wow, SD plays almost everyone tight and great

they are simply cursed in closing teams out and or holding on

so many close/bad losses to end games despite great play, smart calls and so much right up to that point…back to Marty ball of not putting some away and trying to hold on in an offensive NFL…minus the wins in the regular season. They HAVE to win this in KC…the most overrated 9-0 team at one point, and now the most overrated 9-1 team.

there is almost NO D in this game too. you expect it for SD, but not KC…the Andy Reid effect is sinking in.

reverse jinx

great throw by Rivers on the game winner

5-6 doesn't do this team justice…neither does the fact that this record is the second wild card right now too

almost NOBODY is out of it for the last spot

KC gets loss number 3 in a row next week, but I just can't see catching them for the first spot

These refs should be forced to either be a ref and work on it full time or not be a ref. they should not have other jobs. They get paid a ton to half ass it.

"For the 2012-2013 season, the average NFL referee salary was $149,000 per year. For the 2013-2014 the average NFL referee salary is $173,000. By 2019, the average NFL salary will rise to $205,000. This season, a rookie NFL referee's salary starts at $78,000 and a 10 year veteran can make $200,000 per season. But here's the kicker (pun intended), NFL referees are not full time employees. They do not get paid time off and they do not receive health benefits. Even though NFL refereeing is a highly paid side job, most officials have full time jobs outside football."

No, it's not even close to enough if you want excellence and full-time employees. They get paid worse than any other major sport in what amounts to the biggest most lucrative one here. Not right, like the lack of healthcare, paid off time and all the norms of a full-time job. Not enough just bc others would like the money. Of course it's on another level, bc it is on another level and you can't compare it that way. The league make BILLIONS and simply don't take care of their crew like even Walmart does its fucking managers with health and time off.

yah, sure thing crutch boy

NBA, their cap is a joke
NFL, top teams are there bc it's the most important coaching and one player led leagues in the world (QB).
NHL, you only watch if the Rangers look great, hence you don't have a fucking clue. Bottom line is that's just some stupid thing stupid people say who don't know what the fuck they're talking about. How bout that weather? Right Kev!

I don't understand how baseball supports the parity argument.

spoon
11-24-2013, 08:41 PM
and your baseball claim is hilarious

first off, there has NEVER been a repeat champ in the cap era and you have to go back to 97-98 Wings wholely built on free agency

since the cap was instituted, only 4 teams even made the Cup twice…one of them won the Cup both times in Chicago. For good reason too, they were AWFUL for a long long time, and got a shit ton of great players in the draft that are amazing (Seabrook, Keith, Kane, Towes, goalie Crawford and a lot more).

but yes, let's go down this tired route again and again and again

spoon
11-24-2013, 08:48 PM
I don't understand how baseball supports the parity argument.

pretty much the same f'n teams every year, as some come in and out of relevance by either splurging for a few years, great coaching to bridge a gap or getting lucky to have their kids actually sign WITH THEM and come together for a touch. usually it takes a touch of all three just to get a sniff. the tough part for baseball comes IN the playoffs, hence the bullshit talking point of champs being different. It's almost always the same players (NYY/ Boston, Atlanta/Philly, LAA/Tex, St. Louis, SF and Detroit. You can add new players like LAD who bought their pass into the playoffs at a hefty bullshit price too, and TB are the big anomalies here, based on past draft picks and just superb coaching.

there's a fucking reason SeligLB keeps adding more wild cards, well on top of the money, to involve more teams. some have decade long droughts, others have one sprinkled year in here and there…think Pirates for that one. Others are lucky to be in open divisions and those are usually more competitive and closely contested…you know, similar resources and it comes down to effort and coaching…as it SHOULD.

Yah, he's a big mouthed goof…even the other teams usually say that in the end…but man, too much at times and it comes off as garbage too. The guy is and has been a very good qb with oatmeal legs, but last year showed even a good qb can be doomed by play calling and stupidity over and over and over again.

As for the talking, it has been reported Rivers never curses at all out there, it's just NICE HOLD and COME ON REF…he's works clean, which is even more rare on the football field than in comedy.

None of us know what the fuck those refs see in there but it seems like it isn't the same as what we see on TV

And it just seems like it would be easier bc ud have someone watching the games already and by Time ref gets to phone or whatever way they'd communicate the review ref might already have the call so games may go a little faster

I never understood why they ever did it how they did. Even in NCAA football, they call up to a booth where the guys are watching on huge screens and they make the decision. I dont get why the ref in the NFL has to make it looking at a tv they stole from some tailgaters van

I also LOVE that they act as if stats don't mean anything to Manning…for fuck's sake, it's ALL he really cares about. The fuck switched 90% of run plays in the red zone to passes, convinces the team to go for it on 4th downs all the time in the red zone and CONSTANTLY has run it up this year. Payton comes to Bristol a few times a year to play golf at a super exclusive course and this summer he was in town for a few days. He asked the local high school if he could use the field to work out (which I hear he is a workout freak and wont go a day without throwing passes). He asked if they could get some of the high school team to come out so he could throw to them running routes etc. What a dream for a high school kid!

BUT, whomever he talked to at the school shot him down saying they didn't know who would be willing to come out and unlock the field etc. So he didn't do it here.
Unbelievable!

Instead, he contacted another high school in the next town and they not only let him do that - they made a cool day of it and the whole football team helped him practice.

BTW... I have met and played in a golf tourney with him and Eli and they are both very nice and down to earth guys. They even took a sharpie and drew a dick on a buddy of mines face when he passed out after tons of scotch. BTW... neither of them would drink any alcohol.

Oh, and I am predicting that Romo ends up playing afterall.

The Cowboys do this every year. Romo gets hurt, everyone makes it out to be a huge injury that may make him miss time, then "miraculously" he comes back to play and everyone ends up sucking his dick by calling him "courageous" or a "warrior" for being out there.

I'm not saying he isn't hurt and Lord knows I know what this injury is like. I had surgery for it two years ago and it was the worst pain I ever felt. I just believe the Cowboys' PR department overblows things in order to make Romo look better when he "fights through the pain."

Yet the good news is they have a chance to make me even more ecstatic with an upset win over Cincy (Dad's team), then Denver (hate them and fuck Peyton in his horse face) and then ? Let's be honest though, just nice to make the tourney for the first time in almost half a decade.

Still, I may put some money down on them JUST in case bc they were/are MUCH better than the respect they get (TONS of tight/close games) and many wins against AFC teams in the playoffs.

Lost to Cincy by 7 earlier in the year…so it's not like they owned us, best KC's first team earlier in the year and now their second team too (2-0 vs KC), 1-1 versus Denver and beat them in Denver by 7/lost by 8 at home and beat up Indy in Indy holding them to only 3 fgs. Didn't play the Pats, but 4-2 versus all the rest and both losses one score games. Surely not terrible odds as if they have no place there. And recycle guys like Norv and another i keep hearing now too, Lovie.

There's no way Lovie goes to DC. And I don't see him as a recycle. At some point it's time to move on and it was that time for Lovie. But he still went 10-6 his final year and took a team with Rex Grossman to the Super Bowl. I hope he doesn't get the Detroit job.

If I owned the Lions I'd hire Lovie to be the head coach, hire Norv to OC and win multiple Super Bowls.

no way on Lovie, Norv even annoys me as an OC of late in Clev as he just tosses it deep down the field on way too many plays, with lesser guys like Campbell behind center. Sure, get guys like Gordon involved, but man that O wasn't pretty at times and they made zero adjustments to the three different qbs. The style lined up best for Hoyer, but man, more change there and way too soon for an HC change. don't agree

and lovie will NEVER win a Super Bowl unless he inherits a great team like Shanny with Elway, Davis and the steroid filled D they had at the time.

Is there any logical reason for an interception on 4th down? I saw the Bengals do it this past Sunday and it cost them 30 yds, and SC just did it and lost about 15. Why not just slap the ball down on 4th down attempts? Makes no fucking sense.

usually it's just precautionary (as in teams have slapped it down and it gets caught) and or with the idea they can return it?

yet at times it's probably just instinct/battle for the ball they have instilled in them….but other times I'm sure its tied to stat padding and selfish play by dbs too

I thought about that, and it makes sense in traffic, the last two I saw would have been ridiculously easy to slap down. I get the instinct thing, but having a little situational awareness would save a lot of yards, like an infielder when there are 2 outs, they should be thinking about playing a little different on 4th down. I think it has more to do with padding stats.

Or Jim Caldwell!

I think that's bc teams have to interview a minority coach so they just bring in the 1 or 2 top names just to say they did

Like was there any real chance the Texans were gonna hire lovie?

I'm sure the rule helps but I think Dungy Tomlin and love with bears and Marvin Lewis got hired cause that's what the team wanted not because they had to bring in a minority

Another thing I was thinking of was how many coaches survive long enough to have 2 good to great quarterback's

Last would be Mccarthy but he came in on tail end of farve and drafted rodgers

I agree more with the instinct thing. I've seen times when, as soon as the defender intercepts it, he almost looks like "Oh, shit... What do I do about this, now?" I think there may also be times when the clock is close to running out. The defender will run around to try to run as much time off the clock as he can. Possibly allowing them to take a knee for the next four downs.

Situational awareness, that's all I'm saying.

When it's not an "accident", I think they are probably just being selfish to help their stats.

Tampa could hire pretty much anyone, and still come out on top.

I fucking hate that he always thinks a coach has to have won a Super Bowl before. All he ends up getting out of that is someone who is wash ups, who are out of touch with today's game. Hire some young blood, for fuck's sake! But don't make the same mistake as when you hired Spurrier.

Or a BCS championship.

Funny thing about McCarthy and Rodgers.

McCarthy was the o-coordinator who wanted Alex Smith over Rodgers. When he arrived Rodgers had already sat for a year behind Favre.

While I think it's wonderful we have Rodgers, McCarthy had zero to do with that pick. All credit goes to Ted Thompson.

Cincinnati seems to have the same problem, but Ochocinco to the rescue!

I know you can expect a certain number of out of town fans, but doesn't the new stadium have more seats than the population of Green Bay? With the crazy cold weather that's been happening, added to the slim chance that Green Bay will go all the way, I guess it's somewhat understandable that they wouldn't sell out.

what kind of coach does the Redskins need?

A hard ass that will not roll over with Snyder
A players coach
A young eager OC or DC without head coaching experience
A college head coach ready to make the leap

What ya think?
