speculation by who? Apparently the yankees offered a 7 year 100 extention, and boris said we want 10 years 200 mill and said but we might go for 7 at the same yearly money, meaning 140.
That was reported to have happened in a negotiation between the 2 sides. that isnt speculation, those were numbers actually thrown around, according to yankee wonderboy Michael Kay

I didn't hear anything about what Kay said. Those talks probably started before the WBC.
Who knows the exact amount. My point was that since all these big extensions in the last couple of weeks and him winning the MVP for the WBC he could demand more money.
The 10 years is out the door.

The extensions, sure, winning MVP in the WBC is just nonsense. If his agent tried to bring that shit up they'd tell him to have fun trying to chisel 100+ mill out of the DR state team, then. It's like if you tried to leverage being the MVP of spring training on a team.

While the market and past production will be the main factor, I don't think bringing up the WBC will be a deal breaker.
In spring training , a teams record really isn't that big of a deal. Plus there are split squad games. In the WBC sure there are teams like the Netherlands and Italy who aren't noted for baseball like with the Caribbean and Asian teams, however playing in the WBC is playing to win the trophy so there's the competitive part

Are u seriously going to go this route? One game, the first game?!
And I said it on the Jay site before this week when they stated jpa would catch ra, not smart. He was bad yesterday and it led to ~ half the runs against yesterday. Just a very dumb move out of the gate and boy did Lind suck balls once again in three huge at bats. Lawrie can't get back fast enough too, bc bon and iz in the lineup both is not good. See kev, 100 million less spent equals holes remaining. We can't all be so lucky to go out and sign the overbays and wells of the world in their golden years.

The change in the guess pitch thing is really messing me up. I always had trouble with the game judging balls down. So I would just guess low fastballs every pitch and then react to whatever else it was. But now you have to get them both or you get nothing if you guess both. It seems easier to hit this year, which is probably why they made the guessing thing harder, but its weird to adjust to

I always use classic controls, for hitting, pitching, and baserunning. I hate having to learn new systems. I stick to what works.

I got used to it quickly this year, though. I'm paying more attention to the pitch instead of the meter, as I did in the past.

the ball doesnt seem to come in as quick this year so its a bit easier to follow it. I use buttons to swing cause im lazy, so i just have to worry about timing it right and covering the right spot. It the last game the ball got on you so fast you had to just guess fastballs all the time or you would never get it. Like i said im sure Ill get used to it, and so far I have only hit as a pitcher so my stats are garbage in road to the show. I played one game sox vs yanks and i put up 11 runs so I guess its not that hard to hit

this is even worse
the story BEFORE the video starts is a very kind gentleman gave away some shirts he got (for chicken apparently ...) He threw them in the crowd and a girl caught it. The girl with the black hair ripped it from her hands. The dad got upset (understandably) so he defended the fact that she got away with it and then this happened......500 section's finest!!!
It was the guy in the hat whose glasses were tossed over the balcony into the 100L. Girl in the blue pants was blasted and instigated 100%. They all got kicked out, except for the t-shirt guys. Those guys are awesome, they were just tossing t-shirts to people in the stands.
Wicked game on the field (despite the L) and the stands, 500L is awesome.

are you guys at home still and if so has the dome been closed? That Knuckleball needs a crisp wind or air movement to be effective. Thats why wakefield was always solid until june and then would turn it on again come sept oct. Same like how dickey slumped over the summer last year.
When it gets humid and the air is flat and heavy, or in a dome where its not really moving, its very hard to get the knuckler to dance like it will when its 55 degrees and a nice breeze is blowin

Maybe mattingly whined a bit, but if you just lost a guy you paid that much for after trading away your pitching depth over something this dumb, you would be pissed to.
Quentin is a faggot. He dives over the plate. Thats why he has been hit more than anyone else, period. Even the pitch that hit him from Grienke wasnt that far inside and barely grazed him.
If you are gonna throw at a guy, it wouldnt be in that situation, you wouldnt have thrown pitches to a full count. You would do it first pitch. Quentin was being fuckin stupid and Mattingly is right, he shouldnt play until Grienke does.
Dont be bitter cause Grienke wouldnt go to the Mets. Besides, the guy has anxiety disorder, he woulda ended up like this guy if he went to the Mets:

Two starts kevin? Two and one not that bad in the end for a guy the marlins made toronto take bc of his contract to get johnson and reyes? Ok, let's play the super small sample game and we'll call mo awful when he has a bad outing and tex done bc he has a bum wrist so early. You are the wf of the sports threads truly.
Most, including me expect another 200 plus innings from him, and his normal 10+ wins as his career slowly comes to its conclusion. He is old kev, and relies on being crafty and just hasn't made his pitches yet. He'll be fine, as i am much more worried about Reyes right now as his injury looked bad.
And for he record on the injury, Reyes was so ahead of the throw he made a dumb error of thinking he could make it without sliding until he looked in very late and saw it was needed. He slid VERY odd and never truly got down as the angle was too upright and the cleats grabbed badly. It was a dumb move not to just go all out and follow through with the slide, not try to go in standing or wih the little pop up slide very late.
newport king
04-13-2013, 12:25 AM
Spoon i just read your GMs comments on the injury. He said it could be a week, could be 3months depending on test results. Knowing his past injury history, i wouldnt be suprised if its September by the time he comes back. I don't know if he's soft or he just doesn't feel comfortable unless he's 100%.
spoon
04-13-2013, 12:35 AM
It will be interesting to see what comes of the tests, but baseball players are surely not that tough overall compared to hockey and football. Reyes is a pretty emotional guy too, and as i stated before i wouldn't be surprised he was gay. Don't care at all truly, but he most certainly is not your tough guy mentality type. He dances more than any player i ever saw.

ok but if he thought it was fouled, he woulda still been like 30 feet from the base, AT LEAST, at the time it woulda been fouled. I have never seen a guy keep running full speed after a ball was fouled off for that long. By the time he even looked over, the ball was almost to second base. Toronto simply has zero injury luck...much like most of my teams it seems....F!
Toronto's ace might be going on the DL (pulled from the game tonight with "upper back/neck injury). Their stud RF might be going on the DL and our best player this season by far (Reyes) is out for at least 3 months. And we’ve played 15 1/2 games. We also lost one of our better setup guys and backup closer (Santos), so yah, awesome.

Next time you watch a game, see if the home plate umpire is Corey Blaser. This guy has the most bizarre strike zone I've ever seen, whats a strike 1 inning aint the next. Brett Anderson has been screwed out of at least 8 fastball strike calls in the first inning alone.

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!
Jays won a game and NY lost so it's all over right!?
for fuck's sake yankee fans are the worst
1-2, early in a long long season
what I can tell you is that the Jays are NOT being coached well overall thus far...at the plate with their approach (see so little pitches and swing away at garbage), on the bases (EE not running out his near hits off the wall and Bautista rounding third on a ball caught by Wells who we should know can play the wall well as he did it for years here/not to mention he only needed to be around second to score if it went off the wall, much less over it), and of course in the field where they simply look like garbage. They literally gave away 4 runs on the books and the second game in extra innings, but also more bc two errors where called hits that led to 4 more runs in these games as well.
Yah, the series was pretty much DEAD even or in the Jay's favor IF they executed...and hence my chemistry, cohesion and coaching fears are coming up in a big big way early. Now sure they have two very good fielders just returning, much less their very good SS on the mend, but what team doesn't have injuries. JP is below average behind the plate, we have no solid 2nd baseman in the field and Melky is much slower off the roids and fattening up Wells like in the past. Pitching, well most have been on again of late so at least that's going better. RA 3 of 4 outings very solid, Buehrle 2/4 (back to back) Johnson (3/4), Morrow 2/4 and Happ 2/3.
Obviously they need to dig out of this hole and change some things fast, but man the lazy play in the field and on the bases irk me the most. That's just coaching, accountability and laziness. Pathetic.

Id only be concerned because there's always a team that wins the offseason and should win the world series on paper, but it just doesn't translate on the field.

well only a fool would put the Jays as a top level WS contender not having played a regular season game with this team, much less playoffs in the last 20 years
hell, add in it's the AL East and just making the playoffs is highly in doubt
yet they finally made some positive moves and should be plenty competitive...it just may take some time to iron out some wrinkles that just showed up. yet I'm not digging the loss of Butterfield in a HUGE way. He was our D specialist, positioned the team in the field AND was the third base coach and a great judge of when to and when not to go home or steal. He's a very under the radar loss that too many won't notice and is a huge hole that so far hasn't been filled based on what I see.
