 2000.

Korea's supposed underground detonation was found out to be nothing more than a lot of non nuclear explosives and the rockets they launched that were supposed to be capable of reaching the US barely made it off the rocket pad. Korea's nuclear reactor has been thought to have been shut down or operating at a limited capability and they were using that to get money/concessions from the rest of the world.
Every government is working a con game, just like the two presidential nominees, if this choice for VP doesn't prove that to obamaniacs then nothing will.

Yes, and? There were reports out there that US level intelligence said two days earlier that there was very little radioactive material in the air, not to correspond to the blast they claimed. Just like everyone still convienintly forgets korea blowing up a train and half a town using explosives, amazing that a mere 2 years later they tore down their nuclear towers.
Also seismologists didnt see the twin pulse associated with nuclear blasts of any size further leading to either A) it was a minute nuclear component, or B) that it wasnt a nuclear blast.
Whats amazing is that people will think bush is lying about numerous things, 9/11, WMDs, bin laden but they will accept the government line if it agrees with their opinion.

The guy built his campaign on being an outsider who wants change, and he's running with one of the biggest insiders in Washington who has supported the war and funding it from day 1. It's a good political move because of Biden's foreign policy experience, but it's going to leave a decent amount of his "change-minded" supporters jaded. It also concedes the national security issue to McCain, but I don't think Obama was ever competitive on defense issues to begin with.

Man I think this was a great choice. The buzz has all gone to Obama, and I don't see any of the shit on Biden sticking yet; the two together remind me of a celebrity couple at this juncture. This really makes McCain go to the popularity board for his pick imho; he needs something to counter the one-two punch Obama/Biden represents to many voters.
I still would have really rather had Richardson there; but I guess I already knew that wasn't going to happen, and maybe Biden can bring the 18 million Billary supporters back in total. This convention still looms large to me as I worry about the recreate '68 stuff, and what Hillary supporters will do on the floor; but so far it looks like everyone will behave.
I know some here see the glass as half full, and others see the glass as half empty; I say you got the wrong size glass. Don't hate me for being confused.

The Center for Responsive Politics has a thorough analysis of Sen. Joe Biden's campaign cash intake now that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has selected him as his running mate.
The industry that has given Biden the most cash has been lawyers/law firms ($6,567,404) followed by real estate ($1,297,690). Pro-Israel groups are the 8th biggest contributing industry.

Biden generally gets ranked as the "poorest" or second poorest Senator in public listings of wealth. Here is a link to the 2006 rankings (http://www.opensecrets.org/pfds/overview.php?type=W&year=2006&filter=S&sort=A).
So let's compare the two:
Biden at best had $278K in net worth.
McCain happens to be the 8th richest Senate with an estimated net worth of $36M.

Last year, Biden sponsored an RIAA-backed bill called the Perform Act aimed at restricting Americans' ability to record and play back individual songs from satellite and Internet radio services. (The RIAA sued XM Satellite Radio over precisely this point.)
All of which meant that nobody in Washington was surprised when Biden was one of only four U.S. senators invited to a champagne reception in celebration of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act hosted by the MPAA's Jack Valenti, the RIAA, and the Business Software Alliance. (Photos are here.)

You want to blame Bush about Katrina relief? Fine, I can see your point.

I agree with you that Bush/Cheney is not directly responsible for the mortgage/credit crisis. However, when part of your governing message is "market forces uber alles" (until the taxpayer bailout becomes necessary "to preserve the system") and with not only a disdain but an unwillingness to conduct prudent regulation of financial markets (or anything really), as it is with the current batch of Republicans (at least of the ones in charge), then tying the current mess to them is not much of a stretch and seems relatively fair to me.

No shit. There was that one angle, where it looked like it was just floating out there like "Two Face" from the last Batman thing. (((heebie-jeebies))
BTW - bit props to PBS for their very well thought out and articulate assessment of Carter's presidency - nice to see that kind of tribute while the guy is actually alive.
So wait... Is Barack Obama running against George Bush?
Um...yeah...that's kind of been the DNC narrative since 2006, and it's worked for a reason. During that same time, the GOP has been sharpening their own attacks to feast on the sweet nectar that is Clinton only to be denied - one of the reasons you see them crying more and more on Fox News and elsewhere about the Biden pick is because they prepared nothing else.
Thankfully for the Grand Old Party, she and Bill did some of the heavy lifting during the primaries for them already, so they could turn this completely against all issues and 100% on Barack Hussain Obama - hell, some of them were even dressed as former Hillary backers to get on "Hardball" earlier tonight, just so they could start screaming how he was really a muslim.
The real upside in all of this is when McCain nominates someone he really can't stand (Romney), it will be like getting two closet democrats anyway.
Kudos to the police in Denver today: (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article4609445.ece)
US police were investigating tonight if they had disrupted an assassination plot against Barack Obama after two men were arrested near the Democratic convention in Denver with two rifles, a high-powered telescopic scope and the powerful stimulant methamphetamine.
The men were arrested in a routine incident involving a traffic policeman.
The first man, identified by a Denver television station as Tharin Gartrell, 28, was charged with suspicion of being a felon in possession of a weapon after police found the rifles in his car.

What really sucks is I saw a show about the Secret Service and how the protection of the president as of now is a tremendous burden.
And that is threats, real and threats that have to be investigated based only on political differences inside of lunatics' minds.
Add race, because out of 300 million people, there must be plenty of people crazy enough to keep him from being president based solely on his skin color, which has been exasperated with the "Obama is a Muslim" "Obama is a black radical" "Obama has a racist church" emails flying around and the Secret Service will be strained to the limit protecting this man.

Sen. Barack Obama has launched an all-out effort to block a Republican billionaire’s efforts to tie him to domestic and foreign terrorists in a wave of negative television ads.
Obama’s campaign has written the Department of Justice demanding a criminal investigation of the “American Issues Project,” the vehicle through which Dallas investor Harold Simmons is financing the advertisements. The Obama campaign — and tens of thousands of supporters — also is pressuring television networks and affiliates to reject the ads. The effort has met with some success: CNN and Fox News are not airing the attacks.

For what it's worth, I was really impressed with Ted's speech last night. I was listening to CNN in the car, and with the way they were playing it up, i.e. "If Ted has enough strength, he'll speak tonight", etc. etc. I was half-expecting Ted to come out there like Dick Clark post-stroke.
It was the exact opposite. You would have had no idea he had brain cancer, and what's more, I think he looks healthier now than he has in the past.
However, I'm guessing the prognosis is not good; with the way Ted was talking, it was reminding me of Warren Zevon towards the end. (he just wants to watch the next James Bond movie/he just wants to be there in January)
Of course, Hannity acts like a total dolt and calls it a "health scare" for Ted. No, Sean. Treatment for malignant cancer is not a "health scare".

Yeah, my Mom called me up sobbing since she's always loved the Kennedys. I told her I was watching baseball instead but the truth is that it really was moving moment. Basically, Ted Kennedy is dying and this was his farewell to the party and perhaps to the country as well. He's the last of the Kennedy brothers and probably the one who had the most impact on this country's history. And the way he echoed his brothers "passing the torch" line as well as his paraphrasing of the "dream shall never die" line from his 1980 concession speech was a fitting conclusion.
I noticed part of his hair was shaved in the back where he had the surgery. It really was probably a struggle for him to get through that speech as you could kind of read his lips telling Caroline that he wanted to get off the dais after it was over.

They said he went straight from the hospital to the convention, it must have been very difficult and exhausting. I didn't know he was still hospitalized until they mentioned that.
I'm guessing he is Maria Shriver's uncle? They kept cutting to her in the crowd and I know she's a Kennedy, but didn't know exactly how closely they were related.

Why is everyone so enamored with the kennedys, ted in particular? If he was any other regular family he would be a felon after leaving the scene of an accident and jfk was just a cheater, for all we know dimaggio had him killed for fucking marilyn. Ted's dying, so he gets a pass. Ted was definitely the "black sheep" of the three Kennedy brothers, even though he had the longest career.
As for JFK's cheating... *shrug*. It is what it was. GW Bush has been faithful to Laura. Does that make him a better president?

It used dishonest standards by isolating a single year. By using those same standards, I could just as easily say that McCain voted with Bush 67% of the time as he did in 2001
Not really, 67% would be 22% off the average, where 95% is 6% off. I agree that the number Biden used was incorrect, and he should have been more clear that he was referring to 2007. However, I really don't think this is a big deal and the numbers 95% and 89% (though, I've seen this number as 90% some places) really lead to the same conclusion: McCain has voted alongside Bush the vast majority of the time.

BTW, whoever the house band was last night should be shot. They played "Celebration" and unless you are Kool and the mofo Gang, you shouldn't be playing that song. It's not 1993 anymore.
There was another song that was played last night, and I think it was after Ted's speech which was an atrocity. I can't even remember what song it was, they were playing the music but didn't know the words so they were just repeating the chorus over and over again. Damnit, I can't remember what song it was but it was stuck in my head all last night.

And then there was "Isn't She Lovely" for Michele Obama. That band could have been booked in any wedding hall across the country.
The GOP always gets stuck with the label of being boring old farts with lame music but I haven't been too impressed with the Democrats either. And that goes back to the awful Clinton use of Fleetwood Mac.

I missed that - I did, however, catch Chris Mathews almost going ballistic on someone from the audience he was interviewing who claimed to be a former Clinton supporter who was now for McCain, and cited for one of her reasons because he "went to a Muslim School." Mathews pressed her on where she got her info, and she kept backtracking and then began mocking him defensively, and it REALLY became clear that her and the woman/en with her were actually McCain plants all along. That was a great cringy moment.

The other was this morning on "Morning Joe" when Scarlboro flipped out because one of the commentators (Shuster?) told him that "His Party" should do something - Joe went ridiculously overboard defending his non-partisan creds, etc. It was hysterical.

The original story about him being a muslim came from a story about information that Hillary planned to use against him during the campaign. Maybe the woman actually WAS a Clinton supporter rather than a McCain plant. The "plants" from BOTH parties are well-versed in their responses and know exactly what to say. Chris Matthews was mocked and deservedly so. The only thing keeping him from blowing Obama is the Secret Service detail.

I am not a huge fan of Matthews, but I do enjoy it when he pwns people that don't know what they are talking about, and he does it on a regular basis. He seems to know when people are BS'ing about shit they don't know the facts on. There was a video posted here a while ago where he just totally dressed down a RW radio show host who didn't know what he was talking about, and it was hilarious.

Daily Gallup out today shows McCain took the lead this week after the VP pick.
The Catholic Church has ArchBisophs in DC and Denver tearing Peloski and Biden new assholes, and one of them said some crap about life begins at three months according to St. Augustiene.
Candidate X is not ready to deliver according to Bill Clinton.
So much negative bullshit, and this is where Obama is supposed to surge ahead.
Now I hear there are new William Ayers/Obama connections discovered.
How does this happen? I don't see unity, and I see idiots making stupid public statements, and I worry.
On another note - Cindy McCain must have had a few facelifts. I just saw her on TV in Georgia, (Asian one), and noticed her turkey neck for the first time. Uglier than most; but they all are disgusting.

Hillary's speech is went smoothly.... and yeah she is focusing a lot on her past campaign but she is using common points. and her passion is not fake... she is still a believer in her party and i cannot question that loyalty.

I thought Hillary did great tonight, in fact I believe it may have been her finest hour. She was given a tough task, the way they built up the point of "nobody is attacking McCain"...of course leaving the heavy lifting of the day to her.
But give her all of the credit in the world, she delivered.

I thought it was maybe the best speech I've seen her deliver; but it didn't celebrate Obama at all, and so I wonder what Bill will say tommorow night.
I watched FOX News for the speech and afterwards their whole panel pointed out that she never said Obama would be a great President, etc. 4 panelists and they all said she gave him the bare minimum.
Switch to MSNBC News, and they all say she did great, and that she did a superb job of uniting the delegates. I wish I could trust them to tell the truth because I want to believe them.
With the state of American news delivery these days I suppose the truth lies where you want it to be.
Ichiban was Bill hugging the dead mans wife, (Arkansas Dem Party Chair murdered a little while back), for 30 seconds before the speech, and then giving a 5 second hug to the older fat lady that was next. He is still a dirty old man. Or maybe not.
Maybe I just see things the way I want to because I've learned the truth doesn't matter to the millions of Americans who accept the current crap we are fed as 'News'.
All I wanted to hear from her was whether or not Obama is 'ready to lead', and whether or not he is ready to answer that 3AM phone call.
Now Terry McAulift is lying on Greta. I hate that man; he cost Kerry the last election. I wish Obama would promise me a bullet in the head; that's a platform I can support.

The critics who complained that Monday night was too "soft" and then today said that Hillary didn't do enough are nit-picking for the sake of nit-picking, and are simply wrong - they are only interested in their immediate response - this is not a convention for them.
Obama and Co. are delivering the convention that they want - one that builds one day to the next; start with an emotional bang with Teddy, segue into "humanizing" the Obama family; move to Mark Warner (who I thought delivered a fantastic keynote speech, that echoed the direction Obama laid out there four years ago when he delivered the keynote speech); begin with the red meat, but also begin "the healing" with Hillary and her supporters (one speech by her isn't going to finish that deal - but her words will be echoing in the ears of her supporters during the debates and they see John McCain) in what I thought was a stirring, rally for the Democrats to get behind.
President Clinton picks that up tonight, and when it culminates with Biden there really will be a perfect stage set for Obama on Thursday, imo.
If the convention had been wall to wall McCain bashing, that would have been used against them as "Same Ol Politics Like Everyone Else" - if Hillary had praised Obama from the personal level, critics would have hammered home that she was being a phony - just as they would have hammered away if everyone else had spent four days only gushing - it would have been a replay of the "Moses" ad ("Don't Vote For Obama Because He's Popular!" - bleeech!)
By contrast, everyone knows what the GOP is going to do next week, because they have telegraphed that they have no problem with making the election all about Obama - in 2000 they used the fact that Al Gore was the most qualified man to run for the job since Richard Nixon and turned it into a negative (as a very inexperienced GW Bush got nominated), and now they want to tell us that experience is the only thing that matters...
When both conventions are over, unless the Republicans shit the bed (which is more likely, in my opinion, than the Dems) it will more than likely be a wash, but Obama will be able to really begin the fight having put the primaries and the Clinton "problems" in the past and square up the base. If he can do that AND not scare away the independents and successfully connects McCain to the last eight years then he might get the advantage.
There are 10% of people who identify themselves as democrats or leaning that way who have not been convinced yet - this convention is for them, and to that effect I thought nights one and two were huge successes.

“If you look at the list, you can see that anyone who's ever shot a gopher's got a speaking engagement here,” he said.

MSNBC, from a purely technical perspective, has had horrible coverage. Audio has consistently cut out the last two days. Yesterday they were coming out of interviews not knowing where they were going next. Tonight video feeds have been cutting out. They are in front of a train station and the train horn is consistently going off int he background.
I had to bail out of MSNBC...the outside set with people yelling everytime a name was mentioned was distracting and annoying...

Finally heard the Clinton speech and I thought it was outstanding. One of the best speeches I've heard in a long time. That crowd was insane over her!
The McCain camp trying to paint the speech as somehow Hillary not mentioning Obama's leadership qualities is REALLY grasping at straws. She's clearly 100% behind him and believes in him.

While its elected officials say it is the party of "the working people," Democrats are quietly running an elaborate VIP program that rewards wealthy contributors with luxury perks and insider access at the Denver convention, part of what the party calls a "business plan."

That was what I thought when I watched it last night. I thought maybe the best I've heard from her ever.
I've been watching FOX News mostly because the audio for MSNBC, and CNN are way lower on my cable line for some odd reason; so I avoid them mostly because I don't like to turn my computer volume way up, (my TV is my computer too). When I do turn it up to watch them I get scared by computer sounds when someone signs on IM or whatever.
I was just shocked that all 4 panelists said it was bare minimum. I really don't get how these people make these calls sometimes. After that panel I saw Dick Morris saying it was a great speech, and that hurts Obama!
Of course seeing MSNBC all saying it was a great speech didn't comfort me either.
Clearly one panel is lying, and I'm not smart enough about politics to know who it is.
But no matter how my audio situation is; I'm not listening to traffic, (MSNBC train station set), while I try to learn what's going on. MSNBC is really turning into a joke.

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.
On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.
I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950's, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.
When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said 'Praise the Lord'. And when the young leader said, 'I wil be for change and I'll bring you change, everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!'
But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner's guns went silent the people's guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world most fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the beginning of my story.
Luckily, we would never fall in America for a left leaning young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America ?
Would we?

Wow is all I can say. How can the hotel make a valid complaint against a newsman covering a convention from a public sidewalk?

The story sounds weird. Either there's a complete abuse of power going on or there's a huge piece of the story missing. I'd be interested in hearing a third party report on it. This is an ABC report regarding an ABC producer.

I think the media is trying to create a narrative and Hillary giving a dignified speech supporting Obama doesn't support that narrative. They desperately want war within the Democratic party and they're not getting it. Sorry MSM, on to the next fake news piece.
.....for the media.

Dare not ask questions. Look away knave, nothing to see here. It will be interesting how the smell of fresh blood (possible big news story) will be perfumed over as not to attract more sharks. Ethical quandry for the media here. How hard do you push to find the truth. Wow, this is a stretch of major proportions. The Bush administration stripped us of more of our rights (and who got us into a war without saying who was going to pay for it or expecting anyone to make any sacrifices) than any Obama administration ever could.

Fox vs. MSNBC: Michelle's Speech
During Michelle Obama’s speech to the Democratic National Convention, she sought to reintroduce herself to America. How well did she do? It depends on whether you watched MSNBC or Fox News Channel.

my question is to you ? how do you know this to be true ? you sound so sure that you will not be misled too. do not misunderstand, I dislike (understatement) GW Chaney and the rest. We were misled by them too. You blind affirmation and alligence to Obama is undertstandable. The course of this country over the last 4 years, is quite frankly, disgusting. However, Obama is just way too socialist for me, however, you are entitled to your opinio. There is one more thing, until people quit blaming other people for shit that is not right in this world. Blame for all the inequities..all the injustice, until we as individuals decide to take responsibilities for our lives, our families, our course and our obligations as citizens. then nothing will change. Democrat or Republican we will rot in our own special interest. I hope whatever happens in November we can move past it together, but I doubt it. for what it is worth I will try.

I disagree. If you look at history she's been more supportive of the winning nominiee than most failed candidates. She backed Obama months ago, that's actually pretty rare considering how well she did. The media is creating a false story.

that comparison holds absolutely no water. the state of each country, the check and balances of power, etc.
theres been numerous times in this country when a leader who promoted change was put in power and succeeded, however.
