Eh, i dunno. Some of these home guys are major homers. It would alienate the other fans.. Would u want Hawk doing the games as a Cub fan? I think having one of each would balance it out.
I agree, it has to be third party announcers since these games are now on the national stage.
You all will hate me for this, but I say just let Jon and Joe do it.

That's what they already do for interleague.
One from each would be a trainwreck. It would only be "fair" if you brought over two PBP guys, and that would just be ridiculous.

What if you alternate play by and color guys at home? Have the home play by play and road away?

Half of the "legends" section is empty. What a joke.

He loves to suck in the field as well.
The guy OPS'd .942 and had an OPS+ of 142, with an EqA of .319 on one of the worst teams in the entire history of baseball.
You know how great a hitter he is? Despite the fact that his FRAA was -20, he STILL put up a 4.1 WARP3. That's absurd.
Its how I feel about Manny...as long as he keeps putting up EqA's of over .300 and OPS+ near 150, he can play outfield in a tutu for all I care.

He was a good mgr from 96-01 After 02, not so good. Sure they went onto the postseason every year but he made some dumb decisions
A Yankee fan all my life, I feel that Torre was not disrespected with that 1 year contract offered to him after the 07 loss to Cleveland. IMHO he should have been canned after collapse of 04

This MLB playoff schedule is stupid.
If the Phillies wrap it up tonight, and the Yankees do the same tomorrow night, there will be 6 days off before Game 1 of the World Series on Oct. 28.
The World Series would end no earlier than Nov. 1, even if it's a sweep.
Fucking stupid.

As a Phillies fan I whole heartedly support you. I hate the whole "throw the home run back" gimmick some of the people at Citizens Bank Park have done blatantly stealing it from the Cubs. Personally, Id never throw a home run back. Fuck that.

The Dodgers owner fired (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Battle-of-Los-Angeles-begins-Dodgers-owner-fire?urn=mlb,197702) his soon-to-be ex-wife as president of the club. She plans to stake a claim on the franchise. This could get ugly.

Isn't she legally entitled to half of whatever he owns under the laws of California? It would be funny if she sold her half of his stake in the franchise to someone he really hated.
But then again, were they actually married in California? I'm reading they were married in 1979, when he was still active in the Boston area, so I would assume they would have to go through court in Massachusetts to get their divorce, no? Have they lived in California long enough for any of those communal property things there to take effect?

Listening to MadDog, this is incredible:
In the MLB there are 5 teams that have not made the playoffs since 1993.
In the NFL, the team that has gone the longest without going to the playoffs is the Lions, who made it in 1999.
Granted, only 8 teams make the playoffs in MLB, and 12 in the NFL (though there are 2 more NFL teams).

Mark McGwire has apparently been hired as the Cardinals' new hitting coach. Sounds like LaRussa is back, too. Does this mean that the rumblings like Dave Duncan might want to go elsewhere are done?

It means the rumors of the Cardinals training staff administering new 'treatment' is true.

It's not really much of a change. McGwire and LaRussa have always had a good relationship and McGwire has worked with many of the Cardinals' hitters in the offseason for the last several years.
