Whenever they talk about music, it reminds me of how much I love Ron & Fez.

Their discussion of Captain Beefheart a couple of weeks ago made my blood boil. "Who does he think he is, Frank Zappa?" It's amazing how little two radio guys can know about music. The thing I really don't get is their "maaaaaaaaaan" attitude toward The Stooges, pegging them as some sort of high-falootin' hipster band. They aren't exactly The Velvet Underground. Plus, am I crazy, or do they not occasionally use "Search and Destroy" as a rejoinder?

exactly. the lucky strike thing was funny in the beginning because, it was used in the racist way the culture was back then. now, as someone else pointed out, the voice has morphed into a thinly veiled version of ant's own thoughts and opinions. it moved from the parody it originally was.

the more overtly racist ant shows himself to be, the more i feel like i will never be comfortable going to the studio again, since i know how he feels towards "darkies" like me. the direction in which he's moving is making me distance myself from the show. its like "my kind" aren't welcomed. maybe thats what he wants.

Ya know, I hadn't noticed it until recently but I find myself listening to O&A a lot less these days. I'm listening to old O&A bits, Ron and Fez bits, whole Ron and Fez replays, music, etc. There was a time not too long ago when I'd turn O&A on loud enough to hear around the entire apartment as I web surfed, washed up, ate lunch, etc. Now I find that I want to listen less and less.

I have to attribute a fair amount of my attitude change to Anthony's unfunny bullshit. It's the SAME THING EVERYDAY. I don't need to hear him open his fucking mouth on a topic, I already know where it's gonna go when he opens his mouth. The show is like O&A Madlibs now. I hear a sentence and can fill in the blanks before Ant opens his fucking mouth.

And just to clarify, the real reason this is so frustrating is I know the guy can be about as funny as a guy can be on the radio. He just seemed to stop doing that shit awhile ago. Brilliance still shines through, but it's not worth sitting through the repetitive garbage most days to hear it.

My husband was rehired back to his old job. He was laid off for about a year and 3 months. He started today. I have the Inno on in the kitchen set for 202 and I listen online to varies shit in another room. I would walk into the kitchen and hear him rant and rave about the same shit. I miss hearing 202 all day through out the house. I look SOOOOO foward to 11:00. I get to a point where it's about 10:15 and yell at O&A get the fuck off the air. The longer they go, we get less of RnF.

Dark Moment in Civil Liberties
On the night of December 7, 1941, in the aftermath of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, U.S. agents rounded up Italian nationals suspected of disloyalty. Most of them were immigrants in the process of becoming U.S. citizens; many had been in America for decades but had not been naturalized. For the next two years, many Italian Americans lived under strict curfew and some were even imprisoned. Eventually, 600,000 Italian Americans would be branded as "enemy aliens."

The authority for these arrests came from Title 50 of the U.S. Code, based on the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, which gives the government power to detain aliens in times of emergency. Under this authority, hundreds of Italians were arrested. About 250 individuals were interned for up to two years in military camps in Montana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. By June of 1942, the total reached 1,521 Italian aliens arrested by the FBI, many for curfew violations alone. Though most of the latter were released after short periods of detention, the effects on them and others in the community are not hard to imagine.

[A parallel situation occurred north of the border. When the fascist Italian government, lead by Benito Mussolini, declared war on Great Britain and France on June 10, 1940, Italian-Canadians were also branded "enemy aliens". Acting under the Canadian War Measures Act, the Canadian government temporarily detained 2,400 Italian Canadians and approximately 500 Italian-Canadians were interned during World War II.]

Most of them were immigrants in the process of becoming U.S. citizens; many had been in America for decades but had not been naturalized. For the next two years, many Italian Americans lived under strict curfew and some were even imprisoned. Eventually, 600,000 Italian Americans would be branded as "enemy aliens."

The authority for these arrests came from Title 50 of the U.S. Code, based on the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, which gives the government power to detain aliens in times of emergency. Under this authority, hundreds of Italians were arrested. About 250 individuals were interned for up to two years in military camps in Montana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. By June of 1942, the total reached 1,521 Italian aliens arrested by the FBI, many for curfew violations alone. Though most of the latter were released after short periods of detention, the effects on them and others in the community are not hard to imagine.

[A parallel situation occurred north of the border. When the fascist Italian government, lead by Benito Mussolini, declared war on Great Britain and France on June 10, 1940, Italian-Canadians were also branded "enemy aliens". Acting under the Canadian War Measures Act, the Canadian government temporarily detained 2,400 Italian Canadians and approximately 500 Italian-Canadians were interned during World War II.]

Many immigrants, clubs, and stores made a point of not using Italian in public, while others stopped teaching the language to their children. There were times when I still listened when you could here how uncomfortable Opie and Jim were. I find it hard to believe that Anthony does not understand what Opies silence means or hear how hard Jim is trying to gently disagree without hurting his feelings. I would love to hear Norton disregard his feelings and have a real point counter point conversation when Anthony goes down the race road. Or, dream of dreams, a conversation with Ron about race.
